Meh. It's so frustrating to deal with deliveries here. The system with the yellow slip is rudimentary and just delays everything. Why not invest in some large lockers and leave a key so we can pick up our deliveries when it's convenient? Sidebar: The way that Amazon acts like SVL is the Bermuda Triangle and can't seem to follow a map to get to a home like the rest of us is just bizarre. This causes problems because if unbeknownst to you, Amazon (or Macy's or Target...etc, etc.) uses USPS for a delivery, yep, you guessed it: it will arrive at the post office instead of your porch and you'll be launched into the hamster wheel of trying to retrieve it for days at the SVL post office. I have had three items that said they were "delivered" only to find that the carrier couldn't find the post office and/or my address, and returned them back to Macy's. Do yourself a favor and have everything shipped to your place of work, or to a friend. This system is so flawed!!! read more

I just moved to SVL and seriously this post office has been nothing but a damn headache. When I get a package delivered I have to wait until "it's ready" and go back the next day because it isn't processed, how about just give me my damn package that i paid for!And the hours of this place is ridiculous. Really? Y'all close at 4pm??! People don't get off work until 5-5:30pm. I can't even get my fuckin Christmas cards because they're holding them and by the time I'm off work they're closed. I just want my mail to be delivered efficiently. I don't know how to get my packages delivered consistently and efficiently. When I call to have my questions answered they don't like picking up the phone, good luck. Good luck getting a call back within business hours. I understand there's a lot of things going on with the usps and I've been very supportive and understanding during this time but if this keeps up I can not deal with this kind of business.. USPS step it up.. by the looks of the prior reviews this location has really had a hard time supporting their residents.. and it's not the workers fault, they are just trying to do their jobs in a very unorganized system. read more

Long lines and completely UNDERSTAFFED! These are hardworking employees but are seriously understaffed - especially during the holidays. This a management and leadership issue, the answer is they need more manpower and resources to bring service levels to acceptable standards. Their hours of operation are laughable. You pay for a PO Box you can't even access especially if you work because the lobby hours to get to the boxes are from 9-4pm yet majority of people work until 5 or 6. My mail that I ask them to deliver to my house they hold at their office for days and because I work I can't ever get it. P.O. Boxes should be 24 hours not post office hours. Get more staff or give us SVL residents access to our own mail. Packages are never put in the boxes instead they hold them in the mail room for pick up and their hours are from 9:45-10:45 and then 11:45 -4pm. People work so how can they get their packages? And I finally have a day off it's Jan 2 a Monday at 12:02 pm and they are closed. I have a live animal package mailed priority and I can't pick it up because they don't feel like being open today. I just pretty much moved here to SVL. At FIRST I was a little confused about the 'package' situation (like other residents, I'm sure!) and how to make sure I got them with my physical address and my SVL box # and so fourth. I think I finally got the hang of it. But one thing is for SURE! The 2 main Postal service clerks I usually get helped by: Jo and Christopher. They are BOTH soo nice and they go OUT of their way to help you! They both are always working VERY hard and will always go above and beyond to help you figure out where that package went or help direct you how to find it (website, number, etc!). I know around the holidays it can be hectic over there... but it's not THEIR fault! I do agree that they might be understaffed but those two are always in good spirits and over the holidays they are OVERWORKED I'm sure! I feel for them. I am also very thankful for them because they actually CARE! Some Service Clerks at OTHER Post Offices don't really care. THEY do! We just have to give them some grace at the very busy times. They do the BEST they can! read more

I didn't believe it when people said that this post office would give your packages away to people who they didn't belong to. I was thinking no way. A federal post office would do better than that! Boy was I ever wrong. They put a yellow slip on my SVL Box that stated that I had a package. Now like the rest of the working world, I work the hours they are open. 9-4....give me a break! So I had to wait until Saturday to pick up my package. They gave it away to someone not even related to my box #!!! WTF???? I asked her don't you guys check ID????? Everyone who lives on the Lake side of SVL needs to file a complaint with the USPS customer service number and report it as fraud. This is what I did. Someone needs to check the people who work in this post office! If rheee are enough complaints directed to them, hopefully there will be a full on investigation and get rid of the incompetent employees. read more

There has to be change..Some sort of system..I have been in the Spring Valley area a little over a year and my packages from amazon and every other online store have either been sent back, picked up (stolen) and not by me and or undeliverable. The staff talks to the customers too long so the line drags on even longer. The lines will be out the door because they usually have two or three people on staff. Sometimes only 1! They need more workers to work here because this post office is the worst I've ever had to deal with. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. This post office is a JOKE. Not even just saying this because of the holiday rush. They're a joke even when there's only two people in line. I honestly don't understand how they haven't improved their business after numerous people complained to the post master general and after reading their reviews on here. When they lost my package and I asked them if they had it (while holding one of my other amazon packages) the young female worker replied to me "isn't it in your hands".....I give up. This is the worst post office I have ever had to deal with. I understand that the city requires Spring Valley Lake to disperse their mail as they do but IT'S SO UNORGANIZED!!! I have been waiting two weeks for them to find 4 of my packages that were supposed to have been delivered already. The tracking states it is at their post office but nothing! And then I went in today and someone was standing at the door with it wide open letting everyone know that they were closing early. So inconvenient and probably not the best option during the holidays. The employees are mostly nice but aren't afraid to cop an attitude if they don't like what you have to say. Atmosphere was welcoming and was an overall decent experience. I had to go twice in one day as I came during their "mid-day break" where I was turned away and forced to return later. I found that VERY inconvenient as it really doesn't make sense to close the whole store for an hour during one of it's busiest times in the day. Yet despite that the people were very welcoming and friendly until they have to do something out of the ordinary like help you with picking a box/envelope or if you forget your id for picking up a package, they become very rude. That being said it was decent and frankly is the only option for the area so be prepared and try not to elongate your trip. read more

The staff is always polite, helpful and fast. If only they were there on a regular basis. It seems that every time I go they hand a new printed sign with a new lunch break time. Now it's 10:45-11:45. An Amazon package was mis-delivered. When I inquired at the post office the postal worker was unconcerned and provided me a phone number to get help from management. I called 3 times waited for 4 minutes each time and the call was disconnected ever single time with no one to speak with. I wonder if the postal worker already knew that??? I then called the 800 275 8777 found in the internet and I waited 42 mins. This call was also disconnected, no one answered. In short there is no accountable here from anyone in the postal service. They are paid to sort and deliver mail and given the number of items they handle every day, if they lose packages ever now and then they're ok with that, they are not interested in hearing about customer relations and process improvements, it's not their concern. That's our headache whenever they mis-deliver a package or mail. BTW- My workaround was calling Amazon, I had them note my account that moving forward I prefer to have my packages delivered by UPS or FedEx. read more
