Literally the most disgusting food I have ever had. Fried chicken had a weird sweet taste, the mashed potatoes were sour....had to have been made with sour milk. The waiter was nice but didn't ask why I didn't eat my food. Nor did manager ask how meal was when I paid. He was busy chatting with a friend. You could offer me a thousand dollars and I wouldn't go back. So gross. read more

The food and service is okay for a diner, but the menu prices are pretty expensive and there is a hidden fee at the register if you pay with a credit card. It's okay in a pinch, but there's better food around at better prices. Also, I simply do not condone the idea that I should pay more for using a credit card in 2018, especially without it being better advertised. Try walking a couple blocks in any direction for better options at the same price. read more

So incredibly crowded and chaotic that I can barely stand it. I had forgotten how miserable it is to sit in a booth made for Hobbits. My breakfast of eggs, toast, potatoes and coffee flew out of the kitchen at a terrifying speed. I watched a dropped muffin under a counter stool. Really I hoped a rodent might step in to clean up. More Dystopia than Utopia. read more

My husband & I loved this place. Our waiter was really friendly with a great sense of humour. We had burgers that were really tasty. And what I really loved was that it was full of locals. Had a chat with an elderly gentleman whom was sat on the next table. I could of talked to him for hours. He was a born & bred New Yorker! Our overall experience was great. Yeah it's not the fanciest of places, but it you want a clean diner with friendly service, good food at a resonable price, then this place is perfect. read more

-- Great for breakfast / brunch. -- Quick friendly service when it's busy, virtually no service when its slow (go figure). -- Burgers are OK as are the sandwiches. -- As for the rest of the menu -- the best that can be said is that it's not cold and doesn't make you sick. read more

Service good and friendly and FAST. Refills galore and we could hear ourselves talk. Only bad thing...the ladies room was deplorable. You'd have to be under the age of 12 to fit and forget it if you are disabled! That should be illegal. Food was ok... read more

IF you are looking for a true NY Diner, this is it. Last time we were there, it was like they had ESP and knew what food we were going to order because it was ready almost before we knew we even wanted it. The service was great, coffee EXCELLENT, great breakfast, sandwiches etc. The only thing I will say is that the last three times I was there, the place was a little messy, like stuff on the floor. Other than that... LOVED IT. read more

My son and I are in town on vacation and we wanted to experience a "diner". We had a great breakfast - the staff were very friendly and my coffee was kept topped up (v important!). I would definitely go back. A little pricey to be able to justify going everyday, more of a treat. read more

Utopia - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - New York, New York

My fiance and I love this place! We go here every Sunday morning, and they've been consistently serving us good food. I love their corned beef hash with poached eggs! Chocolate pancakes are great too, as others have noted. read more

Really nice local diner. They have great food and drinks, and are open late. My only slight criticism is the service is a little slow. Still, this place feels like a little bit of a home-cooked meal in the concrete jungle of Manhattan. It's a beautiful diner! read more

They charge you a fee if you pay by card. They also have very mediocre food. If u don't want fries just take em because they will charge u more if u decide not to get them. Not a good experience. Waiter was also not very attentive read more

Beware of the credit card fee. They took our card casually, without saying anything and brought it back with a cc fee. When we asked, they were like yeah it's common practice. Of course we dig more and find out they just started it two months ago. Unacceptable they can just take your card and charge t the way they want without and info and pretending it's ok doesn't make it ok. And eggs are flavorless and dry. read more

This has become out place! I love diners and comfort food. No fancy smancy places. I love friend chicken, duck, mashed potatoes, ect.....we went there for the first time two years ago and proceeded to go 3-4 times a week! We have two regular servers lucio and Jorge. The manager always comes and sits with us and even gave us travel coffee mugs and appointment books. I like knowing in will get my food correctly. And for 35-40 dollars for full course dinners for two. Yu cant beat it!! Only issue is the menus taped in the windows so when you are sitting at the window booths which are the best seats and people from outside stop on the street to read the menu they are all in your face. read more

An authentically local place. Good food. Friendly service. NYC Grade A.

