First time trying pupusas. Had a good hangout trying out two of them and the super burritos. The frijoles and chicharron one was solid, but the chicken with cheese was really good with the verde sauce. Definitely worth checking out. read more

We order from La Costa Del Sol often for our office meetings. The food is always super flavorful and there is always plenty of it. Our team requests this place often because the pupusa are so delicious. The cabbage that goes on top of the pupusa is crispy and full of flavor and their salsas are very delicious as well. Highly recommend for corporate and inhouse dining. They've done a nice job of remodeling the restaurant and offering some new menu items which is a plus. read more

I had been craving this place for weeks!! Only to come and have them be nonchalant and unwelcoming. These place needs to update their hours of service. I walked in 5/8 at 8pm 2 ladies had a very unwelcoming reaction and they whispered something amongst them, so I asked if we could sit they said they were already closed. You'd think they would turn off their sign and lock the doors, and of course update their operating hours both on Yelp and google. read more

We ordered food from here for a team lunch. Had vegetarians in the team as well. Everyone commented that the food was delicious. They called me the morning of delivery (ordered through EZcater) for the vegetarian options to make sure I knew the various veggie lunches they offered. I asked them to up the order last minute and they accommodated my request. I definitely recommend the veggie enchiladas and chicken tacos! read more

I have been to this location a few times. I love their pupusas here- it's been one of my top 2 spots I frequently visit for pupusas. Their Curtido and salsa is solid as well. I haven't tried other things on the menu besides the horchata which has a bit left to be desired- it's too watery on top and highly concentrated rice/ spice that remains on the bottom. In my last visit there, about 2 months ago, I found hair in one of the pupusas. Anyway, I would still give them the benefit of the doubt, as I have been here several times and I had anything go wrong just that one time. Their prices are reasonable and I recommend getting the lunch specials. The service is decent- about 20 minutes for walk in/ pick up orders. You have the option for casual dine in as well. read more

Got two burritos and had waaaay too much rice and hardly anything else. The rice tasted like it's been in the refrigerator for a couple days Also I wanted a regular burrito. Asada, beans, cheese, rice, and asked to add sour cream. The lady said the regular does not come with sour cream so she charged me for a super. She looked annoyed when I asked why couldn't she just add sour cream to the regular and just charge me the extra because I didn't want the GUACAMOLE, SALSA, ONION, CILANTRO. I didn't want to argue so I just said charge me for the SUPER but take out the rest of the items. Never coming here again. Food was not good. Service was not good either. read more

My husband and I ordered take out from here on a Tuesday evening. Food: My husband got the al pastor super burrito. He thought it was good. I ordered two pupusas. I got the bean and cheese one and I got the one with squash. Both pupusas were good. They were very generous with the amount of take out sauce and veggies they gave with the pupusas. Service: The food was prepared in a timely manner, and everyone we interacted with was cordial. Overall, not a bad place to order take out from. Will come back to try other things in the future. read more

