We love V-maids! The cost is absolutely worth it, especially for city cleaning prices. They have good attention to detail with their cleaning and they bring their own supplies. We've requested deeper cleans like inside the fridge cleaning - they left our fridge looking spotless! The service request is easy; you can fill a form out online for the first time you're requesting a cleaning. Since they have been to our home twice, we now email VMaids with a range of dates we are available and they let us know what day works best for them. Tip: we don't wear shoes in the house so we have them wear shoe covers that we provide when they come to the space. read more

Let's clear up a few things. In response to the reply below. It was not made aware to me that they had a 2 hour limit, maybe it's written somewhere and I didn't see it. I just wanted a clean apartment, however long it took. And instead, I came home to things broken and things out of place (pictures not put back, furniture not put back, etc.) It's true, we had a miscommunications about the blinds. I wish they had left them completely alone because they were broken when I got home and the pieces not even picked up from the floor. Also yes this owner asked me if I would like to TAKE THE TIP AWAY FROM HIS WORKERS which would not subtract from HIS total, it would only subtract from theirs. And while I was not at all pleased with their job, I suspect it's a management problem as you can tell by the MANY excuses that are being made by the owner. The tub part they cleaned was not even the part I pointed out. And the tub still looked terrible and it's part that come up just fine when I clean it. You can tell by the photos there was noway 50 minutes was spent on the tub. Also that was not the only part of the baseboard not cleaned, there are many sections that were not touched. Maybe they ran out of cleaning solution (eye roll). Also there was dust everywhere, not just the blinds. TV stand was covered and the fans didn't need to washed, we dust them and they're fine. They also aren't above 8 ft. tall. Also, I've seen other complaints about Vmaids on EveryBlock, so if you want more proof that this isn't worth the money, you can check on there as well. I mean, if you like dust, broken blinds and excuses, and an owner who suggests you take money away from his workers...not his company...this is your company. read more

Update based on the owner's response: Of course we rejected the offer for them to come back over and reclean, as you mentioned we already did it ourselves and why would we trust it would be any better this time? As an alternative we asked for them to come back another day. You stated the best you could do was to reduce the total by $50. We agreed to pay the balance out of frustration and made sure to note we would not be using you again in the future. I'm not sure I would describe that as "acting positively" Finally, I waited two months to write this because, as I stated in my initial review, it took us a couple weeks to realize the items were stolen and my first thought after getting married was not to write a Yelp review of this experience. I truly do not want to believe anyone would do such a thing and we tried to figure out if it was possible we misplaced the ring or simply lost it. While that seemed unlikely but possible, we keep coming back to the stolen bridal gifts as well (a robe and a pair of slippers) that were in a separate area of our apartment. I agree with Anna A. I spent way too much time searching for a cleaner when I should have just contacted V Maids right away. We needed a move out cleaner and I was just not that impressed with the cleaners i had previously used. So I contacted V Maids and Veronika contacted me via email right away. I told her what I needed and what was entailed. We had two storied house with three bedrooms and needed the basement cleaned as well. The two ladies showed up 15 mins earlier which in my book is alright. They said it would take 3 hours which it did. And Veronika called me back when they were done. I was so surprised and happy with the job they did. They cleaned everything immaculately! The basement was so clean and that was the area i worried the most. We are very disappointed and rather angry with v maid, but not for want of a clean apartment, but for the way they handled a situation and treated us. Basically, we found a big bottle of shampoo missing and I called to ask if there was some mistake , that perhaps they mixed up with the detergent and return us the shampoo. After a few phone calls and voice messages, I spoke to the male owner. The male owner told me that "he knew who I was and what I was trying to do."( like a script from a horror film ) and asked me how much I wanted, and that he would send me a check of $15 and that in all 15 years in the business, nothing had been missing. I asked him what he meant by that tone, and he said that he didnt have to say. It was infuriating. It is bad enough to have a expensive missing shampoo gone from your house, but to be treated this way as a customer. This will be our first and our last experience with V-maids. read more

