Masala dose
Arvind S.

3.5/5. Rounding to 3 I am not from Bengaluru but I know a good Bengaluru Masala dose (I prefer to call it a dosa but being from Chennai!) having been there plenty and had my fair share of masala dose there. The dosa was good, heavy on butter (expected), with the red chutney as described. Pretty authentic in that sense of course. But I felt something was missing to make it a top notch Bengaluru masala dose, it was above average and maybe could have been slightly thicker. The coconut chutney on the side was very good. The dosa is on the smaller side. And it was slightly cold. No other chutney/sambar (expected) but that makes me feel the Bengaluru masala dose in the Bay Area are overpriced for what comes. You finish it in a few minutes and feel like you need one more, which means spending 27-28 dollars! We also had the ghee pudi thatte idli and that was above average/not the biggest portion size. Heavy on ghee/podi. Was cold as well. There are a couple of tables outside the cloud kitchen type setup and those were occupied. They start making your dosa after you check in there after ordering ahead. Pros and cons of that, given you have to wait 15 odd minutes in person after ordering 20 minutes ahead. We had the dosa near our cars because we knew it wouldn't taste as good taking it home. Folks handling our check in were really friendly though! I may not come back given I live fairly far away and the value for money isn't the best.

Podi Masala Dosa

This is based on a similar concept like another favorite dosa place of mine in the Bay. The dosa was pretty good. A little oily though, the butter seeped through the paper plate. And I had the coffee which could have been a tad stronger. The pricing is again similar to the other dosa place but there could be few improvements. - we went to pick our order at our given slot but were asked to wait for 15 mins. . I went back after 15 mins and turned out our order was waiting for a while. There was no text telling us to come pick it up. - we asked for takeout and got plates. There are only two tables so you either have to sit in the car or stand and eat. - it looked like people were ordering on the site while the site showed as sold out. So I wasn't clear on the process. That said the food had flavors. And maybe things will stabilize. The place is only open on Saturday as of now and has a limited menu. But I am excited with the number of Bangalore dosa places in the area.

Yummy crispy masala dose with chutney

Service : Outstanding. The chef absolutely understands her customers, takes time to interact, and you can see the passion for her food. She drives all the way from Sacramento to San Jose. I mistakenly dropped the batter and they replaced it at no cost. Quality and authenticity: Best dose and chutney I have had in US. No need of any stuffing, sides. When the dose is so beautiful it's like art. Hygiene: 5/5 . Even in the food, you can taste the freshness. Cannot wait to try the coffee, idly and explore other dishes on their menu. Hope their business grows .

As you can see from my previous reviews, this has been one of my favorite places, and I've always highly recommended it. That's why I was especially disappointed this time. We ordered the veg Hakka noodles, which came with two sauces on the side. When my husband noticed what appeared to be a piece of hair/string in one of the sauces, he took it to the counter and politely let the staff know. Instead of apologizing or asking how they could make the situation right, they repeatedly said it might be onion or ginger. When we explained that it clearly wasn't either, they couldn't give us an explanation. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of apology or concern. We obviously didn't feel comfortable eating the food after finding a hair in the sauce, so we left it untouched. We weren't offered a replacement, a discount, having the item removed from the bill, or even a simple "we're sorry." Instead, when we were ready to leave, we were simply handed the bill with an attitude of, "Oh, so you guys are done?" The way the situation was handled felt very rude and unprofessional. Mistakes can happen at any restaurant, but how you handle a customer's concern makes a huge difference. A simple apology and an effort to make things right would have completely changed the experience. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be going back. I wish I had taken a photo, but at the time I was more concerned about the hair in the food and was honestly so disappointed that my entire mood was ruined.

Ambiance was nice. Pachmichi Paneer Pulaav (medium) - it was so flavorful and even medium spicy was perfect spicy. So far my experiences here have been pleasant, with the service being friendly and there being an ample amount of seating inside. I've noticed that the food tends to run on the spicier side (we ordered mild and yet it was still spicy, though perhaps just a sign of my spice tolerance failing me), but outside of that it tasted good. Panni Puri - This was my first time trying a panni puri and it tasted really good, even though I found it spicy (we ordered mild). I especially loved the texture of the onions inside of it. I ate it earlier on which made it harder for me to tell which other dishes were spicy and which ones weren't at the time as a result of its lingering spiciness, but I would happily order it again given the opportunity. Punugulu/Veggie Puff/Vegetarian Fried Rice - All three of these were good and I do recall them being non-spicy. The veggie puff was especially refreshing after trying to get through the paneer pulav Mirchi Bajji - These were also good and surprisingly not as spicy as I thought they would be, considering that they have chili peppers in them Naan with House Vegetable Curry - The vegetable curry was really spicy and it took me a while to realize this because I was still dealing with the effects of the panni puri while I was eating this. Had I not brought some of it home as leftovers I probably would've thought that this was non-spicy Paneer Pulav - Much spicier than expected. I needed to use some of the curd to tone it down but it was still good. The texture of the rice was good too The cold drinks on their menu come in a reusable bottle and from their display I can assume that their desserts are the same way. So far the ones I've tried (mango lassi, rose milk, and chikoo shake) have been refreshing. There's also a falooda section that closes at around 8:00 pm, but I haven't been able to try them yet as both times we got there past eight. Overall a pleasant experience in spite of the spiciness. Perhaps one day I'll be strong enough to handle it without the curd, but it'll probably take a couple of additional visits before I can.