Zero stars if I can! Horrible place to come eat , they have terrible service. This is an empanada that I ordered for pick up, and while I was feeding it to my son he got this piece of metal thing out of his mouth. Please avoid this place Another horrible experience at costa del sol took 20 min just to give us menu and another 15 to take our order. Waitress was very RUDE! Just threw the menu at us didn't even greet us! After we had a meal I wanted to order something so I can take it home and I waved my hand at her to get her attention she LITERALLY made me yell my order to her where I was sitting to where the cashier is m! I decided to try this place out after being recommended to this place by a fellow Yelper. Since it was close to home, why not? Here's why not: 1) After checking into this place, my Yelp app said "Get a free Pupusa or Taco". I presented it to the guy (Hernando) and he tells me it's not for this place. Come again? I must be hella stupid because my check in was for La Costa Del Sol and that's the same sign that's outside. 2) The carnitas burrito I ordered was loaded with rice and beans and only a smidgen of this mystery meat that legends say is supposed to be carnitas. 3) I decided to give this place another shot after Slumdog texted me a picture of their crispy tacos for $2. We come in and place our order for 4 tacos and 2 Salvadorian Tamales and waited as they made them. And waited. Waited 25 minutes for 4 crispy tacos. Does it really take that long to make tacos? 4) Hernando starts ringing up my order and says $15.16. Lemme see....$2 x 4 tacos = $8. Add 2 $2 tamales = $12. How did it come out to $15? Hernando then tells me crispy tacos are 50 cents more. WHAT? Where does it say that? He couldn't answer as he anxiously tries to flip thru the menu trying to find something that didn't exist. Dude--my friend just came here today and got the SAME THING and he got charged $2 why are you trying to jack me? 5) The tacos were stuffed with lettuce and lacked meat. Did Subway contract with you guys? Where's the beef? 6) The Salvadorian tamales had the consistency of drywall paste. They stick a boiled chicken wing in every one with the entire bone in it. Chicken had 0 flavor also. Don't waste your time here. Your shady business tactics, your stupid Yelp check-in deal that you won't acknowledge, and your meatless tacos are lame! VEGETARIAN REVIEW 5 stars for food 2 stars for the staff / communication. Hubby n I noticed this place while we were here for a drive thru coffee. I quickly yelped the place n found that there were vegan n vegetarian choices. However when we were here for lunch a few days later, we walked in and asked them if they could make something vegetarian, the staff said "chicken ok?" and then i had to explain to her. Her english was pretty good though but she had no knowledge of what vegetarian was. Hubby ordered veggie burrito - easy peasy - it was on the menu. We got a free pappusa for yelp check-in. They were super yummy. I wanted to try something else n asked if they could make the fajita vegetarian. the woman checked with the chefs inside n said yes. now whn you ask for a veggie fajita most places give you sauted onion n peppers, spanish rice, refried beans, lettuce n tomato and sour cream. Here it didnt come with rice n beans. I had to order them separately ! A HUGE plate of sautéed onions n peppers with lettuce on top comes to our table n she asks me if i needed tortillas.. lol... hello?? ofcourse i need 'em! I believe the chips n salsa are free but we had to ask them! they came stale. my fajita tasted super yummy.. even the day after! So - expect some confusion if you are willing to wait for some awesome food. read more

What can I say. Ive been coming here for a few years and the food is good. I normally get the pupusas every time I come. My favorite pupusa is the revuelta (which is a mix of beans, cheese, and meat), and I also like the carne asada pupusas. Prices are low for the food you get. Would reccomendcallung ahead and making your order that way you dont have to wait. read more

This place is okay at best. I came here twice in the time span of a month hoping to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I just wasn't satisfied with the food both times. We walked in and ordered our food which consist of 1 al pastor burrito, 1 carne asada burrito, and 2 cheese and chicharron pupusas. Waited pretty long for my order even when it wasn't that busy. About 20-30 minutes which isn't bad, but it was dead the day that we came. Had 5 bites of my burrito and ended up not finishing it because it just wasn't tasting too great. I moved on to the pupusa and it wasn't bad, but also wasn't the best. I'd give it a 3/5 and the burrito a 2/5. Probably won't be coming back here, but the service was still good. The workers are nice which is why I have it a 3 stars instead of 2. read more

Got a steak burrito with avocado yesterday around 1 pm. Spent the whole day and night throwing up and having diarrhea. Food poisoning this place is so inconsistent. But this time did it for me. Oh the expectations and experience I had for this place was quickly ruined as soon as the food arrived. I was so hyped up after seeing photos for the popular crispy tacos and pupusas. Let's try with the positive first. The pupusas were serviceable. Pretty good first experience for the pupusas and the cabbage and sauce were pretty good. Now the thing I was expecting to blow me away came out disappointing. The avocado/guac was browning. I'm not sure how long it's been out or anything but it was spread all over my taco and I had to try to scrap it off. Nothing serious would have happened if I had a bite, I'm sure, but visually it was so unappealing and made me lose my appetite. I might come back because of a Restaurant certificate for pupusas, but man. What a let down.. read more

