This is the main post office in N.Y,C it lies in the middle of the garment district in midtown Manhattan I believe its open everyday out of the week ( unlike other post offices in New York city that are closed cross out the five borough on Sundays ) and right across the street from Madison Square Garden ( had my school graduation there ) any how M.S.G is home to New York Knicks (N.B.A) and New York Rangers (N.H.L), this Post office right on top of Penn station ( Pennsylvania station) which serves the MTA Subway lines :1,2,3,A,,C.E -Trains, L.I.R.R (Long Island Rail Road ), N.J.Transit ( New Jersey Trainsit Train), Amtrak Trains , Flixibus & Megabus in the area .Any how this post office has main beautiful architect pillar front building on eighth avenue , inside it has long hall lobby dating back to its train station days . if you ever n.y.c area take a look in this beautiful art architect -interior building . P.S. with my busy schedule when i'm nearby i drop off birthday cards, or etc. Anniversary cards to my relatives out in the Midwest or Down south , Or even in Canada where i have relatives because there open late , and makes birthday card arrives bit faster , or ship packages here as well ! Very Convivent by the Mta Transportation: Subway: 1,2,3-Train 34 street Train station . or A,C,E-Train.34 street Train station. or B,D,F,M,N,Q,R-Train . 34 street , Train station . Bus: M34A,M34D, etc. bus

JAMES A. FARLEY POST OFFICE: An iconic Building located across the street from MSG established in 1914. Used to use the POST OFFICE for trading THRASH tapes via mail. The Building underwent a metamorphosis in 2021 and is more well known as a Transportion Hub for the LIRR and AMTRAK. A Food Hall located in the Complex houses many Vendors serving a variety of Cuisines. WORTH VISITING.

3.5 I think I've only been here once-- it wasn't exactly how I wanted to spend the first football Sunday of 2022, however, I had a 12PM passport appointment for my daughter. Again, as it was a Sunday, there were not many people, but there also were not much staff present, either. I saw two employee windows open, and one was for passports, which is what I needed. The appointments are in 15 minute intervals-- we arrived late, due to unforeseen train issues and while I thought it wouldn't be a big deal. (They have a list and I would suggest you make it on time because I think if there were more people, we would have been told we needed to book a new appointment). We had all of our paperwork and documents, but the process took a little longer than I anticipated. Also, they charged .50 cents per page to copy our documents, which I found to be a rip-off. The employee was friendly, which is sometimes hard to find at the post office, but thought the process could have gone by a little quicker. Also, I had a check to pay since credit card isn't allowed, however, he insisted I used my debit card, which would force me to buy their postal money order, to pay the state for my the passport. Overall, I had a decent experience here, In all actuality, it was a more pleasurable experience than when I got my first passport at the Downtown Brooklyn Post Office at Cadman Plaza and my renewal passport, which I did, last year, at the Rockefeller Center Post Office. I would say you're better off coming here.

Visited the James A. Farley Historic Post Office with my daughter. I needed stamps to mail my post cards from vacation and I also really wanted to see the beauty of the building. Although it's a huge building most of it isn't USPS anymore as they have converted it to office space. Stop by for a quick peak next time in the city

This is one of the most beautiful post office you could ever see. What a beautiful building with marble floors!! I came in just to mail some postcards. It really is beautiful to see the inside and to enjoy the pictures they have frame there too of the stamps that were sold. And I must say it actual charming art!

Dec 23rd at 8:35am and only one person on counter service? What's the point of the biggest post office having no staff?

This place is extremely slow. Only two workers for this ginormous post office. I waited about 30 minutes just for some stamps.

They actually laughed in her face when she said she had an appointment, and she overheard them making fun of her in the back about how young she looked/her size. She actually heard them say, "This b*tch looks like a fourth-grader, there's no way she has an appointment." It was extremely rude, unkind, unprofessional, and when she got upset with them for continuing to question whether she was an adult (she had already showed them proof at this point), they flipped it around on her and told her there was "no need" for her to be upset. These women should know better. They should be absolutely ashamed of themselves, and to whoever is in charge of managing them, you need to look into who was working this afternoon and make sure that kind of behavior never happens again towards a customer. That was beyond awful to do to another person, and a complete embarrassment coming from two grown women. The fact that they felt it was okay to behave that way at their job is horrendous. Please do better.

Nevertheless, there are times where I need to visit one, and in those cases this is super convenient. For me, the biggest plus this post office has going for it is their operating hours. They're open from 7:30am to 7pm Monday to Saturday which is way longer than a typical branch. This makes it easy if you need to visit before or after work. This is also a huge location - tons of PO boxes and multiple self-serve kiosk stands in case you don't need to wait on the line for your service. Speaking of the line, it's there - as per usual. Despite having multiple tellers and a long queue area, I've only seen two to three people working them - even at peak times. As such, there's always a line - so just be prepared. Overall, this US Post Office is fine. I will use the self-serve kiosks as much as possible, and their expanded operating hours will make me a repeat patron.

A lot of the smaller locations only have a few customer service windows and limited self-service. Here there are over two dozen windows (though not all of them are staffed). As with many post offices the lines could prob move faster but overall it felt reasonable (a dozen odd people in line) on a Friday evening around 5pm. The overall space appeared to be generally clean and decently maintained. Nice touch to add some sculptures and artwork since mailboxes aren't very intriguing to look at. I think sometimes it's easy to judge post office clerks by their covers, they have to deal with such a wide variety of people so they've seen it all. No use being impatient as there's unfortunately not much motivation to speed things up (so many things are broken systematically in the USPS as an organization ...but that's another discussion) and it'll probably just rub on nerves for all parties. In the meantime better to just plan ahead and account for some extra time when getting in line at the post office. One of the nice things about this location is it's open late weekdays until 7pm, convenient when you don't have time before work or during the day to stop by a post office.
