I have been wanting to try out V Cafe for a while since it appeared vegetarian / vegan friendly, and I finally got around to it today, but unfortunately only to be disappointed. I ordered the tofu banh mi, the rice with tofu, and the avocado smoothie. The tofu sandwich was disappointing but not inedible - minimal flavor and on the dry side. The rice with tofu was literally white rice with some fried tofu, and a minimal salad, it was absolutely tasteless. The only saving grace was the avocado smoothie - it was better than average though not great. Needless to say, I will not be back. read more

I was looking to try a new place and found vcafe. The people are friendly but the food didn't leave a lasting impression for me to want to return. The beef banh mi didn't have enough flavor compared to other banh mi sandwiches I've tried. The pho was also just average as well. read more

This place is just good. It always hits the spot, the quality is always high and the customer service is great. We often get the shrimp dishes because they grill the shrimp, which just is such a nice flavor to the dishes. We come here often and will continue to do so but it's about time we post this! read more

I gauge Vietnamese restaurants with their Bun aka Vermicelli dish, if it's good I'll try it again and again--then get out of my comfort zone and try other dishes. Their Bun is amongst the best I've had anywhere. Because of COVID19 I only dine outdoors now and chose this restaurant because they offer patio dining. I first went on 3/18/2021, it was so tasty I went back on 3/20/2021 but they're closed Sunday. As I was in the parking lot trying to figure out where I'd eat (outside) several people entered the building and I think they were there to clean. Excellent reason to close, get your restaurant spiffed up. Ever hungry for some Bun, I went back on 3/23/2021 and as I pulled in, someone was spraying and cleaning the patio tables! She had on her mask. I felt so relieved, because on Sunday the alternative Vietnamese restaurant I went to was so filthy I shouldn't have stayed, my shoes crackled as I walked across the dirty floor on my way to the nasty and disgusting patio. But at this wonderful restaurant that is sparkling clean, I noticed several Vietnamese folks getting takeout. I'd say that's a good sign because I'm no connoisseur of Vietnamese food but I imagine they are. The cherry on the top, the prices are very competitive! I bet everyone enjoys this restaurant it's an excellent choice! read more

Came here for the first time the other day, have been meaning to for awhile. Ordered through Yelp and everything came out perfectly. I had the veggie egg rolls and they were delicious! My picky wife got the spicy beef noodle, and she says it's alright. That means a 4-4.5 stars. I got the Pho combo. Let me tell you there's Pho that focuses on the aroma, or the flashy fancy meats (the ox tails, the prime beef, etc) or the dedicated balanced flavors. This place is the last type. It gives me a calm soulful happiness with the flavorful broth, just right of the balance, with soft noodles, and meat cuts that are well incorporated into the soup. That last part is difficult to do for a dish that has a lot of ingredients and garnish to put together. 5 stars for me. We look forward to trying banh mi and the coffee. Btw, the Thai tea is spot on, not too sweet, not a lot of after taste at all. read more

I recently discovered V cafe while searching for banh mi. My bf and I ordered two special banh mi (dac biet), one order of grilled beef and one pork banh mi to go. The special one came with pate and the rest had pickled veggies. It did take them a bit of time to prep them. We waited about 15 min for 4 sandwiches, but the banh mi came out hot and super crunchy but not hard. The flavor was solid and super fresh. The next day we decided to take out the bun bo hue (spicy noodles) and it tasted just like homemade bun bo hue. It had the shrimp paste and chili sauce to the side so we could add it at our own leisure. They also provided a ton of fresh herbs and veggies for us too. Overall, the place is really solid. The place is small and it reminds me of a Vietnamese diner, they don't have a lot of options on their menu but that's a good thing. With lesser food to manage/cook, the quality will be better. We found this place by accident and thought we would try it out. Overall is was very good. We had the pho with brisket which was excellent . The broth was rich and not watered down. Popped into this little cafe soon after I discovered it had opened and went back to visit the next week as well. My first trip was a bahn mi sandwich and some pork spring rolls. The baguette on the bahn mi was fresh as were the veggies in the sandwich. The pork was well seasoned and had just the right amount of dressing. The spring rolls had obviously just been hand made and were amazing. They used the same pork as in the bahn mi and used a generous amount. The peanut sauce for the spring rolls was sweet and savory and the perfect compliment. My dessert was a yummy Vietnamese iced coffee with condensed milk. I couldn't wait to get back and try their vermicelli bowls. And so I did the next week. Again, fresh veggies and a generous portion of delicious char-broiled pork made for a quick and delicious lunch. A very friendly and attentive staff coupled with fresh, delicious Vietnamese fare means I will be happy to visit again soon. read more

