There are some negative reviews of Dr. Steinbrunner here, and I can't imagine why. I've seen him for over a year now. My dentist referred me for observation of a tooth with resorption. At the first visit, he explained what resorption was and why it might be happening. At that point, no action was needed, so he asked me to return months later to make sure it was not getting worse. Unfortunately, it was, and I was having pain. He again explained carefully what was happening and that the pain was due to the proximity of the nerve. He told me that a root canal would be the way to proceed, and that we should be able to save the tooth and eliminate the pain I'd been having. I was not thrilled to hear that I needed a root canal, but felt comfortable with him and scheduled it. Root canals are no one's idea of fun, but Dr. Steinbrunner and his staff did everything possible to explain every step and keep me as comfortable as possible. When I indicated that I could still feel pain, he gave me more local anesthetic and waited for it to take effect before continuing. As promised, the pain was gone after the procedure, and I'm able to chew using that tooth once again. I had a concern about that same tooth weeks after the procedure. I called the office and they got me in that same day. It turns out it had nothing to do with the root canal, but rather a TMJ splint I wear at night. Dr. Steinbrunner helped me sort out what was happening, and I was able to get in touch with my TMJ doctor and all is well. I'm so impressed with his compassion, experience, and professionalism...I can't imagine where those other reviews came from! read more

I have dental anxiety. When my dentist told me I needed to see an endodontist, I felt like it was the end of my world. Okay, I am exaggerating, but you know what I mean. First time at Westside Endodontic Professionals; the lobby area is a good size and clean. The front desk staff was friendly (sorry forgot her name); she asked me how I was doing. I replied, "I'm good, thank you!" I wanted to tell her I was very nervous and wanted to throw up, but I didn't. I arrived on time and waited for less than 5 minutes; Dr. Steinbrunner and his staff were ready for me. Then Dr. Steinbrunner's staff (sorry, I forgot her name too. That's how nervous I was) took me to THE room. She helped me to take some X-rays, and Dr. Steinbrunner showed up after 5 minutes. He explained to me that I had a cracked tooth and one needed to retreat on the root canal. WHAT? I didn't even know I had a cracked tooth. I read the reviews on Westside Endodontic Professionals, Ltd.; Dr. Steinbrunner had a bad review on one of them. My dental anxiety got even worse after reading that review. However, after talking to Dr. Steinbrunner, I disagreed with the lady who gave him a bad review. Dr. Steinbrunner is professional, kind, polite, efficient, patient, and welcoming. His bedside manner is fantastic. After talking to him, I knew I was in good hands. I showed up two days after my evaluation for my root canal appointment. Again, I was nervous, so nervous that I had to hold tight onto the arms of the chair. Dr. Steinbrunner understood I was nervous and so he numbed me well. The entire process was not as scary as I thought. He had everything done in less than 30 minutes. It's been a few days now since my root canal. I feel good. I have not taken one ibuprofen. I highly recommend Westside Endodontic Professionals, Ltd to all of you who need a root canal. I still have another tooth that needs to be fixed in August. Dr. Kurtz was great. I hate shots (who doesn't?) but when he numbed me before my root canal, I did not feel the shot at all! Dr. Kurtz was also very professional and courteous. He has a very poor attitude and don't ask for his professional expert opinion as he will refuse to provide it and just reply's "it's your decision. I took my 86 year old Mom to Dr Steinbrunner upon referral from her dentist. She had severe sensivity and pain and was told it was an abcess. The office staff and tech were very nice, but Dr Steinbrunner was rude, condescending and sarcastic from the very beginning. I was sent here by my dentist for an emergency root canal. Lucky me. Dr. Gettleman and his staff stayed late so that I could get my really painful situation taken care of. His staff is very professional and during the procedure Dr. Gettleman and his assistant worked so well together that I was really impressed. I speak from experience because I have really sh&$!y teeth and end up on these places more than I care to. I'm currently nursing, so his staff reached out to my pediatrician to triple check that the local anesthesia and pain medications were appropriate. The tooth could have been taken care of in two procedures, but since we found out I had to abstain from nursing for 24 hours, he took care of everything during this visit. Dr Steinbrunner & the staff were great! I started having severe pain with a tooth that my dentist fixed a cracked filling on but ended up too close to the nerve. They got me in the next day. Once determined it needed to come out they got me into an oral surgeon & got the surgery scheduled for the next morning. They saw how much pain I was in & they did all the work for me to have the tooth extracted. I am extremely grateful for them getting me fixed up in less than a day. With the healthcare system I'm so used to them putting everything on the patient to do. It felt amazing to have to do nothing but show up. I would highly recommend them to anyone!! read more

