Stopped by this place for the first time last year. It was referred to me with a very high…read morerecommendation, so the woman I was seeing at the time and I went in (she had been there several times before). For work I had been forced to wear khaki's as part of the my job attire and I had continued to wear them out of habit for a couple years afterwards. I literally owned one pair of jeans I had purchased at Walmart and decided to see what The Buckle had to offer. The irony of a guy named Jake wearing khakis for years was not lost on me (or any of my customers, apparently). My date and I were immediately greeted as we entered the store. We walked up to the front counter to talk to the woman standing there and one of the guys on the floor walked over to listen to why we were there. It wasn't that busy, so we got the attention of both. We explained that I was in dire need of some jeans and the guy on the floor was quick to offer me some suggestions. They have a neat jeans breakdown near the front counter that explains the differences in the cuts on the jeans (I noticed it the 2nd time I was in there). Instead, the guy grabbed a few choices and ushered me into the changing room. Now, I've got to say something about these jeans. One of them is branded as Jake jeans. That sounds perfect for me, right? Well, those are cut very narrow in the groin area. My junk wouldn't fit into these jeans! I dunno who this "Jake" guy is that these are modeled after, but he is giving Jakes everywhere a bad name and starting rumors that we all have small junk! Okay, side rant over. I ended up finding a style of jeans that both my date and the guy helping agreed looked good on me (I'm a terrible judge of that). I've gotten so many compliments on how my butt looks in these jeans it is almost comical. Every woman I meet seems to love them! That being the case, I went in a while later and spoke to a different woman at the front counter who was kind enough to show me their website so I could choose some different colors of the same kind of jeans. These aren't terribly cheap. Coming from someone who only ever had a pair of Walmart jeans, these were far more expensive (around $80). Still, I can't put a price on how well received these look on me. The guy helping us was spot on! I don't walk by the part of VRC very often, but if he is working again, I will definitely stop in to see what else he can do to help out my wardrobe. Oh, and later on, the wonderful woman I was dating ordered me some of their clothes. We stopped seeing each other before I even got them. I spoke to their customer service and they charged a $5 fee, but agreed to take them back AND send me the return label to do so (so the $5 was a partial freight payment, but these would have Buckle twice that to send back). Great customer service all around from the store to their website ordering customer service. I will be back!

There was an employee who greeted me just as I entered and let me know they had some new things in and to let them know if I had any questions. I found a couple of things and the employee helped me with a dressing room. I didn't like one of the items I'd taken in and once the employee was done checking out another customer she looked round and found me a couple other options, which was really helpful and appreciated.

You are da bomb. You helped me and gave me advice and brought me something and then actually told me what looked better and I bought that because you were spot on. Beautiful black girl with blonde dreads and a big smile who loves Harry Potter, you are da bomb because you helped with discounts and we talked and laughed and you just made me smile and feel beautiful too. You complimented me on my outfit that I came in wearing and believe me, you made my day with that compliment. I think you rock. Ok no one think that was racist. I just had to try to identify people because I didn't write down names. Both of these ladies are gorgeous and professional and know styles and are willing to tell you what looks good and to steer you to the right direction *without trying to upsell you* for more money. That is why I come back. I hope a manager is reading this and I hope someone tells these two precious ladies how important they were to this girl today who came in trying to find something stylish for a trip to Scotland. That doesn't mean that many items are wallet-friendly, but if you want to run with the big dogs, then you gotta get off the porch. The Ducks are known for green & UO Yellow (it's a thing; the color even has its own hex & Pantone codes), but that doesn't limit the Duck Store merch. Black, white, green(s), and more are splashed about the top two levels whether clothing, regalia, keepsakes, and lots, lots more. Weather gear (even a $500 'raincoat'), hoodies aplenty, hats, and athletic garb in sizes for men, women, & kiddies is seemingly everywhere. And it ain't just the big sports that are repped, no, you can support men's & women's athletics for any program at UO (shoutout women's lacrosse!). The top level is more specific for women's items, children's items, and the infrequent clearance items. The Duck Store can get cramped, so if you need to escape, upstairs is your play. The downstairs is for actual school supplies, artsy items, and more, reminding us that this IS an actual university and not just a power brand in sporting apparel. Prices are, well, pricey, because good merch costs good money. There are some non-branded items that are more budget-friendly, but the featured stuff has trademark mouths to feed, so pony up your hard-earned nickel. You are not likely to find a lot of help on the floor, or parking, but the stop is worth the time. So: wear green, be loud, and... SCO Ducks!
