Dr. Volkin and the staff are amazing. Everyone is very friendly and professional. I was a patient of an affiliated office for 14 years and was very happy there as well. I really like this office and would rate 5 stars but I really don't care for the policy of requiring a $100 deposit before you can make an appointment. I understand why they do it, but in my opinion, that is a cost of being in business. No one pays for my time if I have to wait past my appointment or my appointment gets cancelled. GREEDY! Please read the reviews before booking an appointment here! I read through the reviews and I'm appalled that I had the same exact experiences as others. I have been to plenty of dental facilities and this is the first time I walked out with no cleaning. My oral health is great and I love to maintain that, keep that in mind. I went in for my appointment and went through the whole "new patient" process. Once I got done with my x-rays and got to sit down in the chair, it all went downhill. A total of three people were in the room and Dr. Kaplan was trying to say I had gingivitis and a couple other things, I had someone reading back a bill to me, and another lady advertising a whole box kit for whitening. I experienced an in person add and wished I was able to "skip" just like in YouTube. Before I went into this facility I double checked with my insurance to make sure it was fully covered for my cleaning and "new patient" fees, which it was. Once the lady reads the bill back to me she mentioned a whopping $340.00! That's when I knew something was up with this place, they like to act as if they have your best interest and downplay the greed behind the scenes. I stood my ground without being argumentative and said "No" and since I declined they decided I wasn't worthy enough for the most basic thing you can do at the dentist, a cleaning... I got a second opinion from my current dental facility and they confirmed all of the suspicions I had. This is a corporate dental facility and they will treat you so. Please do not let them fool you into paying for a whole bunch of stuff they might diagnose you with because you won't be able to tell what's true or what's false. If I could, I would give zero stars I went in as a new patient and they refused to do a standard cleaning and wanted to charge me almost $500 and reschedule me for an hour and a half half for a deep cleaning. I came in with a painful tooth. said I needed 2 root canals. Got started and her assistant must of been new because she didn't suck up the water in my mouth,I had to swallow all of it.During the drilling, Dr Brown hit a nerve. that is very painful. She started drilling along other teeth on bottom where root canals would be in the back of mouth. I didn't know why she was doing that. no info on what she was doing. I came back 2 wks later to see endodontist that comes to her office. the shots were horrible and he hit a nerve also. it was a facial nerve. my right eye would not close.asst said it from the shots. I have never ever heard of that before. he was hitting nerves also. about jumped out of my chair. so they just give you more novacaine. after he was done, went to see Dr brown-same day to finish. I asked why are you drilling on my front teeth. it was for the crowns way in the back. how was I to know.this assistant would put the hose down in bottom of mouth hitting the gums . i had a very great experience here! usually don't write reviews but i see they have 3 stars and really don't understand why? first off the front desk lady named shannon was so helpful and had a very positive attitude and just made the experience better and when i went in to get my wisdom teeth removed all the staff were so understanding of how nervous i was. i didn't get the persons name who brought me back but they were so super nice and supportive and walked me through the whole anesthesia falling asleep part. the doctor was also very nice and overall made the experience 10/10!!!! so glad i went here!!!! read more

Super unprofessional! I have had a total of 3 appointments over the last 2 years and they ALL have needed to be "rescheduled" after I already hired a babysitter and my husband took off work so that I could go to the appointment. They take forever to get to you at your appointment where you spend most of your time waiting in a dental chair without seeing anyone and one of the hygenists is NOT gentle at all. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and after the horror stories I heard I was low key worried walking into the practice but every step of the way I was told what was happening and felt at ease about the procedure. I would never recommend Glendale Modern Dentistry! I recently moved to AZ from WA I sent them my dental records from my Dentist in WA because my insurance only covers X-Rays every 36 months. It was a $79 charge but a new patient charge is $39. I asked to just not use my insurance and pay the new patient charge. I get the X-Rays, DR comes in and looks at my teeth, looks good. Hygienist comes in and essentially tells me I have periodontal disease. Mind you, I have been seeing an orthodontist, dentist, and periodontics for the past 5 years for Ortho and Implants. I've asked my Periodontitis if my gums looked good, he said "Yes". Come here and they want me to get a deep cleaning, that runs between $1400 every 3 months. This place is MONEY hungry! After the hygienist told me all of that, I asked if I was getting a cleaning, she said " I don't have time to do that" So, I was really confused on what the heck I was there for. I've never gone to a dentist and not gotten cleaning done. SHe left the room and nobody came in after about 20 mins. I just left the building and called and told them to cancel my partners appt, and not to charge my insurance. The office manager that called me was nice, everybody was nice.. Just very shady and money hungry! I contacted my insurance company to tell them about the shady practice. read more

