I was craving pupusas and found this place while browsing doordash. OMG, it is so good and will be my go-to spot when I want pupusas, enchiladas and machete. I ordered the machete with lengua and the meat was so tender and flavorful. They gave a lot of meat too! The flour was nice and crispy and it wasn't greasy at all. I ordered pupusas with beef, chicken, and chorizo. The beef pupusas is the best, so I would just order that next time. I also ordered the quesadilla palacio with papas con chorizo, but it was ok. I really enjoyed the crispy shell but I expected there to be more chorizo. The potato's was kind of underwhelming. I will try it with cheese next time.
My sister has been raving about this pupusa place forever and we are so glad we finally made the trek down to South Bay to try this. Rating Breakdown: 2/2 Stars for Taste -- We ordered a bunch of pupusas to split. We tried the chicharron con queso, zucchini, mixed pork, and the beans and cheese. Honestly, they were all so good, it was hard to pick a favorite. I wasn't even mad at the ones without meat in them. Just slather them pupusas with red sauce, pile that slaw on, and shove it in my face. We also tried the huitlacoche quesadillas for the novelty, which was good but wouldn't go out of my way to have it again. The quesadillas palacios were also worth trying. The surprise of the night was the empanadas de platano, a dessert that was not too sweet and a great way to round out a meal made of carbs on carbs on carbs. Don't forget the horchata or the jamaica to wash the carbs down. 0.5/1 Stars for Value -- Not cheap! The menu doesn't have prices on most of the items so you're kind of ordering blind. We ended spending about $25 per person, but we kind of went overboard because we wanted to try everything and we also got drinks. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- If you dine in, they give you complimentary chips and salsa. (They're Costco chips, but free is free.) The servers were super nice. There's a bit of a wait for the food, but everything was made in house (except the chips lol) so that was to be expected. Bonus star because I would definitely be back for the pupusas and to try other items on the menu like the alambre!
I've had this restaurant bookmarked for a long time. I finally got to try them last night. TLDR: Food was delicious and the staff was super friendly. No prices on most of their menu items though. It's a bit of a hole in the wall joint, in a small strip mall, with a club next door and a small parking lot. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. The inside dining area is a bit small. They can seat maybe 30 people. We were able to grab the last table. Looking at the menu, it was hard to decide what to get. Everything looks so good. I seriously wanted to order everything! They even had another short menu on the wall. I went with the pupusas ($4.50 ea), and my wife got their quesadillas palacios (~$16) with chicken. I ordered 3 different pupusas thinking I could eat them all. They were so big that I only ate one of them. I love that they make it to order. There was one lady making pupusas the entire time we were there. The masa is thin and there's filling to the edge. So good when it's still hot and the cheese is melty. I tried my wife's quesadilla, and that was awesome! I loved the deep fried masa. It just fell apart while eating, otherwise, it was really tasty. We washed everything down with a large horchata. So good! I just docked a star because their menu items weren't all priced.
i've been wanting to try this little Salvadorian spot in SJ for a little while now. Palacio del sabor is an easy to miss spot most known for their pupusas and tacos. every review i saw said I HAD to try the pupusas and that's exactly what i did. i ordered a bean and cheese pupusa and a chorizo/potato one. the woman who took my order spoke very little english and that's when i knew i was in good hands. right when i walked in, i could see all the food being cooked right behind the counter and it all smelled incredible. my 2 pupusas came out to $10 even and was ready in less than 10 minutes. my food was wrapped in a big plastic plate and covered in foil to stay warm and i was also given a plastic bag with cabbage and peppers along with some spicy/sweet red sauce (forgive me for not knowing the name). the bean and cheese pupusa was fine, kind of what i expected, but the real star of the show was the chorizo pupusa. the woman who took my order said there was no cheese in the chorizo pupusa, only potato, and i said that was fine, but when i bit in, there was actually no potato and there was cheese. i wasn't sad in anyway because this ended up being really tasty, the cheese was gooey and creamy and complimented the salty chorizo very well. in the second picture you can see i topped my pupusa with the cabbage and sauce and it created a terrific meal. i also added some crema after a few bites which made it even better. i plan on coming back and i'm super happy i made the trip
