fumigating the room next door?
Nathan M.

The room I was in (room 109) presented me with a different type of cockroach every night I was there (one on my nightstand, one coming out of an access panel above the shower (pictured below)). On the second night, i asked the hotel if they had a different room due to the infestation in my room. The employee at the front desk stated that they had no vacancy and left me with a can of roach spray to fend for myself. Upon check out the next morning, I noticed the room next to me (room 110) seemed to be set up for possible fumigation (pictured below). When I went to ask for a refund (through an agent at hotels.com) from the property for only one of the two nights I had stayed there, they were unwilling. Dont stay here if you can at all help it. In my experience, the motel doesn't really seem to care about the cleanliness of its rooms so much so that there are cockroaches (as well as ants) everywhere. I was only able to actually sleep one of the two nights I stayed there. Never again.

Very friendly staff and the rooms were clean and comfortable. A wonderful value; I'll stay here again next time I'm in Glendale.

I would Not recommend this place. Very smelly. We asked to exchange, all the rooms were horribly stinky.

We were on the second floor (for some reason, my husband likes the lower floors if there's no view), unless you plan on enjoying the pool or are in charge of meetings happening in the conference rooms, do not ask for the second floor. Children running down the hall and yelling in excitement about the pool was a little annoying - mind you, I do *not* blame the children, nor do I blame the hotel staff. Kids running and yelling in the hall (and one kicking our door on his way) is on the parents for letting it happen. The rooms are clean and give you plenty of space. The breakfast was pretty darned fantastic, omelets and even pancakes/waffles/french toast (it appears they change up the carb offerings every morning). It's a really large breakfast offering, being allergic to to egg I didn't take a lot of time wandering around because I always just go straight for the cereal. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is terrific, there's a little store onsite but there are also a couple of convenience stores not too far away. We'll definitely be there again next time we're in the area. I have stayed at Embassy Suites by Hilton Glendale multiple times and am a loyal Hilton customer…read more In general, I've always appreciated Hilton hotels because of their friendly and accommodating staff. Unfortunately, my most recent stay was extremely disappointing. There were several maintenance and cleanliness issues throughout my stay. The bathroom conditioner dispenser was not properly secured to the wall and repeatedly fell off during the night. Although it was supposedly fixed, the same issue happened multiple times. The coffee machine was also not cleaned properly. It still contained old black residue left behind by a previous guest, and I had to request a replacement. The worst issue was the bathroom. There was a strong sewage odor that made it feel like we were next to a sewer. I reported it to the front desk, but despite informing them, the problem was never resolved during our stay. To make matters worse, when I received my final bill, I was charged $3 for a bottle of water that I had used to rinse the dirty coffee machine because it was unusable as provided. What disappointed me the most was the lack of management involvement. Despite all of these issues, the General Manager never reached out to acknowledge the poor experience. A simple concern for the guest's experience would have gone a long way. I have always enjoyed staying at Hilton properties, which is why this experience was so surprising. I hope management takes guest feedback more seriously and provides additional customer service training to ensure situations like this are handled much better in the future.

And by the way tell management it's not hard to use personal hotspot. The front desk staff were rude, unreasonable, and completely unwilling to help resolve a simple booking issue. We had a legitimate reservation made under the guest's name, but because the guest did not have the original credit card used to book the room, the staff refused to honor the reservation. Rather than offer an alternative payment method, verify the booking, or make any reasonable effort to accommodate the situation, they simply refused service and canceled the reservation. Worst of all, their actions left my elderly mother without a place to stay. The complete lack of compassion, professionalism, and basic customer service was appalling. There were plenty of ways this could have been handled without turning away an elderly guest. Instead, the staff chose to be dismissive and unhelpful. I would strongly discourage anyone from staying here, especially if you're booking a room for a family member. A hotel should provide hospitality, not leave guests stranded over an issue that could have been resolved with a little common sense and courtesy.

