She was quick to remind us that this isn't a hotel, and encouraged us to think of her as our "Auntie Bibi from Malibu." That means: be respectful of her property, certain facilities (ie the jacuzzi) are off-limits, and clean up after yourself. No problem, why wouldn't we? We stayed in the Yurt. What's a Yurt? The best way to think of it is a permanent tent, or just to google it to get a better visual. This isn't camping. It's not even glamping. It has a built-in kitchen, hardwood floors, a loft-bed, a tv, and bathroom with toilet and showers. Oh, and most importantly, a heater! I loved it. And we ordered an optional home-cooked dinner which was made mostly with ingredients from Bibi's certified-organic orchard. We had the shepherd's pie, which was incredible. If you're looking for a hip hotel, a party spot, or even someplace "close to the action," this is NOT the place for you. It's an incredible place to go for a quiet retreat. To meditate. To get back to nature. To go hiking. To lounge and read. Or simply to enjoy Malibu from the perspective of a local. There are two other options: a Zen Room, which appeared to be the lower floor of Bibi and Bruce's house, and they are building a Safari-like tent with a queen-sized bed inside. If you're looking for an opportunity to recharge your batteries...this is the place to do it.

I went for a run along the beach. When I came back my feet were covered in tar. It took me a long time to get it off as soap doesn't work well. If you got tar on yourself, cooking oil works well to remove it. I was having a nice time until my feet got covered in tar. I'm not sure if it's the road construction nearby or the naval base that caused the tar problem. I probably wouldn't return. The beach charges $3/hour or $8/day to park at the beach. I recommend picking a different beach. Although there are some hikes nearby here that have awesome views.

Zuma Beach is on of my favorite beaches in Southern California. It is located in Malibu off PCH and…read morethe traffic on PCH is often terrible, so leave early and expect to be in traffic on your way back. Part of the beach is used for surfing and that is fun to watch if you don't surf. They keep the area clean. Parking is for a fee. It is most beautiful at sunset. If you are not a good swimmer do not go swimming in the water or let your kids go swimming alone. There are life guards most of the time and they are great, but really you could drown. Zuma has a strong riptide that will just take you away and if you are not a strong swimmer this will not be fun. I don't swim there anymore even though I have all the Red Cross cards you can get for swimming, even lifeguard. But that was some time ago, I am much older now, and will not go beyond my calfs. It is also cold water all winter and nippy in the summer. Be careful. The lagoon area is a great place to see birds. The place one of the largest, widest, and popular stretches of sand in Malibu. It is known for its clean water and has been used many times for and appearances in TV shows and movies like Baywatch and Planet of the Apes. It really is stunning.

There is electricity available inside and the bathrooms have 2 stalls and a shower. There is also a large cabinet to store small items. I was also concerned about the food because of prior reviews (burned hamburgers and cold cuts). It was 100% not true! Both mornings we had hot eggs and potatoes. One morning included sausage. There was a nice assortment of yogurt, fresh fruit and oatmeal with lots of extra toppings, along with nice pastries. Lunches were also quite nice and included hot entrees, salad and goodies. Dinners were hot meats, baked potatoes with lots of toppings to choose and cooked vegetables. I was more than satisfied with the amount and quality of the food. Even though our party arrived a little late on the first night, there was parking available near our cabin. Lots of varied activities were also available for all ages and abilities. Our group is looking forward to going again.

