Been wanting to try this food truck. I had 4 tacos asada. The tacos are mid. The tortillas were not my fav & the asada had a lot of fat & The green salsa was super watery . I liked the grilled onions on the side & the wait time was not bad. They have a few tables to sit and eat.
What I wouldn't do for one of these tacos right now! Meat is seasoned so well and the meat is juicy and tender. We had many of their options on this latest trip and every option was amazing. We didnt have their aguas frescas this time but had them before and are always delicious. Service is fast for either take out or dine in. We loved it and try to come out at as much as we can!
My friend took me to his family's favorite taco stand in East SJ for a late Thursday night dinner. The truck is located along Story Road with a pretty big setup including salsa bar, agua fresca table, and tented seating area with lots of tables and chairs. We parked in a neighboring lot and walked up to a small line, which moved fast as the service was quick. Each of us ordered 4 tacos and a quesadilla to share and it was a decent amount of food for the price. Everything tasted great and the vibes were awesome, we sat and chilled there for quite a while. Asada: Really good smoky flavor, a little different from usual imo Al Pastor: Standard Lengua: Really nice and tender Buche: I've never had pork belly on a Mexican taco before but this was probably my favorite meat
Super yummy burrito and quesadilla! And salsas are delicious which is a cherry on top. Burrito with half asada and al pastor with no beans 9/10 this was super delicious, I'm so glad I got half al pastor it was crispy and flavorful. Their Mexican rice was one of the better ones I've had, included tons of spices and really made the burrito pack a punch Quesadilla with half asada and half al pastor 9.5/10 they really load it up with their quesadilla, I got 4 big pieces and paired with their avocado and orange sauce makes it soooo yummy. Can't forget their onions! It comes with each dish and it's a must to eat I with your meal Both came out to total ~$30. I really love the avocado and orange sauce, one of the better salsas I've had from a taco truck, can't wait to come back and try other items!
I came across a reddit post about the best tacos in the bay area, so my friends and I set out to taco hop. For our first taco hop, we visited Tacos Chencho, Tacos Montero, and Tacos Los Tres Reyes. Of the tacos we've tried, Chencho was our favoriteeee by far. The al pastor was perfectly marinated, which paired well with the bits of pineapple. I appreciated that they put some grilled onions on our plate. I enjoyed their sauce bar, too. The only thing is that parking wasn't great, BUT I did discover they have a second location on Alum Rock which does have parking! So next time, I will be going to that location :)
Taco stand in SJ. Found just randomly driving and saw a busy line in front of it. They have a heater and some tables to sit near their stall. Cash or Zelle payments only. We got tacos and a gringa. Each taco came out to around $3.20 for one and the gringa was $10.79. The horchata was $5.49. The tacos were pretty loaded with meat, onions, and cilantro. They also throw in some grilled onions on the side. Tasty protein and flavorful. They have a salsa bar with different types of salsa. The horchata had a strong condensed milk flavor. Solid taco spot but a bit pricey compared to LA street tacos.

