It's Jersey Girl Approved! So I finally got a chance to try this place out. I had heard people speak highly about but it always looked closed. I went in and was greeted immediately by two people (Spoiler - This place has great service). The young person at the counter asked if I was picking up and it was clear that is what most people do as I saw people coming in to pick up during this time. I asked for outdoor seating and was told to go find a seat and someone would be out shortly. It had just finished raining but all the seating was dry! #Winning I grabbed some menus and found a seat. The server who helped us was very knowledgeable about the menu and explained the pizza and offered some suggestions. We opted for the Napoli and wings. Signature Wings were spicy yet had a rich flavor Marinated Wings were sweet and had this lovely onion on top Napoli Pizza was served quickly and hot, it has a great wood fire taste, crust was delicious and toppings were fresh. The Beer - so I server told us they weren't too informed about the beer but sent the bartender out! #WinningAgain We tried a flight and the seasonal pumpkin with a sugar, honey, cinnamon rim - So Good! I passed this place on the way to a dentist appointment and then read the Yelp reviews. I've lived in NC for 5.5 years now and had despaired of ever finding a decent pizza place. (Similarly, I have *completely* given up on finding really good Chinese food.) The concerns expressed by many of the reviewers about the wait times turned out to be warranted. To be fair, however, I was told as soon as I was seated to expect a wait because they were short-handed, so at least they were trying to manage expectations. I ordered a 10" sausage and cheese pizza. Once I was able to order (probably 10-15 minutes after sitting down), it did take a while to arrive. When it did, it looked good. Additionally, the guy who delivered it to me said there had been a mistake in the kitchen, so I got a large pizza instead of the 10" - but that was on them, so they would charge me the 10" price. So there was that. The pizza was fine. I did like their crust and the sauce. The sausage, though, was pretty bland. (Tip for V: Find out from Ricci's (also in Cary) where they get their sausage. As I recall, it's shipped to them from New York.) One other (lesser) issue: I was freezing in that place. Maybe because I was sitting at the bar since I was there by myself and maybe the areas with tables were warmer, but I didn't take my coat off the entire time. V Pizza provides such a nice change of pace from standard delivery pizza. We visited during lunch time and it was practically empty, which I enjoy. We tried the Pizza Delle Donne and V-Signature Wings. The pizza was delicious and light with the complimenting flavors. The wings were the show stealer though. First time here, and saw all the great reviews on Yelp so I had to give it a try for myself! We went around 7pm on a Saturday - there was a short wait of 15 minutes if you didn't mind inside or outside seating. We ended up sitting outside, and were greeted shortly after. We placed our order in which we ordered their buffalo wing special pizza that day along with their Hawaiian wings. We were told when we placed the order that the wings would take about 45minutes and the pizza roughly the same as the kitchen was behind this night. We said that was fine as we had nothing else going on that night. Our waitress also made sure to describe the type of pizza they have their as its a bit different then the usual. They try to be as authentic as Napoli Italy pizza. The pizza has a soupy center and a thinner crust. The wait for the wings was around the 45minute wait and the pizza was closer to an hour wait of when it came out. Everything was good, I wouldn't say it blew me out of the water. But again, I think it may just be a desired taste. Being from Buffalo - we like to say we know what good wings and pizza are. We proceeded to have to wait in line for over 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Our waitress was okay, kept forgetting items but was sweet and accommodating. The man with the long red beard is rude, disrespectful, and dismissive. There was a party of 30 (maybe 35) that came in and asked to be seated, with no reservation. They then proceeded to hold every table that was getting up for this party of 35. We know because we overheard a sweet family with a baby be told they had to wait until the entire party of 35 had been sat. Absolutely ridiculous. I enjoyed Pizza la Stella so was surprised when I found out V Pizza was the new tenant. Pleasantly surprised- every time I've been in there it's pretty crowded. Been here a few times and I've only ever eaten wings from here- my go to are the Calabrian and the crying Hawaiian wings when I want some flavor. Pro tip- they let you order half and half. I was disappointed with my most recent order though... the wings weren't crispy (flavor was there), I didn't get any carrots/celery or any dipping sauce (ranch/blue cheese) nor was asked on the phone for a choice. I follow a couple of foodie instagrammers local to the Triangle and this place was highly recommended by them. Coming from the Northeast, I've had trouble finding good, brick oven thin crust pizza in the area. V pizza is a small chain that has various locations across the South. Walking into the restaurant it reminded me of a classic restaurant reminiscent of the ones from my childhood. I came with 5 friends and we asked to be seated outside since we were not comfortable sitting inside. The hostess graciously accommodated us and gave 10 person table outside (way more space than we needed but it was the only table outside they had available). We ordered the lunch special and we each got our own personal specialty pizzas. This was amazing because it was a Saturday and they were still offering a lunch special. We ordered the mac attack pizza (with pesto marinated chicken & one with just mac & cheese), the Pizza