I'm not sure how on God's green Earth this place received anything besides a one star review. If this office was not walking distance from my home as I'm without a vehicle I would never return. Now I'm here again and a customer has lost 3 of his checks through this location. ALWAYS some nonsense in this location. Yesterday, I witnessed something at the post office that deeply disturbed me -- something I never thought I'd experience firsthand in this country. A couple was trying to get a U.S. passport for their newborn. They couldn't speak English. Instead of receiving support, they were met with hostility. The passport clerk a woman of color herself was dismissive, rude, and outright refused to help them or ask a Spanish-speaking colleague (who was also a supervisor) to assist. Thankfully, an angel, a stranger stepped in to translate. But even then, the employee made it clear she was annoyed that someone was helping. She voiced it out loud. Where is the basic human decency? Where is the empathy? This country was built by immigrants. Its strength is in its diversity. English is not the "official" language of the United States because we are not defined by one language, but by our shared humanity. And to the USPS an agency that relies on public funding and is under constant political threat your frontline service should reflect the very people who keep you alive. That family deserved respect. That translator deserved gratitude. We all deserve better. Do better!! read more

There's always a long line and I am honestly surprised that they are still in Business. I've had several instances where the drivers either are too lazy to actually deliver to my door or they do not even leave a notice. It boils down to the top management having a lack of care for the office itself. When I come here I feel as if I am entering a boiler room where I am treated like cattle. I hope that one day that there is something that is created that is better than the USPS. The only convenience is that it is close to my residence but that is by chance and it does not change my view on their customer service as a whole. I think the whole year I've been here, NONE of the workers have said so much as "hello." I want this morning to the USPS on 1950 Lafayette Ave, The Bronx, NY 10473 just to buy a stamped envelope, when I got to the window and request the envelope I was told we do not have any. I was flabbergasted I asked why its a post office I was ignored and I requested to speak to a supervisor and o was told there's no one available. I felt my blood boiling that these PUBLIC SERVANTS TREAT THE PUBLIC. So I just left and went to the P.O on Soundview and they had a stamped envelope. I went on the USPS web site and filed a complaint with the Post master general. This station has the most disrespectful PUBLIC SERVENTS you can ever encounter. This location makes me hate the post office. I want to reaffirm that the complaints about this post office are entirely accurate. The workers here, for the most part, do not attempt deliveries, unless they are small packages being delivered by your regular postal worker. For every positive encounter (for which I give them one star) I have here there are at least ten negative ones. But this is my real rant: I was home the entire evening yesterday and was expecting three packages. I received two emails that there was "No secure location available" for two of them but magically one delivery was handed to me 15 minutes after the second notification was e-mailed to me. I didn't hear a knock on my door until that delivery was handed to me. But okay, time to go to the post office. Again. Even though I already put plans on hold to wait for these packages. Again. When you come here, especially on a Saturday, be prepared to wait upwards of TWO hours on the pickup line to get your packages, even when two people are manning the line. I saw one man bring a foldable lawn chair to sit on while he waited. Yes, it was that serious. In comparison, the retail line is about a 5-10 minute wait. I had to go to Parkchester post office with a friend and they have a wait of about 45 minutes for the pickup line. Recently Cornell followed Parkchester's lead and decided to open on the first three Sundays of December for retail and pickup services. Hooray! I was given a business card which CLEARLY listed the hours as 10 AM - 3 PM. I get there at 2:20 PM today to be told, no actually it's 3 PM for retail services and 2 PM for package pickup. Wait, what? Your business card didn't list separate hours, but somehow I'm supposed to know that your hours are one hour short for pickup services? To add insult to injury there was not ONE soul in the post office with me. Just me and the worker at the window. I wish I had the card to show her but I stupidly left it home, so I just left. I hate this post office. I am writing to Amazon to tell them that I am canceling my Prime membership JUST because of the nonsense the USPS has been putting me through for the past two months. I shop online to save time and not wait on line, but what's the point if I cancel plans to wait for deliveries only to spend 1.5-2 hours every weekend waiting for packages that supposedly are going out for delivery but never even make it out of the truck? Oh and good luck if you call this location for anything. I called three times one day. The phone disconnected twice, then on the third attempt someone picked up the phone and then put me on hold for 2 hours before the line disconnected. Good stuff. read more