I've been a patient at this office for several years. I had an appointment this morning which had been confirmed earlier in the week. I showed up for my appointment and the clinic doors were locked. I waited 15 minutes after my appointment time, called, and left a voice message that I'd been waiting at the clinic entrance and to cancel my appointment because 15 minutes had elapsed and I was tired of waiting for someone to show up. Not a single staff member has bothered to call me to explain why my appointment had been confirmed and why nobody was at the clinic when I arrived for my appointment. I work in the Healthcare industry and my clinic would never leave a patient without an explanation like this. This is a very poor way to run a business. Don't waste you're time or money!! Dr Brown is so nice and friendly but they were going to charge me just over $300 to get 4 'cavities dealt with. I had TWO second opinions- turns out I have NO cavities. Like why lie to me!?! That's when I learned that some dental offices have to meet quotas to stay in business and to be part of a group.... so yeah if you want a honest opinion and to not pay an arm and a leg, Don't go here!! And this was just the Many things that went wrong. My husband saw a hygienist at this location, and she gave him false information. Everyone has a dental horror story. Mine is the complete OPPOSITE of those! I took my daughter to have her wisdom teeth out & they did an amazing job! I came back myself for emergency care & to get a partial & I got the same great care! From the receptionist, to the coordinator, to the nurses, and amazing dentist, my whole experience was phenomenal. They were empathetic & knowledgeable & took such great care of me! The staff is always very welcoming and I've had nothing but great treatment from Dr Brown and her associate doctors. I went here for 5 years and thought I finally found the perfect dentist, but alas my most recent visit was a poor experience and another individual that I recommended see this dentist office to shared the same recent change in sentiment. Hygienists and dentists I have seen have been friendly and thorough. Unfortunately the sales process has become suddenly incredibly pushy and has led to my decision to discontinue care with this provider. During 2020 I was charged an additional cash fee for PPE due to COVID. I thought this was sketchy, and believe it is simply driving additional profit. Then in 2021 I returned for a 6 month cleaning and the sales administrator tried to sell me a discount plan which entailed me prepaying for future cleanings - at an above market rate. There was no incentive to prepay as any general dentist in the metro area will charge these prices as service is rendered. They were suggesting that imaging (for routine exams) will cost me $1,000s. This includes x-rays as well as a literal camera taking a photo of your mouth for hundreds of dollars each image. Then, they rang up my bill 4x too high "accidentally". And fortunately I caught the issue before I paid and left. I will not be returning. It takes a lot to earn someone's trust and perpetual business and all of that can be lost so easily and quickly. I called a week before appointment to update insurance, they called me the day before my appointment asking for new insurance. Gave it to them again. I received a text confirming appointment. Dr. Armendariz did a crown on my tooth and I literally had no discomfort whatsoever. I went here to get an exam and because I was in pain. I had a tooth bugging me. So, I set up an appointment to have my teeth looked at. I was impressed by the technology they had. The location was close to home & convenient hours were a plus. I checked in and gave them my insurance info. I thought I saw some drool out of the receptionist's mouth. I have a great employer who offers a buy-up coverage. It's the best dental plan I've ever been on. They called me in. I went back with the assistant who took x-rays and then I got to see the dentist. Dr. Brown looked at my teeth and told me that she could not save it or the one in front of it. She told me I needed about $8000 worth of work. She said that I needed 2 teeth extracted, 2 bone grafts and have a 4-tooth bridge built. She had me go back to get some more x-rays done, which I found out later they were not needed and if they were, they should have done 4 bite-wings instead of some fancy x-rays my insurance did not cover. After I left my appointment, I was thinking of how the heck could I come up with that kind of money. I will let my teeth go until I can get the funds together. Fast forward to February 2018, I was in excruciating pain and my face was swollen. I moved to North Scottsdale so I could not return to Glendale Modern Dentistry. I went to another dentist. He evaluated me. Basically, I needed 1 extraction and a 3-tooth bridge built with 1 bone graft. His price was $2600. My cost was $1350 with insurance. I received a 2nd opinion from him saying that the tooth that was identified by Dr. Brown as needing to be pulled was actually in decent shape. I did not need to have it removed and it serves as an anchor to the bridge I am having put in. Based on the treatment I got from them vs the dentist I last visited, I would never recommend Glendale Modern Dentistry. The practice was greedy; I should have been move vigilant about the costs. I trusted the estimate as being a true evaluation only to find out that the treatment plans she had recommended were not in my best interest, but to their$. read more