This place is amazing. We went for the soft opening and we loved it. Great service combined with great food. I had the beef bahn mi and it was fantastic. The beef was juicy and excellent while the vegetables didn't override the dish. The service was awesome, albeit they were still learning the system at the time. They were welcoming and got the food out in a reasonable amount of time. The co-owner, Troy, came out and spoke with us for a time, great guy and talked with just about the store and the construction process. He also mentioned a possible dumpling soup and fried rice (?) to come for the grand opening. TLDR: Fully recommend this place. Great service, great food, great atmosphere. read more

Came over here after work with my wife. The staff were absolutely professionals. They attitudes were positive, and they were quick to serve. The meal was hot and very tasteful. Wow! Outstanding food! Some of the best Vietnamese food I have had; you'd think you were in Saigon. The Pho had the perfect ratio of noodles, meat and broth. Aside from the meat already cooked and in the Pho, it even came with thinly slices of raw beef to cook in the hot broth. What really impressed me was the care they took preparing the food for delivery. The box the fried egg rolls came in had vents cut in it to let out the steam so the rolls remained crispy. Nothing worse than a soggy egg roll and these were just like we would have had them in the restaurant. The delivery was so fast that my broth was still steaming when I sat down to eat. The driver even called us to let us know the food had been delivered. V Cafe is on my "recommended" list! Thanks for a very enjoyable meal. read more

Do not get me wrong, I was excited to have a Vietnames place open in NW Austin. Evten more excited after reading a few comments on Next Door. Therefore, I ordered a bunch of Bahn Mis and Spring Rolls. The sandwiches were ok, but kinda Americanized it seems. The meat springrolls were very small....the Shrimp were decent in size and quality. In a pinch an OK place, but was going to try Pho...and think we will trek to Chinatown instead. Just think it is more authentic in Chinatown than it is for the NW Austin crowd. Chinatown of course is not Houston good, but it is the best we have in Austin. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. read more

Fabulous food! The Pho was easily the best I've ever had and my wife and is Vietnamese so I've had a lot. So fresh and flavorful. Place is clean, beautiful and the service is excellent! I wanted to support this local business. When my GrubHub delivery never arrived I tried to order directly from them for pickup. Terrible customer service. When I asked to speak to a manager, it WAS the manager I was speaking to (according to her). I tend to be pretty conservative with stellar reviews, and normally, I would be more cautious about doing so after just one visit, but I am SOO happy to have found this place, practically in my back yard. Time was I had a rather long drive to obtain decent Vietnamese fare. The restaurant is clean, freshly renovated, and has a very pleasant ambience (as opposed to the restaurants of yesteryear in that same center, and many of the Vietnamese standbys I frequent in east Austin.) Staff was very friendly. I ordered the Bún bò Hu -- my usual go-to when it is on a menu, particularly when trying out a new Vietnamese restaurant I am wanting to evaluate. (I did reassure the gentleman at the counter that I was game for the whole shebang -- I am a westerner, and it is not uncommon to give confirmation, I find.) The broth was perhaps not as heavy as many, but was very solid, flavorful and aromatic, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The soup came served with the proper trimmings. My wife had their Ph and reported that their broth was quite flavorful and "perfumey" with the complex aromas of fresh seasonings. We both enjoyed our meal, and expect to become regulars. read more

We live close and wanted to check out the new Vietnamese restaurant in the area. Glad we did! My wife loves a good bahn mi (and hates a bad/mediocre one), and she was impressed. She said it's as good as Tam Deli used to be (and better than they are now), and she really liked the bread. I had the roast pork bun (vermicelli bowl) and the Thai iced tea. Our 3 year old had the kids meatballs (with the soup on the side), and he ate all the meatballs - which is impressive since he's a picky eater theses days.
