I had a root canal done and the doctor was very helpful and knowledgeable. They didn't even charge me for a couple scans because he just wanted to make sure I was good to go and wasn't in it for the money. Front desk ladies were very nice and respectful. Absolutely disappointed. Very unorganized and careless front receptionists. 0 transparency and no care about patients time. I was not seen or examined for my appointment, they told me to wait 10 minutes to be seen but it turned out to be almost an hour wait and when I confronted them about it respectfully, they told me it'd be another 20-30 more minutes. I had to miss hours of my work because of lack of transparency and absolutely no organization. They even lost my referral in another patients files. read more

Got referred to have a root cannal treatment done. Honestly at first it was a welcoming service and totally enjoyed the customer service i was provided. However i have been billed 1200 dollars that were not easy to pay considering my situation, but it was a treatment i had the hopes for in order to help with my gum issue. I expected for this treatment to help with my root cannal issue in my mouth not only to realize that it was a waste of money. I ended up making a payment plan for a treatment that didn't provide any benefit at all. Totally disappointed with what I had to spend and had to pay through the months with my root cannal in the same bad condition. If you think it would be a good idea to get a root cannal treatment done here, I recommend to think it twice and discuss with your provider for further options. read more

I am the genius at 36 years old who thought that I could take up longboarding...And on my 7th day I took a proper face plant and hit my front tooth. It was a weekend and I chipped it and suffered through a weekend of extreme biting pain and got my Google on. I was able to get in that Monday with Dr lally. He evaluated my front tooth and did some testing and no unnecessary scanning and was very honest. That we would have to keep an eye on it and it could go either way but just would take some time and to come back in three weeks and reevaluate. I've had a pretty rough year when it's come to my teeth, two extractions lots of complications a failed root canal retreatment elsewhere, so naturally I was scared to death that I might need another one or I'd lose my front tooth over this unfortunate accident. But the reassurance that if I did I would be in good hands gave me some comfort. Let's be honest- no one wants to need an Endodontist and If you're in need of an Endodontist- chances are good you are in legit pain. That was my story, and my tooth would alternate between no pain and the "holy shit make it stop!" Kinda pain. Like worse than having to spend the day with a religious missionary or pyramid scheme/ time share presentation. My awesome Dentist (Shout out Dr. Ben with Downtown PHX Dental) referred me to Valley Endodontic and Dr. Lally. I called them right away and Erika the super nice staff member scheduled me for three days later, which I was so grateful for. I arrived for my appointment and was warmly greeted by the receptionist and filled out a few quick forms. I didn't have a long wait and was taken back to an exam room and met Maria, one of the awesome techs. Maria was super chill and had jokes on jokes- which I greatly appreciated. Dr. Lally came in and introduced himself by shaking my hand and warmly saying "Hi! I'm Trent". IMHO- when a Doc, especially a specialist introduces themselves by first name- that says a lot about who they are, in the best possible way. I was really impressed by his demeanor and approach. Dr. Lally took some X-rays and explained in detail (but English) what needed to happen and how to go about it. I could not have been more impressed with Dr. Lally and Maria and the care I received. It was painless and easy and I couldn't believe when he said "all done!" Dr. Lally then showed me he X-ray where he had concerns about an infected root. I needed some more images and they have this awesome CT scanner that looks like it was made by Tesla. You stand still and it spins around you. Anyway- long story long- these people are amazing and caring and know their stuff. I can not recommend them highly enough. I am so glad to be writing this review about a wonderful place. The only thing I regret is that I can only give Valley Endodontic Speciallty Group five stars. I would give them ten stars the ultimate! I have bad teeth. Dr. Tonioli has done all my root canals. I have heard so many horror stories about having root canals that I am puzzled. I have never had any real discomfort. Perhaps having a front desk that makes you so comfortable to begin with. They explain exactly what you can expect. Maybe it's the sun glasses they put on you so you don't have that very bright light giving you a headache. Maybe it's that they give you enough pain killers that you have no pain. I don't mind being numb for awhile after the procedure. Better than have them stop being effective during the work that is being done. Whatever, they do it right for you. Funny story. I have had dentists over the years I wouldn't send my dog do to. I can be choosy and I am. Years ago I had my first root canal done by Dr. Tonioli. it was a a very positive experience. (Can you believe anyone would say that about a root canal?!?) When I had to have the latest (plural) done, I drove by the old office to see if I could get Dr. Tonioli to do them. The office was no longer there and I didn't remember the name of the group he worked with. When I called the group my insurance recommended, in passing I said I had had this wonderful Dr Tonioli do the work years ago and don't be offended but I wish I knew where he was so he could do it again. The receptionist laughed and said he was at their central Phoenix location, so why not call there!!! I've heard Dr. Axx, his associate, is great as well. Frankly, Dr. Tonioli is my guy. read more

My doctor was wonderful, but they need work with their schedulers even in two other locations I called they were not good. especially in this place, she made my appointment at 2.00 then they emailed me appointment is at 10.00 on the same day I had. My experience here really doesn't sit right with me. Before my appointment I called and confirmed (twice) that they accept my insurance and was assured both times that they were in network. 6 months after my dental work I received a nearly $1700 bill from them. This was the one and only bill I received, but I got a call from them the next week saying it was the third and final notice and that they would be sending it to collections in a couple weeks. This didn't sit right with me for several reasons but one of which is that I have informed delivery - I see everything being sent to me everyday in an email from the USPS. So even if it was delivered to the wrong address, I would have known to be looking for it. The girl who called couldn't even give me a straight answer about how long I had to pay the bill. I am a working mom and a student so a bill like this is absolutely crippling. I called my insurance certain this was some kind of mistake and they told me that the dentist was out of network. Not only was he out of network, but they have never had a contract with him. I've worked in the medical field and I've never heard of something like this. We knew who we contracted with, what treatments/procedures needed prior auth, etc. I can't imagine it's that different for dental insurance. They wrote off half my bill, but this still seems incredibly shady and unethical to me. I'm writing this more as a warning to others than anything. If you find yourself needing to get dental work here, make sure to call your insurance ahead of time to confirm they are in network, because they certainly cannot be trusted. read more

