You hate to leave these reviews, but I have to keep it honest. SO disappointed in V pizza and the management. We have come here several times for the wings (Calabrians the way to go), but our last experience has left us feeling like the food doesn't justify us foregoing the lack of service any longer. We clarified with our waitress that we do not eat pork or beef and asked if we can make substitutions to a pizza, she stated that this is totally fine and not an issue. We ordered accordingly, the pizza came out with sausage still on it which we could not eat. We notified the waitress who apologized and stated it would be remade to our order. When we received our check, we were charged for the substitution items. Considering it wasn't told to us there was an upcharge which normally doesn't happen with substitutions AND our initial pizza came out with meat we do not eat, this seemed ridiculous. The manager said he would fix it and proceeded to take off $2.50 the bill. Do better, V Pizza. read more

Today, I was really craving pizza, so I ordered a Margherita V Signature. I watched as they pulled it from the oven, boxed it up, and sliced it, ensuring it was as fresh as it could be. Since I live just 4 blocks away, the drive home only took 3 minutes. By the time I got home, the pizza was still hot, but unfortunately, it was SOGGY. On a Sunday night during the pandemic, Gainesville doesn't have many options that are open past 8. My buddy made a great find though with V Pizza. V Pizza is in downtown Gainesville, east of the University of Florida, besides a Hilton. This is the 3rd pizza place I have ate at in Gainesville after Satchel's and Leonardo's. The vibe of V Pizza is a hippie pizza dive/bar. There are 2 large ovens that are clearly visible that they use to cook everything in. Pizza is a no-go for me late at night but there are several other choices on the menu. With the waiter's help, I made some excellent choices. The first item that spoke to me on the menu was the mac and cheese. This was not just your average mac and cheese as it was made with Cavatappi noodles, smoked Gouda, cheddar, butter, fresh cream, house-made pesto, and cream cheese. I have never had a mac and cheese like it. I asked the waiter between wings or italian beef or sausage sandwich. He highly recommended the wings and even claimed they won best in state. He might have a point! These wings were phenomenal and venturesome. I went with the signature v wings that were marinated with fresh lemon, extra virgin olive oil, rosemary, garlic, salt & pepper, topped with caramelized onions. I eat wings a lot and like to try different flavors. I have never had a wing capture the flavor of The Signature V Wings. I finished up my meal with a chocolate mousse. For chocolate lovers like myself, you won't be disappointed. But it was not on the same level as the mac and cheese and wings. I came for the "Chicago Italian Beef". It didn't t meet my expectations as a native Chicagoan who grew up on the west side down the street from Scatchell's Beef Stand off Cermak and Cicero. If you've never had an Italian Beef, this is the bomb!!! The beef is well seasoned and the au jus is delicious. The bread is fresh and taste. The bread is soft. I enjoyed the food. We waited at the hostess stand several minutes before being told to sit wherever, another several minutes to get waited on, then about 20 minutes for my wife to get her order. I was told mine would be out soon, but another 20 minutes or so later it still had not arrived. The only server was out of sight probably 99% of the time we were there, so I had to find her to ask for the bill and to cancel my order. (No, I was not rude and made no comments as to why, she knew.) I felt waiting 45 minutes from ordering to not receiving a personal pizza was more than reasonable, especially considering they weren't busy. I usually try to give a place a second chance but there was nothing to indicate it would be better the next time. read more