This post office never seizes to amaze me. It's is 10/10/19 currently 6:14p. There's a long line with 1 person working the window for package pick ups. There was another woman who seems to be more worried about her personal life than her job at the moment because every single customer can here her argument and conversation in the back. I think she must've forgotten she had a customer at her window because she came back out about 10minutes later saying she apologizes she couldn't find his package but that she will take his info. I would have rated this post office a zero but couldn't do that selection. I had an appointment for my 2 sons to get their passports done. We arrived on time. We were directed to the window were the assigned person was in charge of conducting these transactions. There was no one there. I inquired were the person was. I was informed the young lady was on lunch. This was confusing because we had a schedule timeframe. I inquired again if she was on lunch who else was in charge to conduct the transactions. I was informed no one else. At this point I was extremely agitated. I asked to speak to a manager. A personal comes back to the window and informs me that the young lady didn't go to lunch that she went home and no one else could assist. This is terrible service. Number 1 - I took off work to schedule this appointment. Number 2 - The manager never came out to talk to me to apologize. Number 3 - I was asked to give my number for someone to contact me to reschedule. ( no one ever called me back). Number 4 - The was no backup plan for someone else to take care of customers in a situation like this. Again terrible service So today 8/17 against my better judgement I go to post office because I made another appointment with my sons for their passports. I arrived and let them know I had an appointment. I was told that the young lady that handles the passports was scheduled off. How can this be happening again that she wasn't here ( if you read in my first post the young lady last time went home) I must be dreaming. So I demanded to speak to the manager. I believe her name was Mrs. Garcia. She apologize unfortunately her apologize didn't hold water. First how do you schedule the only person that handles the passport to be off. Secondly why didn't you contact everyone on the lust who was scheduled for passport appointments that this couldn't take place today. Her response was that she forgot to do it. Everyone here starting with the manager should be fired or moved. The culture in this Post Office is one that no one needs to do any work we get paid no matter what. I recently ordered an item. They insisted it was delivered and their gps says they were parked across the street from me.. My security camera shows this was actually true, except the idiot delivered the package to a neighbor ACROSS the street.. Jerk can't even read numbers right. On this date there was a line OUTSIDE the office AFTER 9AM. At last check around 9:30am they were still CLOSED.. IS THIS REALLY A U.S post office? First experience about a month ago was with a guy who was trying to cover the delivery guys ass saying upper management doesnt care if the delivery people attempt to knock on your home door or not when "attempting a delivery". He said he couldnt find my package and that the delivery guy must of taken it back out to redeliver ( mind you with out my PERMISSON).. I eventually had to tell him i didnt want to talk to him anymore because he was making absolutely NO sense AND he kept saying weird blatant/obvious lies. So i had to ASK his MANAGER to get my package. The manager brought it out but the guy wasnt with him when the manager came out. Now im calling them and they never pick up the damn phone. They should really invest in hearing aids for their workers through their health insurance. Turn up your volume, clean out your ears OR throw out the damn phone!! read more

I want to give a shout out to the young lady at the Cornell post office that was so nice on the phone and even called me back to tell me that I could go pick up my package . I was going on vacation for a few days and had ordered a replacement crystal plate. I explained to her that I would be gone for 5 days and she was nice enough to go through the trouble to locate it and call me back. However, I went to pick it up within 10 minutes And did not get to see her . I was extremely disappointed as the woman behind the window looked at the pink slip and immediately told me your package is not here. I then explained to her that I had just spoken to someone on the phone and that my package was indeed there. She marched off came back with the package and then said to me next time tell me that in the first place which I had . I think the lady I spoke to on the phone was named Dalia. I only wish I could've thanked her in person. In 32 years living here she was by far the most helpful person I've ever had to deal with at this post office. This is the USPS Cornell Station located at 1950 Lafayette Ave in the bronx. Recently the policy concerning the delivery of packages seems to have changed. The new policy appears to be a total disregard for their customers. When receiving the packages that they are to deliver, they notify the vendors that an attempt at delivering said package has been made when in actuality it has not. If they are making an attempt, then they are neither knocking on the door, ringing bells or leaving a notice. When you call thier office the person answering the phone puts you on hold indefinitely. When you go to pick up your package they are rude. What I wonder is are they still charging the vendor for delivering a package when in actuality the customer is being forced to go pick it up themselves. If this isn't against the law, if this isn't some sort of theft of services or fraud it should be. My next complaint I'm writing is to the Better Business Bureau or who ever handles this, I still have to do a little more research. Good luck to anybody who is using this place. read more

This post office is terrible. I'm trying to Renew my passport and I've been over there 4 times and every time something is always wrong. They keep wasting my time making me wait over 40 minutes just to tell me that there's something wrong with my application or the money order that they told me to take out and approved that it was correct. The workers are lazy, and incompetent because it apparently takes 5 employees to work a computer. And to top it all off the lines are always long and it takes about an hour to just pick up a package. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. TERRIBLE. The workers at this particular station are rude with the nastiest attitudes, and very unprofessional. They don't know how to speak to people. And there is ALWAYS an issue with delivery. They've tried to thieve my package before. Stating my package was delivered, and left at my location. But never did. I go personally to the post office, and had the back and forth and run around with them to get my package. The wait time here is absolutely ridiculous. Then they don't even give you a realistic estimated wait time on what they need to get done. I am giving this branch 5 stars due to one employee who was more than helpful. If memory serves me right her name is Ms. Betancourt. I did not get to see her in person just spoke to her various times over the phone. Anyway she went above and beyond to help me get my package, which was not delivered despite me being home all day. I live in a building where access to my floor is a little complicated and most carriers (including UPS) don't make an effort they just leave a slip. There are two particular carriers at this branch that do make it their business to deliver to my apartment. read more

the service here is horrible the manager's especially ms. watson is disgustingly RUDE AND NASTY!!!. they have workers that steal your packages and when you call or go in to get the issue resolved. they give you the run around and refuse to help to help you. i have made several complaints and will continue until something is done. i still have a package that they can not find or at least. that is what they are telling me. i think they need new management that is willing to go above and beyond to assist to. assure you that your concern is important but this location doesnt give you that at all. i wouldn't be surprised if its the manager's that are in on the stealing of the packages. i am beyond pissed at this location i want it to shutdown!!! read more

Worst Customer Service ever! This should be 0 star! Are all post offices the same?! All the employee there have attitudes with their customers for no real reason. Today I went in and Jackson was helping me, and she was rude to me (I don't know why) and others that were asking for help or questions. Everyone was like but why the attitude. It didn't make any sense as to why she was unprofessional. She would use hand gestures too.. umm, why? That is such a rude manner looking like she's from the hood. Very unprofessional employees with no manners! A general manager or manager or supervisor needs to really speak to their employees and let them know they need to treat customers with respect no matter what. But maybe the managers are just about the same, unprofessional, since all of these reviews say negative things about their employees so clearly nothing is being done!