What a hidden gem! My boyfriend and I were in the area and wanted to try a new spot. We were craving tacos and nachos, so with the help of Yelp, we found El Palacio Del Sabor. There is a private parking lot with limited parking, but we found a spot right away. The restaurant has limited seating inside and outside. You'd order first and if you are eating at the restaurant, you will pay for your meal after. Seats are first come, first serve - choose any seating you'd like. We ordered 1 Carne Asada Nachos, 2 Al Pastor Tacos and 1 Small Horchata. If you eat in, you get complimentary chips and salsa. My boyfriend loved the salsa and he liked it more than the salsas served with the nachos and tacos. We loved everything! The horchata was creamy, sweet and not too much cinnamon. The nachos.. omg! The chips were fried fresh! When they brought out the nachos, you can smell the freshly, fried chips. The nachos had refried beans, cheese, jalapeños, choice of meat, cilantro, sour cream and salsa. Hands down, one of the best nachos we've ever had. The tacos... delicious as well!! Service was nice. Like a lot of people have mentioned, there is a bit of a language barrier. If you don't speak Spanish, it's a bit hard to order. We definitely will be back. We'd love to try their pupusas sometime!
Thank you yelpers for the recommendation! Never knew this place was so close to home and was so good. I've already come back 3 times since discovering this 2 months ago! What we've ordered so far: * Puerco y Queso Pupusa 5/5 * Reveulta Pupusa 4.5/5 * Quesadillas Palacios Papas con Chorizo 5/5 * Al Pastor Super Burrito 3/5 I'd pass on the burritos here. You can get these at any other taqueria, but the pupusas and quesadilla Palacios are where this place shines! You can also order ahead via Uber Eats and Doordash for pickup or delivery.
I ordered these quesadillas palacios and they were so good! They taste like empanadas and were very cheesy. The server was attentive and came to check on us a couple of times. We were seated outside and there looks to be a club at night so there were people coming in/out of there but overall the ambiance was okay.
Impressed!! I really enjoyed the pupusas revueltas, so much so I ordered another one mid meal. The pupusas have a great consistency all around. Thin layer of masa so it's not so doughy, with the right amount of filling. You might get a good one with cheese oozing out, that's when it's nice and crispy, mm m mmm! The slaw was nice and seasoned, could almost eat it on its own, but you can't! The sauce! The saaauuccee! I need a bendy straw to drink out of the bottle. It's got a nice tang with a hint of oregano that just complements the slaw beautifully. These are some of the best pupusas I've had around the entire Bay Area. Walking in, a bit skeptical as we were the only ones in, but by the time we left, all the tables were taken, with people starting to line up. It must have been all the "mmmmm!!" going on inside aha ha. Service is great, tended to fairly quickly and regularly. Food came out hot and fast. Pay at the counter for quick and easy checkout. This is the typical vibe of a place you look for that deliver great food. I wanted to hug the lady that made my pupusas! You can tell she's passionate in the kitchen and she totally owns it. I'm definitely going to be a regular here, and I'm sure you will too! Thank you El Palacio Del Sabor!
The restaurants that I go to for Al Pastor locally are on a very short list nowadays. They do their Al Pastor correctly, not just cooked up seasoned pork. I've noticed that a lot of places don't do Al Pastor well, and some that did changed the way they prepare it (maybe due to supply chains or cost savings). I really enjoyed their pork, beans, cheese pupusas. I wonder if I could put together an Al Pastor Pupusa "mulitas"...
$16 for a burrito with a rock the size of a tooth in it. My boyfriend lost his appetite and is wondering if he may have consumed tiny bits of rock while eating this burrito. DoorDash credited us, but we're extremely disappointed because the tacos and pupusa were good. And who knows how many other rocks ended up in other people's food? Hate to do this to a small restaurant, but please do better next time.
Found this hidden place on Yelp as I was looking to find the best pupsa's! I was not disappointed! I got the chicharron and cheese filling pupusa, it was so flavorful and delicious. Love that ther gave complimentary chips and salsa. Parking is a bit tight but we didn't go when it was super packed. Definitely will be back! read more

