Went in for some pain. Was told TWO teeth were not worth saving. When I called back to ask what exactly is being charged to my insurance so I could budget for another dental office. I found Central Valley Dentistry through Yelp as I was on the hunt of searching for someone to clean my pearly whites. The new patient process was so easy, and everyone that I interacted with were so friendly. My dental hygienist (I think her name is Judith.. I think) was so friendly, and she is so knowledgeable. She gave me an in depth explanation with a photo on what teeth should look like healthy v. not healthy and gave detailed explanation on how to keep it healthy. Never thought that there was a "right way" of flossing. Lol. I've never gotten this much detail from other dentists I have been to. I've been going to CVD for about 9 years. Dr. B and his staff are very professional and have taken great care of my teeth. Trista is one of the most gentlest and friendliest hygienist I've ever had and one of the main reasons why I don't shy a way from the camera. As a teenager I didn't take proper care of my teeth and as a result I had a mouth full of sliver fillings. Dr. B and Trista develop a dental plan that was affordable and prioritized based on what needed to be done right away, followed by things that were monitored and fixed later down the road. In addition, The office is always super clean and sterile which is even more important given the current pandemic. I am very impressed with the quality service provided here. I can start off by saying I called in to try and get an appointment due to my wisdom tooth. They were initially booked, but I received a call back from Melissa almost an hour later because an opening became available and they could see me the next day. Everyone was friendly and attentive. The dental assistant was very nice and explained everything. Dr. B was awesome and ensured to answer all of my questions and ensured to go into detail about the extraction process and medication. He went on to provide me additional information on how to improve my bite since I mentioned cosmetics were important to me. I also saw the hygienist and she was also Amazing and friendly. I was cold so she brought me a blanket, offered water, anything I needed to feel comfortable during the procedure. She explained everything that she was doing and also went into detail regarding my dental care. She explained what areas I'm doing well at and some that need some improvement. (Flossing of coarse). She was gentle since I explained my wisdom tooth was coming in and the areas was sore. She ensured she was careful and continued to check in on my pain level. I came to Dr. B with a chip tooth. This is after going to a different dentist two months prior, who completely shafted me on my dental care. Dr. B gave me a different option for fixing my tooth which actually looked much better, and the beautiful thing is his option was FREE! The dentist I went to before but bonding on my tooth but a very poor job of it. The chip was not that big, but I wanted it fixed. Dr. B offered to send down the tooth and the other teeth to make them even again - and they look better than they did before. I was prepared to spend a few hundred dollars just to have my smile the way I want it, and when I went to the front desk I was told there was absolutely no charge. I really can't believe it and I'm in a much appreciation. I will definitely take my teeth back to this office for all of my dental care. Admittedly, I hadn't gone to the dentist in, well... About a decade, give or take. I had met Dr. B several years prior, at an extracurricular event. And still, I never went into his office. Well, I've been dealing with some other health issues, and wanted to check all the boxes on my dental health as well, to give myself more of an edge in my fight to get healthy. I came in for consultation. Then I returned for cleaning. Trista is one of his dental hygienists. And while I was pretty anxious, she immediately had me at ease. I don't know what she's doing in there but Trista has just the right touch. Its not even like being at the dentist. I kid you not, It's more akin to being at my massage therapist, and I think of it as love-making to my mouth... In the most professional sense possible, of course. You could almost fall asleep under her care. And she enjoys doing it. Moreover, I actually look forward to my appointments Then they put a treatment and together for me. I needed either two root canals or two extractions. I opted for extractions. Dr. B placed me under anesthesia, but I remained awake and alert. Never would I have ever imagined I would be cool with staying awake during a dental procedure, but he extracted the teeth like the pro he is, and then prepped the two holes for future tooth implants. Its a pretty cool concept, and he seems to do it all. The entire staff is very pleasant, and you can tell they have good "unit cohesion", and work as a team. To boot, my close friend was in town for Thanksgiving. He hadnt been cleaned in years either and was exceedingly concerned about the vitality of his teeth. He was panicked that his gum recession was so bad, that his teeth were in jeopardy. I called the office, and messaged Dr. B privately. Mind you, this was the day before Thanksgiving, and they stayed open an extra hour just to see my friend. They consulted him, and the following Monday he returned for a cleaning, and measurements. It turned out his teeth are overall very healthy and his fears were put to rest. They went the extra mile, needless to say. At this point, I have no reason to seek out any other dental practice. Wow. I'm so blown away by Central Valley dentistry, and dr. B's staff. As someone who's honestly a little bit scared of dentists, I would recommend this office to anyone in need of dental care. I came in with a pretty bad tooth injury (from falling off a scooter) and needed emergency care. I called the office as soon as they opened and they saw me that day at 1pm. When I arrived for my