Came here for dinner to catch up with a friend. She loves this place, and vouched for this, while this was my first time. I had a chalafajita, which was very filling and fresh, and a great source of protein with beef and shrimp. Great hole in the wall for delicious Salvadoran and Mexican food.

I have been to their Mountain View location and absolutely love the taco Tuesday deal. You can order five tacos for $10! That's an insanely great deal and so hard to find nowadays in the South Bay. I love the fact that there's a location which closer to me that I can dig in right off Camden Avenue. They offer 10 different protein options and if you don't know the names of the meats, you can just ask the staff and they can tell you which one is which. My favorites are the carne asada which is the steak and the al pastor which is the marinated pork. Both comes loaded with lots of meat, onions, cilantro and some limes. They also bring out chips and different salsas to dip. It's a no frills place and that even offer a $10 burrito deal on Mondays which I haven't tried yet. I will definitely be coming back for their Taco Tuesday deals and I absolutely love tacos!

Shrimp Ceviche

My go to meals here are the Ceviches, Papusas & Tacos... Always flavorful and served with great presentation which is always appreciated! It's not just for looks, the food tastes fantastic and I feel like it gets better and better every time we dine here. On this day I had the shrimp ceviche and it was made perfectly! Lots of flavor, topped with fresh avacado with a side of lime, chips and crackers make it perfect! Everything fresh, fresh, fresh! If you're on this side of town (Camden & Union in San Jose) stop in for a great meal and friendly service! We will be back!

How sad this place has a great food but the service is terrible chips and salsa is leaking out of cup Manager of this place need to training their employees how to take a care of their customers 7-21-25 10:40 am I was trying to order hot chocolate and burrito I ask nicely question how is your hot chocolate ? And burrito what kind meat is good here ? She was like I don't know ‍ Seems like a she not familiar with the restaurant what she's selling

Torta (carne asada) small

Small hole in the wall, staff is always friendly. My go to is their torta with carne asada. I've been on a mission to find the best torta in San Jose; and so far I haven't found any place that beats this! It's so big and the bread is soft and it always has the right amount of spice and flavor. I haven't tried anything else; but for tortas- they can't be beat

We ordered the carne asada, tripa, pollo, and chorizo. My favorite was the tripe, then the carne asada, then chorizo and chicken, in that order. The tripe was so good! Next time I'd love to try the lengua and cabeza and al pastor. The tacos are 5 for $10 on Tuesdays so I recommend you come on Tuesday if you want tacos. There is indoor seating and a couple outdoor tables as well. They also currently have someone cooking outside. The food come with complimentary chips and salsa. The tacos came with onion and cilantro on top, and the sides of grilled onion, lime, cucumber, and radish. My only gripe was that the floor was pretty dirty with trash on the floor - napkins, water bottles, wrappers, etc, and was not being cleaned. The menus also were a little sticky/worn and have no prices on them, so it's difficult to order if I don't know how much stuff is.

Quesabirria Tacos so Yummy
Sunnyvale Review S.

Walked in for a late lunch yesterday around 4pm. They had menu's stacked on the counter and the first thing I noticed was their menu was very large. The second thing I noticed was that their menu's had no prices. It took quite a long time to decide what to have for lunch. I finally pulled the trigger on their Quesabirria taco's. I sat in their dining room which was very clean and was brought chips, salsa, and a water while I waited. The food was so delicious. If You have never had these, they are cheese fried tacos with a generous amount of cheese and meat in each taco. The dipping sauce along with the orange-colored sauce provided was delicious. I would highly recommend this dish and will plan to go back soon. 5 stars for presentation & staff. Thank you ...