We had over 120 guests, and Alma, Jazz, and the entire team were wonderful to work with throughout the planning process. Alma was highly communicative, responsive, and friendly. She made herself available for venue walkthroughs, allowed us to take measurements, and helped answer questions as we planned every detail of the event. On the day of our baby shower, she was on-site and a pleasure to work with, helping ensure everything ran smoothly. One feature that really stood out was their event dashboard. It made it easy to keep track of payments, send messages, access signed documents, and stay organized throughout the planning process. The resort itself is clean, well-maintained, and feels new. The event space is spacious, inviting, and well-suited for larger gatherings. The commercial kitchen was a huge plus and was exceptionally clean and well-equipped. We also appreciated having convenient access to their inventory of round tables, banquet tables, and chairs, which made planning and setup much easier. Our event included a 3-hour baby shower, with 2 hours for setup and 1 hour for breakdown, and the venue worked perfectly for our needs. Normally from the top and working my way down to the MASH filming site. Hence not knowing about the actual full camping experience. Anyway, lol... We were meeting some friends to help them celebrate a big birthday over the weekend. Me and camping, that's something we can discuss later. I'll just say, I'm more of the fours season, room service and nice comfy bed, enough said. It's actually not that far off the 101 freeway. Give or take a couple miles heading towards the mountain just past Mulholland. Make a right at the entrance sign and you're greeted with the park ranger station. We were only here for the day to meet up with friends but fees are implied. Hourly at 3.00 or you can get the full day for 12.00. Upon check in, they do ask where you're heading to and so on. We had to give our friends information, their campsite number and first and last name. It was pretty busy when we arrived Sunday afternoon as I believe there was a marathon that was happening. From the ranger station, it was maybe a mile or so down the road to the campsite. It was a straight shot up. You do get a lot of people here which I did not know or been to this side. The campsite has assigned parking spot for 2 cars I believe. They do have overflow parking spots if you have other cars. Spots are assigned with a bbq grill and a picnic table and water spigot. Looking around the site, some are bigger where it seems like you could get a couple of tents while others looked like it's mainly room for one tent. Campsites are pretty close to each other depending on what side you get. Parking is pretty decent in size for a trailer as well as a car. There's no camping bones in me so I cant review on roughing it...lol... Restrooms are scattered throughout which was nice. Decent and clean with a good amount of toilet paper but no seat covers. Bring your own please. They had sinks inside each of the restrooms as well as the communal on the sides. Showers are available and but a small fee if you wanted hot water. Our friends said it was quite nice with the cool water as it was pretty hot out. Just be careful around your surroundings as you are in nature. But being in the campground, it was safe but still be cautious. I don't know if it was the food we had or what but the bees and wasps was loving our site. It made it quite uncomfortable trying to eat. Hiking is nearby with a good amount of trails. Some of the group did do a hike to the pond/creek which there's still water but green. I don't know if there's a pool in the area for cooling down. Overall, the place was quite nice and organized. Campsites are decent and pretty much nice that grill and picnic tables are included. Some sites does get full sun while some was nice with shade as there's trees surrounding. Fees wasn't expensive as well as daily site fee. It does get dark at night as expected so make sure to have a flashlight. Pets are allowed on the campground. Over, it was pretty nice knowing that this was just a little ways out of the city and your in nature.

After taking my nephews baby bump photos a couple years ago we've been back a couple times to camp. Both experiences were wonderful. We were able to try out both sides of the campgrounds. Our most recent camping trip was in the middle of June. Weather was great in the 80's and we didn't really notice with the cool breeze passing by. Our spot was perfect! We had a giant tree giving us shade on our picnic table during the day and a big open field to gaze at the stars at night. We were just a short walk across the field to get to the restroom/showers. We stayed for 2 nights. Everyone there was very friendly and observed the quiet time at 10 pm. Will definitely be coming back again in the future! Only con is I wish that they would post the fire condition on the website so you can prepare before heading out on your trip. We brought some fire wood not knowing that the fire conditions were yellow. Tried calling before we left the house but no one answered the phone. Had we know. We would have brought more propane to cook with. They do sell fire wood at the campground, but that doesn't so anyone any good when fire conditions are high. The closest store is a bit far away so just come prepared for both conditions if you decide to come during summer.

We came with a large group of friends so we booked the Rancho Grande Howard Creek, Rancho Grande Historic and the Rancho Grande Fish Camp. Essentially, we had the entire ranch for ourselves. I believe only the Rancho Grande Historic has a bathroom inside - the Fish Camp and Howard Creek share bathroom which is walking distance from Fish Camp or via a Gator Utility Vehicle if you are staying on Howard Creek. Anyway, there was no issue for any of us getting around the Ranch. Plenty of Gator Utility Vehicles were provided (I think 4 total and we used all 4). But if you prefer driving your vehicle around, you can do so too. There is a communal area with a fridge and kitchen so thats were we had our meals. Its by the lake so its a nice view. We were able to paddle boat, kayak and go fishing. Kids specially loved petting and feeding the goats, dogs, camel (YES, a camel) and the alpaca. Owners were really friendly every time we bumped into them. Great stay and I would recommend this to everyone. Our only hiccup was that it was really cold at night and one of the heaters went out and my child has had a runny nose since. But other than that - amazing experience.
