LOVE! I wish I could have spent more time here this summer but for the times I made it in, it was a huge splash! The water aerobics classes are top notch, the lazy river is relaxing and the entire pool space is extremely clean. I find it totally refreshing to be outdoors and the landscaping with the beautiful flowers makes every trip worth it. I cannot wait to make more splashes next season. Thank you to every staff member involved for making each trip so enjoyable.

Main pool area w/zip line and climbing wall to left. Taken while waiting for water aerobics to start, normally not this calm and quiet.

Really enjoy going to water aerobics and water walking here in the summer. Most of these classes are held when the rest of the pool is closed, so it's fairly quiet and can get a decent workout. I would not recommend coming during hot weeks or when groups are outing, it's a mad house and you end up spending half of your day in line to pay. If that doesn't bother you, then go for it!

Toddler slides! Perfect for a 2 or 3 year old!

Best toddler pool area in the twin cities! With a busy 2 year old we have been checking out nearly every splash pad/zero entry/toddler pool in the twin cities this summer. This has far and away been the best! Most pools have slides for big kids, a lap pool for adults, and a only a zero entry pool for toddlers. This pool has a HUGE zero entry pool, big water table, and 4 slides just for toddlers! The lazy river is also lazy enough for little ones. By the second time we went down the "family 4 person" slide together, my two year old was ready to do it on his own. The landing pool was even his size and he could easily right himself to swim away, something other toddler slides have been difficult for him to do the same on. The facility is really nice, lots of chairs, tables, lockers, food options for reasonable prices, and even quite expansive landscaping to top it off. Most of the reviews here complain about terrible lines, which wasn't a problem for me on a Sunday at all; actually it wasn't busy at all as you can see by my photos. Overall, the is my favorite toddler pool around! Well worth the $20 for the family.

Only $8 for adults and kids under 2 years old are free! There is a couple mandatory 25 min breaks, but it's a good time to grab a bite to eat. The splash pad stays open if you get too hot or for it the little ones that can't sit still for very long! (Like my son lol). Come early if you want a foldable chair for sun bathing, the place fills up very quick, but there's always usually some room in the back grassy area for you to lay down a towel and cozy up with a good book. If you get hungry, run to the snack bar and they've got multiple options for hot dog toppings and even a meal deal with chips and a drink! The staff are always so kind and they also have life jacket rentals for FREE! (with admission) We will absolutely be spending more hot summer days here!

I want a fairly cheap entry fee and lots of seating and a decent sized pool. That's all. Highland has this, and more! Parking, shade, a decent bathroom and concessions. You can bring your own food in. Plenty of space for the little ones to play in the two small pools/splash pads. A good diving board for the bigger kids. (The drop slides aren't really drop slides per se, and they are best for shorter kids) A big water slide...that's truly only ok but who cares. A HUGE POOL. With a HUGE DEEP END. No lifejackets in the deep end, and still a large area where your tweens+ can easily touch. Bring a pool friendly throwing item. (no nerf, just light weight stuff that won't hurt if you get bonked. The lifeguards will tell you)

This was my first visit for the purpose of volunteering at USA Swimming Junior National Championship. Parking can be a challenge for visitors. There is a nearby parking garage and very limited surface spaces. The area around the pool was clean. The building although dated to possibly the 70's is in great condition. The majority of the facility is the competition pool used by the University of Minnesota Swim team. The facility is nicely maintained. However, faculty and students can use the pool. The Olympic size competition pool is 50 meters with movable bulkhead, platform diving and well. The aquatic complex consist of approximately 145,000 gallons of swimming capability. The Long Course pool has eight lanes for competition.. The spectator area is expansive and spans the entire length of both sides of the pool and well. The public locker room area is large and pretty clean. There were two malfunctioning items. Great facility and hope to return for another event in the near future.

