Great customer service, extremely positive, came in in a bad mood, left feeling happy and excited for the rest of the day.

A late Poshmark sell prompted me to take my shipment with me to work. With my current work schedule, I had no interest in waiting a few days to ship my item on my day off. As a Poshmark Ambassador, I always strive to ship my items within at least two days which keeps my shipping status at 1.3 average days. This post office was my life saver due to its 5:00 PM closing time on a Friday, and it being along my route towards Dwight D. Eisenhower Expressway. I am also grateful that it is near my job too because I did not want to have to place my package inside of a blue collection box. During my visit, there were absolutely no customers inside. Walking up to the counter, I joked with the clerk that it appeared as if they were closed which struck up a brief conversation. The clerk mentioned that it was likely due to the recent construction. As someone who visits post offices regularly whether it be for Poshmark or eBay shipments, the postal clerk presented one of the friendliest vibes during our brief encounter. I was on my way in minutes after the clerk weighed and scanned my package. I am terrible at doing the surveys pertaining to my visits at post offices, but best believe I always share some sort of a review. Lorayne, the counter clerk, was so sweet helping me sort out postage to Chile and didn't say a word about the package being addressed in pink marker and covered in hearts. My eldest has started a new pen pal hobby and likes to post big clunky letters and parcels- so that means lots of trips to the post office to weigh things and complete customs forms. The main post office is not my jam for several reasons ... hard to find parking... long, slow lines... staff members who step away for long periods while 15 people wait in line. Had to drop off a few things to ship today and I really like this post office location. There's usually slow traffic turning in and the parking lot is spacious. I didn't take any photos just because of wearing gloves and being caution of not spreading germ during this time. This location is clean with well stocked items. The assistant helping out was very polite and we have had good customer service here. She was quick and took care of all our needs. We had to send out a small package- only a few pounds and ending up being $9. Seemed a bit high for the cost but we had to send it. To avoid any lines I definitely suggest coming in at random hours during the day. This location is open Monday-Friday 9-5PM and 9-12PM on Saturday. read more

I loathe going to this post office because the service here is absolutely terrible. There is ALWAYS a giant line and the ladies checking people out are unbelievable slow and ask a million unnecessary questions. I never have these issues at the Forest Park PO or the other Oak Park PO. On my most recent visit I was accused of trying to pay with a counterfeit $10 bill ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Who in the world counterfeits $10?!?! After consoling with 2 other employees and me arguing that it was real I still ended up having to pay with a credit card. Too bad no stars are not an option. Received a slip in my mailbox for a parcel. Following day I went to the PO to pick it up. After 20 minutes (10 minutes in one line and then handed off to someone else) it was decided that my package wasn't there. Perhaps the carrier is re-delivering. Wonderful. Go back home and drive around to find the carrier. Find her on the next block. I hand her the slip (she's sitting in the truck, door open, air on) and she hands me the package. "I need a signature"....I sign. The box label clearly states for carrier to leave if no answer!!! Stupid! When I got home, there was no re-delivery slip in the box but she had noted on the box "2nd attempt".....STUPID. Next day (Saturday) I'm home working in the yard and notice the mail carrier walking on the other side of the street with another package sticking out of her bag. I flag her down and walk to her. Ask her if the package is mine. She asks if I live here; YES. Hands me the package, again, wants a signature. I again point out that the label states for her to LEAVE IT. Her response. OH. Today came home (Thursday) to yet another slip in my mailbox. Wish I could keep the people I purchase from from shipping USPS. THEY SUCK! read more

This is our "new" south branch. Actually, it was probably built more than five years ago, but I still miss our "old" south branch, conveniently located in our South Oak Park business district. Oh, well. I guess this one is roomier and has convenient free parking. It also has a very handy drop box located a block or so east that is set up with a little driveway so you can put your letters in the box without getting your fat ass out of your car. I mean, really, if we wanted exercise we would just deliver the damn mail ourselves. There is almost always a line. I don't know how they manage that. read more

