KIDS AT HEART Anyone from 2 to 92 can have a blast at Mall of America's indoor theme park. Located in the center of the USA's largest mall is Nickelodeon Universe, a sprawling 7-acre amusement park covering 3 floors.  It's open year-round from 10am to 9pm with reduced hours on Sundays, and tickets can be bought online or in-person. I came here once in 1998 as a kid (back then it was called Knotts' Camp Snoopy) and in 2026 I returned with my wife and kids of my own.  Despite a colorful rebranding in 2008, this place seems frozen in time and looks virtually the same as when I visited 28 years ago.  Wow! We took advantage of specially priced "toddler Tuesdays", where kids admission is only $16.  A full day adult wristband is $52 but specially marked 'deal days' bring this down to $42.  Important note: if you have a kid under 48", you can go on rides with them as a designated chaperone and not have to pay!  This is HUGE and saved us $40 since my wife got to ride for free. There's enough attractions inside Nick Universe -- 26 in total -- to fill up an entire day.  I've delved into each of the major coasters plus the outstanding Log Chute (legitimately one of the best in the country) with separate reviews, but here's a brief summary. * Pepsi Orange Streak: a custom steel family coaster with a mesmerizingly long train, and one of the OG rides here * Fairly Odd Coaster: a chaotic spinning coaster with a decent amount of G-forces (beware the slow dispatch times) * Avatar Airbender: a brief U-shaped ride with a funky surfboard train and spinning seats * Spongebob Squarepants Rock Bottom Plunge: an intense roller coaster with 3 inversions that nearly scrapes the glass ceiling * El Circulo del Cielo: a large Ferris wheel delivers a relaxing ride and offers great views of the park * Shredder's Mutant Masher: an inverting 'Frisbee' ride with a Ninja Turtles theme, great for teens * Log Chute: a STELLAR log flume with a super long ride time and wonderful Paul Bunyan theme that doesn't soak you My 5yo son loved the Big Rigs, Crazy Cars, Diego's Rescue Rider, and Guppy Bubbler.  Our 2yo daughter enjoyed the Adventure Bay kids play area but kept her distance from most of the rides.  Swiper's Sweeper was a surprise hit, a 'whip' style ride where small cars on an oval track drift around tight curves. Staff were ~incredibly~ friendly and cut us plenty of slack when I brought my son with me on a couple rides that weren't part of the Toddler Tuesday discount wristband (oops!)  They waved us through and said, "don't worry about it, have fun!"  Big kudos to them for grace and understanding; this went a long way towards a 5* day. * TL;DR * It's always 72° and sunny inside Nickelodeon Universe, perfect conditions for fun. This amusement park is home to a plethora of rides including 5 roller coasters (1 kiddie, 3 moderate 'thrill' coasters, 1 'extreme' coaster), a Ferris wheel, bumper cars, a fantastic log flume, a drop tower, a swing ride, a dark ride shooter, and lots of smaller attractions. While I can't comment on the quality or cost of food within Nick Universe, I do feel that we got a great value for admission.  We felt safe and the ride operators we encountered were very kind.  The natural sunlight gives this park wonderful energy year-round. We spent a day at Nickelodeon Universe inside the Mall of America, and it was an absolute blast. The park offers a great variety of rides for all ages, from gentle attractions for younger kids to more thrilling rides for older children and adults. Our 5-year-old son had the time of his life and wanted to ride every attraction he was tall enough for. The park was clean, well organized, and easy to navigate, making it a very enjoyable experience for our whole family. We were fortunate to visit in the middle of the week, so there were virtually no wait times for any of the rides. That allowed us to experience far more attractions than we would have on a busy weekend. If you're visiting the Mall of America with children, Nickelodeon Universe is definitely worth adding to your itinerary. Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America is one of our daughter's favorite places to play! We usually visit on weekdays since it's less crowded, making it easier to enjoy the rides without long waits. One of the best deals is Toddler Tuesday, where ride wristbands are just $15.99 + tax for select Junior and Family rides. The wristband is valid for 5 hours, which gives you plenty of time to ride, take breaks, and let your little one burn off some energy. We also love that you can make a full day out of your visit. I went to reddit prior to deciding if I wanted to try the rides as I wasn't sure if they were more timid or thrill rides. You can either pay with tickets for rides or an unlimited wristband. We decided on the unlimited as it was about $50ish plus tax. I did read locals can get deals at Costco too. I visited on a Monday evening. In a 2 hour time span we rode 11 rides. The longest we had to wait was one ride cycle. It's nice that they have lockers in case you did some shopping prior to going on the rides. They offer 2 sizes of lockers too. My favorite ride was Pepsi Orange streak. We ended up riding it 3 times. The 2nd row was super fun. My second favorite ride was the log flume. Reddit rates this as the top ride here. You will get wet! We rode this one 2 times in a row. Don't underestimate the spongebob rock bottom plunge. I may have dropped some f bombs on that one as it was intense. The fairly odd parents coaster had me a little nauseous with all the spinning. We had to ride some calmer rides in between: the ferris wheel (which actually went pretty fast for a slower ride) and fly with appa. Brain surge and tmnt you can control how much you spin. I kept it easy on the tmnt one and didn't spin at all. 2 hours was plenty of time for us. I definitely feel like we got our money's worth. Spectators/non-riders can feel included here as there is no cost to just walk around the area. They have a decent amount of seating throughout the park. read more