Free valet parking is one of the perks. The attendant, (Josiah) whom I later learned is a supervisor, sat at the valet booth, did not move to help us and said nothing. A valet staff ran from across the street to get our attention because the valet was full. He told us where to park down the alley, which was $38/night. The supervisor still did not move to help. He kept his head down doing paperwork, never said a word to us and I saw him leaving for home a short while later. The rest of our stay was good, but what is said about first impressions is true. The bartender, Jud, was very attentive and welcoming. Our room was adequate and comfortable. We had a quiet night's rest and enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Perfect midway stop from San Francisco to San Diego. It is within walking distance of several quaint neighborhood restaurants which added a nice local touch to our stay and made it convenient to grab dinner. The biggest drawback was the parking and traffic flow. It took us nearly 20 minutes just to get into the driveway to unload our luggage and check in because of the line of cars waiting to pull in. Checking out wasn't much better--we also had to wait while cars backed up in the driveway before we could leave. Parking is expensive, with self-parking at $30 per day in the rear lot or valet parking at $45 per day, plus a service fee. One of the highlights of the hotel was the bar and lounge area. After a full day of sightseeing, it was the perfect place to unwind with a drink in a comfortable atmosphere. Breakfast is served daily from 7:00-10:00 AM and offers a generous selection. There were sausages, scrambled eggs, French toast sticks, steel-cut oats, coffee, juices, and plenty of other breakfast options. The dining area was spacious, although it became crowded during peak hours, making it difficult to find a table. Overall, Hyatt Place Glendale offers spacious accommodations, a welcoming lounge, a great walkable location near local dining, and an excellent complimentary breakfast. The only downside was the congested arrival and departure experience, along with the costly parking.

To quote another review - very "mid" Could not checkin at 1pm - "no rooms ready" - ok I get that particularly on a Saturday when the entire Wisconsin football program is staying here. But why not finish the checkin and then just assign the actual room later as Marriott, Hyatt and every other chain does? As it turns out I did not return until 10pm or so at which point I had to worry that that they would walk me. (was a 3rd party booking so did not appear in the app). Come 10pm - there is now a line of 3 and 1 clerk working. I get staffing at smaller properties but this is a massive hotel they should at least have another clerk ready to help. Finally get assigned to a decent 11th floor room. Took a nice hot shower, then immediately went to sleep as I had a 7am flight. Room looks like the photos. Lots of electric outlets which I like. Temp was set in metrics. Bathroom is decent sized. Come 5:30am, I go for another shower and zero hot water. Zero. Seriously? Overall a decent business property for this area, particularly if you don't want to stay in Pasadena or want to be minutes from BUR. Definitely not worth the $300 last-minute rate.

I was surprised and disappointed to find out that the hotel couldn't manage to get distilled water for my CPAP. This hadn't been a problem during my recent stays at the nearby JW Marriott or Chateau Marmont. The desk agent suggested that I try Uber Eats. I ended up ordering a delivery from Walmart. The bathroom in my corner suite was large. The walk-in shower had a choice of three different shower heads. However, many of the bath towels felt thin and were getting ragged along the edges. Several of the light switches are confusing. For example, there is a button for a "down light" in the bathroom. I never quite figured out what that meant. Plenty of bottled water (boxes, actually) were provided in my room. The concierge was unable to get my room serviced during the two-hour window I requested. I could see housekeeping were cleaning rooms down the hall when I left for lunch. When I returned 90 minutes later, they were closer to my room but still had not even started cleaning it. I went down to the pool for an hour. When I came back they were still one room away. Once they arrived, housekeeping was mostly excellent during my stay. However, one evening turn down service skipped my room. It was strange. They turned off the "make up room" light but did nothing else. On another morning, I had the green "make up room" light turned on but housekeeping left a note that they "respected my privacy" and thus did not clean the room. The in house restaurant, San Laurel was good for breakfast but my dinner there was terrible. Service at The Beaudry Room bar, and out by the pool (Airlight), during the day was excellent. Unfortunately, service on the patio in the evening was not very good. The server was courteous, friendly, and indeed, down right bubbly, but apparently had far too many tables. It took more than 20 minutes to get a martini on the patio. If a venue is going to charge premium prices (almost $30 for a martini), the service should also be premium quality. There was a dead frog in the hallway just down from my door when I checked in. It was still there the following evening.
