Staff is always friendly and helpful. Parents night out haas been awesome. Our kids love the pool and rock climbing walls, as well as the basketball court and turf. The gym is always clean and there is plenty of equipment. This place is a life saver in the winter when it's too cold to get out but our boys need to burn energy. The cafe is on the spendy side, so we don't eat there very often, but we all like the smoothies. The classes I've taken have been excellent. Child care is very good. It's nice that when I travel, I can use other lifetime facilities. For our family, lifetime has been a great investment! Dear Municipal Pool,…read more Thank you. I love you. See you next year. XOXO, Katherine B What is it that you want from your public pool? I want a fairly cheap entry fee and lots of seating and a decent sized pool. That's all. Highland has this, and more! Parking, shade, a decent bathroom and concessions. You can bring your own food in. Plenty of space for the little ones to play in the two small pools/splash pads. A good diving board for the bigger kids. (The drop slides aren't really drop slides per se, and they are best for shorter kids) A big water slide...that's truly only ok but who cares. A HUGE POOL. With a HUGE DEEP END. No lifejackets in the deep end, and still a large area where your tweens+ can easily touch. Bring a pool friendly throwing item. (no nerf, just light weight stuff that won't hurt if you get bonked. The lifeguards will tell you)

It is super affordable,…read moreright next to the St. Paul police station- (so it feels very safe), plenty of parking, room to do different activities in separate pools, and did I mention the glizzys at the snack bar?! Only $8 for adults and kids under 2 years old are free! There is a couple mandatory 25 min breaks, but it's a good time to grab a bite to eat. The splash pad stays open if you get too hot or for it the little ones that can't sit still for very long! (Like my son lol). Come early if you want a foldable chair for sun bathing, the place fills up very quick, but there's always usually some room in the back grassy area for you to lay down a towel and cozy up with a good book. If you get hungry, run to the snack bar and they've got multiple options for hot dog toppings and even a meal deal with chips and a drink! The staff are always so kind and they also have life jacket rentals for FREE! (with admission) We will absolutely be spending more hot summer days here!

That waterslide with the lights and music? Awesome! It's a one of a kind experience. Beyond the waterpark the playground was also great. It's not your average playground; it's big, well designed and has tons of opportunities for kids to explore and play. What really makes Shoreview Community Center stand out is the community. They offer so much more than just a pool and playground. From the fitness center to the skatepark they have created a space for all interests and ages. It's clear they have invested in making a valuable resource for everyone.

Bamboo Bay is much louder than the main pool area due to the fact it's more enclosed and there are sprayers with lots of water all over. The lifeguards do a great job of keeping their eyes on the kiddos cause it can get very very packed in both pool areas and kids of all different ages including adults too! The bathrooms and lockers are great and all facilities are pretty new and kept clean. I do love the spinner to spin clothes after swim time... As a side note, if you're like me and just hung out with other parents while the kiddos swam...it can get very very hot and humid so dress accordingly even in the winter time!

Fishing, Family Fun and Felines…read more Just kidding - don't go bringing your cat here. I just wrote "feline" because I was unable to think of another F word. And no I don't need you to provide me with another F word. TRAILS & FISHING The Kinnickinnic walking trails are pretty extensive and one of the entry points is here in Glen Park. Some of the trails are paved, but not all. I highly recommend for those who love to hike. The bluffs are beautiful and you'll see all kinds of wildlife and not a lot of people. Make sure you check out the historic swinging footbridge. It connects the back of the park and Cascade Street. Bring a camera - there's some great photo opportunities of the South Fork Rapids and the Kinni. Last summer I saw a couple of guys fishing beneath the bridge so I decided to bother them and in doing so I learned that the Kinni is loaded with trout! They asked me not to tell anyone but I can't be trusted with such things. Besides when I got home and excitedly announced it to my husband, he's like "No shit, everybody knows that." o_O FAMILY FUN I'm always surprised there aren't more families hanging here in the summer. There's an outdoor pool, basketball and tennis courts, horseshoe pits, picnic tables, places to grill and a lot of space to walk and play. DOGS This is one of my favorite places to bring the pups. Officially, leashes are required. But I usually luck out with nobody around, so I let them run. Be smart and carry a leash in case others show up. And for god's sake and all that is holy, please pick up after your dog. Crap-filled parks are no fun. LOCATION It's on the south end of town. Follow Main Street through town, go past the Dairy Queen (if you have more willpower than I do) down to Park Street and take a right. It's down a couple blocks on the right.

To help the lifeguards feel more comfortable, I even put life jackets on my children, but it still wasn't enough. Throughout our visit, my kids weren't allowed to swim away from me and had to remain right next to me the entire time, which made it impossible for them to enjoy the pool. As we were leaving, I read the posted sign, which stated that children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent. Since my son is 8 years old, I questioned why this rule was being enforced on him. I was told the sign was a "typo," which was frustrating and confusing. If the posted rules are incorrect, they should be updated instead of expecting guests to follow rules that aren't clearly communicated. I also couldn't help but notice that my family appeared to be the only Muslim family there. I don't know whether that influenced how we were treated, but the experience left me feeling singled out. I hope management reviews how policies are communicated and applied so that all families are treated consistently and respectfully. In the photo :: The life guard who kept telling all the other life guards to look at my kids and make sure they stay within arms reach. We had to follow our kids around the pool and they weren't allowed in middle of the pool due to me not getting in.

Because it is a biofiltered pool, the water isn't as clear as a chlorinated pool, but it still felt clean and well maintained. I came here with some friends the day before the Fourth of July and was surprised it wasn't as packed as it could've been! Some things to note: 1. Bags are inspected upon entry. 2. Outside food and beverages are not allowed (although I had a water bottle and they let it through). 3. There's no changing room onsite, but there's a bathroom that can be used for changing. 4. There's lots of lawn space to spread out. 5. While there's no parking lot, there's ample street parking. Definitely a place to add to the summer rotation :)

It kept my kiddos plenty busy! There is seating for the adults. There is also a gym space for kids to run, balls to play with, mini basketball hoops and items for the little kids to push ride on! There is also a pool to do laps and a gym with equipment, but I'm unsure if those cost extra. You can do birthday parties here! Check the website for additional information!!
