    2 Pupusa Plate
    James L.

I've never had pupusas before, but I really wanted to try it. I happened to come across this food truck outside of Santa Clara Valley Hospital, so I got the 2 pupusa plate for$10. I got a Bean and Cheese Pupusa, and a Carne Asada Pupusa. It came with Curtido, which is pickled veggies, and I got the spicy salsa. The bean and Cheese pupusa was good, but it didn't have much filling, and it was mostly beans with a tiny bit of beans. Most of the flavor came from the curtido and salsa. I don't know how the Carne Asada with cheese pupusa is like because they ended up giving me 2 bean and cheese pupusas, and I wasn't near the truck when I found out. The food was hot and they make it to order so it's fresh, but I don't think I'd try them again.

First time trying pupusa and this place was so good! The service was fast and the ambiance was great. The salsa and the salad was a great combination with the pupusa. The pork beans and cheese is the best one. I the mushroom and cheese was good too but the mushroom made the pupusa a little soggy. Overall will definitely order again!

I tried the steak and chicken pasteles (empanada-like snacks) and it was pretty good. The shells tasted just like the corn tortillas typically used to wrap enchiladas, and the meat inside both was juicy with good flavor, not too outstanding, but not bland. And it went perfectly with the same fresh and delicious salsa and curtido that comes with the pupusas. The staff provided standard service and my order took no more than 10 minutes to be ready. They have covered outdoor seating, but I took my order to go and it was packed nicely, hot and ready to eat. Parking was easy as there's 2-3 food trucks in this plaza that share a lot with other businesses, and Pupusa Time is right next to the Alliance gas station. I'd return, but next time I'm trying the pupusas!

Pupusa - Chicharron and Pollo con queso

Been driving past this food truck many times as we like getting Kona Island Coffee in the same parking lot around the corner and noticed this place always has people there. SO decided to give them a try and I'm SO GLAD we did!!! Got the 2 Pupusa plate - the Chicharron and Polo Con Queso. HIGHLY recommend especially with the pickled cabbage and we added the mild salsa! It was SO GOOD... not as stuffed as I'm used to but still had tons of flavor!! Our FAVORITE is the enchilada pollo combo! OMG - SO good! Keep in mind this is a Salvadoran enchilada - not your mexican type enchilada that sits on a masa disk. It was cruncy, meaty, with so much flavor - again - adding the cruncy cabbage and the salsa - a flavor and texture bomb. AND their rice and beans had lots of flavor as well - beans - so creamy and deep flavor - rice so fluffy and light! We also decided to try their pasteles asada - which are like little fried empanadas! Crispy, crunchy and lots of meat!! So good... And of course our all time favorite which it's only available at Salvadorian places - their plantanos con frijol y creama - which is the plantanos with creamy beans and their creama... The most DELICIOUS bite!! This is our family all time favorite and I'm so happy they have it and they are so close by!! Will definitely be coming back and trying other meats and dishes. Want to try their plantano empanada - more sweet than savory!! :) OH and service - the guy taking our order was so patient - explaining all the dishes - and it was all packed up nicely and he repeats the order when he hands it to you so you feel confident you're getting everything!!

Omg... where has this been all my life?! Had to come try this truck since I was in the area and the recent reviews were good. This place is amazing. I tried a few items and will rate them each: Chicken enchiladas salvadoreñas 10/10-my fave! Bean and cheese pupusa 8/10 Chicken empanadas 10/10 Beans and plantains plate 9/10 Horchata 9/10 (See pics for reference) Don't sleep on this place, it's truly amazing.

Pretty good pupusas! I have passed by this truck so many times and never gave it much thought until another mom recently mentioned it on fb. My friend and I decided to try it out for lunch on Wednesday since she was craving some pupusas. We arrived around 11:30. There was no line when we arrived, so we took our time looking at the menu. We finally settled on: Revueltas pupusas: 4/5 very tasty, be sure to add all the toppings! Carne pupusas: 3/5 the one above is better, trust me. Enchiladas frijoles: 4/5 yummy crunchy fried flat shell with refried beans slathered on top. Yum! And we got some to go too: Same as above and Pasteles pollo: 4/5 yum! The outside is similar to the shell of the enchilada, and the chicken filling was tasty. Highly recommend this. Friendly service. It did take a while to get our food as they make it when you order it. So I will remember to order ahead next time. There were a few tables in the shade if you want to eat there. So glad I tried this place. Will be coming back!

The food is amazing and I stumbled upon this place thru doordash. The service is always so fast and fresh! The papusas are small and thin but hearty! I absolutely love these and highly recommend!

They are located across from Fremont High school behind the gas station. It is a bright blue and green food truck with a big window so you can watch them prepare all of your delicious pupusas :] There is a small parking lot with easy parking in front of them. They have soo many options for pupusas! They also offer different food options too like platanos and flautas. They have a normal menu and daily specials as well! We were excited to try some of their different offerings. We came 20 min before they closed on a Thurs-- wait was 15 min with no one else, but I think they might have had some phone orders. We ordered: Chicharron with cheese Pupusa Revueltas Pupusa - lots of beans Spinach and cheese Pupusa - healthier option Garlic amd cheese Pupusa - big pieces of garlic and you can smell it! (I love garlic though haha). This one was our favorite. Platanos with condensed milk - make sure you mix the condensed milk before eating. This was okay, not too sweet. They write the names of the pupusas on foil covered plates so you know which ones are which. Comes with pickled vegetables and salsa (Mild or spicy). We got the mild salsa. Come try them-- it's Pupusa Time!

