I have been coming here for at-least four years and their empanadas have been consistently delicious and fresh. I have tried most of them and think the spinach & cheese, chicken & mushroom are the best ones but honestly everything is so good. I like to get their side of potatoes with cajun dressing. I also order a side of their rocoto sauce -- it's fiery and tangy and like everything tastes fresh.The staff if also so friendly and warm here.
We just ran on the Los Gatos Creek Trail and headed over to try out their breakfast items on a saturday morning. Everyone in the plaza was trying to wait in line for the bagel place in the plaza but we figured we would try this place since there was less of a wait. We were glad we did as it had a wide variety of breakfast options for really cheap! They had savory empanadas, sweet empanadas, fruity ones and even smoothies to say the least! We ordered the chorizo, apple & cranberry, and the peach & blueberry empanadas! + a mixed berry smoothie. I was pleasantly surprised by the empanadas, for ~$4 each the fruit empanadas were quite tasty! If we had time, I would've bought more. My favorite were the fruit empanadas, because the fillings were freshly heated up prior to serving and the fruit was super fresh and tasty. The mixed berry smoothie was a little sweet, maybe they added some sugar or the fruit was just that sweet, but that was the only comment I would say regarding our order. Additionally, their bathroom is pretty clean and is available for customers to use! The seating is self-serve. Our table had some crumbs from previous customers, but we just used some napkins to wipe it down on our own. Water is available, and self-serve! A quick side note is that on their menu, the main prices (which are more costly) refer to the meal-deal. If you want to order the empanadas ala-carte, then you can refer to the "ala-carte" price in the smaller non-bolded font. This is how we got our meal to be sub ~$20!
Ordered an iced vanilla latte and a lomo saltado empanada. The coffee was pretty average and the empanada was pretty small and tasted fine. The cashier recommended I try it with mango chutney to get a variety of flavor. I think I would've preferred it with less sweetness. The inside is pretty cute but the front is a bit small. I think that Milohas near Camden has better portions and are a bit tastier but I do appreciate that BAE offers different unique flavors.
Ordered this as "BAE" off DoorDash and it was the best empanadas I've ever eaten! I ordered the spinach & cheese, blueberries & peach, Thai spicy, and potatoes & egg. They were all so good I can't pick a favorite! I got these to cheer me up and wow you can't be sad eating empanadas. They were very big and filled. I would order again for a party to share.
Campbell's Best Artisan Empanadas is where its at they've been in business for nearly five years. So happy they're opened at 6 in the morning light traffic ample parking in an area whereas alot business are still closed. Came by on a Wednesday morning and the employees are so attentive and greeted with such enthusiasm. They were very helpful on the menu selection I chose the beef empanadas generous portion tender flaky texture crispy light healthier meal comes with a cup of creamy dipping sauce which adds flavor service has been top notch I also chose mocha latte with whipped cream. Interior very spacious so inviting so vibrant definitely be back for more savory breakfast empanadas!
I'm into Perú Father** and daughter owned Peruvian Empanada shop located on the outskirts of Downtown Campbell that's been in business for nearly five years. They also sell coffees and smoothies, but the Empanadas are clearly the money-maker here. From savory to sweet and everything in-between. It's important to note that Peruvian Empanadas are typically baked, and not fried like their Columbian counterparts, and also feature a more vast array of ingredients (e.g., olives, raisins hard-boiled eggs, etc.) than the heavily spiced ground meat that's typical in the Colombian variety. The Good: *Friendly service *Small shared lot but there's also free street parking, as well. *Small selection of bottled Mexican beers *Interior décor is kitschy and inviting. *Their half salad and Empanada meal is a great deal at ±$14 that's plenty of food for most normal people, but fat asses, such as myself, will probably want en extra or two. Oink oink *All three Empanadas we tried were really tasty, with the Traditional (beef, onions, raisins & olives) bring my favorite. Our only complaint was the Chorizo, Egg, & Potato was a touch dry for our liking. The Meh: *Outdoor seating but not like the photos you see here on Yelp, which must've been during The Rona Years. It now consists of one table and a few chairs. *We didn't get to try any of their dessert Empanadas, but there's always next time, Gadget! Next Tiiiiimmmmmeeee...!! The Ugly: *They need to work on their signage game. When approaching from the west side (Foote Ave) you can't tell if it's them or not, especially if it's your first time. Also, once you're inside there's a sever lack of a nice big, bright menu board. They certainly have a nice big wall space behind the counter for a LCD TV or two showing their drink and food options. Otherwise, you have to cut the line and grab one of their laminated menus from the counter, which feels kinda rude. Plus, I'm sure it would help with their drink sales if you could see the options before getting to the counter. Conclusion: Great little spot for a casual, cheap, and delicious lunch or breakfast. **The father also owns the long-standing (20+yrs) Big E Café in San José's Cambrian Park neighborhood.
Holy smokes!!! This place is so bomb!!! The empanadas are out of this world! I feel like I just got transported to South America. Authentic, perfectly seasoned and baked to perfection. None of that greasy, deep fried wannabes out there. This is the real thing! The spicy Thai chicken and the lomo saltado is the best and my partner doesn't eat meat so he got the potatoes and they were seasoned to perfection and they even had the most delicious sauces. There's chimichurri and this other red one that has a hot kick, yummmm!!!
This place was great! Service was excellent. I really like the ambiance. We both ordered a plate with one empanada with a side salad. And John ordered one extra empanada. For me, the one empanada with salad was plenty. I got the chicken cilantro and it was delicious! Moist, flavorful and the pastry was great. I tried a bite of John's with beef and that one was good as well. Neither of us enjoyed the breakfast one was much though. It had chorizo, egg and potato and it was dry. Next time we'll try the sweet/dessert empanada. My only negative is that I really wish they had a menu board on the wall. I think it's necessary in a place like that.
Great place to experience and taste Peruvian style empanadas and coffees for a quick bite either breakfast or light lunch. Service is good as well. Isn't life fun when you discover food places of interest accidentally? This is what happened to us with BAE empanadas. We ordered three types of their empanadas to try: Chorizo, Eggs and Potatoes, Bacon and Eggs and their Beef one that we still have to eat. Firstly, the size of the empanadas are large compared to a lot of other empanadas places we have tried. The fillings are generous and delicious! The crust is light and flaky not thick and doughy! We were just saying that we're definitely going to make this a "go to" place whenever we're in the Campbell area. Very clean little restaurant and great service!
Awesome variety of empanadas! They have breakfast, traditional, and dessert (something I haven't seen anywhere else)! My mom and I went and wanted to try a variety so we got the potato and egg, traditional beef, chicken mushroom, and raspberry cream cheese all to share. She liked them so much that she went back the next day and got another raspberry one, a pork one, and some frozen ones to eat later. Though I just got a small bite of the pork one, it was one of my favorites. I also really liked the traditional beef with the chimichurri, and the raspberry cream cheese - it reminded me of a toaster strudel. The empanadas were very reasonably priced and a pretty filling, we spent around $35 including tax and tip and we both left very full!
A few years back I was on a major empanada kick. Unfortunately for me, I wasn't able to really fulfill those cravings at any particular business. It's like an unobtainable quest but whenever I have the chance to fill that empty void, I do so by randomly sampling. So what makes a good empanada? To me, I look for a buttery and flaky outer shell. This should not be overly oily or dense. The dough ratio should not overpower the filling and the empanada should be able to hold the stuffed contents well. I personally gravitate towards savory fillings which should be moist but not soggy. These can be purchases as is or served with sides, turning the item into a full blown meal. There are 4 different salads available for those who want a healthier alternative. As a quick snack and first attempt of trying out BAE, my sister and I made the purchase of: *Mango Tropical Shaker *Chicken & Mushroom Empanada *Traditional Beef Empanada *Argentinian Chimichurry Sauce The empanadas are amazing when it comes to the dough standpoint. Bae has the recipe down to a T and will make even the toughest eater a fan! The chicken and mushroom empanada was exceptionally delicious- creamy, flavorful, and very tasty. I would have easily grabbed another if we didn't already have plans for our next bite. The traditional beef empanada was good but the raisins totally threw me off. The plump, overly sweet raisins weren't a good combo with the salty olives according to my tastebuds. Again, this was still very doable but I made sure to remove each raisin I came across. The mango tropical shaker was okay, just a little too sweet for me. 5/5 stars for BAE's empanadas. I eagerly look forward to trying the panzerotto [pizza], chorizo, and assorted breakfast empanadas. Parking is disastrously busy so come here with patience- it'll be worth all the hassle. I promise! read more