This place was really good. Got myself some breakfast there, and it was outstanding. A nice homemade Belgium waffle with eggs cooked to perfection. Really don't know how to describe this place other than fantastic. read more

This is a local place for me. It's a diner. The food is good. It is not "fine dining" but they have a large menu selection and everything is generally pretty good. As with any restaurant, some things are better than others. If there's a problem they will get you something else. The service is outstanding - quick and friendly. The service is really what makes this place enjoyable. read more

First place we stopped at. We were visiting from Kansas City and this was a spur of the moment stop for food. Aside from the looks of the place the food was excellent and the service was quick and attentive. Great establishment. read more

This is a great place for breakfast. The portions are huge, the prices are pretty standard, and the service is efficient and friendly. We sat at a window booth for a long time and they made no move to rush us, even offering more coffee. Definitely recommend. read more

This was by far the best brunch spot we've ever ate at for our Sunday brunch tradition. And the best spot we've came across during our New York vacation. It was very packed and busy but the food and service was still able to keep up. We did not have to wait fir seating because we sat at the bartop, however the seats dont leave much knee space. Despite that, the food was outstanding, and you definitely get your money's worth. They portions are abundant which is great because you can take it to go and it still tastes amazing later! Unless they're pancakes that is. The atmosphere isn't too loud despite how crowded it was so you can definitely enjoy a pleasant conversation with whoever you're eating out with! Would by far definitely recommend this place and would love to eat here again. read more

Came here the other day for dinner, and I was disgusted, there was hair on the burger I ordered, and the service was terrible! On top of the bad service I was receiving, I noticed other people eating around me that were being treated poorly. Never coming here again. read more

It's a cute location with cute autumn decor, the food was fine and the service was fine (it's a regular diner - we weren't expecting a lot, I promise.) Maybe my friend and I had overstayed our welcome, but after an hour and a half, they asked us to leave. Well, more like a worker came up, took away our water glasses and coffee and said "there are other people who need the table." They seated two men at our table, even though there were a handful of two-seater tables open in the restaurant. They had put down these men's filled water glasses before my friend and I had even packed up entirely. Rude enough for a poor review in my opinion! read more

Words cannot begin to describe the atrocious experience that this diner provided me and my friends for dinner. While it was close to my boyfriends job, we figured we would stop in on Friday night for a quite bite to eat before we headed home, and what a bad decision that was. We were rudely greeted at the door and were told to sit anywhere we wanted. We sat down, and we were approached by a waiter whom doesn't know how to check his attitude at the door of his work place, serious problems with that man. We ordered, and the food was not more than Mediocre at best. Our friends food even had a full length hair under his burger. They took the burger back with nothing but attitude, and did bring him another one, and claimed the item wouldn't get charged. But this wasn't even the worst of it. Half way through our meal, an older gentleman came in and he was rudely greeted and just as we were, suggested he sit wherever he pleased. He proceeded to head toward a booth for 4, and a waiter got in his way and yelled that he couldn't sit there, he would have to sit at a single table or at the counter top. No problem with the request of the diner, especially if their expecting a busy night, but the way they went about it was completely ridiculous. He proceeded to sit at a single booth adjacent to ours and he was treated with nothing but straight disrespect and disgusting service from the staff. They threw his items on the table, and would shush him every time he spoke up ( I'm assuming he had a hearing problem, and that explained his raise in volume the certain times he spoke). He was looked at with snickers and menacing grins, definitely not the vibe I want to experience when I'm eating dinner. We left, wrote a note on the back of the check about how people should treat others no matter their circumstance. We paid the bill and left no tip, their service was unneeded of any tip. After all of this, you think not much can get worse, but it does. My boyfriend who paid for the meal got a notification from his credit card company that they noticed a "generous tip" applied to the purchase. He called the credit card company to find out that they manually entered a $10.00 tip on the check! WHO DOES THAT? This place needs a swift check in customer service and morals when it comes to this business. Definitely, never going back. If I could rate 0 stars I would. read more

Delicious food, great menu, fast and friendly service. Quick delivery too! Reliable and enjoyable neighborhood diner.