My previous coworker used to make pupusas and that was one of the first times I've tried it. It was SO good and I've been craving it ever since then. Not many Salvadoran food trucks around this area and F I N A L L Y NOT in San Jose! I looked up pupusas on yelp and found this gem in Sunnyvale! Ordered 1 chicharron, 2 beans, 3 cheese pupusas. My favorite one was the cheese. !!ATTENTION CHEESE LOVERS, they were not skimpy with the cheese!! Oooohh, burnt cheese on the edges too. Delicious. Can't have pupusas without curtido (pickled "slaw" cabbage/carrot/jalapeno etc..) THIS! Made everything came together. I could eat this by itself honestly lol they give you a good amount of it too but I would like extra next time because it's that good! Looks like a family owned business and the amount of care goes into each pupusa is amazing. SOLD! & SUPPORT! Even some leftovers, it's still really good when you heat it on the pan to make it crispy. Can't wait to come back!

Jalapeño cheese, Revueltas - 2 Pupusa plate
    LH V.

Falafel stop was closed on a Wednesday, so we went across the street to try out this place. The pupusas were a good size, the jalapeño cheese one was really good. The rice tasted amazing, full of flavor and of fluffy texture. Everything was really good. I tried the Salvadoran Horchata, it was nutty and creamy, tasted pretty good. They even had tables outside for you to sit. It looks like it belongs to the Indian Biryani place but you can actually sit there in the shade. It was a great lunch!

Plaranos fritos with lechera didn't have any lechera. Instead, had a big scoop of oil and gross.
    Miriam J.

Not lechera on platanos con lechera instead a big scoop of oil. This was absolutely disgusting

This spot is amazing for some authentic Salvadorian pupusas!! I looked up pupusas , since I was craving some good pupusas! I have a spot I usually go to, but this popped up on my yelp search. I decided to give it a try! I ordered 4 pupusas, one chicharron, one pollo, one jalapeño/frijol and one queso/frijol. The wait time was minimal, since they are hand made it's definitely worth the wait. Service was really pleasant and they are super nice! When I ate my pupusas, which by the way 4 is A LOT, they tasted soooo good! The fresh hand made masa and fresh stuffed ingredients tasted so filling and good. The recorto (pickled veggies) added that crisp bite in every mouthful! I defined recommend going to this spot! It is a good truck so you most likely will take it to go, they also have a table there to sit and enjoy them hot if it's not full. The food truck is located in a large parking lot, so plenty of space to park. The price is very reasonable and I definitely will be going again!

I've been on a mission to find very authentic Salvadorian pupusas in the Bay Area and that led me to pupusa time food truck. I went there thinking that the pupusas costed $3.75 but once I got there they were $4.75. One single pupusa for almost $5! I decided to bite the bullet and get one pupusa and some plantain empanadas because the reviews were few but they were really good throughout. The wait time was short so that was great especially because I was hungry. Unfortunately the only thing I really liked was the curtido. The empanadas de plátano were oily and it tasted like the plátanos weren't ripped enough given it an odd texture and almost bitter flavor. The pupusa was pretty small for the price, there was an uneven ratio of cheese and pork and it wasn't seasoned enough. I had high hopes but considering the size, flavor and price of everything I was sadly let down.

The platter includes one pupusa of your choice, one pastelito, one chicken tamal, one corn tamal, fried yuca with chicharron, one empanada, plantains, sour cream, pickled cabbage, and pickled red onions. I chose the pork, bean, and cheese pupusa, which ended up being one of my favorite items. It tasted authentic with great tortilla texture and flavor. The pastelito was nice and crispy. The chicken tamal was good and similar to a Mexican tamale, but with a softer masa. The corn tamal was sweet and tasted like a cornbread muffin. The fried yuca was good and had a similar texture to potatoes. The chicharron was okay and was a bit bland. The empanada was more of a dessert, as it was sweet with a custard-like filling. The plantains were cooked perfectly and had a nice balanced of sweetness. Also ordered one pupusa with pork and cheese. Personally, I prefer the version that includes beans, but this one was still worth trying. The sopa de pata is a cow feet soup that includes cabbage, carrots, tripe, and yuca, served with tortilla, dried chili peppers, and dried oregano on the side. The broth was flavorful, but there were a lot of vegetables. The cow feet did not have a lot of tendon, so it was basically two pieces of bone that took up a lot of space in the bowl. The tripe was soft, and I like how it was prepared well without any unpleasant smell. The horchata Salvadoreña was refreshing, but okay. Plenty of parking. Customer service was good, and both the waitress and kitchen staff were friendly and welcoming. The indoor dining is small and can fit about 20 to 25 people. Overall, this is a solid spot for Salvadoran food!

I tried the popular baleada, which is a home-made flour tortilla filled with a layer of mashed red beans, queso fresco, eggs and with or without meat (I got it with carne asada). The flour tortilla was just as other described - soft, buttery smooth, almost melt in your mouth goodness. The carne asada was dry and hard so I could've gone without. I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. You could tell that they were regulars. The space was intimate with around 10-15 tables seating about 4 people each. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!
