Lady at the front desk working was extremely rude. She has glasses and was wearing a bun. From the moment I walked in she was already annoyed, and when I asked for some assistance I was met with a rude tone and some attitude when telling me what I need to do. She then proceeded to tell me to hurry up, when I had only been in there for about 3 minutes. She continued to use a belittling tone when speaking with me and made the entire visit feel uncomfortable and as if I was a young child being scolded. I didn't get to see her name but she shouldn't be working in a custom service environment like this if she seems to have such a problem with helping people out with a few questions. read more

The info on the govt website doesn't match the info the postal employees are giving me. Can I blame them for that? No. I came to the post office to mail the urn containing my deceased grandmother's ashes to a cemetery in Bedford, Indiana so she could be buried with her mom. This task was not for the faint-hearted. At the post office, I had to buy a box, bubble wrap, strong packing tape with threads in it; then box it up myself. Of course I got dust on my hands. The weight was 20 lbs and the cost $72. But at least someone will have to sign for delivery. People get VERY UPSET when the US Postal Service loses Grandma's cremains. On the plus side, the USPS goes to every rinky-dink unincorporated town in America. If they can't deliver, no-one can. I think I'll go have coffee now. read more

This post office is very convenient when I'm in the Skokie area, after work. I'm a regular at many of the post offices in Chicago, and I have yet had any troubles at this post office. I knock on wood when I say this, but all of my packages have made it to where they needed to go, and my service here has been very great. I seem to come here when it's not busy. I guess I'm lucky on that part because most post offices have bad reviews about how busy it gets, and the customers always complain about the service they receive. Out of all the post office that I visit, other than the post office in Englewood; this location does not have a self service machine. I guess there is a reason for that because it may not be as busy as the others in Chicago. There is also no need to worry about parking because this location has that as well. read more

So ordinarily I wouldn't review a post office, but I've come here probably 4 random times in the past year and every time it's been a breeze, and the folks at the counter have been very nice and helpful. I believe the woman last week was named Patrice, and she was very friendly and courteous. I don't ever use the Evanston post offices because I've only had bad experiences there, but I've never had a bad experience at this Skokie location. read more

Finding this place was a happy accident! I had stopped by next door to the Hallmark shoppe to purchase thank you cards for some friends. The Skokie Post Office on Main Street closes at 4:00PM so I was in a rush to purchase cards, pick up my Portillos, and speed (I mean proceed within the designated traffic codes, Officer) to the Post Office to send in my cards before they closed. *note*- this location closes at 5:00PM! It saved me so much time and the lines inside went by really fast! They even had an "island" so you can write your letters- yes I as "that" person who stepped aside to draft out letters while other people watched. The employee working was super friendly and pleasant and I am impressed by the speed and service of this place! There were two tellers when I went but there was still a line. I am so glad this place exists! They also sell greeting cards and boxes. 4.5 stars. It really seems like this Post Office runs hot or cold. I have been here a few times in the past weeks to mail some packages out and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with it. I think because of the storefront and the fact that the service they provide are all pay stuff-sorry, no package pickup here, the pace moves along like say a....an actual business. A lot of it will be DIY, it seems like they are staffed just enough to just man all the registers or have one person rotate on break-the front end is hardly manned other than having someone come up every once in a while to clean up. The biggest complaint of the post office, any post office is its incredibly long line and sluggish pace. I've never really experienced anything like that here, unless it's usually with someone who has problems communicating in English-customer not staff. The staff is pretty friendly it seems like there are regulars-weird to have regulars in a post office. A lot of the postal workers there seemed to know customers by name, and I swear a person just walked in to say 'hi.' The drop boxes even seem to move faster-as an avid Netflixer I purposely hold on to my DVDs so I can get them in this box. Often times I get the 'We've received 'Garden State'" (just an example) e-mail the same day I sent it out! read more

When coming in I asked for help. She immediately tried to brush me away. Everytime I asked for instructions she gave it to me step at a time. So I had to go back in line instead of being helped. So a 10 minute service turned into 1 hour because the person at the front decided to be rude. This only happens to me because I asked for help. I will never go here ever again! read more

