I wanted this to be my new dentist and was extremely disappointed. I switched from an ppo plus to my new wife's insurance to consolidate costs. I explained this on my first call in to Brittany at the front desk. I then found out I have to wait a month due to office policy to see them. I then get a call 1 day before my appointment that I was not setup yet. I explained again I don't understand hmo well and they stated I needed to call my insurance. Then waited a month to find out the day off still not moved and then I put them and insurance on a 3 way call. I was already setup but they didn't have me on the registration list. The insurance company explained this was the office not them. This was my first red flag. I am excited a few months in to get a cleaning finally I thought. Nope, I get 1.5 hours of xrays and scans. They state I have no cavities but my gums are having issues and need my root canal tooth rescanded and need a deep cleaning (even though i had a cleaning 4 months ago and 12 years no cavities). I have a 2 week trip to Netherlands coming and explained this but go to get the recommended scan of my tooth that cost me 200$ out of pocket and no cleaning still. This is the last I speak to a human and next six times I call in I get a text message back and will attach the screenshot of some of it. Over and over told I will get a call back due to questions about the cleaning and future work. I am in shock after trying to talk to a human for 3 weeks they only call me on time after I told them I was going to travel at 3 am local time there to leave a voicemail. I then called back that day 3 times and never got through. Then called and texted when I got home for 3 days in a row. This is a ton of calling and texts about something I explained I have anxiety about to get no response. I travel alot for work and don't have time for an office that can't make me a priority. I now have to start over next month with new dentist after my next trip. Ps I know they have a service that will respond to this message with "sorry for your experience and we apologize for the inconvenience " just like they did when I was calling over and over ro get help. read more

This was my first time at this dental provider. They want to bill you for every item that is normally part of the overall cleaning at other dental offices. On top of that, after my insurance refused to pay for one item, they billed for digital pictures taken to assess me for Invisalign. They billed me for it. Now, I had no idea at the time because they never mentioned it, that this was an "extra" item. If I had known, I would have refused because I had no intention of ever using Invisalign because my teeth, although not perfect, are pretty darn good. When I called to ask about it, I am told it was a necessary procedure. Really? Necessary for what? To bill me extra for a service I never wanted. Needless to say I will never go back. If I could give a zero rating I would. I spoke with the "office manager" Victoria Trejo and she was very very rude. I have been a client of this establishment for years and as soon as she answered she placed me on a 8 min hold and when she finally picked up again she was giving me an attitude and all I wanted to do was schedule a routine appointment. Maria at the front desk was incredibly pushy and overstepping boundaries. she was rude to my wife but not to me when i stood up for my wife. She even hung up on my wife when she called to cancel her appointment. If i hadn't stepped in they would've maxed out her insurance coverage from just one visit! my wife was too nice to say no and would've had to pay an additional $1500. They only care about money. I have been going here to get my teeth cleaned for some years now beause I do not use dental insurance and it was very affordable. I went to my appt yesterday and the management has changed and the pricing has almost doubled. They never called to let me know this before my appt so I left. This morning I received a text stating I had a balance due for canceling my appt les than 24 hours before my appt. The only reason I new the pricing had changed is when one of the receptionist told one of the other patients his fees would be around $400.00. It looks like the reviews go back to when Dr Visser was the dentist. He was wonderful, office staff had excellent follow up and made sure that my medical history was current so that they would be able to create an actual "treatment plan". Dr Visser left the practice. My recent experience does not support a 2 star review let alone a 5 star. In my case, there was no follow up with a process that required my PCP's Ok. The forms coming back from my PCP were not complete. They were sent twice. I left 2 VM to f/u since my procedure was tomorrow. This is when I found out about the missing info..If there was a problem getting the info, I should have been notified and could f/u with my PCP. I shouldn't have had to leave two VM and a 3rd call the day before my procedure. I understand that my medical history complicated things but this latest