Whenever I am in town, I take my kids to this mall and stock up on whatever clothes or items they need from a mall. This place is always kept well and clean. I've seen many stores come and go but sometimes it's nice to see a familiar place when I come here. The food court has a good variety of food choices, so it helps if you have a group that want different things. This area is not particularly my favorite. It seems a little unkept and dingy. Maybe an update and a little bit more lighting will bring it back to life. read more

The Valley River Center in Eugene, OR is a great place to go for all kids on different stores and I'm sure one of them you'll find something you like. They have a food court with various styles of food, even Cinnabon. Every time we go into a shop, we're always greeted and they've got great service. Most ask if we're looking for something in particular or if can help us find something. There's a movie theater there, the city bus runs a route to the Valley River Center. Even during college football, you can park there and take busses to the home games at no charge. If you're looking for stores like Bath & Body, Victoria Secret, JC Penny, Macy's, or food or just a movie, you'll like Regal Cinemas. read more

Not really a mall fan but VRC has historically not been too bad as far as they go, and they've kept it up and modern over its many years--it doesn't look like a decrepit, dying mall or anything. It's not a sprawling mall that will take you hours to make your way through. However, they've struggled to attract anchor stores for years since various ones have closed. The two long-term ones are JC Penney and Macy's on the other end. They also have your various mall staples like Hot Topic, Bath & Body Works, and so on; you'll also find an outlet of The Duck Store right outside JC Penney. There are about 90 stores in all. The food options aren't bad, though much of what you're used to seeing at a mall, including Cinnabon which is always a temptation. There are a few full service restaurants here as well, and the Regal cinema is here too. Parking is ample but there's also an LTD (bus) transit station here as well so it's easy enough to get to whether you have a car or not. There's also pedestrian bridges near the mall over the river to the Whiteaker neighborhood. read more

I grew up in Eugene, VRC was where we used to hang out when we were kids. I visited from out of town over the weekend and came upon a sign for Midget Wrestling. Honestly, I wouldn't expect anything less from this community. This is one of the many struggling shopping malls in America. There's a serious lack of quality anchor stores at this mall to choose from. There's a Mac Store, Abercrombie & Fitch, Eddie Bauer, a giant Victoria Secrets, and a Macy's and JC Penny, Duck Store and a few other small shops. Not a huge selection, however, this is a small college town, so, you shouldn't really expect to have a giant shopping mall with tons of high end stores. read more

We go to the mall all the time. Recently had a altercation with the security, my daughter has a service dog and we usually take him there during the days there is bad weather to get some exercise. Today we had an encounter with another person with a pet dog on leash. She got control of the situation in less then 5 seconds, but the security guard decided to come over and flex. Commenting if we did not get the issue solved we could be kicked off the premise. It is pretty bad that the security guards are not educated about service animals and the rights of the disabled. Recommend they provide some training, and get off the segway scooter and stop acting like they have a badge. I fully understand there role, but getting in the face of a teen girl and her dog is a bit much. read more

I like the mall and everything in it but, they have guys asking to clean your shoes and whatnot trying to promote their business but they don't take no for an answer and still try grabbing your foot and everything even if you say no, then when you walk away after refusing that speak badly about you. I won't be around that area of the mall anymore. read more

I have always enjoyed this mall. It's definitely better than Gateway. Although, that's not terribly difficult to be better than Gateway. My husband and I have some favorite stores we always go to. Macy's, The Duck Store, Game Stop, and The Body Shop. We do like to wander around during the holidays and check everything out. They have a much bigger selection of stores compared to Gateway, so there's something for everyone here. I always find stuff. Parking is usually pretty painless, which is a big deal to me. Security is always pretty helpful and cool. I've accidentally parked in a weird spot and gone to a movie, realizing when it was over that everything was closed and locked up. They've let us go through as they were locking up, and even given us a ride to our vehicle once when I had done this. It was in the middle of December and cold, so I really appreciated this! All of these things stand out to me when I am deciding where to shop at. I've never had a bad experience coming here, so there's no complaints. It's not a big mall by any near means, and there's always improvements that can be made, new stores to bring in, etc. But it suites my needs pretty well. read more

I wanted to buy two dresses at Pennys. I had a coupon they emailed to me for an extra30% off. Last time I tried to use a coupon they told me it didn't apply to my purchase. This time I had a person check before I went to the checkout. She told me it would apply. When they rang my dresses up the checker told me it didn't apply. She also tried giving me a charge card I told her I did not want. I came home and ordered the dresses and the coupon applied with no problem. No more shopping at the store. So disappointed at the treatment I got at the register. read more