I had a dental emergency with a tooth that developed an abscess over the weekend. My dentist, genius Dr Mettler, sent me to the wonderful Dr Allard who felt Dr. Gettleman's expertise was warranted! He was right! The front office staff are kind and professional; his DA, Alicia, was very sweet and obviously knows her stuff; and Dr Gettleman immediately made it clear that in his chair was exactly where I needed to be! It's not completely resolved and it's going to be a process but I'm already feeling better. Reviewing doctors is tough. We shouldn't base our reviews on our outcome, medicine isn't an exact science. How we are handled as patients though, that's where they succeed or fail, regardless of wether or not they can fix us. And this office was helping me the minute I walked into the door! This location had nice check in representatives however the doctor there is completely rude and disrespectful. My initial visit Dr. Steinbrunner gave an irritated reply to all of. He asked my problem but gave sarcastic remarks to my answers. He rescheduled my visit due to the fact that his shots did not numb me. He was short and disrespectful a second time after grabbing my lower lip without warning. I tried as best as I could to follow all of his instructions as he requested but then proceeded to write a referral to another doctors office. This man rudely grabbed my lip without explaining why. When I felt this I became upset. He became even more short and rude after questioning him about why I was being referred to a different location. Giving me no thoroughness in what he was doing. Because of his actions, I would highly suggest avoiding this location. Do not go there! read more

I've been to multiple other dental offices in the past year due to a recurring tooth issue. Each of those visits was frustrating, time-consuming, expensive, and painful. I was finally referred to Dr. Gettleman at Westside Endodontics and boy was I glad for that referral! This office is nothing short of fantastic, from the receptionists at the front desk, to the modern equipment, to the talented Dr. Gettleman himself. I have since come to learn that Dr. Gettleman not only practices Endodontics, but also teaches it to other less experienced practitioners. This guy has a well-deserved, stellar reputation from other dentists all over the valley. Look, nobody looks forward to a root canal. I have had quite a bit of dental work the past month, and was still having pain. I was referred to dr. Gettleman, but he was unavailable at the time, so I saw dr. Steinbrunner instead. He was HORRIBLE. Firstly, when I explained I had pain on the top and bottom, he told me that was not possible and I needed to pick one. He then asked me in a sarcastic tone what I wanted to do. I explained that's why I was the to see him, because my other dentist did not know why I was still in this much pain. Normally, I do not even take Advil for a headache, but now I am taking vicodine every 6 hours. Something is wrong. He then told me it did not matter what he did, I would always be in pain. Long story short, the office is nice enough, and the front desk staff seemed fine,but dr. Steinbrunner was mean, sarcastic, and rude. He would not even look at my top tooth until I asked three times. I was charged $100 for a visit that was unproductive and if anything, made me feel worse. read more

Dr. Steinbrunner needs to take a patient/ doctor communication class. Be honest, explain treatment, results, possible risks and outcome. After 4 weeks from the 1st root canal on 1 tooth, I now have an "nasty", (assistants words), infection they are trying to get rid of, last week I was told to take penicillin "just in case". How do you know a week later that I have a bad infection? After telling the dentist I was frustrated he stated, "I can give you another antibiotic if you want?" I said "I 'm not the dentist, last week you told me to take penicillin just in case?" then he said "well, I'll send you to an oral surgeon and he'll pull it out right now!" Should have gotten to this sooner. Had a tooth "blow up" on me about 2 months ago. Truly the worst pain I have ever felt! I was rushed to this office and was truly amazed with the speed of which they got to me, got me OUT of pain, and fixed my tooth. I have used these docs twice before for non-emergency issues. All three experiences have been excellent. Talk about compassion. My face started swelling on the Sat after the emergency. I called the doc on call. He was at his son's sporting event, doing the announcing, and was ready to bail and come to me immediately. Unreal. I declined, asked for some suggestions, followed them and did fine. I'm a young professional that has never required any dental work so I was quite nervous when I found out from my family dentist I would need a root canal and a crown on one of my front teeth. I asked around for recommendations and was referred to Westside Endodontic Professionals. They got me in right away for a consult with Dr Kurtz to go over my images and he clarified my diagnosis. Dr Gettelman is awesome! I have been terrified of dentists of any kind for my entire life. Last year I needed a root canal, I was stunned when it was completed as it was completely painless and so quick! While I will probably never say I enjoy going to the dentist, Dr. Gettelman makes it so much more comfortable. Today I needed another procedure done which required more extensive work and once again it was quick and painless. He cares about your concerns and has a very calming demeanor. His assistant is super and efficient, and the front desk staff is pleasant and helpful. Can't say enough about this wonderful professional. Stay away and find another location. One of the most horrible experiences in my life. John Kurtz was the one working on me and not sure how in God's green earth does this man hold a license to practice in Arizona. I had a root canal done and during the first visit my tooth was very sensitive to cold and hot and during the end the procedure I had a very sharp pain so he a schedule a second appointment due to my infection of the tooth. Second appointment 10/10/20 same process towards the end of the procedure the same pain came back 10x. He stopped and explained, you still have an infection and need a 3rd appointment and was done at that point. How about some antibiotics the first time to address it the 2nd time. If want extreme pain you found the right place! My next complaint will be Arizona State Board of Dental, BBB and my insurance. They are going to refund $94.00 but they can keep it and send this Kurtz back to school! read more

