The crispy tacos are so, so, so, so, so good. We went on a hike nearby and our brakes started to overheat so we pulled over and we just happened to be right next to Tacos Buenrostro. We had other plans for dinner tonight but decided to get one taco each while our brakes cooled down. These tacos were hands down the best hard tacos I've ever had in my life. Flakey, crispy, delicious and perfectly seasoned. The asada, lengua, and cabeza were absolutely divine. The shrimp and cheese was okay for me. After we finished the tacos, we went back to our car but couldn't help ourselves and turned right back around to order more. We had to kiss our other dinner plans goodbye. The tacos were that good. We ended up getting the enchiladas verde, quesabirria, and churros. The churros were my favorite of the three and were piping hot and fresh. Hi guys, the reviews on this taco truck are a bit deceiving. I ordered the steak fries with no nacho cheese sauce. That's personal preference. The plate itself was heavy so there were ample portions. But the quantity of meat left me disappointed. There were more beans and lettuce than meat and the fries were soggy. The location is chill with a lot of plentiful parking, and the workers were kind and helpful. There was a large number of options to choose from and the food was very affordable if you're craving Mexican food on a budget. I ordered three tacos with lengua. It was my first time trying lengua actually so I don't know if I have proper credibility for rating my lengua. I think it could have been more flavorful and I also think they could have gave a larger portion of it in my tacos. I was still full after though because of the thickness of the tortilla wrap. There was a bit of a wait because this was a popular truck. We didn't mind the wait but did have to wait 30 minutes for all our food to be ready, so keep that in mind if you're in a hurry. Maybe they were rushing too much with the food because they did not cap the sauce in my friends takeout box and so the sauce spilled all over his tacos and bag. I always drive past this food truck, and finally I decided to try their tacos. It was 8 pm and I ordered one carne asada and one al pastor taco. It only took about 5 minutes. When I got home, I was surprised to see how full of meat each taco had, how hard i was fold into a taco shape, and how careful you have to be not to spill all the filling all over the place. It was so full of meat that I couldn't even see the tortilla. I loved how finely chopped everything was and also that they had a lot of onions and cilantro. Plus, everything was so fresh, including the slices of radish and cucumber, even though I was probably their last customer. Their orange sauce was pretty good, but I ended up using a spicier habanero sauce at home. Usually, at other taco trucks, you'd need at least 3 tacos to get full. I was pretty satisfied with two of theirs, although I wanted a third and fourth taco. There was even some extra meat that fell onto the plate that I ate afterward. Came to get food with my friend, and when I paid for my order, it charged my card, but on their end, it said "processing, please wait." We waited for more than five minutes until I asked if he could cancel it and try again. He replaced the order, and I was charged twice! The money was clearly taken out of my account, and I kept showing him, but he didn't understand. After almost 20 minutes, he said he would just make the food and hope the machine would finally load. I received only one order, even though I was charged for two. Then, my friend ordered her food, and the same thing happened to her -- her card was charged, but the worker said it hadn't processed on their end. We waited another 15 minutes before he finally called his manager. They had to restart the system and try to figure out what was going on. In the end, they didn't give us the rest of our food and claimed we weren't actually charged (even though we showed them our bank statements proving otherwise). Birria Torta ($13ish/3.5*) Nice sized sandwich. Decent bread that's actually toasted, which is a must for this dish as the birria is very wet/moist. Their birria is decent, basically Mexican pot roast but the meat gets kinda shredded. Decent flavor, just didn't get a whole lot of the dried red chili flavor that should shine in this preparation. I put the garnishing pickled jalapeno and onions inside and it helped it a lot. A cup of the juice (consomme) is added and I used it to dip the second half of the sandwich at home. I think I'm more used to Mexican Tortas having more fillings in there like a smear of refried beans, cheese, lettuce etc. I think this would have benefited from such a style as it would have added multiple dimensions, versus just meat and bread. Since I didn't get to try any tacos on my second visit, this review will have to stand on the solo sandwich experience. Okay, folks. If you haven't already tried this food truck, please do yourself a favor and try this food truck. Located in the Shell gas station lot, parking for this place is a bit of a mad house, so I advise on street parking if you don't want to deal with the stress of maneuvering around all the cars in the lot parked for food and pulled up for gas. I ordered Al pastor everything because I love al pastor and they did not disappoint. The Al pastor hard-shell taco was topped with delicious flavors from the salsa and cojita cheese,.a nice fresh slice of tomato, and some fresh shredded iceberg lettuce. The mix of textures was great, the flavor was great, and the taco was still nice and crunchy despite having ordered it to go and eating it when I got home. Next up was the super quesadilla. I had originally intended to order the super quesabirria but the guy taking my order must not have heard it right, so I ended up with a quesadilla, but that's totally fine because it ended up being one of the best quesadillas of my life. Again, great texture (surprisingly for a quesadilla). The tortilla wasn't thick which was great and it had a nice crisp when I bit into it. The flavor could not be beat. It was sooo good. It came with a side of rice and beans (beans must have been so hot they melted the styrofoam container!) The salsas were even some of the best I've had - go figure. The chips were put out alongside sandwich bags so you could pack your own - they were fine - nothing to write home about. The orange sauce - not sure what it's comprised of, but also not amazing. Classic salsa, though - that was nice flavor with a little tang and zest and I am all for it. Pricing is more expensive than an old-school taco truck; it's more in line with a standard food truck. We had a full afternoon of cleaning and moving so naturally -- we worked up an appetite. I suggested tacos for dinner and as we were driving toward a taqueria the boyfriend has been to previously, we noticed a bright orange taco truck in the same lot of the Shell gas station located at the corner of Piedmont and Sierra. We love supporting local small businesses, so drove in to park -- make sure to park on the side and not near the gas pumps. Our order consisted of three carne asada tacos, one carne asada burrito, french fries, and a coke to share. The tacos were really good and I appreciated the tortillas being extra crispy around the edges -- in my opinion, it helps hold all the toppings together much better. The burrito was huge and came with all the works including rice, beans, pico de gallo, lettuce and their signature red sauce. The fries came out hot and crispy, and were a great price for such a large portion. They have a free chips and salsa station, but only chips are there for grabs. You'll have to ask for the salsa from the window -- they probably do that for cost control, or they care and don't want the salsa to spoil while it's sitting out all day. Anyway, the menu is pretty cool because aside from tacos, burritos, and birria -- they also offer nachos, hot dogs, burgers of all kinds, breakfast plates, seafood plates, Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, BLTs, quesadillas, among other items. They have a couple of tables and seats so you can dine next to the truck with some comfortable lighting.
