My wife and I have eaten many times at Hurricane BTW. My wife loves the cranberry chicken salad and I like the boneless wings. Usually everything is wonderful. On our latest visit my wife wanted some extra dressing for her salad. The server said the it would be an extra 50 cents. Since when does a restaurant charge for extra dressing. It is a big salad and she felt it just needed a bit more than the little cup that came with it. In addition, a lot of the lettuce in the salad was wilted and brown as if it was old. When we told the server she said she would tell the kitchen staff. Normally, we love the restaurant and would give it 5 stars, but can't do it based on how cheap they are with the dressing and the brown lettuce. Service however was very good. read more

I ordered the mushroom swiss burger and sweet potato puffs. I asked for the burger to be cooked medium rare, not knowing if they could do this, added blue cheese, and asked for the bun on the side so if it was medium rare it wouldn't get soaked before I received my order. I added blue cheese to the burger expecting it to be in addition to the swiss, it replaced it and there wasn't $1.25 worth of crumbles. The burger was tiny and well done! They did do a great job with the separate bun; they put the burger with the toppings on top of a lid which made it easy to put the burger together. I was looking forward to trying the sweet potato tater tots and received sweet potato fries which I wouldn't have ordered if I knew that would be what I'd get. Recently tried this place and I liked it. My boyfriend and I shared nachos, wings, and an ice cream sandwich all of which were pretty good. The nachos in my opinion could've had more toppings like tomatoes, onions, or sour cream. It only had queso and beef which it also could have had more of. The wings, however, were super good. We got the garlic Parmesan and buffalo, and I liked the garlic parm a lot more. As for the ice cream sandwich apparently they are homemade and it was very delicious because the ice cream was very thick. The fries were also really good. Well....I fell for the ole Gator trap. That will be a constant theme for this review since this place was in Gainesville and had nauseating Gator logos everywhere...Roll Tide! I felt like there was so much promise for BTW but this was a very disappointing experience. I wanted wings and I love bone-in. But when I got to the counter, I was pointed to a special for boneless wings, fries, and a drink for $9.99. I fell hook, line and sinker ...caught in a series of Gator chomps. Gator chomp #1 - The boneless wings tasted like chicken nuggets from my elementary school, except I paid more for them. I'm for real....they tasted like they were warmed in the microwave and definitely a frozen Tyson taste. Gator chomp #2 - out of sweet tea, it was about an hour before closing and I was told they were not making anymore. I don't know if this is legit or not but tea will sit in a fridge and it's not expensive to make. Gator chomp #3 - I told then I would just get water, still charged for a drink. Gator chomp #4 - cheap plastic ware to eat with and trying to cut my microwavable chicken nuggets with a plastic knife was frustration. The two things that were done right were the sauces and fries. I asked for 4 sauces to be put on the side and they gave me a big serving of each. I had the Cyclone (spicy ranch), Honey Chipotle BBQ, Gold Rush (mustard BBQ), and the Boss (Buffalo and Garlic Parmesan). Those four sauces were outstanding and saves BTW from a one-star. read more

You order at the counter (which I much prefer to being waited on) then grab your own drink or they'll pour your pint, & find yourself a seat! It's super open, indoor or outdoor and a solid spot to bring your pup for a leisurely meal on the patio. They have the cutest pooch hooch water self-serve station at the entrance too. I got 5 Boss Bone-in wings and they were cooked to perfection! Wings take 14-18 mins to cook in the fryer so for those who are in a rush, know that it's worth your time to get the perfectly crispy saucy bite! My hubs got fried tenders and we split an order of White Cheddar bacon Mac & Cheese bites & super waffle fries! They were both excellent! There are TONS of sauces too so we tried a few (cyclone & firecracker). We finished it off with a KILLER milkshake! It was rich & delicious but perfect to share. I chose Pina colada. The first time we went here, the food was great & so was the service. The second time was terrible. The people were so rude & I swear made everything up as she went. She wouldn't let us use a coupon saying some made up fine print that was never stated on the coupon. The shakes were disgusting and I threw them away. Im sitting there for 5 or 10 min and then girl that was at the register says you have to order down there. FYI : don't sit at little bar area you have to go to counter an order. Nestled on 39th, this location adds another great option to the NW side. I'm writing this review based on two visits--one on tender Thursday and one on Taco Tuesday. The tenders are quite large, filling, and juicy and I was glad they weren't overly greasy. I also tried their wings--you have to ordee a min of ten to do split flavors so I chose firecracker and gold rush. The wings were so crispy and seasoned. I was glad they were a decent size and not those genetically engineered looking wings. However, while the wings are fantastic, the tacos and the fries leave much to be desired. The fries didn't seem to be seasoned, but the good thing about it is that there are plenty of seasonings you can add to them. Just make sure to do it while they're hot. The tacos weren't good unfortunately. Even though they are 3 bucks on Tuesdays, I won't be getting them again. Both of my tacos were cold--not just the toppings, but the meat too. The meat in the Korean bbq taco was subsumed in a mountain of slaw. The mesquite and bacon taco sounded good, but the cheese (govt cheese it seemed) and the plethora of ingredients together was pretty bad. As an avid wing enthusiast I must say I had some high expectations for this place. However one of the big things I take in to account when I go to a wing place is PPW or Price Per Wing and Hurricane BTW gets a terrible score in my book for their price per wing, pricing per wing only going down if you order 25 wings or more! I'll write out it for you to illustrate it. Boneless PPW: $1 10 wing classic combo: $13.50 Bone-In PPW: $1.20 10 wing classic combo: $15.50 Now that's some boutique PPW for what is essentially a fast casual dining place. The wings where just about on par with other chain wing restaurants. They have some interesting sauces with fun names that might intrigue some. (Coco Loco, Firecracker, Boss). They take traditional flavors and add a twist. I was quite pleased with Cyclone which was a Sweet and Spicy Ranch. However sauce alone couldn't justify this price for me. I'd likely opt for a place with better PPW. However the star of the show and the real reason I'll come back is the corn! Do not sleep on this corn it is a winner the Mexican Street corn has cheese and seasonings that takes corn to the next level. I wish this place was more reasonably priced because it would likely score higher for me but as is... Overview: 3/5 I was hoping this was going to be better then the overall ratings of "Yelpers". We decided to try it since it was in route to our destination. Unfortunately it only faired a 3 star in my assessment. Ambiance : 3/5 Nothing fancy about this place. Tables were socially distant and employees wore mask. There was no hand sanitizer that I could see. Lots of TVs for that sport feel. Chairs were metal and horribly uncomfortable. Food/Drink  2/5 The burger underwhelmed mostly because of the bun. At first I thought the bun was stale. The manager made us new ones. Although the manager said they get their bread in yesterday it still seemed stale. Brioche buns are not the best choice in my opinion, it overpowered the burger. The fries were good and came out crispy like I requested. The onion rings were a bit overly breaded and over cooked. They did not have a bottle opener for the beer in the case. And the bottled beer was not overly cold. The draft GTW beer was good. We both didn't care for the Mexican street corn but honestly I'm not sure what it's supposed to taste like. Service : 5/5 Servers were friendly and the manager did try to correct the situation with the stale bun. So the personnel does go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need and that the order came out to your satisfaction. NOTE: the cook on duty did not wear his mask over his nose. They don't have growlers anymore so instead of 6.50 for 32 ounces of beer it's 5.00 for 16 ounces. Used to see the owner in there consistently but haven't seen him in awhile. I've come to Gator Hurricane BTW for their chicken tenders, and wings several times. My favorite sauce is the "coco loco" sauce. The portion sizes seem to very quite a bit, and the quality differs. It is generally good, with the chicken tender breading being fairly light and flavorful. There's a decent selection of sauce options, and I'd say 5 tenders should be enough to make anyone full. The wait time also wasn't bad. I think this is a solid place to go to for wings/burgers. read more

