    Super Burrito
    Ter L.

Food is good but daaaaaaaaaamn, the process of actually getting your food takes forever and a day!! I stopped by Tacos Montero for some late night eats and although there were other customers, the wait time for receiving my order didn't add up. Purchases: -Asada Super Burrito -Asada Regular Burrito -Tacos [asada, & lengua] Tacos were better than the burrito. Burritos contained more fillers than I would have liked and the thick center of flour tortilla could have been omitted. As mentioned above, food isn't bad but I can't say the drive and the wait was really worth it. 3 stars but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

Mulita asada and carnitas taco, and horchata
    Jessica M.

The food is so good! It is a taco truck on the corner in a parking lot so parking is limited. There are a few tables and chairs outside. They have a salsa bar with onions, cilantro, salsa. The green and red was my favorite. The orange was too spicy for me. We didn't wait too long even though they were really busy. We ordered the below: Mulita asada: it's like a tostada sandwich. the steak was so tender but had a nice crisp on the outside. The tortillas are freshly made. This was the first time I tried one and it now my new favorite! Carnitas taco: I am picky with carnitas and I loved it! Good flavor, tenderness, and a nice crispy outside. Asada torta: it wasn't my favorite and probably won't order it again. It wasn't terrible, just not my favorite. Horchata: one of my favorites. It's not too grainy and is creamy!

Highest volume taco truck in SJ I have seen. 3 people constantly working in the truck plus separate prep in the liquor store. Next to a liquor store. Plus is you can have a beer with spicy food. Minus is it is the focal point for homeless and vagrants especially when govt. checks come out. Also next to one of the busiest car traffic intersections so there is a constant wind or breeze. Temps at least 10 degrees colder sitting when eating. Not a good area. Most people are scared of the general homeless population and eat in their car. The key is the self serve salsa bar. Load it up with onions and salsa. Get the hot/sour/spicy effect all at once. Cool off with a radish slice. A couple tablespoons of salsa isn't enough to feel the heat. Need to add a couple scoops from the salsa bar. Add onions and cilantro. 4 different salsas. Nopales tacos/burritos. Inflation affecting the prices. Used to be all nopales in the nopales tacos now it is a mix of onion and nopales. Dont see cactus or pork skin at most taco places.

Asada (3/5 stars), Al Pastor (3/5 stars) & Carnitas (4/5 stars) Tacos ($3/each)

3.5 stars overall but rounding up for their awesome homemade corn tortillas! They were still busy at 2:30pm on a Saturday, and it was about 15 minutes for my order at that time. I ended up trying the Asada, Al Pastor & Carnitas Tacos ($3/each, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=a9xolwsjCqhkEGMfMQMr_g&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): The carnitas was surprisingly the favorite, since it was so tender. I thought the al pastor and asada were good, but not great, and both could have used a little more char and flavor. However, the homemade corn tortillas were really the star of the show- they were crispy on the outside but still soft and fluffy on the inside with a subtle chewiness to them. SO fresh and delicious! Also, these tacos were giant, and a great value for the price- none of those tiny "street" tacos that a lot of other food trucks are selling. They had two different types of salsa, an orange salsa and a green salsa. The orange salsa was nice and spicy, and the green had a more mild heat. I appreciated the slices of fresh radish to cool down from the spicy salsas! I will be back for more carnitas tacos, and to give some of the other meats a try. Outdoor seating was available, and they set up a covered area with tables and chairs in front of the food truck. Parking was easy to find at that time, since there were still spots in the lot they share with the liquor store.

Bought 7 tacos and they won't even give me ONE sauce container I actually will use. Asked for a container to put some green salsa inside because all she gave me was the orange sauce which I don't eat and she said you only can put some on top..... I'm not eating them right away that's why I got them to go.. Definitely a rude older lady w broken English. Would I come back? No, only if I'm starving and this is really my last choice of any type of food.

I like it. This place is right in front of a liquor store so I'd be mindful of your belongings. Parking is also scarce. I came here after finding out that Spartan's was closed and my friend said this place is always open on holidays, so that's nice! Close by is the Grand Century / Vietnam Town plaza. I ordered 2 Carne Asada tacos and 1 large horchata. I found it nice how there's a self serving station so you can choose your toppings and how much you want. There are also tables and seating options right in front of the truck, but it is limited. The tacos were super soft and the meat was seasoned well. 10/10 for the horchata! I enjoyed every sip!

Wow what a diamond in the rough. The tacos here are seriously fantastic. The handmade tortillas here are sooo delicious. I love that they're soft, have a good thickness and do not crumble or fall apart. The proteins are nicely cooked and seasoned. Every element is very fresh. Simple yet very delicious. They clearly take pride in what they do and it shows. The people working the truck are super nice. It is however strictly cash only so make sure you go prepared. Best taco I've had in a long time.