V Maids cleaned my apartment very well. They charge $22 per hour, per maid. They sent 2 maids to my house, so it's $44 per hour. If you set up a regular cleaning, they'll knock that hourly price down a bit. I live with a roommate, and we are both super important CEO's who can't take 1 minute to clean our own living quarters. Either that, or we're two 27 year old males who haven't prioritized cleaning in quite some time. The two ladies showed up promptly at the scheduled time. I showed them around very briefly, and then I went out to run some errands. When I came back, about 2.5 hours later, the place was spotless. They did some impressive things, too. Bathrooms were immaculate. So were the corners of every floor. They cleaned under the bed. They did an excellent job with the kitchen. In short, they did a job that Danny Tanner would be proud of. If you'd like to have responsible, professional folks do a great job cleaning your house, V Maids deserves a shot. read more

V Maids has been a real lifesaver the last few months as I've been coordinating cleanings in my Chicago house while I've been away! Things I like about this company: *I can email and schedule directly. *Often times they have exact availability or very close. *Vaclav is super nice and courteous, fast response time. *They send multiple cleaners (usually 2). *They do a very good job cleaning (4x so far). *If you aren't around and feel comfortable enough (I do!) you can arrange a way for them to enter, and they'll even leave you a little note with how much you owe and where to send it. *They take checks! (I never have cash). While in the past I've always stuck with very small 1 woman operations (and loved it), the flexibility of using a bigger company can be very convenient. More cleaners means wider availability and a central booking point/owner who oversees. If someone gets sick he just fills it in with another person....less disruption to the schedule. Even if it is a bit bigger, it is still locally owned and operated, of course. I've not actually met any of the cleaners of Vaclav, but I've booked four cleanings. They always show up promptly and leave the house sparkling. No muss, no fuss...and we just send the check along after them. Recommended! read more