I loved this place but today was one of the worst experiences ever and my family will not be going back 1) We were never notified that our order was ready for pick up. 2) THEY GAVE US THE COMPLETLY WRONG ORDER when we did realize our food was ready. 3) The lady was rude as heck on the phone when we called to see if our order was still ready aNd she hung up on me while I was trying to talk to her. They gave us shrimp pupusas?! When our order had no mention of ShRimp, FYI: Im allergic to shrimp lucky for them I had medication on hand cause I did not notice the shrimp until I had taken a couple of bites.... When my mom called them they talked for a while but all they could say is we can give you 3 free pupusas and my mom was upset cause they weren't careful and If i didn't have my medicine on hand I would have had to go to the ER...when my mom said that they hung up on her. Haven't been to many Salvadoran restaurants in the area, but I'm glad I tried this one. Ordered the mixed plate, an order of pastelitos, and two pupusas. The mixed plate brought a tamale, plátano, a fried egg, and a pupusa. The food was good, you can tell it was made on the spot because of long they took and how hot the food was. The pupusas were tasty and not too greasy, and so was the tamale. The pastelitos could've had a little more filling, but they were still good. Only downside was the rude cashier who seemed reluctant to take my Yelp coupon for the free pupusa. read more

I have heard good things about this food joint so I gave it a shot for the first time and the service is horrible. I have food allergy and specifically ask for it to be made without such and such and they seem to agree and understood. Food was okay. One star mainly to the rude cashier who took our order really insisted what he thought our order was and billed us for $30. We tried correcting him but he insisted what he thought he heard which was rude af. We just wanted two drinks, two tacos, and a tostada PLATE. NOT a carne asada plate. Our bill shouldn't have been $30. Felt robbed. He wouldn't even show us the receipt cuz he know he messed up. read more

We ordered two carne asada w/cheese pupusas, $4 each. I paid with cash. The young lady had to dig into her purse for change. LOL I tipped the change into the tip jar. They have some tables and chairs under a canopy to wait or dine. There is also a portable sink to wash your hands and a porta potty nearby. It took maybe 10 minutes to get our order, as these are made-to-order. Our to-go order was really hot and came with a bag of ice-cold tomato salsa and a bag of slaw, (which I later learned is curtido.) Since this was the first time trying a pupusa before, we had no idea how to eat it and what to do with the curtido and salsa. Pupusas are okay for being local to the South San Jose area. If youre willing too drive a little further you can get much more bang for your buck. Burritos are amazing, VERY disappointing that they ceased allowing customers to order multiple meats in their burrito. A surcharge is understandable but even then they decline to fulfill your request. la Costa Management, As a customer, we like our requests to be fulfilled not declined. The lady running the cart was pretty nice and recommended the pork as it wasn't spicy and having it as a plate so she can put creama and cheese on top (omitted the salsa). For $5, it was a pretty big tamale, though I do miss the days of $2-3 tamales. The masa was moist and pork was full of flavor. No regrets. The kiddo almost ate the whole thing, I really enjoyed the creama and cheese to add a bit of saltiness. They also had a green sauce to add acidity (lime) flavor as well. $4 to go, $5 plate, and an option to have it as a sandwich. They also have alots of drink options.

Martha answered immediately, and within the first 30 seconds of speaking with her, I knew we wanted to hire her. The food was absolutely delicious and freshly cooked on the spot for each person. Martha and her team were also professional, friendly, and easy to work with throughout the event. The only thing I would do differently next time is have the team arrive about an hour earlier for setup so dinner can begin exactly on schedule. I highly recommend Martha's catering and food truck company. The food is outstanding, the service is professional, and the pricing is very affordable!
