Wanted to like this spot as it's near by. But it was just ok. Birria needed the consomé to dip the taco with every bite. Carne asada just lacked seasoning. Also their sauce needs a lot more spice. It is a food truck and service was quick. Location is at a gas station. Though they have seats there it was just dirty so we ended up eating in the car.

My go to taco truck. We love the quesabirria from here. It's always busy so prepare to wait. But always fresh and tasty. We also like their burritos. They give great service, nice and understanding when we have a long order. They have tables to eat at and it's covered from the elements. They have condiments and self serve chips. I love that they are next to Olivera Egg ranch to be able to park easily and grab some eggs or drinks.

Menu was all blurry and had no prices. Lots of parking and good amount of seating. Quesadilla: 4/5 way too oily BUT love that they included beans and rice on the side. Al pastor tacos: 5/5 Carne asada tacos: 4.5/5, bit dry Tripe tacos: 2/5, wayyyyy too dry and over cooked in oil. Felt like I was eating Jerkey

Carne asada and cabeza hard shell tacos 9.5/10. Sooo good.

The crispy tacos are so, so, so, so, so good. We went on a hike nearby and our brakes started to overheat so we pulled over and we just happened to be right next to Tacos Buenrostro. We had other plans for dinner tonight but decided to get one taco each while our brakes cooled down. These tacos were hands down the best hard tacos I've ever had in my life. Flakey, crispy, delicious and perfectly seasoned. The asada, lengua, and cabeza were absolutely divine. The shrimp and cheese was okay for me. After we finished the tacos, we went back to our car but couldn't help ourselves and turned right back around to order more. We had to kiss our other dinner plans goodbye. The tacos were that good. We ended up getting the enchiladas verde, quesabirria, and churros. The churros were my favorite of the three and were piping hot and fresh. The quesabirria was moderately good and the enchiladas were okay. Service was a bit slow. They have tables and chair set up outside of the taco truck with napkins and condiments. I'd highly recommend this spot.

I had to come back for more! I can't leave this place alone. Kept thinking about it all weekend long and probably told about 30 people about this. I had to come back and at least post up a picture of the food. Here they are, the quesabirria! In all of their amazing Gloria!

The location is chill with a lot of plentiful parking, and the workers were kind and helpful. There was a large number of options to choose from and the food was very affordable if you're craving Mexican food on a budget. I ordered three tacos with lengua. It was my first time trying lengua actually so I don't know if I have proper credibility for rating my lengua. I think it could have been more flavorful and I also think they could have gave a larger portion of it in my tacos. I was still full after though because of the thickness of the tortilla wrap. There was a bit of a wait because this was a popular truck. We didn't mind the wait but did have to wait 30 minutes for all our food to be ready, so keep that in mind if you're in a hurry. Maybe they were rushing too much with the food because they did not cap the sauce in my friends takeout box and so the sauce spilled all over his tacos and bag. Also my other friend would have liked more meat with his tacos. This is a convenient and inexpensive spot if you want a chill time with your friends.

Stopped in one early evening as I spotted this on my commute home. I often will pick something up if I'm really hungry as there is nothing worse than sitting in traffic hAngry. I think more people should exercise this in their routine and there simply would be much less road rage then there currently is. Lol Nice looking truck with a cool paint job, and a few patio tables and chairs under a canopy, which was nice, as I was able to eat half my sandwich there, while taking the rest home. First visit, service was great. There was a guy there to answer questions and to dish out efficient service. Second time there, seemed more questionable like nobody seemed there, as I stood in line for about 4 minutes with zero presence. I left that day, so I only got 1 try here. Birria Torta ($13ish/3.5*) Nice sized sandwich. Decent bread that's actually toasted, which is a must for this dish as the birria is very wet/moist. Their birria is decent, basically Mexican pot roast but the meat gets kinda shredded. Decent flavor, just didn't get a whole lot of the dried red chili flavor that should shine in this preparation. I put the garnishing pickled jalapeno and onions inside and it helped it a lot. A cup of the juice (consomme) is added and I used it to dip the second half of the sandwich at home. I think I'm more used to Mexican Tortas having more fillings in there like a smear of refried beans, cheese, lettuce etc. I think this would have benefited from such a style as it would have added multiple dimensions, versus just meat and bread. Since I didn't get to try any tacos on my second visit, this review will have to stand on the solo sandwich experience. It was alright but I definitely didn't say to myself, 'you need to come back for this!'. Plop, plop, plop 3 decent stars in the bucket.

what a nice establishment, really kind and friendly workers! They also made a cute & small outdoor dining area next to the truck (: I think they're known most for their birria, lots of cheese and meat which is good! Al pastor has some chunks of pineapple, yass :3 Interesting/ unique menu items such as burgers and hot cheetos burrito. All day breakfast burritos. Self serve complimentary chips & salsa. Gracias, hard workers and so friendly!

My coworker likes the Birria here so trying it too. Foods pretty good, I got the birria Ramen and it's so meaty! Birria Ramen also comes with a birria taco so that's pretty sweet!

Friendly and fast service. Quesabirria + consommé is good. I would come back for these! But this recent trip, the food we tried was really bland. The carne asada fries looked good visually and it's a good portion. But the fries need salt or something and the beans in it weren't flavorful. We also got regular tacos with lengua, cabeza, and asada. My dad said it just tasted like they boiled the meat and put it on the taco - no seasoning?? All the flavor came from the salsa

There are more people at this Shell gas station for this truck than gas!
    Evelyn H.