    Torta with carnitas
    Sharon T.

Review is based on food only! - Torta w/carnitas: Decent torta. The onions pieces were pretty big and there was too much of it in the sandwich, so it made every bite slimy and too sweet. Also, I loooove potatoes, but having it in the sandwich gave it a weird taste. It just did not mesh well at all. 3/5. - Tacos w/pollo (chicken): Pretty good, but nothing outstanding. 4/5.

solid tacos. freshly made corn tortillas. very friendly staff. tacos are a bit larger than regular street tacos which explains the $3.50 per taco pricing. had the chicharon, best I've ever had asada solid flavor and seasoning but dry pollo solid flavor and seasoning but dry carnitas solid flavor and seasoning but dry papas con chorizo, very tasty potato's salsas are nice and flavorful, in order from my least to best green(tomatillo), red salsa, and then orange salsa. the red salsa is good though and for certain meats does better than orange sauce. will definitely come back for the mulitas and gordita's. overall happy with my meal. if only the meats were still juicy they'd win a 5 star, but glad nothing was greasy which some cover in to hide that they're dry.

    Super burrito

Their super burrito is so good, meat not overcooked a super burrito for $12??? Gassss green salsa fire too. Gr8 service, nice lady at cashier. Definitely coming back for more ‍‍

Perfect afternoon lunch. Everything was so delishhhh!

There are so many options when it comes to tacos on Story Road but its very easy to pick Tacos Montero over the others because of their bomb tripas tacos, authentic, better quality in all their food, and very consistent. On our first visit, we ordered 13 tacos. Out of thirteen tacos , there were three tripas for the three of us to try. My first tripas taco here and it was love at first sight. It was soooo good that we had to come back the same day to grab me two more for me. I didnt care for the beef tacos. The beef was good. Dont get me wrong. However, the tripas....it was bomb dignity !The tripas were seasoned just right and perfect texture. No gaming taste or chewy. Aside form the bomb tripas this place makes everything else good as well. Tortillas handmade here. It's not too dry and greasy like the other places. The spicy house sauce goes so well with everything. Their super burrito comes with generous amount of meat. Veggies are always fresh. The wait here can be long during peak hours only because it gets pack and also they're taking their time to make sure every order is good. It's best to call ahead to avoid the long wait.

I…read morewent with some family and everyone missed the turn on right and had to U turn and try again just FYI Depending on when you go parking can be difficult, if it is packed I would recommend parking the street over and walking. Most of the food is prepared in a food truck where you line up and order. Seating is next to the sauce bar and they have first come first serve seating. Typical culture is to put the sauce directly on the tacos when you receive them. They give sauce cups if you order to go otherwise they are reluctant to give them out. Currently they are constructing a building around their seating area which is new. This implies that they are generating enough cash to turn their food truck and seating area into an actual establishment. Onto the food review! Carne Asada 7/10 Lengua 7.5/10 Carnitas 8/10 Cabeza 8.3 /10 Suadero 8.5/10 Al Pastor 8.5/10 Suadero and Pastor were top contenders with the most flavor depth. Personally I liked the cabeza as it was very soft, but the flavor can't compare to the suadero. The carne asada lacked flavor in my opinion and was the least tasty out of the meats we tried. Carnitas had that great crunch you're looking for in a taco as it is seared excellently. Lengua was flavorful and super soft just like the cabeza which indicates that they were both braised to perfection. All choices are very solid albeit be prepared for a very greasy meal. The star of the show is their avocado salsa! They offered 6 other sauces in their sauce bar but the avocado salsa was superb compared to the others. This was the only option that had me coming back to sauce bar throughout my meal. They also offered pickled carrots, jalapeños, and onions at their sauce bar to help balance the flavors. Finally the best JD big back tip is to get the large strawberry horchata! It was so good we finished ours before even taking a picture of it! The flavor profile on that beverage is superb, imagine a creamy strawberry yakult that is the perfect option to balance greasy tacos. This is a hidden gem item as their strawberry horchata is significantly better than other restaurants version of it. They also offer other flavored horchata but the strawberry remains top tier.

The marinade is perfect and the meat is tender. I've never tried their burritos, only because I can't get enough of their tacos which is crazy because I'm usually the opposite. But Tres Reyes is just that good. I love how they have a dedicated dining area that is always clean. I've never had trouble finding a seat either. The dining area has a full salsa bar with all myriad sauces. They even have picked red onions, jalapeños, and carrots. So good with tacos. Finally, the selection of aguas frescas they have is insane. They have like 8 different flavors if I'm not mistaken. My absolute favorite is the melon/cantaloupe drink. It's so sweet and refreshing. You can definitely taste the fresh melon. So by all means, visit Tres Reyes. Just not too much cuz it's mine!!! ;)
