I have driven past this unassuming lil spot on the Story Rd corridor for years. Finally had a chance to stop by and samps some local grinds... Upon entering I see the clientele is mostly Paisas which is a good sign. Ordered few different tacos to try the meats: Asada, Carnitas, Cabeza. The Cabeza stood out as it was super tender with bits o fatty chunks in there! You get chips n salsa as you get seated along with menus from the waitstaff in uniform. Michelada was on the lighter side and the Horchata was nice. A very good solid spot if you're in the area! read more

Today I came into the restaurant to eat and accidentally left my wallet on my chair. I didn't realize it was missing until about two hours later. I was very nervous because I couldn't find it in my car, so I called the restaurant and spoke with the same kind lady who had originally helped me. She was able to locate my wallet, and when I returned to pick it up, she handed it back to me exactly as I had left it. This speaks volumes about the honesty and character of the staff. I was incredibly relieved that it was found. I'm so thankful for everyone at this restaurant, not only for your tasty food and service, but also for your kindness and integrity. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend this place! read more

Lots of parking outside and near to a kid's playground made it an easy choice for us after the kid was done playing. Deducting 1 star for being - CASH only!! Thank god we had some :) In $32, we got: - wet chicken burrito - 5/5 - too good! The taste was authentic and chicken was tender and flavorful. Most recommended! - 3 taco - 4/5 - chicken, pork, beef - decent - refreshing lemon drink - sauces were good :) Definitely get the cash!! That is all :) its a quick bite so if u overstay/ relax and eat slowly - u might get the eyes haha :) read more

This place is like going into grandma's house. They're so friendly. It feels like family. I've been visiting since 2013, though I haven't been for a while since I don't have a car normally. The dear lady who took my order has been there almost 30 years. Isn't that amazing? I ordered agua de piña and two tacos de pescado. She asked me if I wanted everything and mentioned that mayonesa was an ingredient and we went over the sauces that other places have and I ended up with green salsa, and rice. They arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and everything was as perfect as possible. Everything is always clean. The only drawback is that they only accept cash, but they have an available ATM. Prices are still reasonable. Isn't that amazing? read more

Want to always try different taco spots so decided to try tacos autlense, it was not that made. I always go for the flavor of the meat and tortilla. In my opinion it was a good option and nice to give them a try at least once but there is so much competition out there in the taco world that I would just give them 3 stars. Nothing really gave me the wow factor but they had good customer service and the food came out quick read more

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants! Prices are great, service is quick and friendly, and food is delicious. This place is open late, cash only, and self seating. Everything I've had has been pretty good but my go-to is the wet burrito with green sauce. This thing is HUGE and lasts me 3 meals. Aside from that, I normally go for their plates. I feel like everything here is pretty yummy. read more

Had a beef super burrito and it was meh... here what not good- !. One end filled with refried beans only. First 1/4 i ate was all refried beans. 2. The beef was dry 3. The rice was mushy 4. You get one salaa that was somewhat spucy and it was ok, but you definitely need some salsa to be able to eat this burrito. Akso, Any addutonal sauce will coat you 0.25 cents more. Will not come back. read more

I understand maybe the in-house service quality from the staff might not be the best but....thats why I recommend to get the food for pickup!!! Take it to go and enjoy it in the car, or at home! I will stand on this...the food is lowkey fire! Burritos are probably the biggest heaviest burritos that I have eaten in San Jose in recent years and the food is really well seasoned! The rice is delicious and the meats is good! Solid red salsa too! If you've got a super huge appetite and need a dense oversized burrito that's the size of your head, a burrito that puts most other places to shame when it comes to comparison of portions. I urge you to try this spot. read more

the Mexican food here is very solid. It is hard to put into words but this is the style of Mexican food I grew up with in San Jose. nothing fancy but good flavors and large portions. the food here isn't amazing but it is good and has that classic old world feel. read more

Stumbled upon this place after going next door for some banh mi. While on my way to my original destination, I heard a couple saying this was their go to place for some good Mexican food and it was their comfort food, and I was intrigued. Fast forward I was ordering other food and waiting in line right outside when the smells from this restaurant were enticing me to just try some. The smells were enough to persuade me because next thing I knew, I was ordering a cabeza taco, lengua taco, and a chicken tamale. After taking it to go and tasting it at home, I now understood the couple I had overheard. The tacos were so good and the meats were moist. The tamale was good as well. I feel like good tamales arent as accessible in the area, so I was pleasantly surprised. I can't wait to go back for more! Note - cash only read more

Went here after going to Happy Hollow Zoo because they were close by. First thing we noticed was the Cash Only sign but fortunately we had cash on us. It's very clean and the seats are comfortable. Got our food quickly. We shared a taco and chicken burrito. We loved the chicken burrito. Really good and it was huge! Very reasonable prices. Very friendly staff too. Dropped one star because the chips weren't great but otherwise everything else was. read more

Everything homemade with a twist. Coffee: has cinnammon in it. Very distinct. Maybe some chocolate or chicory also. Tacos: 3.50-4$. Filled with meat. Good tacos but hard to compete with the 4$ sandwiches next door. Enchiladas homemade with sauce made from chili powder. Spicy and deep chili earthy flavor. read more

No signs that say cash only. Sat down to eat at the restaurant never been here before. Ordered my favorite from all other restaurants chile verde and when it came to my table the smell absolutely repulsed me. Tasted like battery acid. I politely asked that they make me something else. I asked for four ASADA tacos and received 4 al pastor tacos. Already frustrated with the service and lack of flavorful food, I hoped tacos would be safe. Boy was I wrong. Will never be returning, 40+$ for two people for a more than negative service and experience with the food. Now it's 10:43pm, I'm at home puking my guts out due to the frozen meats they serve that get reheated. read more

My go to restaurant on doordash! Food is always amazing quality and the portions are huge!

