Super yummy and fresh!! The workers there are also very nice. Definitely my go-to churro spot! I usually get two churros for $8 (sometimes there may be extra ) and they are a very good size! If you fridge and airfry them for later they're still very good. The parking lot is also very big.

The churros were not too oily and were perfectly crunchy with lots of options for toppings. Only downside was the long wait time.

Loved these empanadas. This was my first place to eat in San Jose being there recently on a work…read moretrip. I had the chicken empanada combo with a little salad, and a guanabana juice. Loved everything and loved how recharged I felt after my flight. I immediately made plans to come back here before leaving town to bring empanadas to enjoy with my husband. I stopped here again on my way to the airport, got 6 empanadas to go and told the ladies I was flying with them, they were so sweet and wrote what empanada was in the paper bags for each so I could identify them easily. They also wrote heating instructions for me, and went as far as packing them nicely in plastic wrap, and they made it home safe. I had saved space in my carry-on backback to make sure I had space for these, it paid off. My favorite empanadas were the beef, chicken and the ham and cheese (omg what cheese was that?! So yummy!!!), I took some other flavors, we loved them all but honestly when I go back these are the repeats for me. The size of the large empanadas is very generous, and the protein with potato empanadas are worth the try and even though they are smaller, they are still super worth it. Loved it all

It's basically a bakery-like store that has a wonderful selection of Colombian style empanadas and colclos (so?). They also have some delicious looking flans and a few other items. Need to go back and try more. The chicken large empanada and Hawaiian empanada I had were both amazing. Limited beverage selection, unfortunately. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.

I thought it would be hard to search Mexican restaurants one by one to pick out the ones that serve empanadas; I was wrong. One easy search and BAE pops up. I was very happy to arrive at a private parking lot instead of looking for street parking or desperately searching for a parking structure. BAE is clean, organized, and neat; the interior is more like a cafe than a messy mom-and-pop restaurant. The empanadas are clearly displayed on the cashier's side, each with a label underneath. There are corners decorated for selfies or simply a good mood cheering. Overall, it's visually appealing. We ordered the Chicken and Mushroom, Potato Egg and Cheese, and Bacon Egg and Cheese. The cashier was polite and offered us some sauce choices. They are $0.5 each. We chose Tsatziki which has Greek yogurt, cucumber, garlic, olive oil and dill. It wasn't our cup of tea. We chose take out and each empanada was nicely warmed, wrapped and clearly labeled in each paper. The empanadas I would rate them in this order: potato egg and cheese, chicken mushroom, bacon egg and cheese. The Potato Egg and Cheese has diced onions inside, but it's soft and warm, very balanced in flavor and texture. Top notch comfort food. The Chicken and Mushroom filling was creamier than I thought. I was not expecting a white cream cheese element in it, nevertheless, chunky chicken and mushroom slices are solid. I was most disappointed at Bacon Egg and Cheese. It was too salty and the egg looked and tasted like those overcooked dry breakfast eggs from Comfort Inn breakfast where it came out from some kind of liquid egg box. In summary, location, service, interior 4 star; food 3.5 stars.

There is street parking & garage parking nearby, but it is a bit difficult to find a good, free, public parking spot close by. The shop itself wasn't too busy, with plenty of seating both inside and outside. Their menu is mostly empanadas, paletas, and an assortment of drinks. I'm impressed at the variety of empanadas they offer--there are many vegetarian options and sweet options, which I haven't encountered before. They are displayed by the counter and reheated for you in one of those rapid-cook ovens you see in coffee shops. The service was quite good; the cashier was patient with me as I decided what to order, and the food and drink comes out quickly after ordering. I took my order to-go; they didn't provide a bag, but they did stash the empanada in one of those little thin wax-paper sleeves. The empanada itself was pretty good. The reheating did leave the crust a little soggy from the moisture of the filling, but the flakiness of the pastry was still detectable, and it still had a bit of crisp to it. The flavors were great, and they were pretty generous with the cheese. The horchata latte was okay--ultimately, I don't think the coffee was strong enough, and I'd rather have just a latte or just a horchata. Overall, I think it's a pretty decent place if you're looking for a quick bite. I frequent the area for other events, and the empanada makes for a good on-the-go snack. I intend to try more of their vegetarian (and maybe their sweet) empanadas in the future!

Our server was very nice and had great recommendations on what we should try for our first most authentic experience. We got the Tequenos (Cheese Sticks) as a starter and they were great dipped in the house sauce that came with it (a garlic sauce). For our entrees I got the Arepas Pabellon (Shredded beef, Sweet Plantains & Cheese minus the Black Beans) and my husband got the Arepa Cochinita (Shredded Pork, Lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese & house sauce). Both arepas were amazing, full of flavor and delicious. The meat is tender and flavorful. I highly recommend the beef. My husband said the pork was a little too salty but if you like salted meat you'll be fine (we are low sodium so a lot of things are too salty to us). The restaurant is a cozy size, clean and was decorated with lots of soccer stuff as we came during the FIFA World Cup. This place was amazing, very satisfying meal and highly recommended! We will definitely be back soon!