I really struggled to find a treatment program for my infected previously treated root canal/crown. After the third flare up on this crown in a month, having seen six dentists who clearly had no idea what to do with it and making it clear that the most important thing about me was my insurance situation, I was really in a bind. So I Yelped a dentist (Dr. Radcliffe) and without taking any more time or money, they referred me to Dr. Bradley Gettleman. His office staff set the whole day in the right direction. You know when you are getting really great care? When the doctor's staff asks you to tell them what is going on and then sets your appointment without asking about money or insurance issues. I understand that payment is due at the time of service. I'm an adult with a serious medical/dental problem and I want the best care possible. I do not want my insurance card to be more important than my medical needs. Clearly I was finally on the right track with Westside Endo. I came in on the same day (today) and Dr. Gettlemen took exceptional care of me. I cannot tell you how appreciative I am of him and his staff for doing business THE RIGHT WAY. He treated my tooth, discovered that the tooth was cracked beyond repair and has referred me to an oral surgeon to continue my treatment tomorrow. After weeks of being run around by different dentists and feeling like all they wanted was money, I got some real help today. The bill was far less than I expected and I would recommend this practice to anyone who has a serious tooth issue. I know I got the best care possible. I was referred to see Dr. Bradley Gettleman by my general dentist. I had a cracked tooth and Dr Gettleman established the crack was too far to save the tooth and it would need to be removed. He proceeded to do a root canal on the tooth. I feel I was duped. The Dr did not inquire on my pain level. He should have been my advocate and made a decision not to do a root canal on a tooth that needed to be removed. I'm out of $300 which I was informed after the procedure that my dental insurance would not cover the procedure, described as incomplete endo tx, inoperable. I now have to pay again for an oral surgeon to remove the tooth. I feel he could have educated me in order for me to make a decision for the root canal or not. read more

Having dental work done is usually something I dread. I was apprehensive at the prospect of having two root canal procedures done at the same time. I had the root canals done about 11 months ago. The procedure went quickly and was virtually painless. Dr Steinbrunner, his assistant, and the office staff were great! Since then, I had to go back for a follow up a few months later and recently for a consult requested by my orthodontist on a gum issue . I was able to get a quick appointment. After taking xrays, Dr Steinbrunner found the cause...an infection near an implant I had done years ago. He took a lot of time explaining where the infection started and what my orthodontist will have to do to take care of it. Having been a teacher, I was extremely impressed with the time be took to explain my problem. He didn't even charge me for today's visit. I highly recommend him and his office to anyone! read more

I was referred to Westside at Christmas time when my dentist office was closed. I was in terrible pain and needed an emergency root canal. I saw Dr. Steinbrunner and he was confused on which tooth needed the root canal as the whole side of my mouth was hurting. So he told me to 'pick which tooth I wanted the root canal on" (his words). At that point I started crying because I knew he was not going to be able to help me. I'm sure he is a good dentist, but I can't imagine telling a patient to pick which tooth they wanted to have work done on. I had no idea where the pain was coming from and I assumed since he was the professional that he would be able to help. Unfortunately, I was wrong. The bad part about it all was that I had my two little girls in the room with me and they had to watch me cry in the dental chair while he just sat there and waiting for me to pick which tooth to work on. I left without any work done and went straight to my father's dentist (Dr. Benso at West Valley Dental) who did the root canal right away. read more

Dr. Gettleman and his staff are INCREDIBLE! I had a re-treat of a root canal done. It's all a very long story, but what's important is how Dr. Gettleman treated me not only as a patient, but as a human being. Prior to the procedure, we discussed the percentage of root canal re-treats that were typically successful. He told me he followed his patients for a period of time to confirm they were not having any issues because he truly cared about his patients. He was an endodontist because he loved what he did, he said for him it wasn't about the money, he wanted to help people. Those statements were tested through the course of my treatment and Dr. Gettleman passed every step of the way. If I had any questions/concerns throughout the recovery process, he didn't hesitate to have me come in, and worked around my schedule the best he could. His staff was very friendly and caring.
