    Mutton Dum Biryani
    P A.

This review is for mutton dum biryani that is available only Fri through Sunday. Been in the bay for over 15 years and tasted every popular place in south bay and east bay, I would say this is the truly authentic dum biryani I ever had. They use fresh goat meat, hence succulent with perfect amount of spices. As you open the box you get a smell of cloves and cardamom. The salan and raita is on the thinner side which is how it should be. You have option to order double masala which makes it on the spicier side. From now onwards this would be my go to place for dum Biryani. One improvement they can do is use bigger box. As you take it in the plate it creates a mess.

On the menu it was written that it would be "very mild" but was actually spicy Too much cinnamon. Every bite I have remove the cinnamon before chewing into it They could make it better Service was good

    Store didn't honor this offer.
    Naresh A.

I ordered the ghee roast paneer keema biryani family pack, and it had way too many cinnamon sticks in every bite--definitely overkill. I also tried the complimentary paneer 65, which had a nice flavor, but the paneer was raw and chewy. The biryani had a good flavor overall, but it didn't taste very authentic to me. Service was a bit slow; we waited about 15 minutes even though no one else was in line, but I don't mind waiting for fresh food. Lastly, they didn't honor the free biryani Yelp check-in offer, which was a bit disappointing. There are few tables near the food truck which are good enough for sitting down and having a meal.

Kitchen. What is synthetic motor oil doing there ?

Tried Paneer Biryani, tasted great but had a stomach upset next day. Dasher sent a picture of their kitchen, what is Synthetic motor oil cans doing in their kitchen? See the pic

No meat, bland rice. Not really biryani, poorly made "meat" pulao. Hope they can do better if I take another chance.

On this visit, we ordered the Tawa Okra Fry, and it was easily my favorite dish. If you're an okra fan, this one is a must-try. The smaller okra pieces gave it a nice crunch, and it was packed with flavor. We also had the Aloo Gobi, which was excellent. The potatoes and cauliflower were cooked perfectly and coated in a delicious gravy that paired wonderfully with rice and garlic naan. Another standout was the Chicken Tikka Kabab. It was juicy, flavorful, and simply delicious. The service was top-notch, with the staff being friendly and helpful in guiding us through the menu. The restaurant was also very clean and welcoming. Everest is truly a hidden gem in North San Jose and a place I'll definitely be returning to.

I normally avoid Indian food as they tend to be too strong in flavor and too spicy, but this Gobi coconut is not spicy at all and it's some kind of coated cauliflower with a creamy coconuty sauce, I ate a whole plate of it. On the other hand, I don't like their Fish 65 as each piece is so small that I couldn't even believe fish meat can be this small size.

Got the Goat Nihari and was shocked by how well it was cooked. Good oil separation on top and a lot of depth to the broth. The goat itself was the real surprise. Most Indian spots I go to fail braised goat in one of two ways: overcook it and it's dry and chewy, or braise it so long that it falls apart but loses all its succulence. This one was both tender and succulent. Came near closing too and it was still this good. Most places keep the meat stewing all day and that's how it goes bad. Naan was standard and good. Can't wait to come back and try more next time I need a late night fix.

They are known for their very generous Mandi dish, which is a Yemeni dish that gained popularity in Hyderabad due to Yemeni immigrants. It's a combination of flavored rice and a variety of meats. The restaurant was super busy, which speaks to how popular it is, but the service was pretty slow & they were out of many food items as a result. The restaurant has regular seating and, in addition, cute closed booths where you can sit at a low table in the traditional Indian way. The rice was seasoned with hawaij and toasted raisins and almonds, and the fish was nicely crispy and covered in a sauce similar to tikka masala, very tasty. They have a few different kinds of delicious yellow dal that make a great accompaniment to Mandi -- spinach, tomato, mango pickle. The menu is very extensive, with a wide range of Telugu dishes. Weekday buffet was not as packed and i infact saw a huge corporate team gathered for lunch. ***FOOD: doesn't feel like a luxurious buffet due to lack of space but they did have a decent spread with 3-4 veggie appetizers, 3-4 non veg appetizers, 4-5 desserts, Pani puri, fresh table side naan (which was done very beautifully), two varieties of biryani, fried rice, indo Chinese items, 3-4 varieties of non veg curries, 3-4 varieties of veg curries, salad, drinks etc. As with any buffet there will be hits and misses, I for one enjoyed the varied options and the unlimited Pani puri though it was on the sweeter side. The weekend buffet was definitely worth the price tag of $23, the weekday buffet on the other day felt expensive at $20 as the number of items were significantly lower.