Great experience for the Family! Our 2 year old loved it. This was a fun way to escape the cold and also who knew an indoor amusement park would work (beats all the elements!) Plus, if you go for an all-day pass, you could take breaks, go shopping, even go to Minneapolis for a meal and head back for more rides and fun. Lines are manageable, staff is extremely personable and friendly, and some of the rides are quite advanced so do not underestimate this theme park. Minneapolis is our new home, and I couldn't be more excited about this place. If you have kids (of all ages), this is a great place to spend the day. The rides are super fun with the kids, and you can easily spend a whole day here (and more). My son is obsessed with the paw patrol playground - so cute! It can get pricey, but it's totally worth it. I love that it is indoors so I don't have to worry too much about the elements. Also, the fact that it's inside THE mall of America adds more reason to come to this place. My only downside is that we haven't really found a good place to eat inside the mall. But we will be exploring little by little, so I'm hoping we find a good go-to. Home sweet home! read more

Below zero weather in Minnesota on a Sunday brings everyone to Nickelodeon Universe! Came here with the fam for my grandson's birthday. Was able to get tix at a reduced rate at the local warehouse store and good thing -it's a bit expensive for an all day ride pass! They do have a bunch of super fun rides-for kids and adults. It's free to walk around but you will need to purchase tickets or an unlimited ride pass to get on the rides. Each ride is valued differently so if you know you would ride all the options, the unlimited pass may be more economical. There are rides of every age group and a little Paw Patrol themed play park for the toddlers. The night time was a bit sketchy but they day time definitely felt safer. My kids had a blast...stayed from open to close! We came on a Sunday, so the park closed a few hours earlier than usual, but the unlimited rides wristband was still the same price, which felt a little off. That said, my kids loved it and didn't want to leave, even after a full day. The glass-covered roof lets in a lot of sun, so it got pretty warm inside...especially while waiting in line for the log ride. That line was rough. And of course, someone cut in front of us, pretending to chase their kid, then just stayed up there. Super annoying. It was also really crowded, and a bunch of food stands were closed, which made grabbing a quick bite kind of a hassle. On a more personal note: I'm a chunky girl and was able to ride a few rides with my kids. I played it safe by scoping out whether someone my size (or bigger) fit before I got in line. It would've been really helpful if they had tester seats outside the ride lines. Just saying. It's an amusement park inside a mall! Is it any good? The answer is yes, it is pretty good. No, they don't have any hypers like you'd have at Valleyfair or a Six Flags park, but they do have a good selection of coasters, and not just for kids but for all ages. These include a thrilling Eurofighter SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge, a spinning coaster Fairly Odd Coaster, a surf coaster Avatar Airbender, Pepsi Orange Streak, and their kids coaster Back at the Barnyard Hayride. Additionally, they also have some pretty good flat rides. They are also supposed to have a pretty good log ride, but we could not experience it because it was closed for all of our visit. Plus, the fact that this is all indoors means they cannot be rained out, which was great considering the day we came on had on and off rain all day. Despite the forecast and the fact that we came on a Sunday, the lines were never long. Also, the mall location means you have plenty of good food options just a short walk and elevator or escalator ride away. Last, but not least, only riders need to pay for a wristband, so if there are some people in your group that don't want to ride, they don't need to pay for admission. So, would I recommend going to Nickelodeon Universe? The answer is wholeheartedly yes. While the coasters may be not be as tall and thrilling compared to what you can ride at Valleyfair because they have to fit indoors, they are still very fun and you will have a good time regardless of the weather. read more

