These guys saved us, bigtime.
My wife and I sold our house with the closing date this upcoming Friday. We had movers lined up for the Saturday before at 9:00am sharp so we were all set. We used these guys like a year ago and they did a decent job then so said we'd use them in the future. Anyways, Saturday comes, we get a 7:15am text saying they're having truck issues, they're going to be late. We said fine. Like 10:00am comes then they call saying they would not be able to make it till late afternoon. We asked them if it would just be easier for them to reschedule till Sunday morning. They we're very appreciative and said they'd be there by 10:00am tomorrow morning. Not a big deal. Sunday comes, 10:00am turns into 1:00pm and then they call us to see if WE could rent a truck for them as they're all out. We said no that's f*cking ridiculous. They then said they'd have a truck ready to go Monday morning at 9:00am if that'd be okay by us? We asked for their guarantee as now we are beginning to panic as our close date is on Friday and it's now already Sunday afternoon with a houseful of boxes, beds, dressers, etc. They promised yes. So yeah, you can guess how the rest of this story goes. We get a text from one of the movers Monday morning saying he just quit the company and they can go screw off and blah blah blah. Then he had the nerve to ask if we wanted to reconsider renting a truck so him and his buddies could move our shit. We told him no thanks, you've done enough damage. Could not believe he asked us that AGAIN after being strung along all weekend. What a joke.
It's now Monday late morning, closing is Friday, we have shit everywhere and even once we finally find movers and they finish, we still need a day or 2 to clean before Thursday afternoon's walkthrough. Now I have to go to work and my wife already took the day off to go meet these idiot movers who screwed us 3 days in a row.
We just started calling every place on Craigslist. Finally we got in touch with Olivia from V Moving. She told us she could send a crew out Monday afternoon (same day) however if it had to be today, she only had a 2-man crew and a 17ft truck. We said that should work, especially cause the price was very fair.
The crew arrived a few hours later that day because traffic sucks coming from the north-side to the south-side. But hey, they arrived. The crew loaded the truck but we had 1 problem, we underestimated our belongings. We packed the truck full, with more crap left in the house. By this time it was already like 7:00pm and we still had to go to the storage unit 45 minutes away and unload a full truck. The crew said they would make a second trip that night but we were tired and I didn't want these guys working till midnight, but was impressed that they said they'd keep working. But I felt guilty having them work all night plus like I said, we were tired too. What do we do now?
I called Olivia and she took care of everything. She told us to let the crew go tonight after their drop-off at storage, and that she had a different crew in our area the very next afternoon so if we want, the 2nd crew would take the rest of our stuff out tomorrow, which we were so excited to hear. Also, she didn't charge us any extra fee's, just the normal hourly rate. She had the right to charge another upfront fee as it was us who confirmed the 17ft truck should work. She could have made us pay some extra cash, which I was sure she was going to do, and we'd be forced to eat it cause she knew we had to get this shit out of the house asap. Well she didn't.
It's service like this that earns loyalty and customers for life. The 2nd crew finished up Tuesday afternoon, just in time to clean the house before Thursday's walkthrough and Friday's closing. Both crews did a great job, no slacking at all and very careful with everything.
From this day forward we will be referring V Moving to everyone we know who is looking for movers.
Thanks Olivia and V Moving! read more
