I own and operate a candle business. I shipped a large order to a customer who lives in Roger's Park. 5 of the 7 candles were broken despite being well padded and with fragile stickers on all sides of the Priority Mail box. I filed an insurance claim 8 days after sending the package, which was on May 16. When my customer took the package in to this location, both clerks (Jimmy and Vada) refused to do the damage report, saying the deadline had passed. I was on the phone with my customer and she showed them the email we'd received from the USPS claims department with instructions for local USPS offices to complete the damage reports. The claims department representative was very clear that decisions about the timeline were up to them. The local office still should examine and document the damage. This was the 3rd post office she had taken it to. First was Devon St and then Main St in Evanston. All with excuses for why they cannot examine damaged packages/items and provide the receipt form. I contacted USPS about the incident at Paulina St since I was on the phone to hear what happened. I received a response back from Ms. Hollis (a customer service agent at the location) via email stating that the deadline to examine the package was May 20 (!). How is that possible when the package was sent on May 8 and I filed the claim on May 16? You have two months to initiate a claim on a Priority Mail package. Surely we have more than 4 days after initiating the claim to bring it in. I called her today to try to get clarity on her decision and she was defensive and rude. She ultimately refused to explain where she got that date from and left me on hold after saying "let me let you speak to someone else." She is the one who wrote the email. At this point, I have to just wait for the claim to be denied and provide all the evidence of our efforts to get a damage report, including the pictures that I am attaching. My customer took pictures of the package inside the office to prove she brought it in. I've been in business for 4 years and have never experienced this much trouble with an insurance claim. It is as if the Chicago area staff are united in refusing to do their small part of the process which is to simply examine the damage and upload it for our claim. Pictures are attached. read more

There's a young gentleman who started as the sole clerk at this location during or just before the pandemic. Great service, helpful with answering questions, as well as providing advice on mailings all the way through the pandemic. Whenever I drop prepaid packages off, he is happy to scan them and provide a receipt and it gives me assurances to where packages are in the event they are delayed along the way. Dropping packages in the blue collection box outside or in the chute inside may not always get scanned at this location if they are rushing to get them out the door. Great location, next to the Howard L stop (and walking distance to home). read more

This post office is for the Birds! The woman working will throw you the nastiest attitude as she scowls at you, purposely stalls, tap tap tap with her fingers, tries to check your attitude and pushes you to the point of telling her to shove the Mail where the sun don't shine--- at which point she will then kick you out and tell you to go to Devon Post Office. Been going here for too long and honestly I'm relieved I don't have to see her glaring face when I walk out anymore. Not sure if she is one of these Power Trippers or just Uber LAZY but if you must go here be prepared and be warned!!! Otherwise just go to the branch at Devon it's a much safer area anyways - you never know what kinda crazy stuff could happen up by the Howard Redline! read more

I had a very bad experience today at the United States Postal Service 7615 N. Paulina Avenue Chicago Illinois 60626. The postal representative for this location was obnoxious, angry, and irrational. She had no identification tag on her shirt and she refused to identify herself. Upon entering this location with my service dog the postal rep yelled at me as I was coming through the door "No dogs or pets allowed" In response I stated "This is a service dog Mam" she then stated "There are no dogs allowed. The only service dogs allowed are visual and impaired hearing. Look at the sign in the window". She never asked me what my disability was. Which was the first mistake. Secondly as I tried to reply again. "Do you have any idea in regards to the level of discrimination that you are about to embark upon"? She was in rage. However, I personally encountered the same rage from this very woman a few months back. Nonetheless, I asked the postal rep her name and she said "I'm the only one working here so everyone knows who I am". I then asked if I could record this conversation? She declined. I then asked if I could record the establishment? She declined. I asked for the final time "Are you denying me the right to deliver my package in a United States Government Facility? She stated again " Service dogs are not allowed unless a person is visual or hearing impaired. Once again she is not a physician and she never asked me my disability. I have never encountered a person who is a public servant with this level, and lack of knowledge in this area where the issue is imperative and pertinent to the courts within a system. I can not believe this woman had the audacity to bring the hood behavior into a government establishment. This woman was trying to argue with me like I was her boyfriend or husband or something. I stepped outside and called 911 the Chicago Police. After about 30 minutes I called again. I knew it would probably be awhile once the dispatcher hear that it was a non emergency. The Chicago Police finally arrived. And this part you are not going to believe. By the way I stepped outside and walked maybe 100 feet from the building as I waited for the police. The police approached me and asked me "what's the problem"? We were standing in front of the building in front of the glass at the post office. When the lady walked to the door. Locked the door and put a sign in the window stating that she will be back at 4:10 p.m. The Chicago Police then knocked on the window but she kept walking. This is where knowing of the law comes in. If this woman felt as though she was right according to the law she could have directed that same energy to the Police. I don't think that she actually believed that I was going to call the police. Hood mentality. This is where the technical issue comes in play and this is the part that may cost you your job and also find you liable in a lawsuit. 1st officers name is Alonso badge #10003, 2nd officers name is Dayao badge # 16567. The beat is 2422 and the time was 1552 hours military time which is 3:52 p.m. The event # which is the body cam from the officers is 09259. This is how a person sills his or her own fate. Been going here for a few years and must have always just been lucky enough to get the gentleman at the counter. Well today I got that lady that I think was referenced in another review and oh my god she was so mean, worse than any DMV person. I swear she doesn't think the people on the other side of the counter are human. She saw me carrying in a handful of small boxes that were clearly kind of heavy, and as I go to put them on the counter she shouts at me to wait at the front in a rude manner and goes on to stall while I stand there holding them and I wanted to set them down not on the ground for my arms sake. Then I get an earful that I'm not allowed to drop off packages, (even though I did just that 3 weeks prior with the gentleman) and she reads me the riot act about how she's been doing this for 30 years and I should go to the Devon post office (not walking distance so not an option but didn't care). read more

It was an amazing post office before the new post woman started working there. She makes mistakes with mails which are very important for everyone. Not only is she extremely insensitive and uncaring, she bullies older people. At times the post office is closed during the operating hours. read more