While the location isn't as convenient as the old one on Oak Park Ave., customer service here has been quicker and more polite than it was there, in large part because one of the counter clerks didn't move with the branch. I have seen some rudeness, but that has been in no small part (though not entirely) the result of rude customers. There are also times when lines are long, but if you don't come at the obvious rush times (beginning of the day, lunchtime, end of the day), it's usually not bad. Also, people coming unprepared or with complicated needs can slow things considerably, and they don't always cope with that well. Still, I just went in at lunchtime and got out quite quickly. My experience here has generally been positive, especially when I have been the one with the complicated needs. And if there's a long line here, go to Forest Park PO; they're always slow, but hardly anyone goes there. read more

I'm surprised they have 1.5 stars. And I was debating whether to leave a review, because I didnt want to give them even 1 star. I've had multiple issues with this post office, but today was the last straw. We were expecting a very important package. Online said it was out for delivery today. My husband took the day off of work and stayed home in the evening, when I went out, specifically to be home when the package arrived. It never did, and he recieved an email stating "delivery attempted no access to delivery location"....So you couldn't get access to MY FRONT DOOR?!?! I have no gates, nothing obstructing access to my front door. And if for some crazy reason, he didnt hear a knock or the doorbell, we have a RING doorbell, that videos anyone that comes near our front lawn or on our property. There was never even an attempt to deliver the package. The post office is full of shit. I'm not surprised they've lost business to companies like FedEx and UPS. I order a lot of things online for our business. I'm going to start requesting that anything I order be sent any other way besides USPS. I dont care if that means its carrier pigeon. Don't use this post office! The "supervisor", Mary Smith, is very unprofessional. I went to ask about a missing package and a mailman(carrier 63) who delivers in my area, but she refused to come out and talk to me. Instead she sent a phone number up by someone else. When I walked out I IMMEDIATELY called her and she answered and spoke with me for over 5 minutes, so why couldn't she come up front(?) ****0 Stars**** Awful service... We moved from River Forest, which had excellent mail service, to Forest Park which has service worse than when I lived in Chicago. Dealing with the Forest Park post office aunties on Garfield, and the carrier service here is the pits. Just to give you a sense of our mail volume, when living elsewhere with normal service, my husband I would receive at least one piece of mail (if not more) everyday. In the 5 months we've lived in Forest Park, we go days with no mail and then our mailbox will be stuffed full and items ripped like previous review mentions. We have left outgoing mail and they do not take it. We also constantly get mail that is not ours. We receive mail for the same house number one street over, and we often receive mail for our neighbors three doors down. I've also had neighbors hand me, or leave behind mail that they accidentally receive. We also experience problems regarding USPS package delivery. I just had one package show up soaking wet, torn (probably because it was wet) with 3 of the 7 items inside broken. The items inside were each individually bubble wrapped. I'm waiting to hear how the shipper would like me to proceed. TBC... I had another package that was sent via DHL, and then passed to USPS when a delivery attempt was unsuccessful, although I was home all day that day... Anyway, once it was passed on to USPS I called the 1116 Garfield P.O. for two days trying to track it down, and leaving messages like a chump. Finally at one point when calling I accidentally hit the wrong selection that brought me to a human! I was told the package was out for delivery. DHL had attempted delivery on 1/7, USPS got it to me on 1/10. A third package was sent to me via registered mail. On 1/13 I tracked the package on USPS.com and it said it was out for delivery on 1/9, and that was the last update. No mention of an attempted delivery, and no pink card was left behind by the carrier. I called the Forest Park post office on 1/14, and after a lot of confusion with a man who could not understand my street name, I was finally told that they attempted delivery and the package was returned to their branch. When I asked why there wasn't a notice left, I was told one should have been mailed to me.... Well that's real helpful when my service is spotty. Not to mention, aren't the carriers to leave those notices behind at the time of attempted delivery? I would think 5 days would be enough time to mail me a notice if they're not leaving one behind...but I guess when they only deliver the mail once or twice a week, those too will be delayed. When I went in to pick up the package, the first thing I was asked, "Do you have a pink notice card?" Oh, this is rich... I then proceeded to answer asking the question, "What is the protocol after an unsuccessfully delivery attempt?" and the woman behind the counter looked confused and asked, "What do you mean?"... I replied, "What do you do when no one is home and the package requires a signature? Do you leave a pink notice card behind, or do you mail a pink notice card? She responds, "It depends on the carrier." Huh, Really!? No protocol at this branch, and I've since opened a case with USPS about all the abysmal service issues we're experiencing. A serious overhaul of 1116 Garfield Street is in order. Because of these issues with the Forest Park post office, I've avoided sending out anything with them, even a greeting card. I only go to the River Forest office for outbound. Everything I've sent out from RF has been handled well, and is never lost or damaged, and people are pleasant. I understand that the USPS is being squeezed by our government, and I don't want to see them go privatized, but something needs to change, especially at the Garfield Street, Forest Park office. 5/2/14: After filing multiple complaints w/USPS I was told I would be contacted by my branch manager. Never got that call. While filing the complaint I was informed that my area does not have a dedicated carrier, and that carriers from surrounding areas are covering my part of Forest Park near Circle and 290. Mail still comes ripped, in fact a magazine arrived this week missing the cover. When I called the local office about this I was told that it happened in processing (apparently she's psychic) and that it should have been noted and put in a plastic sleeve. It came in nothing because I'm sure the carrier was doing what they always do, which is to fold items in half, creating more bulk, and then jamming it in the mail box. Something is bound to tear while going in or out when you wad it up! Between USPS and the UPS man that is allowed to smoke disgusting cigars in the truck with parcels, leaving a stench on your new items....the delivery service here is deplorable. The only change taken place since the alderman's meeting in Feb. on delivery issues, is now we get delivery on more of regular basis....now that the snow is gone. Why is this location wasting government/taxpayer dollars by being open? I mean when it is open from 8:30 am to 5 pm, who does that help?

