I mailed my federal tax return via certified mail from this Post office on March 14, 2025. After not receiving my tax refund, I checked the tracking number. number. It showed that the return had never left the post office, When I talked them, they said they couldn't find the return and had no idea what happened to it. read more

I enjoy sending small surprises (cards, gifts, candy, etc) to loved ones across the miles and use all supply chains. For smaller mailings, I'm often obliged to use USPS and this location is preferable because it's less crowded and has a parking lot. My mailings have increased post- COVID19, particularly for elderly loved ones and framily first responders. I shop to keep the seasoned citizens "indoors" and to save those who are not working from home or sheltering in place time when they're off. The post office started off with clear tarps hanging from the work stations to protect workers and customer but have graduated to this covering. I'm so appreciative of their work and the experience overall. I deducted a star because the hours are rather limited given its volume and 50% of the time on weekends, there's at least one employee who calls in which results in longer lines. read more

The people that work here have the worst attitudes. Even if you are nice they hate you. Beware: their outdoor drop box gets robbed on a regular basis. So, you must bring your mail to the indoor drop box for safety unless you want birthday cards stolen and checks white washed. read more

This is the nicest group of postal workers and the most efficient, well-stocked facility with easy lot parking! There is rarely a line more than a few people long and the line moves quickly. Wow, this place never ceases to amaze me. Even if there's only one person in line, you are guaranteed a 20 minute wait. The one employee working there is so desensitized from dealing with constantly angry people that she can't possibly go past turtle speed. Want better and faster service? Go to Forest Park- it's close by. The RF post office building is a disgrace to the community. Couldn't our tax dollars at least spring for a few gallons of paint and some spackle? read more

You might have to wait in a line but you are guaranteed to get knowledgeable service with a smile. This post office is well stocked with supplies as well. They always advise me on the least expensive and fastest most secure way to mail my packages. Often I'm shipping overseas. I don't mind the wait for this service, ironically the supervisor of this facility is a big pill. read more

I highly recommend this post office if you live in the area. It is by far the friendliest and most courteous post office that I have ever been to. I particularly like this post office because of its convenient parking lot and the fact that I have never had a long wait. read more

I am usually a big fan of USPS. It is usually less expensive than UPS or FedEx depending on what you are mailing and its usually an easy in, out and done. I was here the other week to mail a small package - it was already addressed and ready to go. They only had two employees working in the entire facility, only one at the front desk and I probably had to wait in line for about 20 minutes. Quick, convenient, and standard list of services. It's small but it gets the job done. Typically two or more of the windows are open, so the line is never long. There's a dedicated parking lot if you must drive. The hours are a bit limited [M-F 9am-5pm; Sat 9am-12pm], and that'd be my only complaint. read more

I live in Chicago where the post office service stinks and the attitude of the employees is miserable and combative. I drive from the center of Chicago to River Forrest. The staff at this place are wonderful, personable, customer service oriented, pleasant. We can't ask for anything more. THANKS to all of them. If I mail something from Chicago it can take 7-10 days to deliver. If i mail from here, it can be done overnight...even from River Forrest, Il to Michigan City, Ind! read more

I dropped off a letter in the drive up bin in the back of the post office on Tuesday, March 11. It took 3 days for it to leave the River Forest post office. My letter to Dayton, Ohio didn't show up until Monday, March 17. From now on, I'll go back to using the Oak Park post office (it's the regional one that all the surrounding post offices route thru) and also dropping it off INSIDE the post office, never again on the street bins. read more

It took moving to Forest Park for me to realize that I miss the River Forest post office. Since this review is for the River Forest office, I won't get into my rant on the Forest Park office. Should you be inclined you can read my separate review for them. The good: The River Forest branch is always helpful, and Faith is great. The mail service in that area is also great, I miss it... Our carrier would actually leave behind notices when a piece of registered mail could not be delivered. I rarely if ever received incorrect mail, a common problem where I live currently. Our carrier even one day attempting to carry a horribly packed box that was large, awkward and coming open. Luckily I happened to see her handling this monstrosity so my husband and I could come and help. Points for even attempting that. I'm surprised they didn't leave a notice for me to come get it myself! The bad: Even the River Forest branch who I typically love is not immune some issues. This past Christmas eve day they had only one person working the windows with a line out to the front doors. Because of this hold up inside there was a line waiting to park in their smallish lot. Outside of the holiday season, there used to be two people working the windows at any given time, although lately I've been seeing just one person. There is one woman there who can be a little salty, but wouldn't you be if you were the only one working a line? Another minus is the limited hours of 9-5 M-F. No going after work. You'll have to go during lunch, or on Saturday between 9-12. (Or there's always Oak Park...wait time there is just as bad if not worse, and parking can be challenging at times.) While the wait time here in River Forest does vary depending on how many windows are open, everything I've ever sent out has made it on time, if not early. Regardless of these few negatives, I will still go to Forest Park for any postal needs before I consider going elsewhere. read more

I called this post office, not thinking anyone was going to even answer. I sent a friend a package over night but the tracking didn't show that it was going to be delivered until tomorrow and she needed it today. Anywhoo, I called and this lady picked up on the first ring! Unheard of if you've ever had to call a post office today. She confirmed that it was out for delivery today. Easy peasy. Awesome. I visited this post office this morning. They only have 9 parking spots. The post office employees use these parking spots, while I and a line of cars behind me waited 20 minutes for one of these spots to open up!!! There are problems with parking at this post office every time I come there. That or the line inside is long!!! Why is so difficult to send a package? 10 people in line with packages, certified mail, and international mailing...and only ONE worker! Took me 25 minutes to get out of there! And the entire time that the poor solo worker was busting his butt, the supervisor woman just stood there behind the counter and didn't lift a finger to help at all. ONLY the government would put up with a supervisor or manager like that! In any other store or business, a supervisor/manager would jump in and get the job done. Not at the USPS. read more

I live in this town over 30 years, I liked this post office, but on March 5th, I ran fast trying to get to the door before they close, it was Saturday, my watch was 1 minute before 12pm, but the door was lucked, there still have 3 customers inside, I have this letter suppose to mail that day to IRS, it was urgent, if it weren't to IRS, I would wait until Monday to mail it. So I asked if they could open the door for me, it seems no one would. at this time a costumer came out, I thought for a second, that should I go in or not, but because I really need to mail it, so I got in from exit door, well, this lady maybe a manager of this post office, started saying in rude tone, telling me don't use the exit door come in! the office is closed! you shouldn't do that!. It made me felt so bad, and sad, I apologized... I just thought she should talk to her costumer in better way. This is just post office, not supreme court. read more