Napoli, Pizza Flyin' Hawaiian, and the Pizza Pollo Calabrese. I was impressed and really enjoyed all the pizzas I got to try and thin crust was exactly what I was looking for. I will be back. Amazing pizza doesn't even begin to cover it! We started with the meatballs and Italian sausage with peppers. Both were delicious. The meatballs and sausage were cooked perfectly, the marinara was amazing! I could have taken the marinara home and made a spaghetti with it. Then came the V Special Wings. We ordered 2 servings of 10. I'm not a fan of wings but these were delicious! Packed with flavor, seasoned perfectly, extremely well balanced. Wonderful! Then, the pizza! The mac attack was freaking amazing! I love it! I was a little worried about the pesto on it but I couldn't even tell, they balanced the pizza so well! The bolognese pizza was just as delicious! I have been reading a lot about the wings here as they are wood fired in their pizza ovens. I must say they are good, but I thought the skin would be a little more crispy. Great flavor with the spices! I had the signature wings. No heat, but really good. Also, the grilled onions that came with them have been soaked in wine for 24 hours before being cooked! I've been back twice since my initial visit and have to say I've been disappointed each time in the Italian beef sandwich. The beef is definitely not cut thin enough. Don't get me wrong, there's a ton of beef in this sandwich and it's tasty, but when it's not cut thin enough, traditionally in Chicago where this sandwich originates the beef is almost see through, it becomes a task to be able to chew it. Plus the bun they use absolutely cannot hold up the weight of the beef and it quickly falls apart with the beef landing everywhere all over the plate. Having to eat this type of sandwich, which I've had my whole life, with a fork and knife is not my idea of how to eat it. They were great. Very juicy and plump, plus they had an amazing char on them - full of flavor! My wife and I each ordered a personal sized lunch pizza. She got the "Pizza Napoli" and I got the "Pollo Calabrese" - both were perfectly cooked. The crust was both flavorful and just the right amount of crispy. The toppings were fresh. As advertised, the Calabrese Pizza was spicy! So be aware of that if you order it. I loved it, but I also like a good amount of heat, of which it certainly delivered. To finish, we shared a cannoli. I ordered a build your own pizza. First of all, it is $17 for the crust and the sauce. Nothing else. Of course, I added toppings to make my vegan pizza. With three toppings, vegan cheese and cauliflower crust added, it came to close to $30. A good pizza yet not worth that amount of money for a 14" pie. Sad to say... we will not return ever! You can get much better pizza from Bottle dog for almost half the price. The service was mediocre. We went tonight and we were there a little before 6. They were a little busy but not crazy. We ordered 2 pizzas. Took about 30 minutes to get. I wish I would have taken pictures. My husband's basic pepperoni pizza was over half burnt mine was a little less. They did instantly offer to replace his but after waiting he was just hungry and ready to eat. He said he'd make it work. He should have let them replace but he's not that kind of person. My point is it should have never been sent out that way. That pizza wash so bad My wasn't as bad as his but when you pay about $20 a 13 in pizza it should come out worthy of the price. I got the flyin Hawaiian and it was so dry. I have never written a Yelp review, but I feel strongly that this one should be written. Tonight, we drove 30 minutes to Cary to try V Pizza. As we walked up a young boy (maybe 13) in a V Pizza t-shirt told us there was a very long wait. We walked to the front anyways, and the restaurant was half empty, and there was no one at the hostess stand. We waited and finally decided to just sit at the end of the bar. It was a while before someone asked us what we wanted to drink. When we finally got a drink, a young girl suddenly reached across me and slammed down two dirty glasses on top of each other directly in front of me. The salt from their rims went flying all over the bar top in front of me. I thought, ok, that was odd. A few minutes later, it happened again with four more glasses, and her arm coming in contact with my body. At this point, there is a lot of salt and there are 6 dirty glasses where I'm about to eat. I turned to her and said, "could you please not place dirty dishes in front of where I'm about to eat?" She turned around and ran off without a comment. A few minutes later the young boy who'd told us the restaurant was full came over and slammed two dirty glasses down beside my husband and ran off laughing. I was irritated at this point. Then, a woman came over from behind the bar and said, in a very sarcastic tone, "I'm sorry she put dirty glasses in front of you, but she's 14 and can't come behind the bar." We soon realized she was the underage waitress' mom when she called "mom" out to her from across the restaurant. The whole scene was madness, and the pizza was average to boot. So impressed with V Pizza. We love this place and can't wait to go back. We ordered the Pizza Bolognese which came fresh with incredible sauce, mozzarella and fresh meatballs. So fresh and flavorful, we just wished there was more of it! We also got the V Signature wings which blew our minds. They were hot, sticky and juicy, with incredible flavor. The best wings we've had in a while. The staff took all precautions to make sure their patrons felt safe and comfortable. Everyone wore masks and the occupancy was at 50%. I've seen lots of people rave about this place, so when I was having intense pizza cravings on Labor Day I decided to make the trek into Cary for dinner here. Parking was a breeze and the place was surprisingly empty. We got to pick our own table outside (they do offer indoor seating also), and much to my delight