Okay, folks. If you haven't already tried this food truck, please do yourself a favor and try this food truck. Located in the Shell gas station lot, parking for this place is a bit of a mad house, so I advise on street parking if you don't want to deal with the stress of maneuvering around all the cars in the lot parked for food and pulled up for gas. I ordered Al pastor everything because I love al pastor and they did not disappoint. The Al pastor hard-shell taco was topped with delicious flavors from the salsa and cojita cheese,.a nice fresh slice of tomato, and some fresh shredded iceberg lettuce. The mix of textures was great, the flavor was great, and the taco was still nice and crunchy despite having ordered it to go and eating it when I got home. Next up was the super quesadilla. I had originally intended to order the super quesabirria but the guy taking my order must not have heard it right, so I ended up with a quesadilla, but that's totally fine because it ended up being one of the best quesadillas of my life. Again, great texture (surprisingly for a quesadilla). The tortilla wasn't thick which was great and it had a nice crisp when I bit into it. The flavor could not be beat. It was sooo good. It came with a side of rice and beans (beans must have been so hot they melted the styrofoam container!) The salsas were even some of the best I've had - go figure. The chips were put out alongside sandwich bags so you could pack your own - they were fine - nothing to write home about. The orange sauce - not sure what it's comprised of, but also not amazing. Classic salsa, though - that was nice flavor with a little tang and zest and I am all for it. Pricing is more expensive than an old-school taco truck; it's more in line with a standard food truck. All in all, it was a deliciously satisfying first experience and I can't wait for my next visit! Can't wait to go back.

Lots of take out orders and dine in orders. I ordered 5 super tacos to share with different meats (pollo, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas and chorizo). The super tacos come with cilantro, onions, avocado, sour cream, cheese and pico de gallo. All the tacos come with homemade corn tortillas - you could tell they were fresh. The tacos are big, not small at all. The carne asada, carnitas and pollo was my favorite. Al pastor was good as well, chorizo was not that flavorful for me. However, they also have 3 types of salsas (green, red and a creamy orange) you can use to help add some more flavor if needed. I plan to come back here to try their burritos and tortas as well next time.

We ordered 2x Carne Asada Taco 7/10 2x Al Pastor 7/10 Asada Burrito Bowl 7/10 Enchiladas with Rojo Sauce 7/10 The burrito bowl was good, but for the price point you may be better off going to Chipotle, I felt that the burrito bowl was a bit soggy. The tacos were good and the tortilla they used was quite thick. The enchiladas had good flavor as well, and I would be interested in trying their enchilada with the verde sauce next time. Their prices have steadily risen over time and they have updated their menu prices as well. One thing that elevated this restaurant to 4 stars is their sauce! The red sauce and green sauce recipe is definitely unique compared to other taquerias. The red sauce bottle helps with the flavor tremendously and without it I would have rated this place lower.

Most of the food is prepared in a food truck where you line up and order. Seating is next to the sauce bar and they have first come first serve seating. Typical culture is to put the sauce directly on the tacos when you receive them. They give sauce cups if you order to go otherwise they are reluctant to give them out. Currently they are constructing a building around their seating area which is new. This implies that they are generating enough cash to turn their food truck and seating area into an actual establishment. Onto the food review! Carne Asada 7/10 Lengua 7.5/10 Carnitas 8/10 Cabeza 8.3 /10 Suadero 8.5/10 Al Pastor 8.5/10 Suadero and Pastor were top contenders with the most flavor depth. Personally I liked the cabeza as it was very soft, but the flavor can't compare to the suadero. The carne asada lacked flavor in my opinion and was the least tasty out of the meats we tried. Carnitas had that great crunch you're looking for in a taco as it is seared excellently. Lengua was flavorful and super soft just like the cabeza which indicates that they were both braised to perfection. All choices are very solid albeit be prepared for a very greasy meal. The star of the show is their avocado salsa! They offered 6 other sauces in their sauce bar but the avocado salsa was superb compared to the others. This was the only option that had me coming back to sauce bar throughout my meal. They also offered pickled carrots, jalapeños, and onions at their sauce bar to help balance the flavors. Finally the best JD big back tip is to get the large strawberry horchata! It was so good we finished ours before even taking a picture of it! The flavor profile on that beverage is superb, imagine a creamy strawberry yakult that is the perfect option to balance greasy tacos. This is a hidden gem item as their strawberry horchata is significantly better than other restaurants version of it. They also offer other flavored horchata but the strawberry remains top tier.

But Tres Reyes is just that good. I love how they have a dedicated dining area that is always clean. I've never had trouble finding a seat either. The dining area has a full salsa bar with all myriad sauces. They even have picked red onions, jalapeños, and carrots. So good with tacos. Finally, the selection of aguas frescas they have is insane. They have like 8 different flavors if I'm not mistaken. My absolute favorite is the melon/cantaloupe drink. It's so sweet and refreshing. You can definitely taste the fresh melon. So by all means, visit Tres Reyes. Just not too much cuz it's mine!!! ;)

The Carne Asada, Suadero, and Al Pastor are all standouts, but the Al Pastor especially earns its spot. They serve it with pineapple, which is the way it's meant to be done and a detail that tells you they actually care about getting it right. These are easily some of the best tacos in San Jose, and I don't say that lightly given how much competition there is in the South Bay. But the drinks alone might be worth the trip. Their Horchata and Agua Fresca are genuinely among the best I've had anywhere in the Bay Area and that's a real statement in a region with no shortage of excellent options. They serve soft, regular, and crispy tortillas at this chain. The carne asada was on the drier side when I had it this time. Definitely had juicier meats here in the past. The tortilla was a little crispier than I remember for the regular tacos. Will be back at this location or at the others since it's one of the popular choices in SJ!
