I came here for lunch on a weekend and ordered the Benagalore Benne Dosa, Anandabhavan Special Thali and Parota (side- Kurma & Channa). The Benagalore Benne Dosa and Parota (side- Kurma & Channa) were recommended by the staff there. I also got a Thali to try the variety of curries and dishes they have. The Benagalore Benne Dosa had a nice potato curry mixture in it, fluffy interior dosa with crispy exterior and nice sauces to dip in. The Parota was very flaky and delicious - highly recommend. It came with a side of kurma which is black eyed peas in a curry, as well as channa which is chickpeas in a curry. They went nicely with the parota. The thali was exceptional, lots of options and variety of items to try. Portion is large and I recommend trying this. For two people, these three dishes were enough and we had leftovers to take home. I usually go to this place for panipuri but this time, I tried gongura masala dosa, mini tiffin, mini meals and dahi puri, idly. Loved all of them!! Gongura dosa was spicy , tangy with a Lot of potato masala inside. Peanut chutney was my fav. Bisibelebath was more like sambhar rice but it was quite comforting. They have an outside patio where they serve Panipuri, Masalapuri and other snacks like Bun Maska Chai etc. We tried Panipuri and it was really good. We had Masala Puri too. Us being from Pune-Mumbai we expected a different dish but this Blore style Masala Puri was really tasty. Indoor we had coconut Masala Dosa, which was least favorite of all the things we tried here. The service is great. They're pretty fast and they were able to change some options for us without any charge. We also had a coffee which was amazing, but the thought was fulfilling had south Indian taste of everything they made. it's a comfort food so I would always go back and have Ali there, but they do have other options that you should explore and I also heard that in the evenings they have live chat station and free Iranian chai. I visited this place on Sunday afternoon for lunch and we ordered mysore masala dosa, Uttapam with tomato, chilli and cheese and idly vada plate. I must say the food was pretty average. Looking at the pictures and menu I was expecting alot from this place. The dosa was not crispy enough and idly was dense and not light and airy, uttapam was not that great. Medu vada was good and sambar and coconut chutney were pretty average. I only liked the peanut and tomato chutney. Overall, I would give this place 2.5/5 as the taste was pretty average. The live dosa station was superb! Kids had chocolate dosa options. They even had gongura dosa as one of the options. Rasam soup was fresh and delicious less oily and perfect for winter weather. They have a 50% off going on Panipuri and Bangalore-style Masala Puri until the end of October. Bun Maska, Irani Chai, and Osmania biscuits along with Firni were refreshing additions to their menu. I haven't yet found a better overall South Indian restaurant in the South Bay. (Please don't say Madras Cafe, their puliyodhare and other rice dishes were soggy and inedible. I literally made it better my first time and I'm Gujarati). Anyyyyyway, I come here fairly often for my dosa, idly, and uttapam fix. Their idly are fluffy and fresh. Really enjoy the sambhar and chutneys here (coconut and peanut are my favorites). I recommend getting the combo with the vada, but I would eat a shoe if someone deep fried it for me, so...). These vada are crisp and flavorful. This trip I ordered the uttapam with tomato and onion. Not as hot and crispy as usual, but will reheat well on cast iron (I only ate half). My dining companion got the onion rava masala dosa. It came out perfectly lacy, with the potato masala on the side (a nice touch so it doesn't get the dosa soggy). She devoured it before I could try some, so I assume there were no complaints there. My South Indian husband often gets the thali (kalyana sapadu) and while some of the vegetable curries can be high on the spice scale, this is very much a taste of home for him. We like Ananda Bhavan so much that they catered our wedding with a live dosa station. It was a huge hit! We'll be back often, as it's our go-to spot. read more

Tried their live pani puri stall and few of the chaats on the menu - bangalore chaat, papdi chaat..but sad to say that the flavor wasn't that great. Honestly a bit disappointed since the vibe of the pani puri stall was nice but the taste wasn't upto the mark. They tried recreating the ambience of street food stalls from India and I honestly would like to appreciate their efforts there. I have heard from others that the place is more known for its south indian food so would good back again sometime to try just that. We wanted to get dinner before the July 4th fireworks and my friend suggested we try this place as they have some live chat. The live chat is in the patio area. It's well shielded preventing the wind which kept the area warm. They have cafe lights, some heaters and an overall great vibe going on with several varieties of chat. Masala puri, panipuri, onion samosa, punugulu, mirchi bajji and Osmania biscuits with chai are some varieties they had that day. We sampled almost everything except mirchi bajji. Panipuri: the filling was way too hot and made it difficult to eat and kept breaking up the puri as well. The pani needed some tartness and extra heat from chillies. Having said that, it was still great and much better than other places. I liked it enough to take two plates. Masala puri: a little too spicy but delicious nonetheless. Punugulu: these were great. Best among the lot. Onion samosa: typically the filling is not spicy, they are supposed to be just these greasy little bites with onion filling. The version here used a lot of chilli in the filling. Chai: a little too sweet. We then went into the restaurant to get some dinner after all these snacks and got the three feet dosa for the kids and Kalyana sapudu. Dosa: rich with ghee but reminded me of the dosa I had as kid and fell in love with back in India. Kalyana sapudu: came with a variety of curries, one roti, white rice and some desserts. I liked everything on the plate. The potato Kurma with some greens was my favorite followed by the cabbage dal. Overall I am impressed enough to go back.
