So six family members ended up renting all three Sanborn properties for the weekend, each had very positive things to say. My husband and I stayed at the Coronado for four nights and absolutely loved it! For $85 a night, you can't beat having a full kitchen and FREE wifi! I think we managed to only buy two meals while were were on our trip. We spent about $100 on groceries at the Smart & Final near the apartment, and cooked most of our meals there, which saved us a ton of money! The host we talked to a couple of times, Jonathon, was very friendly and helped us with our luggage right off the bat. One huge plus was not having to clean the apartment before we checked out. I have rented a handful of houses before which we always had to "clean" ourselves if we didn't want to pay extra. The Coronado did not make us clean (even though we did as much as we could to not look like slobs upon leaving for common courtesy). I saw other people complain about thin walls, and hearing the other tenants in the building. That was never an issue while we were there. One of our favorite features was the rear entry to the private parking area. We didn't use the front door once while we were there. The only thing I would want to mention is that the driveway to the private parking is SO narrow, it would be unlikely that anything other than a small SUV or car could make it up the driveway. There's no way a Tahoe or anything large like that would be able to utilize the private parking. It worked fine for us in our Jeep Patriot, but we had to be very careful. The apartment isn't in the best neighborhood, but it seemed safe enough while we were there, and it's just minutes from Silver Lake and some great shopping on Sunset Blvd. There was a great view of the city at night from our balcony, and I really enjoyed looking out at night when the city was all lit up. All and all, we very much enjoyed our stay at the CORONADO and would highly recommend it, and stay there again. We also visited Tyler's Place where my in-laws were staying, and it was really nice. I probably wouldn't stay there however, as they had to share a kitchen with other guests they didn't know. That would work great if both sides of the house were being rented by people in your party though.

Oh sorry, the shower head was completely rusted over, the tub did not drain, and you get to stand in dirt and hair and other people soup around your ankles while you shower in rust. There was a badly patched hole in the floor. Severe water damage. General wear and tear. Everything was dirty, dusty, and filthy. I asked management to unclog my tub, clean the shower, and get linens. They did none of these things. Expedia called the hotel and the best they could do was remove the stopper from the clogged tub. Management refused to give me my money back. Expedia gave like a 50 dollar voucher. I checked out and slept in my car. This place has decent reviews on multiple platforms. Now I highly suspect that these reviews were paid for. I beg, you. DON'T stay here. And if you pay at check in you will not get a refund from the motel. You have been warned. P.S. I know some people dislike the virtual front desk, but I enjoyed how I was able to get checked in pretty seamlessly and smoothly for both of my rooms. The staff working the desk did great and answered any questions we had. There's two sides to the parking lot for this hotel, with only one side with the driveway open. Parking isn't free even though it looks free to someone who doesn't have a reservation here. You pay $15 for one car to park in your reservation per night, and an additional car is $20. They ask for the car color, make, model, and year of your car so just have that info prepared. Both of the rooms were pretty clean and impressive despite the old building this hotel is in. I slept well through the night as the AC/heater system was on and it was also easy to adjust and worked perfectly well. The TV isn't a smart TV and plays cable channels. There was a medium-sized mini-fridge to our delight and there was even a microwave included. Blowdryer in the bathroom with sample sized shampoo and conditioner. No ironing board, no pool, or personal gym. Elevator worked smoothly and there's a staircase to walk up at easily. You can use one of the two luggage carts at the lobby for a very smooth process with luggage. Easy drive to the Galleria mall and is also nearby many restaurants. If you need to go anywhere in Glendale early in the morning, I definitely recommend staying here for a night! - 24 hour free coffee/water station