Really solid mexican food spot. Large portion sizes. There is a small lot next to the truck. Chairs and a cover next to the truck if you want to eat outside by the truck. The onions they give you on the side are super good and delicious. They have a wide variety of cuts of meat like brisket, cheek, etc. The al pastor burrito was huge and really good. Super flavorful. You can pick your own salsas that you want from the bar. The horchata was delicious as well. They only take cash or zelle. Would come back again.
The cabeza and lengua tacos were solid. The carne asada has a nice smoky grill flavor, however, it had a strong lighter fluid taste. The saduero was also nice, however, it was a bit dry. Sauces are self serve. Cash only. Outdoor seating only. Parking is limited.
This place has multiple trucks. The one local to me is on bascom near San Carlos and let me just say that they are the real deal! Great flavor on their asada and they give you fresh sautéed onions and limes w each order. Their red salsa is some of the best in San Jose (trust me I get around ) and so are their Al pastor tacos! I'd argue that the al pastor is some of the best in all of the South Bay! Crazy take I know! Service is good although they only speak a little English and they only accept cash/zelle (all signs of a good truck lol). Location is not the best, located in a tire shop parking lot w limited seating bt the food is 100% worth it. Favorite taco spot RN!
I drive by this taco truck all the time when I'm heading home. I finally bit the bullet this taco Tuesday. I had the lengua taco, suadero taco, and a gringa. The gringa really blew me away. I love pineapple so more pineapple on my pastor taco? Hell yeah brother. The lengua and suadero tacos were also great. Their salsa bar was the real MVP, I enjoyed the orange and light green salsa. I gotta try their escabeche next time. They do have some tables to eat at, parking can be a little tricky, but you can always park across the street or temporarily in the neighborhood then walk over. CASH ONLY. But they do have a venmo for payment too. Service was fab and im glad this taco truck is close to me for those late night eat moods!
got the cabeza and al pastor tacos for about $3 each. The cabeza was really tender and delicious. Al pastor wasn't my favorite, would come back again to try all the other meats. Friendly and quick service! I got the horchata as well but the line was super long but they were able to get me to just pay really quickly in front since drinks were at a side booth.
I came to Tacos Chencho without really knowing what to expect since I had never tried it before, and I was actually pretty impressed! I got the al pastor tacos, and they were really good. I also liked that they give you grilled onions and lime on the side. We also tried the quesadillas, which were huge and had a really good serving size. We got a strawberry agua fresca and horchata as well, and both were good. Our group of six spent around $80 altogether, which I thought was pretty reasonable considering the portions and the amount of food we got. The food came out quickly too. After we ordered, I'd say it took 10 minutes or less, so we really didn't have to wait long. My only suggestion would be more seating. There were only about two tables when we went, and if other people are already sitting there, it can feel a little awkward having to share a table with people you don't know. I definitely think there's room for improvement there. Overall, for trying this place completely blind, I was really impressed. The tacos were good, the portions were generous, the food came out fast, and the price felt fair for our group. I'd definitely come back! read more
We came here looking for something new. Tacos Los Reyes and Bombero are some of our recent favorites. If it wasn't for my wife's food poisoning maybe this is 4 stars. Food (3 stars) + Tripa tacos are very delicious. Some places make these crispy. It's not here but still yummy in my tummy. ~ Burritos with carne asada and pastor is pretty good. However wifey got really sick. It's Mother's Day today and she's stuck in bed. I ate 1/4 of her burrito but I'm fine. So not sure how to rate this. Taste is pretty good. We asked for no beans so it's a bit plain but I still enjoyed it. - Gringas is like a quesadilla with pastor. It's alright but not worth $10+. I'd rather get 3 tacos! - Carne asada meat has a nice Smokey flavor. However it's jerky like toughness and a bit dry. - Someone in another review was raving about this place having the best Al pastor. So all of that hype made it a bit of a downer since I find it mid. Service (3 stars) + Typical food truck style ordering but it's more of a trailer. They have a little salsa bar with about 4-5 sauce options. Ambiance (2 stars) - Too many loud cars passing while we're eating. I can barely have a conversation with the wifey not that we have a ton to talk about lol. - No restrooms nearby. Daughter had to use an emergency toilet that we bring. - Terrible parking where people park behind you and you can't get out quickly. Yes, it takes them awhile to realize they're in your way. read more

My new favorite burrito place in San Jose! Located on the corner of a busy street. Only a few parking spots. There are some shaded tables for you to eat there, but we just took our tacos and burritos to go. They have a salsa bar with about 5-6 salsas and Jalapeños and carrots too! The asada had a yummy char flavor and the pastor tacos had a small pineapple on top. Both delicious. Next time, I think I will try to order my burrito with extra crema. Cash only. There was a QR code that the person in front of me scanned to pay. I THINK it was Zelle. read more
Really well seasoned tacos, on the spicier side. The salsas are great too. The pineapple pork combo in gringa was really good. I would go back again, they are pricey for a food truck place but the taste is guaranteed. For a non Spanish speaker it wasn't easy to order but I dint mind, just had to make sure they don't serve me steak. read more

Long overdue, but this is probably one of my favorite food trucks! They prepare and get orders out quickly and efficiently, and the quality is always on point. I ordered their quesadilla with brisket, and it was absolutely delicious! It was also larger than I expected--I could barely finish half, so I saved the other half for the next day. (Side note: if you air fry it, it tastes just as good!) And the best part is the food is reasonably priced. They have semi-outdoor seating and tables available, and there's a sauce bar where you can ask for containers to go upon request. Heads up they prefer cash* read more

