I've lived in Minnesota for ten years and FINALLY made it to Valley Fair!! As a millennial, childless adult with plenty of disposable income, we bought everything we could to make this an easy experience, so keep that in mind. We went with the Four Pack deal, which was being offered at the time and was tremendous value: admission, refillable drink cup, parking, and a combo meal for $55. Thought that was incredibly worth it! We also did the Fast Lane so we wouldn't be bogged down by the heat and lines, which was QUITE steep at $85 a pop, but so few people had it that we never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride the entire day. Up to you on how much you value your time, but we thought it was worth it from a sanity perspective. The park was VERY clean and well landscaped. It didn't feel like a concrete jungle by any means. Now the park is celebrating 50 years, and you can tell a lot of the park hasn't been touched in 50 years from the dated color schemes and peeling paint. Some people might find it nostalgic, but I found it to be a bit drab. Food and drink options were plentiful, and quite tasty! We had the chicken tenders for lunch from the Beach Bites cafe and they were juicy and delicious! I was a bit weirded out that the ranch was out in the sun all day, but I didn't get sick ;) Overall, this isn't the largest theme park I've been to, but it checks the box for the thrill seekers out there. I found the water park to be crowded and underwhelming, so I'd stick to the rides myself! I don't need to rush back, but I look forward to coming back in a few years to check it out again! read more

My son and I have been coming here for years. Today, we arrived and said "wow there's not many cars". Should have been the first sign. Multiple rides closed. The one we did get in broke midway and left us sitting for 30 minutes. In return we got a fast lane pass FOR ONE RIDE! Remember the no cars. There's no lines. After an hour, my son asked to leave. "All the rides are broken anyway daddy, so let's just go home". New management. Extreme price hikes. Zero enjoyment. read more

Love valleyfair, have been going for a decade, but the new owners (Blackrock) are changing things... not for the better. A new chaperone law is in place, requiring anyone under 18 to have a 21+ chaperone. This should return to 16+, if your security is that poor that you have to exclude people from your park.. that's your problem. Started going to ValleyFair many years ago and started bringing my kiddos the last few years. It's nice that they have a Pre-K Pass for kids ages 2-5, we have definitely put that to use the last few years with our two kiddos. Our most recent visit was this past weekend when we went to the recently updated waterpark - Superior Shores. Our younger son loves the new water slides for younger kids while our older son loves the larger water rides now that he is tall enough to go on them. We also went on the Mad Mouse ride as a family - it was our 4-year old's 1st time on it and he loved it. ValleyFair has a nice variety of rides and entertainment for different age groups and is one of our go-tos for summer and early Fall (Halloween activities are fun too). read more

I used to work at Valleyfair. My family went with me this week for my birthday. We bought the 4 pack. The food they offered for the "deal" in the 4 pack meal deal was not good food. They only offered burnt way over salted potato chips for the side. The cups that come with the package are almost impossible to get. My husband stood in line over an hour just to get the cups! A lot of things were gone. IMAX Theatre is gone now is part of the water park. The Flume is gone and now is part of the water park. The Starship Boat ride is gone and now is part of the water park. If you don't plan to go water parking, you will be stuck with less rides and longer lines. Obviously it is cheaper for them to focus on the water park than to have rides. On cold days the water park is not for everyone. read more

Cash-only scam alert! My daughters brought cash to Valleyfair yesterday, only to find out the park no longer accepts it. They were told to load their cash onto Valleyfair debit cards, and the employee had them put $20 on three separate cards. Later, they tried to buy a $21 drink cup but were told they couldn't combine cards for payment, so they couldn't buy it--or anything over $20. Guest Services refused to help. To make matters worse, no one told them about the $4 fee per card, turning $20 into just $16 in spending power. They left with money trapped on cards they couldn't use. This feels like a deceptive cash grab designed to force guests into Valleyfair's prepaid card system. read more