issue is follow up. I had a dental emergency on Thursday when my molar cracked in half. It had a very large cavity that I got 4 years ago, so the walls were thin and much of the inside was just a filling. I knew I would likely need a root canal at some point, because that was what the dentist wanted to do to begin with. The tooth had been hurting me for some months- the filling was degrading and it became very sensitive so I practically stopped chewing on that side. Yesterday I was eating a bagel and when I bit down, I had a terrible pain because the tooth cracked down to the gum line, exposing the filling and the tooth nerve! It was 11:45am. I made a few calls and could not find an emergency appointment. I was also advised that I would likely need an oral surgeon for an extraction, due to the delicate shell of my remaining tooth. When I talked with Thomas Dental, Neraida (sorry if I misspelled your name!) told me they had no oral surgeon until Saturday so I hung up. Shortly thereafter she called me back. I told her I had a 2pm appointment elsewhere for free xrays and exam. She said they would do the same and if I needed to wait until Saturday for the surgeon, they would give me pain meds. She assured me they could take care of me, if I could come in right away...which was music to my ears and my throbbing tooth! Parking is around the back and on the side street. It is located on the NE corner, easy to find. I was seen within 5 minutes of entering and the paperwork was simple. The xray machine is digital so there is zero wait time. The assistant was very gentle and doctor Rizberg made me feel very comfortable. I believe root canals can be inherently dangerous by causing systemic health problems. I watched a movie about it and considered removing my other one, and now I was facing a second potentially health damaging procedure! Doctor Rizberg explained that an extraction with a bridge requires neighboring teeth to be shaved and whittled down in order to cement the bridge in place, which often causes extreme sensitivity, requiring those teeth to get...root canals! A bridge was also about $1000 more expensive. Extraction with an implant was also discussed, but that requires almost a year to complete and costs alot of money. There can be problems with sensitivity, infection and ability to function normally. Now I would have loved to get a porcelain root canal, they do them in Mexico but I could not wait with an exposed nerve. Hindsight, I wish I would have sought out a biological dentist, since I do not have insurance, I am out of pocket regardless. Dr Rizberg told me that she minored in biological dentistry and I found that she was able to hold an objective conversation around my concerns. That made me so comfortable. I was in pain so she got to work and I was done within 90 minutes, maybe less. She numbed me so well that I felt absolutely nothing, unlike my last root canal. She explained what she was doing along the way. She also compared my 1st root canal with her work, and there is a substantial difference in quality. After it was done, they took a second xray to make sure the pins were seated correctly and that she had gotten all of the nerve out. My total was $1600. Root canal $550, Core build up w/pins $140, porcelain crown, $800. I think I could have gotten the crown for $500 elsewhere. So I dropped a star because I feel like I overpaid at least $300. They showed me 2 different pricing structures. There was a $99 fee to pay the lower rate of $1500- the first table showed $3500! That is over 3x the average cost! So I think they overcharged me. They have 2 sets of rates and I did not fully understand their explanation of why. I used care credit, 12 months at 0% financing. Before we started, they handed me a prescription for motrin. I got up to leave because it is 2019, I live in the USA and should not have to suffer in pain. Dr Rizberg agreed to write me a stronger script- there is no way to abuse 3 days worth of pain meds anyway. I know there is a crisis, but that does not mean people who need bonafide pain control should suffer. More people die from alcohol and it is legal, but I digress. The lab to make the crown is offsite so it will be 2 weeks before I can get my permanent crown. I HATE the dentist because it hurts to be worked on, but my experience was quite pleasant, so I will likely return. If I find better pricing, I would consider going elsewhere. I have no insurance, but they did not have better rates for cash paying customers, as most places do. I had an emergency. They responded immediately. I saw an all female staff. I told them each time that I already moved and cancel my appointments. Then they sent me a bill for not showing up. I called them and told them that I cancelled. Victoria the self promoted office manager insisted that I pay the trap fee of $25 for not showing up! While I was talking to her it's the only time that she deactivated my account. I would give this place a negative star if I could. Worst service ever. Been a patient for over 2 years. The front