So, this review is based on my mother's experience with Dr. Tonioli, one of the root canal specialists there. I have accompanied her to a couple of appointments, and both my mother and I have nothing but praise for Dr. Tonioli and his assistants. First, I'd like to say that my mom's tooth problem was a difficult fix. She had to go in four times. Every single time, Dr. Tonioli was absolutely patient and always gave my mother options for the next step in order to correct her problem. My mother's English is also not great, but he was patient and kind enough to write things down for her, allowing her to go home and look things up. On one occasion, he and I talked on the phone after my mother's appointment so he could delineate her options to me, making sure both of us were in the loop, with no lost details. Both he and his dental assistants are so welcoming and warm, just the type of people needed to make patients feel comfortable. Going to the dentist is stressful enough, but having good people taking care of you makes it that much more tolerable. After my mother's tooth problem was fixed, she went back to her general dentist. He took one look at the tooth and said that Dr. Tonioli did a very impressive job. Everything healed up nicely. So, don't just take it from us, even our dentist said he did a great job! So next time you need to go to a root canal specialist, remember Dr. Tonioli! read more

I have no complaint about service performed by the dentist. But I have very bad experiences with their front office / billing staffs. Very unprofessional, unpleasant, unhelpful, and unreliable. You will received surprise bills you should never be responsible for. Then while working it out with your insurance, you will get notices as if you are trying to avoid paying them. No apologies whatsoever when you express your concerns and follow up to get it right. They treat you as if you are interfering their days. You have been warned. UPDATE: I went to another dentist to get my crowns. That's when I learned the bad news! The gentle dentist drilled and put my implants in too near to the teeth in front of it! As a result, they couldn't get a proper molar size crown. Now I have to live with a pre-molar size in the place of molar! Don't make that trip! read more

Went into the dentist to swap out amalgam for composite today, only to find that a root canal was needed. I was already comfortably numb and freshly drilled, so when my dentist arranged for a referral, Valley Endodontic offered to fit me right in. Dr. Tonioli was truly exceptional. He's one of those people who sets you at ease from the moment he walks in. Procedure was a cake-walk for me - was prepared for something awful but I'll tell you, it was totally pain free...and most importantly anxiety free! I saw Dr. Kevin Axx for two appointments a root canal and a couple of extractions. It was two of the most pleasant dental experiences I have had in my life. The staff is super friendly and Dr Axx is extremely informative about the procedure and makes sure you are comfortable throughout the process. I saw Dr. Toniolli for a THIRD root canal on the same tooth, and with his up to date microscope technology, calm attitude and precision skills, he not only did excellent work, he found a past unresolved issue: he found a FOURTH canal that no other dentist had. I believe the tooth should be fine now, and I trust this office that makes you feel very comfortable and welcomed. They open at 7am too, which is earlier than many, and when I arrived at that time, they were already awake and cheery, so that alone said a lot-lol. Dr. Trent Lally performed my root canal painless and super fast! I did not think the tooth was capable of being saved. I thought it was going to take a long time, be messy and I was going to be really uncomfortable. He was honest and took excellent care of me. I also came into the office missing a front tooth, he referred me to Dr. Velangi who placed my implant and I now have two new beautiful front teeth. General dentist prescribed antibiotics and referred me to Valley Endodontics for a root canal late March due to an abscess. At Valley Endo, I was seen, examined, and a film taken. I was told authorization was required prior to even scheduling the appointment. Finally got my root canal mid-May, (all the while in pain, which is denied in their medical records, and suffering from an infection for which another different antibiotic could have been prescribed.) and referred back to my General Dentist for a perm filling. When I called Valley 3 weeks later explaining that I was still having pain, I was referred back to my General Dentist, who prescribed more antibiotics and a pain reliever, and asked what the specialist wanted. And so on and so forth... Three times I was referred to my General Dentist's office, and his work was done. Now I have bone erosion that will not repair itself, I may need 1 or even 2 extractions, and have constant swelling and pain. The front office staff was condescending, unhelpful, and demonstrated no compassion. read more

I have had a few root canals through out the years and been disappointed in the out comes. Dr m. Taylor referred me to see Dr. K. Axx for a root canal and I was very nervous due to past experiences. I cancelled my appointment twice before keeping the final one. His staff made me completely comfortable upon arriving. I gave Dr. Axx my long story about past and my TMG. He was so kind and walked me through the entire process of how he would proceed. He talked to me and gave me rest periods for my jaw problems. His work was excellent. And I can say a root canal finally was successful . I well always return to Dr.Axx for any future root canals. read more

Dr Axx was great. He completed my root canal with no problems. The issue came when I had my second scheduled follow up. Apparently the Dr that replaced Dr Axx no longer goes to that office but they neglected to information me even though I had an appt scheduled with her. I called the office to confirm my appt, since they hadn't, to be told that she's no longer at that office and I would need to go to a different office in Phoenix. Appt was rescheduled for the following week, and guess what I'm here waiting in the waiting room 20 minutes already because the Biltmore office didn't fax/transfer my file over. Dr's have been good but front office at the Biltmore office is not very efficient. read more