This place keeps getting more expensive! $20 for parking. $44 admission purchased online. The HIGH ROLLER and Delirious were closed when we went. Steel Venom closed for a bit when there was a lightning nearby. Park closes at 7pm on a Monday, which was a bit early, but I got to go on all the thrill level 4&5 rides (besides HIGH ROLLER and Delirious because they were closed). Didn't go in the water park. I stood in the mad mouse line for two hours. A little girl puked right before we got on and they had no cleaning supplies for 30 minutes. Why don't they have it there already? I don't know. My children really wanted to go on this ride and now they are having a heat stroke and we have to buy an 8 dollar water. Update: A really nice girl named Nayasa(I think was her name), was extremely nice and helped find cleaning supplies, she also cleaned the puke up, get this girl a raise!! I've never even left a review before, but this experience was so bad that I had to. I went to ValleySCARE expecting a fun night with my family, but one of the clowns said something really inappropriate to me. I said "I see you, bud," when he was trying to scare me, and he replied, "No really, I have eyes too -- you belong in the special class." That comment honestly hurt. Making fun of people with disabilities or saying stuff like that isn't part of the scare -- it's just cruel. I have a friend in my math class with Down syndrome, and hearing something like that made me feel sick. Always a good time at Valley Fair! Opening weekend and it was busy with school field trips, but that will lessen over the next week or two. The Snoopy world is perfect for my 4 year old and timid 7 year old and my 9 year old goes on all the rides! Such an easy way to entertain your kids. We went for Valleyscare and it was so fun! We do recommend getting the fast pass which really cut the line time for both the haunted houses, and the rides. Lots of activities that are not ride related as well. Plenty of food options are open. There is a game section where there are guaranteed prizes as well! With a couple of hockey games cancelled during my vacation thanks to the scariness that is the Omicron variant, I had to find some things to do that were safe. I went on my Groupon app and found Christmas in Color, a drive-thru festive lights show. Perfect! Tickets were originally $40. Groupon had tickets at $29 with an additional discount. I ended up paying $22. Yay! I redeemed my Groupon online on the Christmas in Color site. I got an online ticket with a QR code. I had a 6 pm entrance time. I had no problem taking my time driving over to Valleyfair, which is an amusement park. I had never been here, so it was nice to check out a different look and feel to the place. The park is usually open in the summertime. I pulled up to the window and got a helpful man. He scanned my QR code and gave me a red package. I thanked him and began my drive-thru tour. This lights show was amazing. Christmas music was synchronized with the light displays to create such a fun experience. It was impressive! It was recommended that you set your car's FM channel to 87.9. If your FM reception was shot, you could hear the music through the speakers scattered around Valleyfair. I went on a fairly warm evening for Shakopee. It was 5°C. I had no issues having the window down to take photos. The characters were cute and enjoyable. From sweet gingerbread folks, to penguins and polar bears, you saw the enormous effort and thought made strategically placing them around the drive-thru path. The tunnels were fun to drive through, too. If you're sensitive to blinking or flashing lights, you may want to avoid this event. Otherwise, this tour was a ton of fun while keeping you safe during a pandemic. This tour took me 45 minutes to get through everything. None of us were going at a crazy pace. I was happy paying what I did for this tour. I didn't open the red package while taking this tour. When I got back to my hotel room, I took a look at it. The man gave me the VIP package. I had ordered the regular one. Maybe the place needed to get rid of them. The package contained 3D glasses, reindeer noses, candy cane-like lights, Hershey Kisses and mints, a car air freshener, and string Christmas lights that you wear around your neck. I am glad that I didn't put on a pair of paper 3D glasses while driving because they were flimsy. I couldn't figure out how to get the reindeer noses to light up. There wasn't a button or a way to switch them on, which was puzzling. I did manage to bring the air freshener, and candy cane and string lights home. They work and are fun! Christmas in Color was highly enjoyable. I'd do it again if I'm in town during the Christmas holidays again. (20) read more