My favorite was the calabaza but the others were also good Bought the favorite parillada salvadorean That is extremely good. Meat was cooked perfect and with perfect seasoning. Was not over salted Beans and rice mixed was also perfect. Was not over salted like other places I usually dont like Sunnyside up eggs but it was good The small plátanos crispy with nice sweet flavors Definitely recommend!! The platter includes one pupusa of your choice, one pastelito, one chicken tamal, one corn tamal, fried yuca with chicharron, one empanada, plantains, sour cream, pickled cabbage, and pickled red onions. I chose the pork, bean, and cheese pupusa, which ended up being one of my favorite items. It tasted authentic with great tortilla texture and flavor. The pastelito was nice and crispy. The chicken tamal was good and similar to a Mexican tamale, but with a softer masa. The corn tamal was sweet and tasted like a cornbread muffin. The fried yuca was good and had a similar texture to potatoes. The chicharron was okay and was a bit bland. The empanada was more of a dessert, as it was sweet with a custard-like filling. The plantains were cooked perfectly and had a nice balanced of sweetness. Also ordered one pupusa with pork and cheese. Personally, I prefer the version that includes beans, but this one was still worth trying. The sopa de pata is a cow feet soup that includes cabbage, carrots, tripe, and yuca, served with tortilla, dried chili peppers, and dried oregano on the side. The broth was flavorful, but there were a lot of vegetables. The cow feet did not have a lot of tendon, so it was basically two pieces of bone that took up a lot of space in the bowl. The tripe was soft, and I like how it was prepared well without any unpleasant smell. The horchata Salvadoreña was refreshing, but okay. Plenty of parking. Customer service was good, and both the waitress and kitchen staff were friendly and welcoming. The indoor dining is small and can fit about 20 to 25 people. Overall, this is a solid spot for Salvadoran food!

I tried the popular baleada, which is a home-made flour tortilla filled with a layer of mashed red beans, queso fresco, eggs and with or without meat (I got it with carne asada). The flour tortilla was just as other described - soft, buttery smooth, almost melt in your mouth goodness. The carne asada was dry and hard so I could've gone without. I bet a braised beef like barbacoa would've been perfect for this item. It also came with salsa and I selected mild which gave it a nice bright flavor. I also ordered a chicken tamale (they also offer pork) and I was surprised to find a whole chicken wing (no skin) stuffed into the tamale! I broke into it using a fork and hit something hard which turned out to be the bones. But honestly, this was one of the best tamales I've tried in a long time. Flavorful, moist, and a nice sized portion. It came wrapped in what I think was banana leaf. The service was fast on a Wednesday night and there were a handful of friendly patrons seated nearby. You could tell that they were regulars. The space was intimate with around 10-15 tables seating about 4 people each. Maya's Cafe menu has a wide assortment of dishes to choose from: serving breakfast dishes like chilaquiles, lunch items such as burritos, or soups and full on dinner plates with rice, beans, and choice of protein. There's even more selection and the whole menu is in Spanish so I'll be sure to use Google Translate next time!

Both with the curtido is the best I have ever had. It is super crunchy and fresh and not too vinegary. The pupusas are so toasty on the inside and very large with lots of filling. They said it wasn't the same kind of cheese, and the meat wasn't very seasoned. Other than that, they're pretty decent. I probably won't go back again, but they're not bad. Just, they're not just what we're used to. A little bit more flavor, a little cheesier. Not as much filling as we're used to. It's like an unobtainable quest but whenever I have the chance to fill that empty void, I do so by randomly sampling. So what makes a good empanada? To me, I look for a buttery and flaky outer shell. This should not be overly oily or dense. The dough ratio should not overpower the filling and the empanada should be able to hold the stuffed contents well. I personally gravitate towards savory fillings which should be moist but not soggy. Best Artisan Empanadas menu offers a long list of drinks ranging from espresso, teas, lattes, frappes, smoothies, and alcoholic drinks. The empanadas come in savory and sweet options. These can be purchases as is or served with sides, turning the item into a full blown meal. There are 4 different salads available for those who want a healthier alternative. As a quick snack and first attempt of trying out BAE, my sister and I made the purchase of: *Mango Tropical Shaker *Chicken & Mushroom Empanada *Traditional Beef Empanada *Argentinian Chimichurry Sauce The empanadas are amazing when it comes to the dough standpoint. Bae has the recipe down to a T and will make even the toughest eater a fan! The chicken and mushroom empanada was exceptionally delicious- creamy, flavorful, and very tasty. I would have easily grabbed another if we didn't already have plans for our next bite. The traditional beef empanada was good but the raisins totally threw me off. The plump, overly sweet raisins weren't a good combo with the salty olives according to my tastebuds. Again, this was still very doable but I made sure to remove each raisin I came across. The mango tropical shaker was okay, just a little too sweet for me. 5/5 stars for BAE's empanadas. I eagerly look forward to trying the panzerotto [pizza], chorizo, and assorted breakfast empanadas. Parking is disastrously busy so come here with patience- it'll be worth all the hassle. I promise!

The flavors in both the Beef and Lomo was perfect with the seasoning and what was surprising is the Mango Chutney which made it even more tastier; it had a sweet but tangy profile. The peach and blueberry as a sweet treat was a perfect close out to our lunch.