their patio area is dog friendly! We started with a few drinks - Moscow mule (Tito's is +$2) and a Pernicious. I love that they have a ton of good local beers to choose from, and for my next round I got the Bond Brothers Local IPA - tasty as always! We ordered the Signature wings for an appetizer. They came out quickly and they were sooo meaty and delicious. I don't normally eat wings, and I NEVER eat wings without ranch (these didn't come with any dipping sauce), but honestly they didn't need anything the flavor was that good. The red onions probably weren't necessary but who doesn't love a good pickled o? We also got the Carnivora pizza which is hands down some of my favorite pizza I've ever eaten in the Triangle. As a fellow New Yorker, I believe the owner was from New York so what's not to love. Came with 5 friends and were seated outside on the patio, social distancing was enforced and the staff all wore masks. Wine pizza and winos were ordered and although our friend had warned us, we were still blown away by the quality. The wings were amazing, slightly crispy, perfectly baked and seasoned for even the most discerning palette. The pizza was delicious and everything was served family style, perfect for sharing. I'm a pizza snob. If a pizza place doesn't use type 00 flour, I'm not interested! This place does, and they cook them in wood ovens, which is even better! Ordered the bolognese pizza and it was so good. Yeah it's kinda pricey for pizza, but good pizza it worth it. Also the chicken wings here are amazing!! It's good they have a roll of towels on the table because they are messy, but so delicious! I was initially put off by it being a counter service place, but it wasn't that big of a deal to be honest. Pizza and beer- two of my favorite things. You start by ordering at the counter. My mom and I split a pizza (we built our own with pepperoni, green pepper, onions, mushrooms and tomatoes), side salad with ranch dressing and a slice of tiramisu. You get a number, find a table and visit the bar (not required but encouraged) next. The beer list was extensive. I was impressed that a large section of the menu was for local options. I chose the Gizmo Fake News NEIPA. It didn't take the food long to come out and all of it was tasty. I was also very impressed with the service from start to finish, everyone was so friendly. The owner, Anthony, even stopped by to help out and walk around to all tables to ensure their experience was a great one. Delicious! This place is like the hot spot in Cary right now--there was a huge line waiting to order at the cash register. We actually took the last parking spot too! Overflow parking would just have to park in the adjacent shopping center's lot (Trader Joe's). Since it's self-seating, you definitely want to stake out a table as soon as you see a party leave (even before it's been bussed, unfortunately) because there simply were too many people! Not sure if it'll stay this busy, so we'll see.. We ordered the Calabrian wings and the Piccante pizza---my husband and I obviously love spicy food! The wings were amazing! I've never had wings with this flavor, and it is WAY better than the buffalo-style wing. Not Particularly Good Food or Service  (In My Humble Opinion)                   I had dinner here on March 2 after giving the place a few weeks to sort out the start-up kinks.  My unsatisfying experience was simultaneously bewildering, disappointing, and insulting.   BEWILDERING:   V Pizza is part cafeteria, part brew pub, and part dine-in restaurant.  When you arrive you order your food at a window which offers an unrestricted view of the kitchen (more on this view below) and get a stand-up thing with number on it for your table so they know where to deliver the food, then you go to the bar to order drinks, then you pick a table and display your stand-up thing.  All of this fussiness is confusing, and dilutes the expected dine-in experience you have when you walk in.   DISAPPOINTING:  I ordered a salad and pizza, took my stand-up thing, and attempted to order a beer and a Pellegrino at the bar.  I was successful only after I interrupted the bartender who had his back to me for several minutes.  The beer order was no problem, but he had to ask me what a Pellegrino was.   Once I took my seat and displayed my stand-up thing, the Pellegrino was delivered by the bartender and he walked off.  The problem is that he simply plopped down the unopened bottled and walked away.  No glass, no ice, no lime, no "Here's your Pellegrino" .... nothing ... just an unopened (and warm) bottle of sparkling water!    When my salad arrived it too was plopped down, and immediately I told the server that I did not order take out.  He replied that all salads were served the way I was seeing it: tightly packed in a plastic case with a tight-fitting and hinged plastic cover.  See attached photo.   The pizza had potential, but fell well short of being a fair exchange for the (steep) price charged:  it was a bad value relative to most other pizzas I have had.  Absolutely nothing special + steep price = bad value.    INSULTING:  To deliver a warm bottle of sparking water without even offering a glass or ice is amazing.   Since this is "V Pizza," not "V Salad," I am willing to accept some degree of compromise, but to serve my salad tightly contained in the same way you would buy it at a Grab 'n Go location in an airport is epic in its disregard for the customer.   Having a full-view kitchen is nice and engaging; however, the kitchen staff was cutting up and throwing things at each other.  Is it too much to ask that they do it someplace other than in the kitchen in full sight of folks ordering their food?   In my most humble opinion, V Pizza is actually an airport food court masquerading as a dine-in restaurant, minus the good pizza that airport food courts offer.  Perhaps a better pizza operation will replace these guys in this terrific location.  Just my $0.02 worth, folks. read more