I miss the old times when this was Camp Snoopy. Nickelodeon universe is cool though. I go here from to time to celebrate birthdays or just a night out for the kids in my family. Every now and then we get good deals or free passes for rides. I haven't gotten on any of the rides in years but always fun to watch the kids enjoy it. During the week it's pretty slow and many of the vendors aren't open but it's almost always busy & chaotic during the weekends or holiday breaks. The gift shops are cool, sometimes they have decent deals going on. There's a spray paint shop inside the park as well, only open on weekends. I got a shirt done for my birthday. She had an absolute blast on the rides! Most of the staff was pretty nice and cheerful. What a FUN place! We love to take our kiddo here when we're looking for something to do on a weekend or a holiday. You can't go wrong with taking kids here especially on a cold winter day. You can either buy a wristband with points or an unlimited wristband for the day which has to be worn by a participant. There are kiosks all over the amusement park to check the status of points or buy more points or an unlimited wristband. On this particular day which was a Sunday in January. We took Kim for his birthday! It was quieter on this visit than other times I've been...that was nice since he rarely had to wait very long for a ride. We shared a point wristband between the kiddos. Rides: we went on both bunker car rides (bigger kiddos vs little kid version), hayride roller coaster for littles, carousel, big roller coaster, TMNT ride, train ride for littles, big rig, blues clues ride and a bunch more! They were all great except at one point we wanted to do the carousel again but it was shut down for some type of maintenance and the blues clue puppy that my son picked didn't seem to fly. You can purchase either points in which each ride costs a certain amount or points or you can get the unlimited play wristband to I believe even season passes. Do be aware if you've got multiple kiddos the unlimited play wristbands do add up quickly in cost. My friends rode the log chute ride and had a blast. Unfortunately the rest of us who were spectating had a pretty miserable time waiting an hour and a half until our friends got onto the ride. The line for this particular ride is very very deceiving, only a small portion of it is visible to the outside, and since it is a water ride, we didn't have any form of contact with our friends to see where they were at in line because we had their phones. I've heard they used to have estimated wait times for the rides, but it looks like they've done away with this. I really think it would improve everyone's experience if they would add this back so riders know what to expect. read more

Great for young kids! I have wanted to visited MOA all my life but I'm not much of a retail shopper and we didn't travel much as a child. Also, I'm more of a thrift store/bargain hunter. So I've waited literally years, until I have a child old enough to enjoy not necessarily shopping, but The Nickelodeon Universe/Lego store. And he did. I was pretty nervous and expected the mall to be overhwlming and confusing, but if you use the directories it's not. And, Nickelodeon Universe and most of the kid-friendly things are on level 1 right in the middle. It's hard to miss, I promise! My son just turned 6. Prior to arriving, I'd done all the research and had made up my mind to purchase all day passes for my husband and son (I am pregnant and can't ride). But when we arrived I learned the most amazing thing, chaperones for the little ones are free! So we spent just over $20 to get tickets, which ended up getting us through just fine because he was scared to ride most of the rides. We got there about 11 a.m., left around 3, and had a really great time. By the time he'd warmed up to the rides a little bit, so we could have continued, but we had other things to do. I'm just really glad this is the way we went about it, without investing in a bunch of all day wristbands ahead of time. I recommend picking up a Nickelodeon Universe brochure. It tells you how many points all the rides are. 3 is usually the lower age rides. It's also free to walk around and look at the rides so you can get an idea of how many 'points' you need for the rides you might ride. My son only rode three: race cars, bumper cars, and the Bubble Guppy ride. We also played in the arcade, checked out the M&M, walked around over and over, and spent lots of time building legos. We also checked out Lids, ate at Rainforest Cafe, and did a little shopping. If you plan to eat at a restaurant (most are on the top level), drop by and put in a reservation. Our wait for the Rainforest Cafe was long, even after 1 p.m. They texted us when our table was ready. Had I of known it worked this way, I would have made the reservation way earlier to avoid the hangries. Also, for all you couponers, I had a terrible time finding much more than $1 off at Amazing Mirrors. It was also suggested to get a MOA coupon book for $9 (but half price coupons can be found online). However, I opted to save my money since our focus was food and fun, not shopping. Enjoy! read more