My daughter had an appt last week to have her wisdom teeth removed. Despite having a plan of care and estimate, the bill was quadruple. She paid it and was happy. I felt it was wrong and unethical. A simple phone call ahead of time to explain would have been nice. I then made an appt for myself for xray and check up. I had had a check up a few months earlier and was basically going for a second opinion. Much to my horror, the estimate here was almost double. Fleur Blethen in a talented Endodontist and preformed a root canal in @ 90 minutes! She and her assistant were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. All things you want in a root canal. Very little discomfort and she has small hands! The front of the house staff did a great job at getting all the t's crossed and i's dotted. This is not our normal dentist. Our daughter bumped her tooth pretty hard. Her tooth was loose, bloody gums, etc. It was about 7pm. They were one of the few dentists open. Talk about a friendly dentist and dentist office We had all 3 kids in pajamas in tow. We are grateful we came in. I had the worst experience with Glendale Modern Dentistry! I have gone to Glendale Modern Dentistry for about 2 years and the service has been pretty good until recently I went in because I was having pain underneath my bridge. They took x-rays and found that the tooth holding up the bridge was infected which I can understand. What bothered me is the dentist, Dr. Brown told me that because of that I would have to get a root canal and then went into how I needed a new bridge and had to have other things done to the bridge which she quoted me to be over $8000. I went to another dentist to get a second opinion. I am so glad I did that. The other dentist said I just needed a root canal and that the bridge was just fine. I only paid $176! Obviously Glendale Modern Dentistry was trying to rip me off!!! I will never go to them again. read more

From the front desk receptionist working with me on payment options, to the X-ray tech being very nice and sweet, to the dental hygienist who is a lovely woman and does an amazing job. Not Very Organized: In December I made an appointment for a TEETH CLEANING as a new patient (vs returning). The office called me and asked me to reschedule because I was not considered new (I had one previous appointment prior to this), they could not take me because the time allotted was for new patients. I rescheduled for 5pm in January. I arrive at my appointment and was greeted by friendly staff. After a short wait I'm taken to get my x-rays. Then I'm taken to the exam room where a hygienist comes in to great me. She leaves and is replaced by someone who is only there to check my gums. She leaves and is replaced by an account manager who is there to upsell me on flouride and an oral scope (ok great). After she quotes me prices and confirms by ability to pay she says the hygienist will be in shortly (it's already 5:30). I asked how much longer would it take and was asked "why do you have somewhere to be?" - why yes home to feed my kid - I'll check. She returns and states that the hygienist is working on a patient and has one more after that before she can start on me so probably sometime after 6:30 probably won't be done till 7pm but I can reschedule if need be. However, they are booked and don't have any appointments where I would not be forced to take time off work in the next 2-3 weeks. Needless to say I went home with dirty teeth. Last experience with this place. My advice to you - go somewhere else. read more

It took two months to get in for an appointment, I get in wait for half an hour before I am greeted, come to find out they have not confirmed my insurance and since its Sat that office is closed and now they have to reschedule my appointment so that they can call the insurance to find out if I'm can get services!! Let me not go without saying when I made this appointment they indicated they would be calling the insurance before my appointment so I wouldn't have this issue! I guess not! Ridiculous!!! I am picky about dentists because I've had some terrible ones, so believe me when I say this office is really wonderful. Their pricing is affordable and no nonsense. The staff is friendly and does a great job keeping track of where we are in our treatment plans and finding appointments that work with our schedule. I will start by saying something positive about Glendale Modern Dentistry: Their office has modern technological equipment used for x-rays and sharing information with the patient, superior to any office I have visited. However, I think they may be in debt for purchasing this equipment because each time I visit, they attempt to extort me to pay for it. I have visited their office two times (recently on December 9th) and each time I needed to check my trousers to ensure I still had my wallet. Glendale Modern Dentistry is the used car sales of Dentistry offices (my apologies to honest used car dealers of the world). On both visits I have sought out 2nd opinions from other dental providers including Midwestern University. On both occasions the recommended treatments from Glendale Modern are debunked by the other offices as incorrect and unnecessary. This last visit broke the camel's back as I was seeking a cleaning and was told it would cost $706.00 to clean my teeth with insurance! Apparently, I needed a Fluoride Varnish, Velscope and Perio RT which is dental speak for, "fleece him!" A week later my cleaning was provided for free, covered under my insurance with no additional costs at another office. I had to take time off of work on two separate days and had to pay an additional exam fee because Glendale Modern Dentistry refused to transfer my x-rays and exam information. At the writing of this review Glendale Modern has not returned my email request to transfer my records despite their fancy technology. I lost $50 but it is my hope you will read this and choose another dental provider. Thanks for listening. read more

Dont go here. I had tooth pain, they took a couple xrays. Dr Brown explained possible plans to fix my problem, i decided to have a tooth removed and then to get a bridge$3k. AFTER the process to extract the tooth and prepare the two teeth on either side for the bridge Dr Brown surprised me and told me id have to have a root canal also, she never told me that there was a cavity in that tooth that was part of the plan of action. Root canal $800, if i knew the bill was going to be $4k i wouldve gotten a second opinion. Even though Dr Brown apologized about ot twlling me that my other tooth had a cavity she was very rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional. I regret going here. To top it all off i just received a bill for $110 from them today, i paid upfront both times i went to their office, idk why they think i owe more money now. Im sure some of the people working here are great but id try my luck somewhere else unless youve got thousands to fork over. read more