Use e-mail or the Pony Express instead! This place is the opposite of the other Skokie Post Office. It seems as if lazy, dumb, and rude Postal employees are dumped to the Skokie Blvd. location- sort of like moving the worst employees to some outpost rather than deal with them at the Post Office on Madison Ave. These Postal Employees at Skokie Blvd. are not helpful. They don't know the products they are selling! Ask them to explain the difference between first class, parcel plus, and priority, and they just tell you the price difference. Try it! My letter carrier, however, rocks! This man walks through fire and ice to bring the mail. But this place? These people must have connections, because they did not get their job there by working hard or proving their smarts...no, they got dumped there and are protected. Worst service...and what is it with the one guy who works there? The rudest person I ever met at any Post Office! What a dumb, unhappy, unpleasant little clown of a man! He actually stares at customers, waiting...waiting...waiting for retirement day or for a chance to say "No!" I was there every Monday for four years. Now I drive the extra mile out of my way to go to Skokie's OTHER post office, on Madison Ave. That place rocks! This office on Skokie Blvd. also closes 15 minutes early each day, and they lie about it. Twice I've knocked on the door and they say closed, but it was 4:45pm! Who supervises them? Moved here from Florida and this facility is horrible. Went there at 9:05 am to drop off a package. Waited 4 minutes before she came up front. Told me to "just set the package over there". Then went to the back again. It showed it was scanned the next day received. The commercial says packages "on time", what a joke less than 90% on time. USPS has very limited accountability. Morons. Sent a package via priority to the west coast. 3 days later the only tracking shows it's in NY. It's going the wrong way. I hate USPS. Last time I send anything time sensitive through them. They whine about getting less customers but guess what ? FedEx and UPS rarely have this problem and that's with me using them for over 10 years. I always have problems with usps. This is my favorite post office because there are hardly ever long lines and the postal employees are friendly. There's a large parking lot so that's never a problem and it's conveniently located across from Jewel (LOL!). If you come here and want to go back north on Skokie Blvd, you have to go through the back of the car wash and then you'll see the intersection so you can turn left. read more

Don't know why I'm surprised that the post office has such terrible customer service. THE WORST!

WARNING: THIS PLACE IS A SCAM! RACIST AND CARELESS EMPLOYEES! By far the worst experience I've ever had in my life!!! Two weeks ago I went to this post office to send a package out to my mom I was treated like a criminal in this office. I was weighing my options on how to send the package, and for it to get there as soon as possible. I put the contents in a box and simply asked one of the employees there to weigh the box for me and see how much it would be, she weighed it and gave me a total, I thanked her and wanted to go back to the packaging counter to finish up when she says to my friend and I "You have to buy tape, and one of you has to stay here by me so YOU (to me) don't steal the box without paying." I couldn't believe it, I stepped aside to finish sealing the box and writing my info on it so that I wouldn't hold up the line of people waiting to pay and get out of that hell hole. The lady wouldn't let both of us walk back to the counter with the box until I left $40 cash with her just to be able to be treated like a normal person sending a package and not a thief! Now it's been over 2 weeks and the package is no where to be found and I've dealt with numerous rude employees that only have one thing to say "It's not guaranteed that your package will be delivered and you will not get your money back on the shipping because it's not our fault." REALLY?! Who's fault is it, MINE??? DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT use USPS and especially not this location!!! I don't give one star ratings unless they're well deserved, this place earned ZERO stars unfortunately I can't rate it that low. read more

This is the worst post office I have ever been to! First off during lunch time - they are CLOSED. I have never heard of a business closing for lunch let alone one that is government run. What about all the people that take off lunch specifically to go to the post office to mail stuff? What are they supposed to do? I have never ever come in here and saw less than 8-10 people standing in line which is a min of 30 min. Everyone comes in with random requests and some take 5 min and some 1 min - why don't they organize people into lines as they come in. They would save themselves time and their customers. I often come i and people get antsy and I am waiting one day for their to be a brawl or something because people are fed up with this place. I came here a while back to send out 30 large envelopes. They made me buy a ridiculous amount of stamps and stand there for 20 min while I put all the stupid stamps one. Why couldn't they just charge me for one and meter them later and just charge me? So stupid! Or have a machine where you put all the envelopes in and it will sort them and count the cost. The only reason people still use them is because of the cheap postage nationwide and especially international. But if I actually want something to arrive on time I would never use them. read more
