La Costa has some of the best ceviche around -- definitely my favorite in the area! I've only tried their shrimp ceviche tostada so far, but nothing else around even comes close. The flavors are bright, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The tostadas are crisp and sturdy enough to hold all that ceviche goodness without getting soggy right away, which I love. I don't usually eat spicy food, so I really appreciate how accommodating they are. They're always happy to make it non-spicy for me without compromising the flavor. The portion sizes are generous, the value is great, and everything always tastes incredibly fresh. Pro tip - even if you dine in, you can ask them to put the ceviche in a to-go cup so it's less messy! This place has been serving the best burritos in San Jose for many years. This is my go to spot for burritos especially if you don't like sauces like other places. The meat is seasoned well and the rice compliments. I usually just use lime or lemon maybe a little salsa but if you don't like either the burrito by itself in my opinion is the best as is. They also have really good ceviche Cameron which I would definitely recommend. The shrimp ceviche was delicious and full of shrimp, though my friend's shrimp and octopus cocktail was 95% shrimp. The bad: My shrimp burrito was flavorless. The shrimp were plentiful but plain, and I had to douse every bite in hot sauce to get any seasoning. The chicken nachos were also lacking, and the chicken was oddly sweet. Also strange was the way the nachos were arranged, with guacamole in one corner, cheese in another, and salsa in a third corner. It was like going around a game board, trying to get everything in one bite, but our chips broke each time we tried. It's in a sketchy part of San Jose (definitely watch your step on the sidewalk), but the seafood was very good. Burrito itself was big in size and overall tasted fire alongside my sister's homemade jalapeños. Aguachile was AMAZING. My eyes were a lot bigger than my stomach!! La Costa is the place to go for fish tacos. They have the best fish tacos ever. Personally I think their fish tacos are better than any of the ones I've had in Monterey. Tacos come out warm with the fish still hot. The fish has a nice crunch. The sauce and slaw are so bright and yummy and just what the taco needs. They are $4 each because they are huge. Two is enough for a meal. The al pastor tacos are also pretty tasty. I like to order one fish taco and one taco al pastor whenever I go. The meat's marinade is nice and it's ready to eat as is. Doesn't need sauce because it's not dry! The regular meat tacos are $2.50 each and regular taco sized. This location is better than the one on Monterey in my opinion. The one on Monterey also didn't have fish tacos when I went, which is a shame. There is a parking lot and street parking here which is very nice and convenient. No indoor dining, outdoor only. I've been going to La Costa's other location on Monterey for years and because I've loved it there, I decided to stop by the North Valley location since it was on the way to my friend's. We ordered the 2 taco plate, super nachos asada, and super burrito Al pastor. We were super hungry and forgot to take photos but the taco plate came with a large serving of meat, but with no tortillas. They completely forgot the tortillas for the tacos! Our friend who ordered that plate said the meat was good though. They charged us for the super burrito we ordered, but forgot the cheese, sour cream, and guac for the super burrito. It was just rice, beans, and meat. The burrito tortilla was kind of tough as well. Finally, the nacho chips were super stale and the guac was an unnatural bright green color I've never seen before.