office staff is totally a joke. Called to make an appt. for a cleaning. The person answering the phone asked when I would like to come in after she asked my name and birthdate. Tried to get one for later next week. Apparently I got a special deep cleaning which is why they charged me $120 even though my insurance covers cleanings, and they did not inform me of this. They also tried pushing wisdom teeth removal on me "just in case" which I said I did not want to do, yet they have since mailed me a letter and left a voicemail asking when I want to get my wisdom teeth removed (a very expensive procedure). *this dentist gives you a Starbucks gift card if you leave them a Yelp review, probably attributing to the positive reviews* Wow after visiting another dentist for a second opinion, I learned how much Thomas Dental was trying to squeeze money out of me. Firstly, they charged me for the basic check up and cleaning (about $120), saying I hadn't met my deductible yet. After going to another dentist, I learned that is not true and my insurance covers regular checkups, it's not included in the deductible. He also did not know what a permanent retainer (wire stuck to the back of my teeth) was. They wanted to make my checkup and cleaning 2 different appointments, as well as have my wisdom teeth removed "just in case," when they aren't even a problem yet. read more

I finally found the perfect dentist! The staff is super friendly, the hygienist is very thorough, no pushy pitch for stuff I don't need, everyone is always on time, I never had to wait more than 5 minutes in the lobby. I got 4 fillings redone, it took a while, but I experienced virtually no pain. Once the novacaine wore off I could close my mouth and all fillings fit perfectly, no need for adjustment. The dentist, Louis Visser, is very good. Prices are very fair, no surprises after the fact, the estimated amounts are right on. I paid less than half what I did with my previous dentist for a deep cleaning. I can't recommend this office enough. read more

I HATE going to the dentist. But I knew it was time to go. Having just moved here in the last few months I knew yelp could help me find a dentist. This one wasn't too far from my house and accepted my insurance so I figured I'd try it out. I called and I was able to schedule an appointment the next week! Everyone in the reception area was very friendly! I was apparently assigned by my insurance to another office so the receptionist called and had me switched over which was awesome. The dental hygienist who worked with me was awesome as well. She was so nice and explained everything she was doing which I appreciated. I got a deep cleaning and she was very aware of anything causing me pain and took several breaks which I appreciated as well. The dentist only spoke to me briefly but she was fine. Right when I pulled into the parking lot I knew I had made a great choice of my new dentist. The office is very cute--the landscaping is amazing and there are hummingbird feeders outside the windows where exams/cleanings take place. It has been awhile since I have been to a dental office. The staff at Thomas dental did not make me feel ashamed or guilty when I told them it has been 4 years and I was suffering from a toothache. The inside of the office is very nice and definitely up to date when it comes to technology. I like that I get text messages to remind me of my appointments. The Dentist was very thorough in going over my exams and gave me three different treatment options with his recommendation. Dental work is not cheap and I was able to even get financing with 6 months interest-free right then and there. I received a very difficult root canal and the Dr. made sure I got plenty of anesthesia throughout the procedure - didn't feel a thing. Its hard to find a good dentist. We went here in a recommendation. Our friend had been once, and they were running a promo on recommendations so I'm assuming he had a good first visit and wanted the promo discount. Our first visit was, okay. The admin staff was unfriendly. The dental hygienist was super awesome, but I guess she doesn't regularly work at this location. The dental work by the doctor working was poor. I can't bite down on my cavity area. There was no pain prior to the work, and now I have daily pain. Biggest issue was that they charged us more than our quote. With no explanation. I know insurance is tricky, but this seemed more than that. Plus they charged for a cleaning when it's supposed to be free. Would not recommend this place. read more

I use to recommend this place and my initial visit with Dr. Rizberg was great. I continued coming to this dentist office even after her and some of her staff left. I had three visits with Dr. Lidner. On two occasions I had talked to Grace to setup an appointment. When I would show up to those appointments I was never on the schedule and had to wait additional hour before they could see me. During my visits with Dr. Lidner, she was always frantic, dropping her tools and yelling at her dental assistant.