The Saga Motel in Pasadena, is located across from the Pasadena City College. The first impression…read morewas in the check-in office which had a really bad old smell. Parking is mostly in the back. It has a really nice pool, compared to the tiny pool at the Howard Johnson's next door. The rooms are relatively large, with a big windows. Windows either face an apartment building (North side) and the parking lot on the backside, or Colorado Blvd. And Pasadena City College on the south (Front side) I stayed in a King room on the second floor. There are no elevators, no luggage carts, no microwave. You'll need to be able to climb up quite a few stairs if your room is on the top floor. Rooms feel very dated with the only USB or 3-Prong AC slots being on a desk. All of the rest of the AC slots are ancient two prong slots. You'll find it amusing if you've stayed at other motels and hotels, when they hand you a physical key for your room. Lose it and you'll be charged $200. There are two locks on the door. A lock in the door knob and a deadbolt lock. I thought I had the wrong key, because I didn't realize it had a lock in the door knob, and the key provided does not work in the deadbolt lock, which I was trying to open. The bed was an old school spring mattress and wasn't very comfortable. It was too firm. The furniture is well made and good quality, but reminded me of something I would see at a Goodwill or Salvation army thrift store. The television was the smallest I've seen in any motel or hotel in recent years. Not having a Microwave, for the price charged to stay here is a big disadvanatage. It had a well working air conditioner and a large mini-fridge with a separate freezer section. I wouldn't recommend these rooms for watching the Rose Parade from the room. You wouldn't be able to see much and the noise would be pretty bad. There was considerable noise from guests and room doors closing and opening in the hallway. The shower and restroom is relatively small, with no hand rails in the tub. You'll need to put a rubber non-slip mat down inside. There was no-ventilation fan in the restoom. Interestingly, there were quite a few books in the room under the TV for those who enjoy reading, and I think this location might be an o.k. place for an avid book reader who wants to get away to an 1950's t0 70's experience. It reminded me a little of rooms I saw while watching the, "I love lucy" tv show. A continental breakfast is provided each morning, bigger and better than what you'll get at the Howard Johnson's next door. I met several guests while entering and leaving my room, they all seemed to be from outside of the United States, from perhaps Canada or Europe. Which honestly makes sense, because this location is primarily listed on large booking websites only, or its own website. It was clean, didn't have any unusual old smells, chemical smells, etc. Which means it's probably fairly safe for those with allergies or respiratory issues. This would not be a location I would want to stay at for more than a few days. It is a little pricey for the area based on its limited amenities. You'll need to eat out most likely unless you're eating cold food and sandwiches. There are a lot of food options within walking distance. I would stay here again, but not for more than one or two nights max. I would stay here over the Pasadena Travel Lodge, or Ramada. This location is family owned and operated, speaking Taiwanese and English. My only encounter with an a non-front desk employee was less than desirable.

I have seen this before with DIRECTTV at hotels and I would never have them at home based on this. Channel selection decent. There is a nice desk space, fridge, coffeemaker, wardrobe closet, smaller L-shaped sofa. Ours was a little soft in the cushions. It may need retirement soon. No microwave present. Coffee brand is Rainforest Alliance, and I have tasted much better. Powdered creamer did not help. Liquid half/half in room would be so much nicer. Framed art is beautiful and features the spectacular Pasadena bridge. Kenet bath products are solid quality. The bed is MEDIUM firm and comfortable. Dual nightstands, great windows keep the room quiet even though we're above the outdoor jumbo chess set and pool. Nice powerful AC in room. Parking is convenient, fairly priced for the hood and spots are good sized. Hyatt Place has become my favorite in this tier of hotels for many reasons, and we try all major brands (Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott). INCLUDED BREAKFAST: amazing small crispy firm breakfast potatoes; chive scrambled eggs; pork sausage links just right; plain donut holes (lightly sweet and room temp, not frozen); "bold" coffee is A+ smooth and not sour nor bitter; yogurt/oatmeal bar toppings are 15 or more items and 2nd to NONE with even having cubed dried papaya fruit; vanilla yogurt with blueberries and strawberries was bomb; every milk or creamer you could want including oat milk; many nut options too.