This should be a low star review, regardless of great the food was, but isn't due to one crucial employee who went above & beyond. We came for the 1st time from 45mins away to try pizza that we love and have had on our travels. We arrived with a party of 6 on a Sat around noon. The place was empty and we stood at the door for 10mins before we found a single person and asked....are you open, may we sit? We knew immediately they were understaffed, but figured it would be ok since it wasn't busy and maybe they just opened, so more staff would be coming in. Nope! There was 1 person making food, 1 person bar tending, and 1 person waiting tables whom I felt terrible for as she was scattered with outside tables we didn't see and running herself ragged. We ordered at 12:30, starters: wings, bruschetta and decided to order 3 pizzas at that time as well. It was 40mins before we got our starters and almost an hour before pizza was on the table. WOW! Glad we had nothing else to do as that's a long wait for pizza & wings! We then found out the GM had a wedding today and therefore, no one was there to work, as all were at the wedding. Shame. The place was filling up quickly and I honestly felt bad for the 3 staff members working. The bar tender, Kat stepped up in a big way. She was doing all she could to maintain the place, but she was doing it and doing it well! The food was absolutely amazing, the pizza was off the chart delicious and worth the wait. We ordered the v wings and those too were a hit. And Kat, the bartender, made sure we were taken care of, happy, and did all she could to make our experience the best it could be under the circumstances. I hope the GM of this place realizes that while their food is delicious, it's the staff working, serving their guest that will make customers come back time and time again. You can't have 1 w/out the other, regardless of the food. While it's sad they left this place open for a wedding with only 3 staff members, those 3 employees held it together, worked as hard as 10 employees and deserve some serious praise! We will be back, because, yes, the food, but honestly to see the friendly smiling face of Kat. I know with her there, no matter the situation or circumstance, she will make our dining experience top notch! I love the vibe and energy here, not to mention the food and drinks are on point! My first visit was on a Friday night, we skipped the 40 minute wait and opted for a seat at the bar. The bar gorgeously slopes around (instead of a straight line) allowing you to be turned towards your dining partner and of course better people watching, lol! I was thrilled to learn they have blue cheese stuffed olives for my dirty martini, not to mention a cocktail list that I plan on working my way around. We had grand plans of starting with the wings, but alas they were out of wings, boo. So, we ordered the pizza with meatballs on it. The meatballs were SO good that we ordered a second course of meatballs by themselves and some killer tiramisu for dessert. If you know San Marzano tomatoes, you will fall in love with this pizza, I don't usually like tomatoes... unless it's San Marzano! On subsequent visits we finally got to try the wings, a meatball panini, and the fabulous cannoli. The wings were a little disappointing for me, a little too much char and a tad too spicy (even the ones that were described as not being spicy), but my husband devoured them. Think high-end, not half-time wings. The panini should have been a slam dunk since we love the meatballs but it seems they must not use the same amazing San Marzano tomatoes for the sauce that they do on the pizza? The only thing that could make this better would be two additional pizza toppings: fig and honey to replicate my favorite pizza ever... a fig, honey, & prosciutto white pizza. We ended up getting the Mac and cheese pizza, no pancetta, half with extra mushrooms and half with extra chicken. I love that V pizza is willing to split the pizza and accommodate dietary restrictions! Overall the vibe is great at V pizza, and the cocktails from the associated sidecar is a great addition. I preferred to go with beer this time around and loved that they serve La Fin du Monde here, one of my long time favorite beers. Will definitely be back. I've tried the Calabrian chicken pizza before too which is bomb. Our waitress felt bad that we had to wait a little long for our pizza (they had run out of macaroni) and even comped us free dessert! I was really surprised at how delicious the pizzas are here! V pizza is still relatively new to Gainesville but they're really making efforts to reach out to the local community which is great. It is a small chain and has a few locations in Florida. First off, the interior is beautiful - it has a rustic yet classy kind of feel. You can see the workers in the back put pizzas into three huge wood fired ovens. The restaurant is a great place to take pictures and throw events; they emailed my student organization to advertise that they do host large dinners / banquets. The pizzas match the rustic feel of the interior. They're a bit burnt, a bit out of shape, and very delicious. These aren't your typical "chain store" pizzas - they're smaller, more gourmet and served at a higher price point. Even though the pizzas are more expensive, you can taste the quality in the ingredients and craftsmanship. The dough is slightly chewy (in a good way) and super fragrant; it's imported from Italy and have a lower glucose content than regular American dough. The sauce is made from San Marzano tomatoes which is also shipped from Italy; these tomatoes are known to be he most flavorful in the world. I think the flavors on the pizza are combined really well. I got the margherita and a meat lover's pizza. Both were good but I liked the margherita more because it's more classic / simple. V pizza prides itself on bringing napoletana style pizza to Gainesville and I think they are very successful in doing so. From the imported dough to the expert sauce to the fresh mozzarella (I heard it was made from buffalo milk), V pizza is a slice of Italian heaven located in our town. read more

They were super accommodating to us asking for a pizza to be half and half and didn't charge us any extra for doing that which we really appreciated. The wings are something they are famous for, they're not super crispy but instead packed with flavors more unique and complex compared to say your standard wing place. I mean seriously notes of charred, lemon, tang! It's great stuff if you're wanting to try a slightly different wing. Prices are a little higher end but that's to be expected downtown. If you don't like that slightly crisp and burn you get from a real wood oven I don't think this is the place for you. But if you're okay with that then please do give them a try! Love it in Jax, love it in Gainesville! Because I'm biased, I never forced the issue, but when Mom recommended V's for dinner while I was home visiting, I may or may not have jumped for joy! Mom's trip, Mom's order. Instead of my usual (pepperoni+onion+basil pizza), Mom decided that we'd have the "veggie galore" (NOT the real name, but it totally looked like it should be called that! See photo.). Honestly, I wasn't too thrilled with the "paint by numbers" pizza upon arrival, but I immediately retracted that opinion as it was friggin' delicious. The "Vegetable garden GOODNESS" (NOT the real name) slayed! The ingredients were flavorful and fresh as always, but it also seemed that I could taste more flavors in the pizza sauce and crust on the veggie pizza. Hmm? ... Loved it! Also, I've never before paid attention to the root beer float on the menu, but Katelyn gave it a nod so we went for it! Mom and I agreed that it's a real crowd pleaser! 5 Stars for fantastic brick oven pizza and inventive choices! A few locals suggested we hit up V and after eating there, I get why. They wanted a particular pie that they'd had in the past (I believe it had arugula and burrata but I may be wrong) but it was no longer featured on the menu. We popped into this place after bar hopping around town. The wait staff was okay - we didn't get any refills on our drinks and they didn't come around to check on us aside from bringing drinks and the food and the check. I had ordered a meatball pizza but a pepperoni one was brought out instead. I didn't catch the waitress to let her know, and I was starving since they do take a bit to cook, so I just went ahead and ate it. They are on a limited menu with one-topping pizzas, a few apps, and salads. The one topping pizza was $13. I like that there is a line to donate to their charity on the receipt. read more

I found this place under pressure; a restaurant where I planned to dine was closed for lunch and me and a friend were hungry. Luckily we found V Pizza. The food was amazing! I'm from Brooklyn and us New Yorkers are pizza snobs. The Pizza Pollo Calabrese and Calabrian wings get 5 stars. The restaurant was clean and quiet even though there were others dining in the facility, Kayla and James made us feel right at home! Great place near the courthouse in Gainsville offering Neapolitan style pizza, wings and sandwiches. Parking was tight even before noon, so plan ahead for that. Ordered a pizza Pollo Calabrese. It's a spicy Chicken marinated in Calabrese peppers. Pizza was great. Dough was very good. Crispy yet soft inside. Prices were good. Me and the wife ate good with ice tea for 20 bucks.