A mall is a mall, but this one is pretty legit. Pretty typical mall stores: Hot Topic, Bath and Body Works, Victoria's Secret, other clothing stores, other random stores, etc. but it's still good for shopping! They do have a furniture store even which also rocks. I got one of my couches there! They have a really good and nice Regal Cinemas there as well which I go to all the time. The food court has really good food surprisingly. See my review for Souper Bowls. Lots of sit down restaurants surround this area as well as other shops and even a Petco. Honestly this place blows. Like I hate leaving negative reviews and I'm not trying to be rude, but what the actual ****. How is this the only mall between like Portland and Northern California. Where do people shop for the holidays?! I know it can't be here. I'm a tall woman, and there is literally NOWHERE for me to shop here. I couldn't find anything business casual and had to do all of my clothing shopping during a random trip to Roseville, CA. I'm not expecting this to be like the Glendale Galleria, but come on guys. Why is all the property facing the river all parking lot? Let's utilize this land better, get some hip riverfront eateries, some stores people actually want to shop at, and expand a little. It's INSANE to me how poorly developed this is. I genuinely feel like this place was opened just to fill the 'need' of having a shopping mall, then very quickly forgotten about. Everyone complains about us Californians coming up and ruining everything, but a lot of us enjoy spending money and would really like to inject our evil alien money into the Eugene economy. I gutted this is store that all the tik tokers go to so when my daughter saw it she was so excited. The manager in there was so polite and helpful. You could tell she loved her job and why not it was like stepping back into my childhood. I liked it just as much as my daughter. It had real albums, old school candy, all different treats, shirts, tons of fidgets, I mean everything. The whole vibe was happy and fun so whenever my daughter wants to spend her allowance here I'm all for it. read more

There is not much to say about Valley River Center other than the fact it trumps the trashy Gateway Mall with better parking, stores, and food court. The crowd here is generally different as well, slightly more family oriented than the high school skipping kids on the other side of town at in Springfield. The options will be slightly lacking as it is Eugene after all, but there is more variety here than anyone where else in the city. And as they claim, is apparently the largest mall south of Portland and north of San Francisco. Seeing as Eugene is the largest city between those two, its not hard to imagine. There are some decent department stores here, like the Macy's (formally Meier & Frank), JCPenney, and Sports Authority (formally Copeland Sports). Then there the stores that most mainstream malls will have, like Banana Republic, American Eagle Outfitters, Aeropostale, Gap, etc. And of course, the food court is loaded with your usual suspects like Cinnabon, Arby's, Sbarro, and Subway. Thankfully, there is still some actual restaurants here like Chili's, Kelly's Cajun Grill, and Cafe Aroma. Sadly, the theater (Regal Cinemas) was lagging behind Gateway, as it was old and lacked stadium seating. All in all the parking is nice, the mall is of a decent size and the place is clean and well kept. But apparently ... as I've been informed recently that a new theater is in the works and should address any of the issues I had written earlier. Today, Jan 13, 2024. Literally went in with my wife and our friends to use the restroom, walked around and visited a couple of their shops. Literally as soon as we walk out, one of the security guards (Named Austin) came up to us and said that we were drifting in the parking lot and littering, and that we were banned for 3 months. At first we thought it was playful banter, shrugged it off and headed to the Texas Roadhouse across the street to grab some food. Little do we know this man follows us, as soon as we sit down, we are asked to leave. Confused about the situation we asked why? He told us the same thing again and we were dumbfounded at this accusation. We were escorted out by the restaurants manager and Austin the security guard. We asked him for video footage and a license plate number, he refused to provide any information. This is extremely unprofessional and embarrassing to this company. We had no part of this drifting activity and definitely didn't leave any trash. The false accusation from this individual and his manager is completely unacceptable. Literally just had to use his he restroom, eat at a restaurant, and go spend our money at round1. Thanks guys, love the service. read more

Stopped in here to check out a few things, but found it to be a mediocre mall. There were hardly any people there when I visited. There were a few stores I needed, but I also noticed a number of vacant storefronts. I didn't see much signage or maps, so it took quite a while to find where the bathrooms were. Christina's Phillysteak was the the worst sandwich I have ever had. The meat was dry the sandwich was cold and to top it off my tip was altered on the computer. I only choked down one bite and through the rest in the garbage. It's a shame that that I had to stop by another restaurant before I left town. read more

I reside in Southern California, but I come to Eugene / Springfield every four months to visit. This mall isn't that big compared to the California malls, but it does contains some good stores. The Duck Store is very disappointing, which really doesn't have anything in there. If you need to go to a Duck Store, go to the one located across the street (near the exterior restaurants). This mall has a pretty large food court and a movie theater as well. read more

