My old practice was a single dentist, a few dental assistants and a receptionist. You spend your entire visit with the dentist and he provides you an honest summary of your visit. The total visit is under a half hour. Biltmore Commons has 6 Dentists and at least that many dental hygienist and more dental assistants and receptionists. You spend the majority of your visit with your hygienist and about 2 minutes with the dentist. Because there is so much overhead you get a Spirit Airlines experience where you are constantly getting upsold nonsense. The hygienists are more like used car salesmen than people who clean your teeth. I have been to this place twice and they have tried selling me laser treatment ($100) night guards ($800), Invisilign, a Waterpick ($120), an additional cleaning, and they were going to try to sell me an electric toothbrush if I didn't already have one. The hygienists don't give up the entire visit until you say yes to something. The dentist never says you need any of these things. I never went through with any of these scams. And I will not be going to Biltmore Commons ever again. My first visit was 2 hours (with x-rays) and my second was almost an hour (without x-rays). I have a life and my time is not valued. My recommendation is to find a dentist with less overhead where they can pay for their practice with just regular dental work and not ancillary products.

I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.

They seem very knowledgable and seem to know what they're doing when it comes to dentistry, but my concerns are more in the administration side of things. I changed jobs earlier this year and got new insurance with a common major insurance provider, and I needed to get a procedure done. I asked them what the procedure would cost and they gave me a quote, which was already expensive, and I paid that at the time of service. However, when I came in for a routine cleaning 6 months later, they said the insurance "didn't pay as much as they thought" and stuck me with MORE THAN DOUBLE their original quote. I looked into the insurance claim and called the insurance company myself, and the insurance company paid exactly what was according to their billing schedule. There were no surprises. I think the office knew (or should have known, because they're the professionals and this is what they do) that this would happen, and they dishonestly gave me a lower quote, did the service, and then stuck me with the even more expensive bill (but to their credit, they did give me a lower price than what they billed to insurance, but it was still VERY expensive that I was not prepared for). Additionally, I distinctly recall the procedure treated four teeth, but then on the bill and insurance claim, they say they treated six. Unfortunately, I don't really know how to argue this, especially because it happened so long ago. I suspect they didn't contact me about this issue earlier for this exact reason. Again, dishonest. Another concern with this dentist is that it's unprofessional that they use Zelle to get around credit/debit card transaction fees. Every merchant has to deal with card transaction fees, they shouldn't be up-charging that cost and they shouldn't be using Zelle, which is supposed to just be a peer-to-peer payment network. Lastly, as much as I love dogs, I don't think it's hygienic that they keep a dog in their office. In all, I started off loving this dentist, and very disappointed that they turned out to be this unprofessional and dishonest. I'm sad I'll have to go elsewhere from now on.

If you have dental anxiety this is the office you need! The environment is calm and homey. They go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and at ease. Then there is Dr B! Dr B is so amazing! He has a wonderful sense of humor that makes the entire office a joyful environment and greatly reduces the anxiety of a dental visit. I had to have dentures placed and he was so gentle and did such an amazing job surgically that my recovery was unbelievably quick and not nearly as painful as I had anticipated. He had to remove all my remaining teeth due to a medication I was on for 6 months that caused my teeth to become brittle and break at the gum line. I did not have one bruise, or even the slightest swelling. He is THAT GENTLE and is truly exceptional in his technique. I will always recommend this wonderful amazing dental group. I was a mess emotionally and physically as I was dealing with infection and teeth broken. They were kind, compassionate, listened and gave me hope and the best dental experience I have ever had. My main qualm was that I…read moredidn't appreciate getting pressured to get the fluoride cleaning for an extra 30 bucks when getting my dental cleanings. If I say I don't want to pay the extra 30 bucks, don't ask me, "why not?" Isn't it evident that I don't want to pay the extra 30 bucks? Now I have to explain myself?! I just don't see the value of a single higher strength fluoride application, rather than a daily application, as i had already been doing. Also, I would say that the front office billing woman was at times dismissive and rude when I asked about bills. I was happy to pay, but I think it's worthwhile to be friendly to your customers, not sighing and eye-rolling when explaining bills. Also, I'm now having to get bone rebuilt, after a large piece of bone was improperly chipped out when a former dentist there removed a tooth for a dental implant. That's been a costly and frustrating endeavor for me. I'm still in the midst of it. Finally, I think there's a better way to practice, than to nickel and dime people for each dental x-ray. My current dentist gets the X-rays done to accomplish the treatment. I'm not charged for every single X-ray. Anyhow, that was my experience there. Other than those things, I would say it's a nicely appointed office with overall friendly staff, and I do think the primary dentist there is very competent. It's just the little things that matter.

The hygienists are careful and thorough and the office is very relaxing with floor to ceiling windows and city-mountain views from the 6th floor; perfect for distracting your mind! They have very thorough COVID protocols right now with a squirt of hand sanitizer when you arrive, temperature check, wipe down of the counter when you sign in, and a mouth rinse with peroxide before your cleaning. They also added HEPA filters in each room and a new vacuum-rinse system that minimizes aerosols so I felt very safe during my two recent visits.

On 5/22/26, dentist Rudolf Uvadyex, said that since the bitewing xrays from another dentist were…read morenot clear enough for him to make an assessment of the condtion of my teeth, he would give me the xrays for free. About 2 weeks later DentaQuest said a claim was paid for those xrays. I left 2 voicemails with the manager to discuss this issue and request cancelation of the claim. The manager did not contact me by phone, so I sent an email requesting cancelation of the claim. It has been at least 10 days and there was no response to the email. I feel that either the dentist lied to me or the clinic filed a fraudulent claim. In addition, the dentist told me he would not work on my teeth unless I do a Scaling and Root Planing (Deep Cleaning). I went to two other dental clinics and they said a deep cleaning was not needed and that a mid-range cleaning was satisfactory.