I was nervous about hiring a cleaning service for two reasons: 1. My partner is a clean FREAK. She has completely unreasonable expectations. 2. It makes me a little nervous to let a "stranger" into my home. However, because we were desperate and lazy, we decided to risk it. Fast forward 4 months later and we're still using this awesome service twice a month. Our "team" of ladies couldn't be nicer. They are efficient and the price can't be beat. So, I am leaving this one up and I hope that people consider this when choosing a cleaning service. We were working with V Maids for a few months and in that time our condo was broken into. Literally, I could do a better job myself. Yes, they are cheaper, but why not pay a little extra to make sure your place is cleaned properly? Overall, there are better cleaning places out there. I have used VMaids for a long time. Typically, their service has been okay. But this year has not gone smoothly. First, I had to ask FIVE TIMES IN A ROW that they dust my lamps. Seriously, it took five requests for dusting to happen. This is crazy. Even more crazy was this Tuesday, when I tuned in on my puppycam to see what my dogs were up to. Instead, I saw one of the two housekeepers I was paying for just sitting on a chair in my entry, talking to the other housekeeper while that woman was hard at work. I heard her reading aloud from the label of something left on my table, asking her coworker what it meant. I watched for several minutes because I was in disbelief. I then asked the owner to please make sure both people I am paying were working. He denied they ever weren't working; they lied to him and said no one was ever not working. I sent him a screen shot of the lady sitting and chatting. He made more excuses, saying her sitting there must have been related to the cleaning effort ... unbelievably! I asked for a guarantee that this crew will not be at my place again, which he refused to promise. Guess I will be finding a new cleaning service. In response to the inappropriate post by the VMaids owner: Notice how Vaclav is more worried about his staff being caught sitting down on the job than he is about them doing their job? And how he thinks trying to embarrass his client and threaten legal action is the correct way to respond to a complaint about his staff not working, then lying about it? I hired V-maids to clean my 800 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment after I had a stair accident that resulted in having to have surgery to repair a broken upper arm (yes mom, I now know to hem my pants so I don't trip on them). It was a birthday present from mom (I think that's when I realized I was old, when I was excited to get a cleaning service for my birthday, but anyway...) First off, I was VERY impressed that she uses e-mail. And responded very quickly. I hate the phone, and love e-mail, especially when people respond quickly. We figured out a date and time and were good to go. The girls who came to clean arrived a little bit early and got straight to work the second they came. I left them there and went off to work and when I came home that night my home had that wonderful "just been cleaned really really well" smell that I can't ever seem to replicate myself. I would have given 5 stars, however, they didn't dust the ceiling fan blades, and since I didn't have real good use of one of my arms/shoulders, that was a pretty important thing to miss. But other than that they did a great job, were very reasonably priced (around $75 for a one time cleaning) and I'd hire them again. This is the best cleaning service I've had in Chicago. Scheduling is super easy- the guy who runs it is super fast and responsive via email or phone. We had an issue with the keys once, and he came by my house and got a new set so I didnt have to go to their office to drop them off. Classy. With short notice, I emailed/called a bunch of services. V Maids replied quickly via email and were able to come when I would be home. I was a little apprehensive because of some of the negative reviews I read on Yelp but saw that V Maids has a policy that if you're not happy with the cleaning job within 24 hrs., they'll come back out. V Maids did a spectacular job! Being nit picky when it comes to cleanliness, I couldn't have been more impressed with the job that the 2 punctual women did in a mere 2 hours. I also like that you have the option to mail in a check after the cleaning if you don't have cash or don't want to pay the credit card fee. They occasionally have specials on their website where one time cleanings are $18/hr./maid. Consequently, our severely neglected 1200 sq. ft., 2bd/1ba apartment was scrubbed until it sparkled for just $72. Way better than the $200 quote I got from another cleaning service. We recently used V maids for a deep cleaning of our 2 bedroom 2 bath condo. We have lived in this space for a little over 4 years now, and have 3 dogs. We usually clean our place ourselves but, we were going out of town and had a guest staying at our house to watch our dogs so we wanted our place extra clean. We called V Maids on a Thursday evening and made an appointment for the following Tuesday morning. Veronica was very polite and friendly on the phone and was very accommodating with our schedule request. Two young ladies arrived promptly at 8 am. They were very polite, efficient and professional. They even cleaned areas that in our 4 years of living here, had never been touched. The floors were all hand washed and the baseboards look brand new. Being the owner of three dogs, I don't believe I have ever seen my floors or baseboards look so good!! When they were finished, our place looked and smelled like a million dollars. I priced multiple cleaning services throughout the chicago area, and for the price and value I feel that V Maids was by far the best. After finding V-maids on Yelp, and reading all the decent reviews, my boyfriend scheduled a surprise clean up while we were out of town. Unfortunately, I arrived home before him to a house that wasn't clean, by any means. I wasn't exactly sure if someone had even been there or not. Long story short, a pretty poor clean-up. There were still dishes in the sink even. And, areas in the shower that weren't wiped along with the others. I'm pretty positive they didn't even wash the kitchen floor. I took photos, because it was actually kinda funny. A rush job, no doubt. I called the company, and they were receptive to my feedback. The lady was very nice, but it was such a crap clean up, that I wasn't even interested in having them come out to clean again. This was for $80...definitely wasn't even worth $50. Evaluating a cleaning service requires a benchmark. One person's definition of "great job" may be an "okay job" by someone else's standards. So let me start off by stating that my benchmark is how my Mom taught me to clean. My Mom always taught me to polish fixtures, wipe down doors, wipe off all the light switches, use an old toothbrush to scrub around seals, dust off the ceiling fans, and wipe down the baseboards. I hired V Maids to do a "move out" clean of my apartment in Chicago. Two young girls showed up to divide and conquer. They dusted the baseboards and windowsills, scrubbed the bathrooms and kitchen, and washed all the hardwood floors on their hands and knees. I did have to ask them to go back and wipe down the doors, door frames, and light switches and dust off the ceiling fans...so I ding them for that. All in, it was a 2 hour job that only cost $90. Good price but I think I would have been a bit more meticulous if I had cleaned the place myself. But then again, who wants to clean their own place after they've moved out? read more