Recently received some coupons for food delivery, so figured I would give it a shot. I have been to HurricaneBTW in the past, and remember really enjoying the food there, so trying their food via delivery was certainly worth a shot. I kept it simple and ordered a batch of wings, as it seems like forever since I have had proper hot wings from anywhere. The delivery went smoothly, and there I was at home with a nice batch of wings to chow down on, albeit them being somewhat cooler than what you would get at the restaurant. So really this review is about the food quality alone. I didn't talk to a single person at the restaurant, nor even see the store in the first place. The food was good. When you get delivery, it just isn't the same thing. You don't have the food piping hot in front of you. You don't have the noise of conversations from other tables, or any of the other things that occur when you are in a restaurant. It just isn't... the same. Of course, none of this is HurricaneBTW's fault, and the food was just fine. However, I probably won't be ordering delivery any time soon (well, except for pizza... that is a different ballgame). Stopped by here for lunch after a had a doctors appointment. We ordered salads my husband ordered the Ahi tuna salad. Unfortunately they came to us after we paid for are meals to say the tuna was frozen and asked if there was something they could make. Unfortunately my husband heart was set on that so they offered a refund. They stated they voided the order and when he asked for a receipt they could not provide one. Now here we are two days later and the charges went through and cleared from my account. Ordered the firecracker shrimp tacos, my daughter ordered a 6 wing combo with Buffalo sauce and Mexican street corn. The wings came out first, and I was a bit puzzled as I saw other customers being served. The corn looked delicious, it was golden brown all over with a white sauce and white crumbly cheese and a sprinkle of cilantro, but it seemed like the seasoning was AWOL. It was disappointing because it was so promising and really would have been a better experience with more flavor. If I had just ordered wings, then I think it would have been a one star (the corn was the right side though, that would bring it up to 2). This place is a little like fast food and bar food. You go to the counter to order and they bring it to you. The day we went was very busy at 7:00 pm on a Saturday. They had a large group so it was pretty noisy. Even with the big crowd the service was good and the food came out in less than 10 minutes. I had the Baja fish tacos. It had a good portion of fish and crispy slaw. It could have used more sauce though. My wife had the pineapple teriyaki burger. She said it was very good. It looked pretty big. We also had onion rings which were good, and Mexican street corn which was very tasty. The portion size on everything was very good. The prices are reasonable. They also have specials everyday. The food, in all fairness the fries were good, the chicken tenders were gross, they had a funny taste to them, the breading was gross and was falling off, and even though they were tossed - I was given an extra cup of sauce instead of ranch or bleu cheese. I want to like this place but my experience thus far is slightly negative. Got wings to go with the sauce On the side because I like my wings crispy. I only got one sauce container for my 10 wings and my one sauce container was nearly empty. WTH? Then some of my chicken wings were undercooked, again WTH BTW? And the young man that helped me check out scoffed when he saw I left no tip on the receipt. I am supposed to tip you for doing your job of ringing me up? I will say that the hot sauce for The wings did taste pretty good but I didn't have enough sauce but for a couple of wings.
