We get a hotel stay and 6 waterpark tickets for two days. The day we check in and the next day. The kids spend hours here, lots to do for them. The lazy river, kids area, pool area and water slides for older kids and adults. When they get bored with that they hang out in the arcade. They also have a fun magiquest option where you go around the hotel with a wand. Be prepared to spend lots of money here. They do have free swim diapers for babies though! The food is typical fast food, not that great but only option in the waterpark. Expensive but it hits the spot when the kids get hungry. Feel free to pack your own snacks and drinks if you are prepared. We usually just find some seats and set our stuff there, nothing has been stolen yet but they do have lockers available. They provide towels if you are staying at the hotel too. Hotel beds are not comfortable so you won't get much rest but after swimming all day you will be exhausted enough to be grateful for any bed. They do have a bar and other food outside of the waterpark area.

We had a fantastic time at GWL. (Due to the weather, our original plans of going to Cancun…read morechanged.) Our daughters (8 and 10) took full advantage of all of the activities. We purchased the Wolf Pack. They loved MagiQuest! I didn't really understand it but they completed the game and loved it. One night we ordered pizza and it did not disappoint. We appreciated the warmer temperature in the pools:) Kiosks, charging to the room and having our bracelet to scan for purchases and to open our room was nice. A few things that were a little disappointing... 1. The water area had several slides closed for the majority of the time. (otter slides) I know the surf attraction was closed too but that didn't affect us because that is something we would not have done anyway. 2. Your life guards were 100% SPECTACULAR and super attentive; the same goes for the staff who swept and mopped common areas. With that said, I was disappointed that the food area by the pizza place and the pool area didn't seem to have many (or any) staff cleaning or wiping things down. I brought my own wipes to clean the tables when we were on the second level eating dinner. With all the kids present, it shocked me that GWL would slack in that department. 3. And really... why is Dunkin only open until noon?! Y'all would make bank if you stayed open later. We are with our children who are on the GO. We want caffeine:) 4. We thought it was a little strange that our room was never cleaned. We were there for three nights. I had to find someone in the hall to get our recycling and garbage cans emptied. 5. A gym and hot tub would be nice. 6. The kiosks in pool area didn't show tap beer so we had to track a worker down from the back to ask him if that was an option. He said it's on the screen and we told him it wasn't. He came out from behind the counter and he couldn't find it either. He was as confused as we were. 7. $20 a night to park. That's a bit much... Staff was great! Lovie and Oscar were super helpful.

This was my first visit for the purpose of volunteering at USA Swimming Junior National Championship. Parking can be a challenge for visitors. There is a nearby parking garage and very limited surface spaces. The area around the pool was clean. The building although dated to possibly the 70's is in great condition. The majority of the facility is the competition pool used by the University of Minnesota Swim team. The facility is nicely maintained. However, faculty and students can use the pool. The Olympic size competition pool is 50 meters with movable bulkhead, platform diving and well. The aquatic complex consist of approximately 145,000 gallons of swimming capability. The Long Course pool has eight lanes for competition.. The spectator area is expansive and spans the entire length of both sides of the pool and well. The public locker room area is large and pretty clean. There were two malfunctioning items. Great facility and hope to return for another event in the near future.

This is a great center, until it's not. I go almost every single day. I've only ever had an issue twice. The problem is that they have almost no one to address issues. it could be as simple as asking patrons to follow the policy. member services apparently isn't allowed to do this. So, by the time a manager comes, the patrons violating the policy have caught on that you're complaining, and they run away. Then you're told, well they're gone now so....and if you don't accept their answer to basically deal with policy violations and move then why have the policy in the first place. You're even told to ignore those who were giving you a hard time and not following the rules and told "you could just go to another machine" I guess that's true if that wasn't my last one. I was then told, "well there's one other one on the third floor." Suddenly, it became a discussion of buts and should haves and not addressing my concern at all. It's so exhausting as a patron to be put down when I literally just wanted to use a machine when they were basically not using it and reserving it as a group. Only after it was escalated to higher up individuals (beyond - to reiterate - beyond the basic building manager - was my issue at least somewhat addressed. Again, almost always there is no issue, but when there is you won't get much help. I was berated, had eyes rolled at me, and other odd responses. What did they want me to do, escalate the situation with the patrons not allowing me to use an open machine? The reason I'm giving it one star is that this lack of basic support could be a safety issue at some point and demonstrates a weak infrastructure to enforce their own rules.

It is super affordable,…read moreright next to the St. Paul police station- (so it feels very safe), plenty of parking, room to do different activities in separate pools, and did I mention the glizzys at the snack bar?! Only $8 for adults and kids under 2 years old are free! There is a couple mandatory 25 min breaks, but it's a good time to grab a bite to eat. The splash pad stays open if you get too hot or for it the little ones that can't sit still for very long! (Like my son lol). Come early if you want a foldable chair for sun bathing, the place fills up very quick, but there's always usually some room in the back grassy area for you to lay down a towel and cozy up with a good book. If you get hungry, run to the snack bar and they've got multiple options for hot dog toppings and even a meal deal with chips and a drink! The staff are always so kind and they also have life jacket rentals for FREE! (with admission) We will absolutely be spending more hot summer days here!

Dear Municipal Pool,…read more Thank you. I love you. See you next year. XOXO, Katherine B What is it that you want from your public pool? I want a fairly cheap entry fee and lots of seating and a decent sized pool. That's all. Highland has this, and more! Parking, shade, a decent bathroom and concessions. You can bring your own food in. Plenty of space for the little ones to play in the two small pools/splash pads. A good diving board for the bigger kids. (The drop slides aren't really drop slides per se, and they are best for shorter kids) A big water slide...that's truly only ok but who cares. A HUGE POOL. With a HUGE DEEP END. No lifejackets in the deep end, and still a large area where your tweens+ can easily touch. Bring a pool friendly throwing item. (no nerf, just light weight stuff that won't hurt if you get bonked. The lifeguards will tell you)