Cane into El Palacio Del Sabor for lunch to get my fix of something spicy. The lady at the register greeted us as we enterd and she was very friendly. Picked up a menu and made our selections to go. Orderd a gordita which is a thick corn tortilla filled with chicken, lettuce, queso Isco, and salsa. It was a bit bland so added some salt and red sauce and it was better. Also oredered the fried yuca with carnitas and the fried plantains with cream. The yuca and carnitas had a peqular taste wich I couldn't quite figure out. Will pass on this item next time. The plantains were ok and the cream added some sweetness to them. read more

Wow! Delicious pupusas! I want to preface by saying papusas aren't my favorite food however I really enjoy their's. I prefer the masa not to be on the thick side, theirs is just right. My most recent order was one zucchini and cheese pupusa and one potato and chorizo. I thought they were both delicious but I preferred the zucchini and cheese one! My friend also ordered a birria quesadilla "pizza", it was delicious! We had a bit of a large order and nothing was missing which is way a plus! I will for sure be returning! read more

A MUST TRY!!! YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE!!! Yesterday I ordered Door Dash from here and I fell in love!!!I knew I had to get it again!!! TODAY, I ordered on the phone and came into the store to pick it up. Everyone is super friendly and nice I will be back. How I found this place?!? I really wanted a pambazo and I really wanted some tacos and what I found out was there are barley any places that sell both..I found El Palacio Del Sabor on Door Dash and then looked it up on Yelp and they have some pretty good reviews so I decided to order from El Palacio Del Sabor for lunch/dinner because they had both a pambazo on their menu and tacos. I'm using the spelling that was provided on their menu for this review so if it's wrong or right please don't mind me.. I ordered: Tacos al pastor: HOW CAN YOU GO WRONG WITH TACOS AL PASTOR?! You can't, so if you do there's really something wrong with the way you marinate your al pastor. I ordered three al pastor tacos and the meat was super soft and juicy. I wish I ordered 6!!! Chicken or tripas are my go to meats for tacos, but I saw in the reviews that al pastor here is really good so I gave it a try. My go to taco meat now will be al pastor, so yummy. Tamale Salvadoreno: El Palacio has two choices of meat for their tamales. You can either choose pork or chicken. I chose pork tamales and I am very happy with my choice. The tamales were not dry at all, they were super moist. I've had home made tamales made with banana leaf before and they were wonderful. Its been a journey finding tamales made out of banana leaf that were as bomb as those, but I FOUND THEM!!! I love that the pork inside was also very tender and flavorful. YOU NEED TO TRY THESE!!! Pambazo: OKAY, this was my first time having a pambazo and when i'm telling you it was HUGE I meant it was HUGE!!! The pambazo fits into a whole large togo box!!! I had to cut the sandwich in 4's in order to eat it. It was SO BIG!!! So BIG, SO TASTY, SO MEATY!!! I got the chorizo and potatoes pambazo. Sometimes when a sandwich is big the ratio of the meat to bread is usually skimmed, but this pambazo had a great bread to meat ratio!!! FANTASTIC!!! Pupusas: I've tried many pupusas in my life and I swear every single pupusas I've tried has been delicious. I personally think it's because you don't find pupusas on a random menu somewhere.. you find it on an authentic El Salvadorian menu. Not sure if all the places I've gone to have been authentic El Salvadorian places, but regardless still BOMB. I got the pupusas with cheese, refried beans, and pork in it. So good!!! I really enjoyed everything I ordered so far. My favorite favorite favorite things are the tamales, but everything else is wonderful!!! Today I came by and got some pork tamales, chicken burrito, pupusas, al pastor and chicken tacos!!! I can't wait until the next time I come back to El Palacio Del Sabor!!! They have an extensive menu and lots to choose from so each time I come here i'm going to try to get something new because there's just so much to choose from and I just want to try everything!!! read more