I mean, it's a post office. It's fine. The only thing I can say is that it looks rather run down on the inside. It looks like when it was first built they had big plans for it with a separate counter for buying packing supplies, cards, and shipping tubes/box etc. but now the counter is just empty and makes the place look somewhat abandoned. It is just a post office though, and one doesn't really go in there for the ambiance. It's functional, the staff is friendly and helpful, and even if there is a long line (which is rare), it usually goes pretty quickly. read more

I am a professional drummer, and I have been buying my drumsticks, from a manufacturer, known as ,"Cooper Groove, LLC" in Chicago for the past 2 years. These sticks are the best on the market. They are made in Illinois, and customized by a company in Oak Park. Everything about the product is great, except for the fact that they are shipped through the absolutely useless Oak Park Post Office. Every time he ships me my supply of sticks, they sit at the Post Office in Oak Park, for weeks before they actually leave for my address in Massachusetts. An order that Cooper Groove sent to me on June 11, through the Oak Park branch, has still not left that office, as I write this on July 18. I thought that it was illegal to stall parcel delivery, for no other reason than the Post Office cannot handle the responsibility. I have paid for the sticks. Be careful if you put anything in the drop box!! Every single thing I have mailed from their Dropbox never arrived! I kept thinking maybe I did something wrong or it was a fluke, but 4 times is enough when any other post office I mail from does just fine, and my cards arrive to where they are sent. I have been staying in Forest park for a couple of years now and never had a problem with USPS....TILL I dealt with this one. They started off delivering my packages to me and I would receive all of them, then they go to not leaving a USPS slip and loosing two not one but two of my packages. When I tracked one of my packages on-line it said delivered on the 20 of Jan, but i never had gotten it, its been 3 weeks and my package has not turned up and the supervisory want to call me a liar saying, "Well it was delivered and you have it," I believe they lost them or delivered to someone else, who ain't given it back. I would love to give negative stars to the post office in the town that I recently moved to. I came in with my baby today and was greeted by GLORIA with "The line starts to your left" there was no one else in line and honestly I didn't realize there was even a proper "line" because I was trying to console my child. I politely told her that and kind of laughed it off and then she said well it's obvious it's states it right over there. Then I told her the reason I was there was because I was trying to track a package and hoping it might of got to the post office before it went out for delivery tomorrow. She said "well didn't they give you a tracking number that you could follow online?" I informed her they did but since I'm new to the area and this is my first time to their post office I was hoping that maybe it had been dropped off at the post office before it went out for delivery. (Where I used to live that was a common practice) she literally grabbed the phone out of my hand as I was getting the tracking number and said I was wasting her time. I was so frustrated I started getting tears in my eyes. My daughter started crying then I grabbed my phone back and said never mind and stormed out. This place is totally unprofessional! I called them today in regards to my package being delivered and never received. I was at home when it should have arrived. No doorbell rang. No package was left. No we missed you note either. Instead they put that the package was delivered and received under the tracking number. This happen to me before with this damn place. I called once in explained my situation to the African american male that answered the phone at (708)848-6601 and he put me on hold for five minutes then came back and hung up on me when he was supposed