The Great Rivers Water Park at the Oxford Community Center is a really nice facility. There are plenty of fun things to do for all ages. There's a kids pool with small slides, climbing ropes, fountains, waterfalls and whatnot. There are lounge chairs and tables for stashing your stuff or taking a break. For older kids and adults, there's a lap pool, diving board and two very large slides that are super fun even if you're grown up. The water in the kids pool was warmer than I expected but my daughter still got purple chattering lips for whatever reason after 20 minutes. The lap pool is much colder as it's for exercising.
I am not a lifeguard so perhaps it's not fair of me to comment but I was really unimpressed with the lifeguards. They looked so young and because they were young, they were TINY! I'm taking 5 ft 5 inch guys that probably weighed 100lbs or less. They were also wearing clothes (tees, pants, socks, etc.) and I felt like that was inappropriate. I know they could probably rip off some clothes quickly in an emergency but, in an emergency, seconds count. If they are too cold to just wear a suit, maybe the facility is too cold for swimming. I think if you're an adult and you need help in the deeper pools due to a slip on the diving board or other situation, you're going to be on your own.
I also loved the sauna in the pool area. It was so nice to warm up.
They have mens, womens and family locker rooms. The family locker rooms are awesome because you can get everyone ready, while still being together and having privacy. Lockers are available but bring your own lock.
Bring flip flops. The floors in the locker rooms are icky.