They have a good variety of Peruvian empanadas and the place smelled really good. My boyfriend and I shared the Beef, Lomo Satado, and the Peach Blueberry! The flavors in both the Beef and Lomo was perfect with the seasoning and what was surprising is the Mango Chutney which made it even more tastier; it had a sweet but tangy profile. I've had Best Artisan Empanada bookmarked for awhile and finally was able to check them out. A nice yet simply decorated cafe with spacious room. You can sit down and relax at tables. Two unisex restrooms (though one was currently Out of Order). They have an IG Photo op there. The service was welcoming and very friendly especially from DeAnthony. He recommended some popular empanadas and leaned towards the Tropical Mango Shaker. Beef Signature Peruvian Empanada: Crafted with care and generations of tradition. Tender, lean beef, sautéed onions, kalamata olives, and sweet raisins, all enveloped in their original, family-recipe dough. This is the empanada that started it all. Chimichurri (extra $.50): Argentinian Chimichurri sauce is made from fresh herbs, olive oil, red wine vinegar, and garlic. Tropical Mango Shaker - mango juice muddled with mint. Amazing as always! We promise to return to this place each time we are back in the South Bay. Among their breakfast empanadas my most favorite is the Potato Egg and Cheese while the better half loves the Chorizo Egg and Cheese. We both shared half of each so as to not overeat. And the Spicy Mango chutney is to die for! We also loved Rokoto sauce made from Peruvian Rokoto peppers and aromatic herbs Service is courteous and friendly as always. And the ambience is the quiet and peaceful to start a lazy weekend morning. read more