appointment all of the staff was very friendly, and accommodating to all of my needs and made me feel a lot more at ease with the situation. Dr. B and his staff are an AMAZING team of dentists. They described all of the care that would be performed, and explained to me what kind of procedure they would preform and that made all the difference because I was pretty scared as this was a big surgery. The team did a 6 hour procedure, and stayed well beyond their closing time to deliver quality treatment, and the results were better than anything I could've hoped for. Everyone from the receptionist all the way to dentist seemed to be knowledgeable and friendly and I definitely felt it. All of their equipment is very up to date, and you can be sure that they will use the most recent and quality equipment. The office is very clean as well, and they even have TVs above the chairs so you can watch it while they work on you. What more can you ask for?! Payment was honestly a breeze too. They give complimentary insurance coverage check before your appointment so you can avoid the trouble once you get there. I was in town from California for a few days on holiday visiting with family and chipped my front tooth on Christmas Eve of all days. I was referred to Central Valley Dentistry by 1 800 Dentist. I called Dr. B's Emergency line Christmas morning and left a voicemail and he called me back in less than 5 minutes. I explained the situation and he genuinely expressed his concerns and made sure I his first appointment the next day at 7:45 AM. Dr. B and the staff were amazing! They were able to do a root canal and replace the tooth in time for me to meet my family that afternoon for lunch and enjoy the rest of my time in Phoenix. I recently moved back to Chicago, and I was planning on leaving a review with my final biannual appt. Unfortunately, I had to cancel but felt compelled to leave a review for this office. What I appreciated the most from Dr. B was his honest opinion about his treatment recommendations. He noticed that I did have a few teeth in the back (using digital X-rays) that I might want to get removed because it may cause pain later on. He recommended it but wasn't necessary right at this time and would recommend a surgeon, if requested. There was no pushing involved. The hygienists did most of the cleaning and provided me the info she was going to share with Dr. B. They'd asked me if I had any questions, and when I did, they were knowledgeable about the whys and were able to explain in layman's terms. Honestly, I was really impressed by how much they knew. Dr. B then comes by and finishes and makes sure to look at the areas the hygienist pointed out and makes additional comments. Dr. B also does a weird 'massage' (not exactly a massage) where he checks your neck area to see if there are any abnormalities such as abnormal growth. He noticed my lymph nodes were slightly enlarged, which was surprising because I had felt sick only for a short period of time a few days prior. Didn't realize it made such a difference to my body. I also didn't know dentists could do these checks because no one had ever done one on me. There is $75 or so fee for late cancellations (48 hrs?- please clarify with the office). The receptionist said if the 48 hr cut off fell on a weekend, leave a message and they will honor it, which was something I had to do and was not charged. Office appointments are right on time, you are given an appointment and that is when you are seen. I was very impressed with the care of my teeth. The dental staff took careful detail in cleaning my teeth. I never had such treatment at any other dental office. My first visit, the x-rays and cleaning were less that my car oil change. I got to meet Dr. B, he is very knowledgeable and is trained in may areas of dental care. Most of all treatments for your teeth can be done right in the office. I came to this dentist almost 2 years ago after a botched filling from my previous dentist. The previous dentist wanted to give me a crown because of a persistently painful filling. Dr. Canoza did an exam and said she could redo the filling to see if that alleviated the pain since the bad filling most likely had a micro-crack (can't see those, but they hurt). She has also helped me with my TMJ. I hesitated to post anything because there was no guarantee the pain would go away, but she fixed my painful tooth. She's brilliant. I'm so glad I didn't let my previous dentist do a crown. They do not over-treat here (some say they do, and you probably have bad teeth, and your last dentist had overlooked things). Visited one time as a new patient and had an awful experience. They attempted to upsell me on treatments of around 10k total and there was no need for those procedures. I saw Dr. Canoza and she was incredibly rude and dismissive. She examined my teeth and was just reading off a list to my hygienist of all of the things that she deemed wrong with them. I had previously been to the dentist 8 months before this appointment, so the fact that they tried to say that I needed 4 crowns and multiple fillings was ridiculous. I switched over to a new dentist and was very relieved that this place was wrong and caused me unnecessary anxiety. I've worked in healthcare for over 15 years and have been coming back to CVD for about 5 years now. I typically binge watch tv shows on their wall as well as overhead tv screens while under the drill. The year typically starts with me calling their office manager asking for assistance with burning off my Flex spending account and getting a quick appointment before it expires. I keep coming back since "Dr. B" uses advanced technology and procedures like the Othropos SL 3D (CT Scan) imaging and has walked me through his approach on the 3 dental implants he's performed on me, along with new procedures such as centrifuging blood to place a pellet in the surgical site to speed the healing process and improve success rates. He is very open in treatment discussions and, always respects my input and has