Don't bother going here. Waiter was rude, eggshells in my food, expensive for what you get!!

My favorite UWS hangout. The nicest staff and food that I crave when I don't get to have it for a while. My family's favorite!

I ate here with a friend about two months ago. The food is decent but at the end of the meal I realized my water glass was covered with lipstick and I wasn't wearing any when I came it. We decided to be discreet and not make a scene. It took quite a while to get the waiter to come over- he only wanted the busboy to help us. When I explained the issue he offered me a new glass, not an apology or anything remotely resembling one and was rude. I asked to speak to the manager/owner who was no better. He said that everything was washed in very hot dishwashers and it had to be my lipstick. I assure you, I wasn't wearing lipstick. A simple apology instead of a lame excuse would have served us but it was not to be had. read more

Very disappointed with the food. While I have dined at Utopia years ago (2009) and found the food to be fine back then, I was disappointed with the food today. I dined with my family and all agreed each plate (turkey burger, turkey sandwich, and turkey wrap) served at lunch tasted awful. None of us finished our meals. Moreover, they gave me a cup of milk, which had a hole somewhere as the milk had made a mess at the table. I had to use most of the napkins given to us to clean it up. The waitress never asked if all was well...she was MIA. When I asked for straws or napkins, it seemed as it was too much too ask for from the busboy. The price is ridiculously high though I would have no trouble with the price had the food been tasteful. Nonetheless, my family and I will not be returning again. read more

DO NOT go to this diner. The service is horrible, and the people who run it obviously know nothing about making the guest happy. You would think the location would make a difference but it obviously has nothing to do with it. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich which was mediocre, and my girlfriend ordered a short stack of pancakes which were undercooked. I could've bought better coffee at the bodega by my apartment for 50 cents. When we informed the server about the pancakes he looked at it and said " this is beautiful, what are you taking about". Then he asked if she wanted something else which at that point we just wanted to leave. He still charged us for the pancakes which goes against dining etiquette. If a guest is unhappy with a meal and wants nothing else, you comp the dish at any restaurant. read more

This restaurant is very close to the Museum of Natural History which makes it a nice place to go after the museum. The server was very friendly and the seated us quickly. I had the Greek burger which came on a pita with a Greek salad. My partner had Rodeo burger with barbeque sauce and fries. The food was great. There were a lot of locals which tells you how popular it is. read more

Excellent inexpensive diner food, 5 stars just for reliably having Yankee Bean Soup, the king of soups.

January 1st, we ate burgers and the meat was contaminated,we got a bacterial infection! The wine glass was greasy. Worst diner ever!

Really great breakfast and very nice staff. The pancakes were really good and we all liked our meals. Would highly recommend.

Food was decent at best. Make sure you add up your bill, which are the handwritten, old-fashioned variety. I checked mine and they had "mistakenly" added $25 to the bill. I'm quite certain this was done on purpose. read more

Utopia is a diner on the Upper West Side. Food is decent, while sometimes you get the feeling that staff is rushing you out.

Rude waiter! Came here with my friends and sat down and we were going to order something to eat when something really important came up so we had to leave immediately. We left $2 on the table and told the waiter we had an emergency and told him that we would tip him $2 for sitting at the table for 5 minutes. And this man had the nerve to say-"ok, you can't afford here. It's ok, go somewhere else, you can't afford here". Absolutely disgusted with the dialect and disrespect. I wouldn't go here and expect a good costumer service if I was you! I felt like I was treated as an inferior human being which is pretty ironic considering that he was just a waiter... read more

Went here for breakfast and not only were the eggs bad, but the "glass" of orange juice that came with my 11 dollar omelet special was no bigger than a shot glass.