I never got there, but my husband raved about it from business dinners. Our birthday honoree wanted to come here. One of us is vegetarian, another GF and very allergic to solanaceae, and two don't eat fish. Usually Pakistani & eastern Asian cuisine is a good choice. Three of us had masala chai, served in traditional glazed clay cups: I think cardamom was the top note. Ginger's the top note, followed by cardamom when I make it. It was blissful. I have been wanting to try pani puri for a while, but don't think the delicate shells would survive delivery. Mouthgasms ensued from everyone. Next time I'm in an Indian restaurant, I'm getting that, as it was as tasty as it looks. Samosas were ordered to share, and again, we were all happy. Because of the high simple carbs, I don't eat the usual one, but half of one was heavenly. Garlic naan & papad(ums) were ordered. They were the most flavorful papad I've ever tasted: don't know what the additional ingredient was, but I will certainly order that again. I asked our server, who might have been a manager, how many papadums were in an order. The answer was three, but he'd add a fourth. It took us a while to choose entrees, and when we made our order, he looked at each of us, confirmed what we ordered--with no note pad. I was impressed. I had the achari chicken kebab, absolutely wonderful spicing, with plenty of onion strips, nicely browned just short of caramelized. Our vegetarian ordered saag paneer, the honoree had her favorite butter chicken, and the fourth ordered seekh kebab. We usually get a taste of each other's dishes, except the vegetarian, because meat. We were very appreciative and enthusiastic of what we'd ordered. We couldn't have made our enjoyment more clear. For dessert, we ordered an intense Malai (mango) kulfi, gulab jamun (dough balls in a honey sauce), too sweet for me, but still pleasant, and rasmalai, a sweet dough in a milky sauce, spiced with saffron, rosewater, cardamom, and pistachios. We were treated to a plate of jalebi, which resembles funnel cakes, in a honey sauce. I've seen these at a Persian market, but don't know the name. For all we ordered, the bill was modest, about $114. We added an ample tip. This was the absolute best Indian food I've ever had! We had such a lovely time. One thing I wish restaurants would do is to put their full menu online, instead of just popular items for delivery or pick-up. It gives you more incentives to dine in!

I absolutely LOVE the idea of having a pani puri station outside, and the fact that it's open so late at night is just the icing on the cake. I've been here a few times now, and the pani puri has always been so good. The two people I've seen serving the puris are usually really friendly, and I love that they wait until you finish each round so you never feel rushed :P I've also noticed they have a live dosa station next to the pani puri. I haven't tried it yet, but I'll definitely be back to give it a try sometime. For me, the pani puri here is honestly comfort food. I come back whenever I'm craving that familiar taste or just missing home a little

We decided to try their samosa chaat, but it took **30 minutes to prepare**. To our disappointment, the very first bite revealed that the samosa was not cooked properly. I initially thought I might be mistaken, but upon taking a closer look, I could clearly see raw, white dough inside. We had specifically requested less chutney, but the chaat came with no chutneys at all and was completely bland. We immediately informed the cashier that the samosa was undercooked and contained raw dough. She offered to replace the dish or provide biryani, but after such a disappointing experience, we had no desire to eat anything else from this place. I therefore requested a refund. The cashier told me she did not have the authority to issue a refund and that the owner would send it to me via Zelle. Despite providing my details and making multiple requests, I still have not received my refund. It has now been three days, and I have been calling repeatedly with no resolution. I expected better food and much better customer service. Unfortunately, I will not be returning and would not recommend this place based on my experience.

Onion enhances the flavor of it. 5 Star Roomali Roti- probably the best Roomali roti. Does not matter where they make it. They put butter on it. It does not get chewy or gets dry. 5 Star Sunny and Love they work hard to make it happen. Kudos to them. It's a bit dark and warm in the restaurant... You order at the kiosk and wait for your food to be made from the kitchen. A wow factor was seeing the pani puri made and filled with toppings live. It took about 10-15 minutes for our order to be complete! We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 entrees for 3 people to share family style. Apps: - Rice: can't go wrong with carbs - Garlic Naan: big 4 pieces that are fluffy, crispy, and lots of flavor Entrees: - Butter Chicken: a classic staple and lots of chicken that was tender, juicy, and so much saucy flavor - Dahi Puri: a good portion of 8 and it was so filling because of the potato and just a flavor bomb that explodes with so much complex flavor of sweet, creamy, crunchy, and more! Best to eat this first before it gets too soggy. - Achari Chicken Tikka: lots of meat here as well, with more spicy flavors in this dish - Daal Makhani: hearty lentil soup! Great experience! We were stuffed!

Since you're also getting roti or naan, this is backwards to me. Unless you're a carbatarian, get the regular entree and rice and bread on the side to balance the ratios. They don't have enough vegetarian items that we want to eat from them again, now that we've tried them a couple times we'll move on to other local Indian restaurants. We recommend: -Malai Kofta: good sauce flavor, though neither the sauce or the kofta were what we're used to from previous favorite Indian restaurants. The kofta are very fluffy but bland + Punjabi Kadhi Pakoda: good sauce flavor, and the spinach pakoras were good. This sauce has a kick, so it's also good with raita. + Paneer lababdar: good flavor of sauce and cheese -Aaloo tikki chaat: good, I liked the mix of flavors. +naan was good, nice chewy texture and large size We don't recommend: -Bhalla Papdi Chaat: I liked this but my husband didn't. I mainly liked the sauces and the papadi (the crackers I got did not look homemade), so I would try their other appetizers instead. FYI, it doesn't come with pomegranate seeds like in the photograph. -Tandoori Broccoli: huge disappointment, inedible. They either used super old bitter broccoli, or massacred the flavors. It had to go straight into the compost. Neither of us could stand it. Looks like they took it off the menu. -Palak pakodi chaat: so salty it burned my tongue. Saltiest pakora I've ever had. -Amritsari chole: I wasn't a fan of the flavor of this and would have tossed it but my husband thought it was ok and was willing to eat it.