Ok so let me start by saying I came here for a Christmas party and the company rented out the entire park. There were no lines. The food and drinks were included so my experience was great! I'll review the rides! The SpongeBob was the best coaster! Flying Over America was really, really, cool! Now the Fairly Odd Parents Coaster, NEVER AGAIN! That ride was insanely chaotic! If the seats didn't spin around it would've been ok but they do and issa no for me in the future! I'd definitely come back! Sizeable park inside of MOA and worth it, as long as you have enough time, energy, and young kids that this is geared towards. There are a few roller coasters and other rides for adults, but many (if not most) are for little kids-hence the Nickelodeon theme. They have Toddler Tuesdays with $14 wristbands and Costco sells unlimited wristbands in sets of 2 for heavily discounted price, as well. There are self-serve kiosks if you buy day-of. I highly recommend going right when they open. We arrived around 10:15 am on a summer Monday and had zero wait for any ride. We went to lunch and upon our return every line was insanely long and it was just crowded in general and difficult to navigate the tight spaces between rides. The log chute ride wasn't open until after lunch. Not sure if this is the norm? I highly recommend waiting until the end of your visit to go on this ride, as you will get wet. Bring towels to sit on and have them waiting in your car. If you plan to go to the Paw Patrol Adventure City playground, make sure that you bring socks for your kids. We had to buy some in a nearby store. Overall, so many well-maintained rides and surrounding shops, sweets, and activities that will catch the eye of any kids in your group. Visited Nickelodeon Universe with my family and it was sooo much fun. The kids had the time of their lives, and I have to admit I had just as much fun. They had a variety of rides that catered to all ages. From adventurous rides to more laid-back attractions there was something for everyone. Even on a Saturday, the lines were reasonable. The ticket prices were not bad at all. It's pretty cool to find a place that provides so much entertainment without breaking the bank. Our personal favorite was the SpongeBob ride! Oh to be a kid again! I visited MOA during a work trip and of course I had to check out Nickelodeon Universe. Living in Los Angeles-- $49 for an unlimited wristband here is a steal! Yes it's kid-oriented, but people of all ages can enjoy the rides :) It was busy on a Sunday afternoon but the lines went by pretty quick. My fave is the log ride, but beware you will get splashed. This place was just wonderful..every Nickelodeon kid's dream! There was a ton of great rides and while it's aimed more towards the 5-8 year old crowd, there was still a good amount of things for older kids/adults to enjoy. I went with my 14 year old daughter and she enjoyed some rides and carnival games. We went on a Friday/Saturday right when they opened and there were virtually no wait at any ride. Not enough things for a teen to spend the day, but it was still fun. The wristband is also good for three days - which is a steal! The only downside is if you only want to go in one or two rides you still need to buy the $45 wristband. There's no way to just get on one or two rides, which kinda sucks but since we went there three days I figured the wristband was worth the purchase. The reason for the lack of star is because there were like 3 attractions that were unavailable all three days we went! And they were things older kids/teens could enjoy like the zip line, swings and one other ride. Soo disappointed because we wanted to zip line. I had three 14 year-olds with me on Easter Sunday with 2 hours to kill before our flight home- they had a blast on the ropes course and zip line! Spending an end-of-summer day at the MOA with two grandsons (15 and 11), and I bought them both an unlimited wristband. That didn't turn out so well for us. The 11 year old was too nervous to go on the adult rides, the 15 year old didn't want to go on the "lame" rides or go alone on the adult rides. (And I'm not a fan of amusement rides any longer.) So between them they went on 7? rides. Those were pretty expensive rides. One other reviewer mentioned Valley Fair, which would have a better variety of rides for all ages. Nickelodeon Universe would be a great day for a younger kid as most of the rides are geared toward them. Just be prepared to have ringing ears when you leave at the end of the day. This review is for the Log Chute ride only. The line forms inside a very long, narrow, and maze-like indoor space that is claustrophobic, stuffy, hot, dark doesn't allow you to see more than around 15 ppl ahead of you, and doesn't make it clear that you will be waiting in there for at least 45 minutes. The entire ride lasted under 2 minutes, and the wait was NOT worth it. Extremely deceptive and designed to be so. Children were crying, adults were wilting, and the whole thing was like a bad joke. read more