How you feel about Valley River Center kind of depends on what you are used to. If you are from a big city, it doesn't really hold up to that kind of mall. But if you are from Eugene or city of similar size, I think you will like it. What it may not have in glitz or glamor it makes up for in main stream stores and good size and layout. So sad that this is our mall! I always hoped that when Gotshalks closed we would get a good department store. No such luck! The only time I can get good shopping done is when I go out of town! I am embarrassed when I have out of town friends come and they want to see our mall! Half of the stores are closed! Don't get me wrong, I love Macy's but why is that the only decent department store we get to have?.... Lame!!! And when we finally got the H&M it is small with no selection! Why don't we have a Limited anymore? Bring back the good stores that the girls want to shop at!! How about a Lululemon? Let's make something good come of this mall that is going down hill!! I think even the food court is ridiculous. I like how it used to be back in the day. Seems like there was more seating. I could be wrong. But I thought it was cool. And why did the mall make the Terrace Cafe close? How lame is that!! They made one of the most decent places to eat in the mall close. Stayed overnight in a travel trailer, in the parking lot out the back. Security will issue you an overnight pass (maximum 2 nights) and they'll keep an eye on your vehicle/trailer during the night! Awesome. Obviously no dumping, water or power hook-ups but for a cheap (free!) place to stay that's next to food and stores, this is good for a night. Also there's a river by the parking lot and you can walk/jog/cycle along the path. Quite pleasant. Warning: trains make a lot of noise during the day and night, and they sound very close to this parking lot. Not sure why trains need to blare their horns for 5 minutes at a time, it's like they're having a railroad family reunion... But that's my one and only complaint about staying here. read more

This place is in need of some more anchor tenants. Half of the mall is not even open any more now that Gotshaulks has closed. However I do believe that this would be a perfect location for a new Nordstroms. Not sure why the third largest city in the state still does not have a Nordstroms, but it doesn't. I give VRC 4 stars because if you have been to the pony village mall in north bend OR, you'll feel like your at the worlds largest mall once you go here. Lots of different stores and departments....The food court is weak sauce...good for holiday shopping. I used to drive from coosbay/north bend up to eugene to shop here being its the only place semi close without driving all the way up to Portland. I've been here 5 years, and VRC is still a great place to do some shopping. read more

Unfortunately, my car got keyed while parked in employee parking. I called mall security and their reply was that their cameras didn't work and recommended I park closer, so I did. Lo and behold the next day I received a "$50 ticket." I called and informed them who I spoke to and they said it didn't matter I still had to pay the ticket. I asked if they would then pay for the car damages and they said no and told me if I did not pay, they would tow my car. Thank you VRC for caring about customer and employee safety. read more

Needs an upgrade BADLY on the outside! And on the inside needs more stores to come in to increase business and foot traffic. Since Gottschalks, the terrace cafe, the DMV, Wig n out , the Gap, Aeropostle and now Sports authority have bit the dust, VRC really needs to pick up the slack on getting more business into the mall (even if they have to bring include stores popular in other regions of the country to do it. Heck! I would be open to having a Dillard's in the space where Gottschalks used to be as long as the space gets used again.) read more

This place is pretty great. I grew up in a small town with no mall so this is huge to me. VRC has a HUGE theater in it, cool shops, and an okay food court. The stores are pretty much what you expect but some surprises here and there. There is also great restaurants in the area and a beautiful river near by. Okay...since when does a porn store belong in a mall where there are children? While wandering the mall looking for stocking stuffers, I happened into what LOOKED like a hip gift store from the entrance. The store was full of young people, including children. As I neared the back of the store, however, I ran into a wall of dildos and pocket vaginas...along with a whole ot of HIGHLY inappropriate items for a mall. I am sickened and disgusted...and frankly, I doubt that I will shop in VRC anymore. I love a good mall stroll! I come here on my days off . I go on and do some bra fittings, eat a little sandwich, perhaps enjoy an ice cream sundae (don't tell my weight watchers lol lol ) . I also love to look at the tv's. I've always wanted one of those curved tv's that you can watch 3D movies on. Are the 3D sunglasses sold separately? Honestly if you buy a 3D tv it saves you money in the long run if you enjoy watching 3D at the movie theaters . This DOESN'T have nearly enough stores at it to be considered a good mall. Forever 21, Wet Seal, Abercrombie & Fitch. Oh thats about it. All the department stores here except JCPenney and Macy's go out of business. Macy's has a great cosmetics selection (MAC, Dior, Benefit, plus many more) but the clothing could be better. The lamest food court ever, despite the fact that they tried to remodel it. You can walk around the entire place in five minutes and be done. Go up to PORTLAND if you want to get some serious, fashionable shopping done, since this mall is weak sauce. read more

For a mall this place isn't horrible but I never spend more than an hour here if I have to. There's only two or three stores I shop at in this mall, maybe a couple others when I buy gifts for the holidays. I don't know why there hasn't been many updates to malls around the country, they could be really fun with great atmosphere but usually they are just loud and boring. The movie theater is attached which draws a crowd but after finding a theater in Springfield with luxury seating I never go here anymore. If you need to go to Macy's, the Verizon store or places like H&M then this mall is for you. I tried to get coffee at a little cafe here and after standing in line for 10 minutes and not moving I just walked away. Maybe I just don't like malls in general haha. There is tons of parking and a few restaurants around it. I actually don't know if this place has a food court or not. Across the street from the mall is Ross, Petco and Barnes and Noble. It's also very conveniently located next to the highway. read more