Randomly dropped into this shop and so glad I did. I didn't know that this place was fairly new. It's located in a small strip mall with a Pilates studio, a Mexican restaurant, and bagel shop. Inside the shop, there's a glass case showing the different empanadas. There are table tops and chairs for seating then there were these cute nooks to replicate Peruvian street seating. The selection of empanadas was impressive. There were even sweet ones. I ordered the spinach and ricotta empanada as a lunch which came with a salad. And then ordered a peach and blueberry empanada to go. These are huge so one is great for a meal. The empanadas have a thin crust and eating one didn't feel heavy and you actually can taste the filling. I chose the Santa Fe Salad and the Tzaziki sauce to go with a spinach and ricotta empanada. The sauce was recommended by the cashier. It went perfect with my empanada. I want to come back to see what they do with the additional decor and nooks. Also to try different types of empanadas. The peach and blueberry empanada was delicious later after dinner. read more

I discovered this bakery cafe when picking up Bloom Bagels in the same plaza. A friend and I were probably the first customers when they opened for the day. The place is spacious with hints of Peruvian decor. They display some of the empanadas in their case but check out the menu for all their options. The helpful employee pointed out the higher pricing indicated a meal option (plus potatoes or salad & sauce) but everything could be a la carte. They offer both savory & sweet options! *Egg, Potato, & Cheese *Spinach & Cheese *Peach Blueberry *Raspberry Cream Cheese *Argentinian Chimichurri Dip They heat them fresh once ordered so it'll take at least 10 minutes. I was abstaining from meat the day we went so I didn't get to try Lomo Saltado beef, will get that next time! Egg, potato, & cheese was so loaded I thought it had meat in it! Excellent with the chimichurri dip (50 cents extra). Spinach with ricotta was pretty good. Peach Blueberry, who that? Sweet chunks of warm fruit enveloped by a classic doughy crust. Definitely my favorite sweet empanada. The raspberry cream cheese was kind of a let down since I expected raspberry preserves swirled with cream cheese instead of it already mixed together. I love this place, best empanadas I've ever had. So many different options and they got great drinks too. Coffee is strong but good. Ambient is great to eat there. Perfect place for a lunch date. They got breakfast ones and lunch ones too. Get there early they sell out fast. The Lomo is my favorite and the panzerotto too. Get the Mango chutney sauce is fire but spicy to go with it too. read more
Honestly, we wanted a place to sit and eat our Bloom bagels. But they have a rule of no outside food which is fair. Anyhow, I wanted to eat some protein for breakfast and the traditional beef empanadas looked yummy. I liked how the pastry skin is thin so the fillings can be the main deal. The beef was chopped up, not grounded, so it retained its texture. It also had complex flavors of sweet raisins and sour olives with the savory beef and onions. We paired it with a nice hot mocha. Best Artisan Empanadas (aka bae) is devoted to empanadas but they do have a coffee bar. The place seemed clean but we only took the food to go. The service is fast and friendly. The empanadas were heated and bagged in about 5 minutes. The chicken and mushroom empanada was really good with a generous amount of filling. The pastry was also flavorful and flaky. The peach and blueberry empanada was just ok. It was sweet and syrupy like the fruit came out of a can. I think the savory ones are better. read more

Friendly staff welcomed us with useful info on the popular choices and sauce pairings. We tried the Traditional Peruvian & Chimichurri sauce, Chicken with Mushrooms & Spicy sauce. Chicken with Mushrooms was our favorite and don't think it needed any sauce. The Empanada crust was of top quality with right amount of flakiness. Also enjoyed the Raspberry and Cream Cheese empanada for dessert. Recommend Taro Steamer to pair with their Sweet Empanada offerings. The interiors are beautifully designed giving off a vibe of outdoor cafe in South America. Location is fantastic, beside the Campbell Park and strip mall with gym studios. read more
Damn, I was trying really hard to not like this place because Milohas nearby also sells empanadas and theirs are cheaper and really good. However other than price point (which isn't horrendous at $9 for 1 empanada, but wish it was a bit lower), I could find no faults. The chicken and mushroom empanada was amazing! Super flavorful, almost getting some Italian feel from this. The chimichurri sauce was really nicely done. The olive oil that bathes the herbs has a great but subtle flavor while the herbs pack a strong flavor punch. It is going to be difficult to determine where to go between here and Milohas the next time I am having an empanada craving. I am split down the middle at this point. No, we don't use animal fat for our dough, we want to make sure that we use the best choice possible to make every one of our dishes, there are really good substitutes for animal fat to incorporate in our dishes, including our dough, we use…

They currently do not, but they are hoping to make a recipe for gluten-free empanadas in the future.
Do you have vegan options?
We do not have vegan options yet other than our salads as far as food, but in the near future, we will be working on creating a vegan empanada.
