I have had some recent issues with very valuable mail having gone missing, and the response has…read morebeen so incredibly lackluster. The worker who initially started the investigation, forgot to retain a copy of the tracking number that I gave her regarding it so when she called the carrier who supposedly delivered the package with my tracking number that was on the completely opposite at the end of town, she was unable to actually confirm the package that she said it was was the one that was delivered. The next day I showed up in person, I'll be at shortly after hours because I had a second package that showed like it was missing and I wanted to try and get an answer before the long weekend had passed, and the guy who answered the window in the mail room could not have been any angrier and essentially yelled at me and treated me like I was an idiot. I work with a public facing job and I would never speak to somebody the way that he did. Three missing packages and they all seem to wanna suggest that it is me sending in the wrong address to someone. One of the packages that went missing was free and yet they still were trying to tell me that it was a scam when it wasn't even a purchased item. They're being intentionally deceitful or deceitful as a function of laziness, but in any case, what a horrifically run outfit.. Even if there is a explanation that does not include intentional deceit from the post office, the individual who spoke to me today talk to me in such a rude manner, I think the review is warranted for that alone. I am always looking to give people the benefit of the doubt and to be kind and gracious whenever possible, but the person who dealt with me today was just a straight up asshole who acted like he had told me something 10 times even though it was the first time I've ever spoken to him.

This complaint is more about the postal carriers who deliver mail than the actual facility, but…read moresince this location is the "hub" from which they leave, it's relevant. Recently we've noticed a decline in the quality of delivery service. Two things stand out: 1) cramming all packages into the mailbox so that they are often bent and/or difficult to remove; 2) not taking outgoing mail even if there is a red flag up. We have had a number of posters ruined because they were stuffed into the mailbox despite the words "do not bend" on them. We've also had packages damaged because so many were crammed into the mailbox. Sometimes stamped outgoing mail is left in the mailbox buried under a pile of incoming mail, despite the red flag being up. It's almost as if postal carriers don't care. Please do better, postal workers. It only takes a couple of minutes to put packages on the stoop instead of forcing all of them in the mailbox, and aren't you supposed to take stamped outgoing mail? Why would you put the red flag down, then leave the mail?

Recently, I had to drop off a returned package at the USPS in Northbrook.  There was only one staff…read moremember behind the counter, a tall and thin middle-age black woman, whom I have encountered numerous times in the recent years.  As soon as I walked up and put the package on the counter, without any greetings to me, this woman pointed to a tablet in between her and me, and said "do the survey" in a tone that was like ordering me.  There were 3 emojis in the tablets, a smiley face, a neutral face, and an unhappy one.  I was unprepared, in a hurry, and didn't have time to think or ask, and just hit the smiley face.  She then scanned my package, gave me a receipt and said "here you go".  I said "thanks", and she said "you are welcome", and that was it.  What kind of survey was that?  How could they expect the customer to do a survey before any service was done?  What's the purpose of doing such a survey?  And doing the survey right in front of the staff member was just awkward!  It rendered the survey meaningless. This USPS used to be fully staffed back in the day.  There were a couple of friendly staff members whom I truly miss.