This is the place for amazing service and delicious Salvadoran food!! They served and sat us down right away and really took care of us that evening. The waiter was so sweet and attentive and put a little orange slice on our water cups! I got two queso con frijoles pupusas and honestly should have ordered just one because these bad boys are LARGE! For the price of $3.50 each (a little more than what I usually pay for pupusas), they were incredibly big and filled! Made well and with love, this restaurant offers delicious food coupled with a great experience for the customer. I enjoyed my time at El Palacio Del Sabor and will be coming back for some more pupusas another time! read more

I was craving pupusas so bad, I worked up the courage to go get some here and I did not have any regrets! They were so kind and nice and welcoming. Even if you don't speak Spanish, they'll help you so don't let that stop you from experiencing their delicious pupusas. We ordered 4 and it was about a 10 min wait to get our food to go and it was the cheesiest and comforting thing ever! Highly recommend this place! read more
Had a major craving for a burrito that just wouldn't go away and while scrolling on door dash I noticed this gem had a bunch of rave reviews. I bit the bullet and I'm so glad I tried this place out bc the food is really fantastic and perfectly filling. I got their regular al pastor burrito which is huge by the way and I could only finish half, but my mouth was dancing in flavor town. Their agua de fresca is so creamy yet refreshingly sweet enough to the point I realized my drink was halfway gone after one sip. You'll definitely need a larger size of this and it complemented the salty meat very well. read more

No idea where this place is located except somewhere near Capitol/McKee. I have Door dash this place TWICE and it's delicious without fail. (I was just craving Mexican food and wanted to try somewhere new and close by to home.) My hats off to their chef. Seems like a mom and pop shop. Food is authentic. Good portions for price you pay but it is $$. Food and drinks we've tried: - jalapeño and cheese pupusas - squash and cheese pupusas - pambazo - Gordita - sopes - plantin banana with condensed milk - fruit mix drink - horchata - Jamaica Found our new favorite Mexican food place. Definitely will be a returning customer (whether it's Doordash or in-person). read more

If you want authentic Mexican food, go here! Omg. I live in San Jose where we have tacos every half mile so the options are endless. This place however, is head and shoulders above the rest. Try the beef head(cabeza), beef tongue (lingua), and pork (pastor) tacos. The cabeza was amazing. Probably some of the best you'll ever find. We also had the chicken soup which was pretty decent. The menu is very extensive. I can't wait to go back and try all their seafood and fruit/savory options. read more

this place has always been my go to pupusa place, but I'm sure everyone has seen that viral pupusa place in Hayward "Las Cabanas" on social media, it's too hyped up, we went to try it out, not worth the drive, it was very very disappointing. Nothing compared to these, these have flavor like most of their food, everything is always delicious, so if you want Pupusas this is the place. read more
Interesting hole in the wall type of restaurant that is actually very cute and colorful and big in the inside. You can see the kitchen in action right there at the entrance, which is good, nothing hidden. I tried something delicious, the quesadilla de huitlacoche, something so earthy and different. I was curious to know what was this huitlacoche, as it tasted somehow like mushrooms. The server just told us 'is corn' so I assumed it was a variety of corn I did not know about. However is indeed a fungus that occurs as plague in many crops and for some countries when that happens to their corn crops is a total disaster and some others, like Mexican farmers, transform a disaster into a delight. In fact I read that huitlacoche is a delicatessen at many refined restaurants. The salsas were fresh and awesome, but the vegetarian tacos and the sope fell short as compared to other places my colleague have frequented in the area the past few months. I will go back to try the pupusas, they had a great look. Ambiance is casual and crowded in a nice way. read more