This is a great center, until it's not. I go almost every single day. I've only ever had an issue twice. The problem is that they have almost no one to address issues. it could be as simple as asking patrons to follow the policy. member services apparently isn't allowed to do this. So, by the time a manager comes, the patrons violating the policy have caught on that you're complaining, and they run away. Then you're told, well they're gone now so....and if you don't accept their answer to basically deal with policy violations and move then why have the policy in the first place. You're even told to ignore those who were giving you a hard time and not following the rules and told "you could just go to another machine" I guess that's true if that wasn't my last one. I was then told, "well there's one other one on the third floor." Suddenly, it became a discussion of buts and should haves and not addressing my concern at all. It's so exhausting as a patron to be put down when I literally just wanted to use a machine when they were basically not using it and reserving it as a group. Only after it was escalated to higher up individuals (beyond - to reiterate - beyond the basic building manager - was my issue at least somewhat addressed. Again, almost always there is no issue, but when there is you won't get much help. I was berated, had eyes rolled at me, and other odd responses. What did they want me to do, escalate the situation with the patrons not allowing me to use an open machine? The reason I'm giving it one star is that this lack of basic support could be a safety issue at some point and demonstrates a weak infrastructure to enforce their own rules.

The only time worth going is 5-8am so it is not packed, and even when packed, it is full of terrible gym etiquette. I am not even talking about cleaning off your machine after using it, which is overkill unless you are leaving sweat marks. But I cannot tell you how many times it would be packed and someone is using three machines at once, on opposite corners of the gym, with no phone, water bottle, towel, or headphones to even indicate the machine is in use. This is the same for people using three different sets of dumbbells while it is packed. Machines being in service for weeks at a time is to be expected, and even people being loud while working out, not a problem. However, even the basics facilities are rough. I went on a Friday and all of their water fountains were not working, no sign, and a bucket underneath one to catch a leak. I tried to fill my preworkout and a staff member told me they shut it off for the pool and he would fix it. He did not, I drank it before he came up to me and it tasted like straight chlorine. If I was a woman I would never go after 8am. The people are rough and unabashedly stare at women squatting. The no guests for basketball rule is a great addition, since the other St. Paul location (my old go-to) was shut down after countless fights and squad cars parked out front. It just sucks paying what ends up to be $35+ a month for a real gym that is not a real gym. At this point I see why people suck it up and go to planet fitness, snap, or anytime, while people who can afford it go to Los Canpeones or Lifetime.

Buyer Beware: Our Experience with A Pool Day in Maplewood, Minnesota…read more We are sharing our personal homeowner experience with A Pool Day in Maplewood, Minnesota, so other potential pool buyers can make an informed decision before spending a significant amount of money. We hired A Pool Day based on their representations that they performed quality work and stood behind their product. In late 2022, we paid A Pool Day over $100,000 for an inground pool. Unfortunately, within months of installation, we began experiencing serious problems. In Spring 2023, an area near the swim out in the deep end caved in under the liner. When we contacted Chad Christner with A Pool Day, his response was essentially, "Well, you don't have to have this repaired." Since the area had caved in, of course we requested that it be repaired. The repair required A Pool Day to remove a significant amount of water, pull back the liner in that area, fill in the dirt, and repair the vermiculite. It is important to note that A Pool Day was also the company responsible for opening and closing our pool from Fall 2022 through Fall 2025. By early 2026, after only a few seasons of use, our pool failed and became completely unusable. When Chad Christner came out to look at the damage, he appeared to place blame on the paver company, even though the pool failure has nothing to do with our paver patio. He also stated that they experience approximately 4-5 pool failures per season. For a company that has only been in business since around 2020, that statement was very concerning to us. After repeated attempts to get answers and a path forward, we did not receive the timely follow-through we expected. On April 15, we sent A Pool Day an email expressing our frustration, including the fact that Chad had previously told us information would be provided by a certain date, but there was again no follow-up. We were also very troubled by a comment Chad made while standing in our garage, implying that because he believed we had a "nice house," we should simply be able to pay for the repairs ourselves. He had no knowledge of our finances or personal circumstances. In our opinion, that comment was unprofessional, offensive, and completely inappropriate. At this point, we decided not to move forward with A Pool Day due to our concerns about the quality of the work, lack of responsiveness, and overall handling of the situation. We hired an experienced leak detection company that has been in business for over 30 years, along with another pool company recommended by a realtor who sells multi-million-dollar homes in the area. We can also share the much higher quote we received from A Pool Day compared to the seasoned professionals we are now using. We paid for what we believed would be a quality pool and professional service. Instead, after only a few seasons, we were left with a failed, unusable pool, and no meaningful resolution from the company that installed and serviced it. In today's market, homeowners have many choices. Based on our personal experience, we would strongly caution others to think carefully before choosing A Pool Day for an inground pool installation or any other service they offer.