Of course, I would be remiss to not mention that I've been coming here since it was Camp Snoopy in 1994 (humble brag) It sure has changed a lot, but then, not at all. This weekend we took my two kiddos 3&6 to check out the rides. As a mom, and previously, a child, it was so cool to see them get so excited for so many rides that I did when I was their age. From bumper cars, to the swings, blue clues, bubble guppies and diegos school bus there were many rides we could ride at their height limits. Some things to note: -Even on the weekend, some rides were not open, attendants spend 50 mins at each ride then swap for rides that are closed -Rides are between 3 & 6 points, depending on how long you want to be there, it might be more cost effective to get a day pass. -We bought 84 points, and we used them in about 3 hours. -Chaperones (aka parents) will ride for free, so we rode a ton of rides for free, or else the 84 points would have gone fast. Overall, we had an absolute blast!! My husband rode the big kid rides like the roller coasters and brain surge by himself and really enjoyed himself. I love that this park exists and they keep everything safe and clean. For almost 30 years I have enjoyed this special place and what they do for holidays like calling it Nickelodeon Boo-inverse. He recommended fly over America a little bit more than fly over Hawaii and we had the best time of our lives and felt like kids again. So being an out of towner who had never been to Nickelodeon Universe in any of its form, I kind of walked in not being sure what to expect. We had family move somewhat nearby the area, so when we had been planning on coming home from a visit we decided to extend our trip by a day or two to check out MOA and Nickelodeon Universe before my youngest aged out of interest. One thing I wasn't 100% sure of, cause it would have altered how I got wristbands for my family, was that you don't need a wristband to enter the area ... Like you would need a ticket to even enter other theme parks ... They scan your wristband as you are about to get on to the ride. So it's an open area in the middle of the mall. So if you have two adults & one or both don't want to ride any rides ... and of course your kids are old enough or willing to get on them all without you, you don't need a wristband. I don't suggest it for those with little kids possibly around 5 years old or younger who some of the rides require an adult for. Though for me having a teen who was willing to ride everything with their sibling I could have done better budgeting wise just buying points for the couple things I was actually interested riding. When we went it wasn't crowded but it was a Monday/Tuesday. Even during the summer. It made it easy for the kids to ride things mulitble times back to back. A few of the rides, Avatar & Shredder, had to shut down a couple times the second day but usually came back online not to much later. Many of the snack booths or things like character meets were not happening. We didn't get a chance to check out if the Paw Patrol one advertised actually happened but we didn't hear anyone talking about it. For any theme park I can not stress how important it is to check height requirements, and what the rides are before you go. I heard many kids be sad they couldn't ride a spongebob ride or Ninja Turtle ride due to height requirements. As well online they have what each ride costs point wise. Rides cost anywhere between 3-6 points depending on the thrill ride level. It will help you decide if points or wristbands work better for you, and if you would need one as well. Also, watching ride videos online helps show thrill level. Prior to going I had bought a 2 day wristband for $59.99 online for myself, my teenager and my youngest. 2 day being only $10 more than 1 say ... so if you plan on being at MOA doe more than one day, it will help you have the chance to do more rides or ride favorites again the next day. There is also a point pass that makes every 3 points $3.80 that you can buy in various increments. Though buying more doesn't discount the amount you pay per point. I did find out later that it is by technicality cheaper to buy the all you can ride passes in person to save the online processing fee. I did not check if you could just buy points if your kiddo was only wanting to do few rides though, due to interest or size. I personally just rolled the fee & tax into my budgeting to see how many rides we would need to ride to break even or get more for our money. Based on what I paid for a 2 day pass with fees I think it was 9 or 10 rides per person based on the 6 point rides or 18 or 19 per person for the 3 point rides to break even. So with my kids wanting to re-ride things even in the same day, it worked out for us and they even helped me make my count by riding more than that amount. Staff was about what I'd expect out of something like this. I think I only encountered 5 ride operators across 2 of the rides seeming to be in a good mood. But none of the ride staff was rude by any strech ... just kind of the I'm at work and making sure I do what I need to for the ride kind of thing. The thing that was a bit more irking was how stoick and uncommunicative their various store staff was at all of the stores we went into. The kioask wouldn't scan our qr code for our wristbands, so I had to go into the store to get our wristband. The girl helping us NEVER SAID A WORD. Another time one of my kids needed an ice pack and they told the folks over the radio we needed a bandaid. It was really odd, cause most everywhere else in the mall, everyone was at least somewhat friendly or helpful for what I'd expect out of retail. Especially when we did stuff like the escape room, mirror maze or make your own M&M activities in other areas of the mall.