I've been using VMaids for nearly 4 years now as they have traveled with us from one apartment to the next "South Loop, Printer's Row and even Roscoe Village...now that's some good coverage! Their team is always prompt, courteous and very thorough. If I ever have any issues, they are always minor (such as, please make sure you wipe down the mirror by the entry way) they either catch it on the next cleaning or send someone back right away to correct. Getting in cleanings is a breeze, just send them a quick email of the date and times you prefer and BAM! You have an nearly immediate response. Eff spring cleaning when you can pay someone else to do it for you! I wasn't happy with the job V Maids did last year, so they give me a $20 discount on my next cleaning. Finally took them up on the offer today, seeing as my apartment has gone months and months without a proper cleaning, seen a foster kitten come and go, and has suffered from general grad-student-without-time neglect. My apartment is spotless. Floors shining, bathroom sparkling. I almost don't want to be in here and mess it all up. They even scrubbed my teakettle clean: it's no longer a dark maroonish color and instead glows like a metal apple on the stovetop, bright and cheery. My only complaint is that the cleaning team asked for money for the parking meter (their policy is for the customer to pay for parking). I did, but wasn't convinced they'd made an effort to find free parking on the next street over, as I had indicated over the phone when making the appointment: I stepped outside to run an errand 10 minutes later and saw lots of free spaces. Definitely happy and plan to use their services again the next time I can afford it. read more

I have decided to "Live Yelp" my experience with V-Maids. Let's start at a medium of 3 stars for this one. (DISCLAIMER: I live-reviewed but then it sat in my drafts for awhile, so this actually took place at the beginning of September) Firstly, they arrived on time - a few minutes early, actually, and got right to work. Plus one star. Their first request was for a vacuum which my roommates and I found off since nothing in our apartment is carpeted. If I'm paying someone to deep clean, running a vacuum over a hard surface isn't what I had in mine. Even though my roommate instructed them to start in the bathrooms, the one girl started in my room. She dusted off the ceiling fan as I requested from the company, but then started cleaning off my dresser - I had specifically told Vaclav, the owner, we did not want anything in the bedrooms cleaned except the ceiling fans. I pointed this out to her and she stopped, conversed with the other girl, and then spent about another 10 minutes on my dresser alone. Completely ignored what I said. Minus one star. Left my bedroom without cleaning up the dust that had fallen from the ceiling fan. That is a HUGE miss; THAT'S when you choose to follow the "Don't clean the bedroom rule?" Minus one star. Forty minutes in and now she's scrubbing the kitchen table? No floors have been done. Again people, "deep clean" is meant to be corners, hard to reach surfaces - not furniture I wipe down every day anyway. Minus one star. Are we at zero yet? I think we're at zero. They almost earned a star when I walked into the kitchen and the other girl asked if I wanted to fridge to be done. I told her yes and I'd rather her do that than the dishes she was doing - again people, DEEP CLEAN DOES NOT MEAN DOING HOUSEHOLD CHORES I CAN DO MYSELF! I showed her how the inside of the freezer was nasty and if she could get started on that instead. She said that was fine, and then when I walked away I heard her back to doing the dishes for another ten minutes. Star cancelled out. At least the one bathroom they've done so far is sparkling clean. Plus one star. At this point I have to leave for a work thing; my roommate calls and apparently the cleaning girls have told her they need an extra half hour to finish up. I wouldn't mind the extra time & charge if they hadn't already WASTED AN HOUR CLEANING THINGS WE SPECIFICALLY AND REPEATEDLY TOLD THEM NOT TO. I called Vaclav and he assured me he would talk to the girls and make sure we only paid for the 2.5 hours estimated. Plus 3 stars for the fact he was so fantastic about it, and top of that sent me a QuickPay for a $10 first-time cleaning refund. Overall the girls ended up doing a lot of the cleaning I didn't want to myself; I was just expecting a better quality. Also, once he called them to let them know they effed up, the one girl was extremely rude to my roommate and would not speak to her or even acknowledge her. In my opinion, if you misunderstood the directions that is fine; but at the end of the day you could at least be apologetic and not rude. She made the company look so bad. Based on other sub-par reviews it won't come as a shock that our cleaning girls were the blonde pair; it seems to be as theme on their reviews. Vaclav, a word of advice - the blonde girls could obviously take a lesson from the brunettes everyone raves about. Maybe split them up so they could learn a thing or two. read more
