The worst post office in the city! I cannot speak for everyone but if you live in Parkchester I guarantee you your mail gets fucked up on a regular. Sorry not sorry. I can complain on the website and nothing will happen but when I spend $$$$ on stuff to arrive for a wedding and my regular carrier loses my package because she was concerned about the 5-min rain shower (postal slogan:rain, sleet, snow?), this thing needs to leave the job if that's the case. I spent $70 on a package to arrive only to have my carrier mishandle her scanner bc she's incompetent and the rain was more important then her actually doing her job! I wouldn't recommend this post office to my dog. I will say, FedEx and UPS never lost nothing and if they didn't want too or didn't have time to deliver it, they'd take it back and try tomorrow or drop it off at a drop off center for pickup but my mail carrier being lazy which she is, was being a scatter brained worried about the wrong stuff and lost my package. S*, I HATE THIS POST OFFICE. Door bells rings 1/8/15. I buzz the door open. Nobody comes up. When I go out, the slip that is by the door says today's date "1/7/15". Lazy f*er I call the post office and ask for a re-delivery. "We'll re-deliver tomorrow" says the lady with the dead voice. Snow. 1/9/15 came and no package. I gave them a call 6:35 p.m. They put me on hold. I just hung up after 45 minutes because they close at 7. Rain. 1/12/15 went to the post office for a second slip and the lady at the window tells me the first slip I received is out for a re-delivery. 8:05 p.m. and no package has arrived. 1/13/15 still waiting for the package... Aside from the window workers, the ones who deliver the package are so lazy. Like many others have written, it is always crowded and one will have to wait over 15 mins. This locations employees steal packages. I have proof! Two weeks ago I had a packaged marked as delivered at 8:01am left at the front door it says. I check the door within 10 mins (it was also a rainy day and it was a huge shoebox) NO PACKAGE! I check my cam dvr, there was no truck or delivery person in sight at 8am! I called asked for supervisor who pretended to take my info never even got back to me... A old guy needed help to get a new passport and ofc he wasn't well with the machine so he kept asking and no one came to help until he asked a regular person and offered to pay $10. It was now my turn to return a parcel and the employee had such a terrible attitude with her dry ass wig on her head. Most recent interaction with this office involved a postal worker abruptly hanging up on me after I told her a package didn't arrive when it was scheduled to. The saving grace is Ms. Austin, who is kind, patient, and seems to genuinely want to provide quality service. It took her less than three minutes to find my package. Most of the time when you know the parcel will be delivered , you wait for the whole day @ home , then by the end of the day, nobody comes and then you find out there is a notice being left saying that nobody @ home and package undelivered. Or there are other times the bell rings and you wait and wait, then nobody comes and same thing : a notice being left saying nobody home and package undelivered. This post office is literally a waste of tax payers money. It is poorly run, clearly not supervised and the general attitude of a few (not all) of the staff is unacceptable. For the cutomers with mailboxes, the boxes are not serviced for outgoing mail. If you need your mail to reach its recipient it is strongly advised that you bring it to the post office to have a chance that it will get there. If you are lucky enough to be notified of undelivered mail, arrive early at the post office and be prepared to wait 30-45 minutes on line while the clerk moves as slowly as possible to get your mail. He is by far the most lack lustre worker you will ever meet. I wish this review would make a difference but it probably will not. What a disservice to residents in zip code 10462. Today, go down to get my mail and discover the mail carrier is inserting the mail in the many mailboxes while BLASTING HER MUSIC. Also, left security front door of my building open (I assume for her own personal ventilation). Just months ago by the way, a teen was assaulted by somebody following him into this same building. Called Parkchester Post Office to complain. Nobody bothered to answer. A couple of months ago, a different mail carrier left all the metal doors to the mail boxes wide open WHILE SHE WAS IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING ON A CELL PHONE CALL. She left all mail available to any thief. That is how identities are stolen - by stealing mail. Lastly, was on line one day for around 20 minutes to pick up a package. When it came for my turn, the postal worker left the window AND NEVER CAME BACK! I kept alerting the employees there that there was a very long line with no one at the window. An Asian worker there just laughed and said "Oh, she's coming back." In fact, she NEVER DID. Eventually, after a long wait (15+ minutes) different worker in fact took over the window. The tracking information said it would be arriving by 8pm according the to Amazon.com. At 6:45pm I got a notification that the package had been attempted to be delivered AT 1:30PM!!! I've been to this Post Office multiple times and I've had nothing but good experiences. I noticed most of the problems and backup at this location are for individuals coming to pick up their mail. There should be a negative rating for this Post Office. Absolutely the worst. Long lines for package pick-up. Carriers do not even attempt to deliver packages. I have rescheduled a package 4 times with no success. When I called to place a complaint, I was asked if I can go pick up the package myself which would defeat the purpose of scheduling redelivery. When I contacted the USPS customer center, I was told that there were so many complaints about this post office and even if I did make repeated complaints, nothing would be done. I recently moved into the zipcode of this post office so this is my first experience picking up a package from here. All of my packages that have come from USPS was always left in front of my door which is fine because it's secured with a gate. This is the first time I tracked my package to see that the delivery was attempted and I have to pick it up. I was home and I would have heard them knock the door IF THEY ACTUALLY ATTEMPTED IT. But I didn't get mad and I scheduled a re delivery. Nobody came. I said alright I'll just go to the post office and get it since I was always used to doing that when I lived at my last address. I was on that line for almost 2 hours. I heard other people complaining and telling stories about carriers always putting mails in wrong mailboxes. A guy ahead of me told somebody else that the person supposed to deliver his package attempted the delivery but didn't show up. He went outside and caught the person parked in some corner eating ice cream. So that goes to show how these people like to play games and screw you over. So when I FINALLY got to the window and gave my tracking number, and waited for like 10 minutes for the guy to get back, he tells me he doesn't know where's my package. Can you imagine waiting on a line for almost 2 hours just to be told they don't know where your package is? Then they want to wonder why people in there have attitudes. HOW ABOUT DOING YOUR JOB PROPERLY AND PEOPLE WONT HAVE TO GET NASTY WITH YOU LIKE I HAD TO? I rarely ever yell especially in public places so the fact that I had to yell in there just shows how upset they made me in there. There are many people out there trying to get a job so seeing how people don't want to do their jobs is just a waste. If you don't want to work then don't come.