I'm so glad I finally got to try this restaurant! My friends and I were trying to find a good Mexican food spot in the area, but there were so many that it was hard to choose. Plus, being hella Mexicana myself, I feel like I can be a little picky. First, the customer service was awesome! We were immediately greeted and asked if it was dine in or to go. We chose our table, and she brought chips with salsa. She gave us ample time to look over the menu since it was our first time there. She also checked on us multiple times while we were there. Now the food was honestly so so good. The portions were HUGE. My friend got a burrito mojado de lengua which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was only able to eat half because it was so big. I got flautas de pollo. The flautas were FULL of chicken from end to end. The plate came with FOUR flautas, rice, beans, and side salad. I also got a horchata, which was good and not grainy at all. I will definitely be coming back here! read more

So my girlfriend and I stopped by to get a couple tacos one night while we were waiting for some bahn mi from the sandwich shop next door. Man I am so happy we did. We decided to return after loving the Al pastor in the tacos. This time I got a wet super burrito with the Al pastor and geezzz. I think this place might be my favorite Mexican food spot in town now. The al pastor was juicy and thick and the portions were huge. The flavors were A+. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. Pretty big menu too. 5 stars because when I asked for the food to go the gave me a paper box. Shows a lot about the establishment for not giving plastic! read more

I can't believe I've never made a review for one of my favorite places ever. I have been coming here for years since moving for college. I was very critical of the food here in the Bay because the mexican food just was not up to par with the rest of California. This place proved me wrong. They had and still have the best burrito I've ever had. Their wet burrito, or super burritos have more flavor than anything else I've had. The price is fantastic and the size of the burrito is crazy for the price. The green sauce in the burrito is the way to go. Asada and Al pastor are both amazing. I wasn't a fan of the tacos, but the burrito is so good that I don't care to eat anything else on the menu. read more

First time trying this place when I was visiting folks in the area. I ordered pickup via DoorDash and the food was ready when we arrived - pickup was perfect. I was craving caldo de res but I was also curious to try their al pastor (because I'm always on the lookout for a good al pastor) so I ordered an al pastor taco. Everything was still super-hot and fresh when I brought the food home. The toppings were put on the side so everything would stay fresh, which was perfect because I hate raw onions and it was nice to not have to pick them out. Their al pastor was nice, juicy, and flavorful. Super-generous portion for my little taco. The caldo de res hit the spot and lasted me for another 2 meals. I loved the corn in it - wished that there was more since it was such a small segment of it and I had that soup 2 more times. The flavor was good, they were very generous with the meat for the soup - I am excited to get it again. All in all, I'm glad I found another great spot to add to my list of favorite taquerias! read more

I usually for the banh mi sandwiches next door. This is only for the flan, without extra caramel sauce. Most Mexican places have flan that is too dense, hard, and is too sweet. I prefer the smoother and creamier flan style, a tad more like the Asian style flan. It was really good and not overly sweet. It could be slightly leas dense still, but overall, really good flan and worth going back again for it. read more

Cabeza tacos and chicken tamales are delicious! Portions and prices are reasonable. Service is friendly and attentive!

Great service, good prices and the super burrito was great. I got the asada and the meat and cheese portion was on point.

I had really high hopes for this place. I ordered 2 pastor, 2 carne asada tacos and of course I had to order the tacos when the name has the word tacos in it... I thought this was their speciality. It missed the mark for me. I've had some amazing tacos in the Bay Area and this just isn't a place I would be back to for tacos when there's so many more better options nearby in this neighborhood. The corn tortilla is too thick for my liking and therefore it's not a good balance of the meat and tortilla. Carne asada meat wasn't crisp on the ends like other places. Nice lady at the front, but this is THE area for Mexican food. Perhaps it's personal preference but I'm at least glad I gave it a try. read more

Family Oriented Restaurant, it's down the street from the house I've grown up & it became my parents go to when their feeling Mexican & they never disappoint, service is friendly & fast, some times they take a while but, it's also been like that since I've been coming to the restaurant, you have to flag them down when you "need" service sometimes even when it's not busy, that's probably the only for me BUT I will still go by & support because the food is fresh & yummy & it's open late night too for them after hrs folks read more

Decided to stop by and check this place out last time I came here it's been years plus we were close by and wanted a bite to eat. As we sat down to get situated waiter came over and ask for our drinks. As we were looking at the menu and decided the waiter came by and ask what we wanted to eat then the waiter had a very bad attitude the way she addressed me was pretty rude just simply because I order my son a shrimp burrito and didn't know there was different shrimp flavors she began bieng rude and just her demeanor was uncalled for. When our food was ready we got another waiter which I believe was the owner and she was very friendly and really nice. I always look for the good food pricing and how we get treated and definitely will not be coming back read more

My husband and I were killing time before an appointment and stopped in this place to grab some tacos. We each got carne asada tacos and they were delicious! They are cash only and there a few tables to sit outside right now during COVID. read more

I also ordered tacos de asada to go, which my little sister gave 7/10 (she's a very harsh critic). Over all the place was nice, food was tasty and the service was good. If I could give 0 stars I would. I ordered online on their own website and when it was ready for me to pick up they said I never placed an order. And when I showed the email the website sent me showing pretty much a receipt of my order and that I paid , they refused to give me my money back. Claiming the manager won't allow it and he's not there, but when asked for a number they refused that. Then proceeded to ask to see my bank statement to make sure I wasn't lying and when I showed it to them they still said that and the email confirmation and receipt didn't matter. Unbelievable, first time trying to go there and definitely the last time. Just taking peoples money with no shame. Scandalous. read more