The food was absolutely wasted time. We waited in line for 20 minutes, ordered a hot dog basket and Icee. Waited another 10 minutes then was told it would be another 7 minutes for our food. I always coming to Valleyfair every summer! I am a rollercoaster fanatic. I recommend buying your tickets ahead of time since it is cheaper online and recommend buying the parking pass online too. I recommend carpooling if possible too. There's plenty of parking and you honestly don't need the preferred parking. As far as rides here is what I recommend to go to right away: 1. Wild Thing 2. Renegade - this is very fast and loud so do not recommend for little kids. 3. Steelvenom 4. Corkscrew Rides that can visited throughout the day 1. Excalibur - its in the back of the park so it does get miss 2. High roller - line is always long but it's not worth the wait if the line is very long but it is family friendly. 3. Xtreme swing When it comes to the waterpark, there are lockers there if you want a place to secure your wallet, phones, keys, etc. The locker room is spacious but not the cleanest so recommend wearing your swimsuit before you get there. 1. For rides at the waterpark I highly recommend hurricane falls and it can fit up to 4 people so great for groups. It's really fun but can only have one group go at a time so the line moves slow! Otherwise there's a variety of waterslides, the wave pool, raging rapids. For food there's a variety of foods, there's more variety at the front by the entrance! Return of Valleyscare was a complete failure. I've been coming to this park since I was a kid. Never once have I even been in a line to enter either Valleyfair or Valleyscare until last weekend. Yes there are terrible lines within the park, which was true last weekend too. We left home early to get in the park right at opening, 7PM. The park clearly oversold the event and did not have staffing or preparations hammered out. We waited over an hour just to enter the lot and park our car. Traffic was terrible. Then once in the park, to our surprise the line to get in was hundreds of people deep. No separate lines for online ticket purchases or season pass holders. Just when we thought the line was ending, it wrapped further until the very back of the parking lot. No porta potties or scare actors to entertain you in line like other haunted houses offer. People were peeing in bushes and fighting in line. So many people budging and no staff to enforce the out of control line. We waited another hour in line. Once finally inside, we felt pressured to pay another $85 for fast passes because we only had 2.5 hours left in the park. Even with fast passes, we only made it on 2 rides and missed a few of the haunted houses. Employees were letting 20+ people enter haunted houses at once, so the actors could not reset positions and do their jobs. Many looked exhausted, just standing around. These houses used to be actually SCARY. I came out asking "that's it??" each time this year. Valleyscare has not issued any compensation or even an apology to people who paid money for a top notch experience like how Valleyscare was in the past. I have emailed multiple times and left a Google review. I checked again and they have deleted my review. Bots on Google are leaving 5 star nonsense reviews. Your patrons are not that stupid, Valleyfair. So I'm leaving one here for a better chance of it staying up. Take accountability and stop blaming this on people not arriving early enough. You oversold and gave patrons an underwhelming and frustrating experience to say the least. Do better. read more

purchased 4 admission dining tickets and parking for $300!!!! When we tried to get drink bottles, which I paid $20 each, I was first told he didn't have any bottles and to look somewhere else. Then went somewhere else and was told there weren't any in the WHOLE PARK!!! I ended up with a wristband and 12oz cups with refills. What an incredible waste of cups!!! the help at the several venues we used was sub-par! I believe the training is the problem and the expectations of the employees is lacking. I have managed a shop in an amusement park in Vegas and would never allow the employees to continue working with that lack of integrity. I bought tickets online for 2 days (you have to buy them for specific dates) somehow 2 of my tickets for the second day were used on the first day and I ended up having to buy 2 extra tickets. Costumer service could use an upgrade as the girl kept repeating that fact that she couldn't give me a refund when all I wanted was to use the tickets I had already bought. Very frustrating experience. The food is ridiculously expensive in order to "force" you into buying the dining plan. Parking is $25. Unless you are a theme park enthusiast I would go somewhere else read more

This is a theme park we our lucky to have in our state! We went for the final evening of valleyscare and to be honest the prices were absolutely ridiculous. We ended up buying a season pass because otherwise a day pass for just that evening after fees was almost $72. Compared to the season pass it was a no brainer to upgrade. The food and drink options aren't phenomenal and are incredibly overpriced for how basic they are. We saw a cheese curd bucket for $25 and a appetizer of normal fries for $13. We had a Coors light and one of their blood bag themed drinks and both were over $15 after tip. Definitely expect arena pricing. The rides are plentiful and well maintained and most of the lines weren't horrible but a lot of the lines were obstructed views so you really didn't know how long you were gonna have to wait in line. They had good staff in terms of ride operators and scare actors but I wouldn't say it was the most professional staffing I've ever seen. A lot of the haunted houses had less scare actors than I would've expected. Valley scare was a fun experience and we will be back to ride some rides next summer for sure but it fell a little short of a 5 star experience for us. read more

We've always enjoyed our time at Valleyfair but this year feels different. First, we went on Friday during the day and I understand it was the 1st full day most schools were out but staffing literally was horrible. The ticket window was manned by 1 person and the line was long since everyone with new passes needs a photo taken. Secondly, I found a lot of quick treat locations closed and the only dipping dots location open was out of most items, dirty, and the one employee was extremely rude. A customer asked for spoons since the dispenser was out and he just handed them the bundle to get their own. Pretty unsanitary . We did experience a lot of ride issues but the ones we did ride were fun. Would I go back? Yes. But management definitely needs to look at what could have been done better for a better park experience. They are currently hiring as was posted when we drove out of the park. read more

I have 3 kids under 6, so we mostly stick to the toddler / small kids area and the wave pool. We have season passes. I've always been super impressed with everything. The halloween special was very nice ... amazing how many decorations went into it. A couple months ago, they had a monster truck event, which was super cool as well. I'm pretty shocked at the low rating Yelp has for Valley Fair, but think it's due to a couple things that don't impact us: 1.) must be long lines outside of the little kid area (little kid areas does not have long lines). 2.) expensive if you're not a season ticket holder and just wNt to go for 1 day.