to contact the mail carrier who "supposedly" came and "delivered" my package. I called SEVERAL times time get someone and got the same individual. I asked to speak to a supervisor then he acted like we was going to help me by AGAIN taking my information and tracking number. He told me he was going to call me back before he left and what do you know I had to call back to see what the hold up was and he left and clocked out for the day. This place is ridiculous. The employees don't know customer service or even tty to empathize or offer a willingness to help you. Like seriously. I'm going to call again and get a manager and report this office. This type of behavior should not be tolerated. You steal packages and you have lazy employees who do a half assed job. That's okay. I will be coming to this office this week in person and I will have a manager take this issue seriously because this is not the first time that this has happened. Worst experience with USPS as of yet. I received a redelivery notification in the mail. I immediately used their online tool to request redelivery. The box for "signature required" was not checked on the pink notification. I waited a few days, my package was not redelivered. I called this post office where my package was being held. They said that a signature was required, and I must sign the pink slip and return it to the mail box. I did so. Still a week has passed and nothing. I called the post office and spoke to the SUPERVISOR, Monday morning (8/11/14) around 7:00 am. I was on hold for over five minutes (pretty sure she forgot I was on the line). She then told me that she couldn't find my package anywhere, and that since it was priority mail express and they only hold those packages for 5 days, it was probably returned to the sender. I NEVER received a final notification, IF this is the case. She was rude and callous with me. It was an extremely unpleasant experience. It's especially frustrating as this is a passport and visa that is needed for my upcoming international travel. They need new oversight. This is why USPS is losing to companies such as FedEx, UPS, DHL. They have better customer service, better customer tools, just better overall. read more

Long lines, etc. But more importantly is that the mail person crams mail in to the box, ripping magazines, checks and contracts are not delivered, and then trying to get a hold of the post master is impossible over the phone ---- and since I work 10-12 hours a day, I am unable to appear at counter. The post person is never paying attention, always jabbering on the phone, listening to music on head phones ---- it's been a nightmare. Gone are the days when the post man was dutiful, attentive, and conscientious, and as far as I am concerned, let the USPS go down in flames and lets go UPS or e-data in the near future. Wish I could leave 0 stars. Last week I had a slip in the mailbox so I signed it and said leave the package by the mailbox. I also signed up for a redelivery. Mail carrier not only ignores the slips and leaves them in the box, he or she never even attempted to redeliver. When I called the "supervisor" said to sign it and leave it by in the mailbox. I told him I did and he just repeated himself. He was incredibly rude so I asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me he doesn't have time for this and hung up on me. I had to walk 2 miles in each direction to get my package. The man I spoke to there told me he would make sure he let the carrier know to leave my packages from now on. So imagine my surprise when I arrive today with a slip in my mailbox and no package. When I called to ask what was going on I spoke to the same horrible man who gave me the same response as last time. This time I asked for his name so I can file a complaint and he hung up on me. The employees are always so nice, and they often have stickers for your little ones. Lines usually move pretty quickly, and there's free parking. Don't understand why anyone battles the traffic to go up to the one on Lake St. where the staff is surly and you have to pay to park. read more