I've been meaning to come to Tacos Chencho after my coworker recommended this place over Tres Reyes. I came here on an early Saturday night and got 12 tacos to split between 2 people, totaling $41. Maybe I wasn't super hungry, but the 6 tacos filled me up more than I expected. Pretty affordable price-wise given Bay Area food pricing. The Al Pastor and Cabeza were really good, with the Al Pastor being tender and garnished with a real pineapple whereas the Cabeza was really fatty and flavorful. The carne asada was a bit dry and underwhelming. The salsa verde was decent, I'd say Tres Reyes has more flavorful and spicier salsas, but if less flavor and less spicy is your jam you might prefer this over Tres Reyes. Ambiance-wise, it wasn't very busy but we also came at like 5:30 PM which is a bit early. There's parking in the lot next to the truck, but I could see parking not being great when they are more busy. I would come here again, but probably prefer Tres Reyes most days given that I like the salsa verde's strong and spicy flavor kick. read more

Overall solid taco truck. They have a pretty value burrito too. The sauces were good and I did like how they gave grilled onions. The pastor is alright and asada is great. Nice smoky flavor to it. They also did mess up my other I asked for 7 and they gave 6. Payments they are take are zelle and cash. There's also parking and seating for those looking to eat there. Was craving a burrito and decided to go to Tacos Chencho. FYI it's a food truck located in a small parking area of a business and is open after 5pm and cash/zelle only. I ordered the carne asada burrito which is almost $14 after taxes. Love the salsa bar and got the green and orange sauce which is spicy. read more

I betrayed my usual, tacos los tres reyes (still in my heart) for this spot since my friend and I were nearby and this might just be my new favorite. My order is as basic as it gets, but absolutely delicious nonetheless! 2 brisket - 10/10 1 steak - 10/10 1 pork belly - 10/10 Meat portions are optimal, flavorful and cooked perfectly, it's the highlight for sure. The taco itself held up perfectly. The tortillas also had the right amount of firmness (no breakage!) and flavor. Sautéed onions on the side were niceeee. Eating them right away is of course the best way, but there's not much outdoor seating. They also have several aguas you can choose from and they looked pretty refreshing! read more

Nothing special about these tacos, but the asada is good. Love that you can get grilled onions, jalapenos and more! Spent $30 for 12 tacos, so not bad. Cash only. Salsas are decent. The lighter green salsa was the best option, but it could've used some flavor and more avocado. Green and red salsas were more on watery end, and the orange sauce was pure spice but not much flavor compared to Spartans. --TACOS-- (~$2.50 each) CARNE ASADA: 4/5 + Not dry at all! Seasoned and cut into bigger chunks of meat, but I liked that to taste the asada better AL PASTOR: 3/5 + Really liked the pineapple slices that came with this for added sweetness and tang + Meat tasted a bit dry, not as well seasoned nor juicy as the asada read more

Tacos Chencho has been my Taco Tuesday spot for 3 years since moving to San Jose. The tripa and al pastor tacos are my regular order. Their green salsa is the best, and the agua frescas are super refreshing. Consistently great food that keeps me coming back! Fast service and great that they take Zelle if you don't have cash. read more

I went to this truck that was on bascom it doesn't have its own page it looks like so I'm just gonna stick it here. I got asada, pollo and Al pastor. The asada had a Smokey flavor like others have mention my husband really liked it but personally it was a little much for me. I really enjoyed the pollo it was flavorful and juicy I would get it again. The Al pastor was good too. Service was fast and friendly would come again. read more

The al pastor tasted pretty standard and the marinade was what you expect from supermarket al pastor. It wasn't sliced thinly like how spots in LA do and looks like it was cooked on the stovetop. I loved the chew on the suadero and the seasoning was good. The buche also had a good texture and was salted well. What stands out are the salsas here. They are rich in flavor and salted well. The service was quick. This spot is reliable, but not mind blowing. read more
I really wanted to like this place, but it fell short for me. The taco were dry, even after adding all the "works" to it - lime & salsas. I have kids, so I fed them first & by the time I came back to finish my tacos, the tortilla had already harden up. I don't know if I came on the wrong day or what, but unfortunately these tacos were not memorable to me, there are better taco spots nearby in my opinion. read more

Good, fast and friendly service: I ordered a El Pastore burrito with a Mango drink, the drink was good unfortunately the meat was dry and overcooked, all the other ingredients inside the burrito was excellent however. They give you a side of sautéed onions with the burrito which I really enjoyed. They also offer lots of different sauces under glass on the left side of the truck and the have a couple tables under a tarp so you can enjoy your food there outside. read more