earned my trust as the best dentist, that genuinely cares for their patients, I've ever met. I broke off a part of one of my crowns on 3/2/22. I called CVD, where I have been a patient for a long time, explained my problem and they squeezed me in, at 5:00pm the next day, with Dr. Canoza! She is the most amazing, kind and caring Dentist! When I told her I hate driving at night, she assured me they'd get me out of there with some daylight left. Even Dr. Bebahani stopped by to tell me, with teamwork, I would be getting out of there within two hours. She took time to throughly examine and clean my teeth. I often encounter lots of pain during this process from poor habits in my younger years. My son had a horrible toothache and infection, I called and got in immediately. My son was soo grateful to be out of pain and on the mend so quickly and the Doc and staff were so caring to him as if he was family. I've had several appointments since my initial review and have had the chance to interact with Dr. B and his staff. I've had good experiences with the staff, the office manager, assistant and the hygienists. I recently had a deep cleaning and the hygienist deserves 5 stars. She was wonderful to work with. I've had good experiences with Dr. B as well. He set the bar pretty high on my first visit. I suppose all dentists strive to do this so that you come back to their office. But all that glitters is not gold. There is a lack of communication between the doctor and staff and vice versa. The staff says one thing. The doctor says and or does something different. It leaves you unsure how to prepare for an appointment and unsure what to expect. Aftercare instructions aren't always given after procedures. I recently had a major procedure done and my aftercare instructions consisted of "here are your morning meds, your night meds, take this too and we'll see you in a week." I had to go back a few days later because of some problems related to this procedure and the assistant who checked me in made me feel like I had committed some cardinal sin by coming back without an appointment. I was not given a treatment plan for my lower teeth. If you read my first review, then you'll recall that I said they emailed me a treatment plan. And they did. For my upper teeth. I was supposed to come back to have my lower teeth cleaned and get a treatment plan at that time. Was told on that day that the doctor didn't need to see me. I asked to see him anyway and he said he'd email me the plan. This was in September last year and I've been asking since then and getting the same answer since then. I recently went to another dentist and walked out the door with a treatment plan in hand so I know it doesn't take 4 months to put together a treatment plan. On more than one occasion I have been made to feel like I'm walking into an implant dealership and Dr. B is the salesman. He tried to sell me implants on my first visit. I said I couldn't afford them. He then decided to take me case on as "charity case" and offered to drop his normal fees to $10,000. I said no and decided to have another procedure done. I had to come back for a follow up and was told by a staff member "if you had gotten implants, you wouldn't be having this problem." Not appropriate by any means. And no matter how many times I politely say no, the sales tactics continue. No means no means no. I have no doubt that Dr. B is knowledgeable and your mileage may vary. I think he's fine as a general dentist if all you need are the obligatory twice a year cleanings or a few fillings. But I need a dentist who is going to be more invested in helping me maintain my oral health. I don't have dental insurance and while my dental savings plan saves me a lot of money, I'm still paying out of pocket and I want the best for my money. read more

My first impression is that this is a money machine in disguise as a dental practice. Granted there's nothing wrong with that and in fact the service here was extremely friendly at every phase of my "dental cleaning" today. But the entire focus and assumption from the moment you walk in the doors is that you *will* need more - far more in some cases - then a just a basic teaser rate "cleaning." The more extensive High tech X-rays taken and 360 degree fancy machine have a singular goal in mind: uncovering even the teeniest issues that the staff and Doctor will gladly show you and give you pricey "options". A good analogy would be you go to the doctor for a basic yearly checkup. Doctor decides to order a CT Scan, head to toe MRI, urine analysis, DNA test, blood work, EKG, and a colonoscopy all same day. "But I just wanted a physical!" you complain. That's what you get with Central. Granted this is not to say they are not competent here - or honest. The young Doctor and his huge staff all seemed straight forward enough and the issues brought to my attention (gum rescission and some bone loss) are probably legit. But make no mistake - each staff member here and especially the Doctor have invested *heavily* in equipment, training and attending seminars all designed to put a little fear in your heart - and make your money part by the thousands. This may be the state of dentistry today: more akin to going to the car dealer. I have some prior experience with this DDS as my kids and my wife had been here, and experienced similar attempts at up-selling. All the things they found with my 52?year old mouth may in fact be 100% legit. But the recommendations for "deep cleaning" seemed to presume that I would need that prior to even checking (one of their staff is dedicated to individually measuring every single solitary one of your teeth/gums!). I won't return, as the car dealer vibe is a turnoff for me. I'm sure he is a good dentist, I'm sure his staff cares. But for me, I just didn't connect on that human level that I seek today and is so difficult to find in a world that is so focused on profits over all else. *** Update: I just read this dentists long and frankly oddly defensive response to my honest review.
