If I could give a half star I would. This place is a customer service nightmare. The fact I can write this review while standing in line should tell you something. It is 4:00 on a weekday and there are 10 people in line and only one person working the counter. They were supposed to hold my mail for four days. I set up the hold, then they didn't hold it and delivered three packages while we were out of town. Luckily my neighbor kept them for us. Then today, two days after our mail ha was supposed to end, I went to the post office to pick it up and it's still being held. AND they've held a package that was supposed to be delivered to say. Of course now they can't find said package. This is just the last in a long string of problems with this post office. The one before this? They wouldn't let me pick up a package that was addressed to me because I didn't not have my current mailing address on my driver's license. Apparently my photo on my DL *and* my passport wasn't enough. The he blamed me for getting upset because he wouldn't give it to me until I produced something that showed my name with that address. Never mind that the state patrol just makes you change your address in the system and not specifically on your physical driver's license. I mean, HOW MANY PEOPLE CARRY A UTILITY BILL AROUND WITH THEM TO PROVE WHERE THEY LIVE??? No wonder the USPS is practically insolvent. I'd never use it if I didn't have to. Run away. It took them 18 rings to answer the phone, right when I was about to give up. Then, they do absolutely nothing to try and help you, but everything in their power to get you off of the phone. Also, they are not doing their job properly as I filed a change of address request 1.5 months ago, and they sent my sister's package back to sender 2 weeks ago. Very unfortunate. I'd ordered some gift bags from e-bay, due to be delivered on Tues 2/19. This was for a very important business event on Mon, 2/25. There was a shipping delay and my order was pushed to today, Fri 2/22, delivery. Not ideal to have to work over the weekend but I could deal with that. This morning I was happy to see the mail truck go by around 10am and thought to myself "yay! if I bust these out today, I won't have to work over the weekend after all". After the mail truck left, I went out to check and "lo and behold" NO PACKAGE. All I got was a "sorry we missed you" notice. Really? I was sitting at my desk watching the mail truck. Nobody got out or even so much as looked at my house. So, I tried calling the post office to find out what happened and when can I get my package...no answer...no voicemail...no machine...nothing. After the phone rang for 3 minutes, it just disconnected. I called 1-800-ASK-USPS and, while the agent was very sympathetic (3 stars for HER, at least) she told me there was NOTHING to be done until tomorrow. She asked if I wanted to file a complaint and I told her "HELL YES". Now I get to go the the post office tomorrow (Sat) morning, hope my package is there, bring it home and spend my Saturday assembling gift bags. I know it's not the end of the world but come on! How difficult is it to drag your butt out of your vehicle and walk 50 ft to my door? Hell, if you saw me in the window, you could have just waved at me to come out and I would have. It's raining but neither of us will melt! AND YOU WONDER WHY THE USPS IS HAVING PROBLEMS! NO SURPRISE HERE. In this day and age, when the word "service" seems to have lost all meaning, a little extra attention to detail goes a long way. Maybe Nordstrom should take over USPS. They have lost my mail 3 times... never called even though they said they would call after 2 weeks of looking for it whether they found the mail or not. Now with this snow I only received mail 1 time this week. I live in a 3 cul de sac neighborhood...our circle never got mail even though we are flat...what does he do on hills. First, there is no one you can call at the post office. The auto-response is terrible, and there is a lengthy wait/hold to make any complaint (greater than one hour). If you are shipping something, try other branch. Like many others have said, the staffs here are horrible. They always try to charge you more by adding something you dont need if you are not careful enough. I also saw them put people on hold for the call and just went on for chat. USPS is terrible enough, and this branch is the worst. The way to prevent bad service is by not using it, try UPS or go to another branch! read more

I only wish there were another PO close by. The customer service is a misnomer. Unbelievable attitudes. They're doing you a favor by waiting on you. Its hard to believe the supervisor (if he/she ever shows up) could be happy with this outfit. Apparently it doesn't matter because they all know their government job is safe no matter what -short of "Going Postal" My fave is seeing a bored worker put up the 'on break, next window' sign and walk away from many people in line leaving one window open with an as bored employee. Not a very responsive post office when trying to solve something by a phone call. Also in the year I lived in this area, I had several packages coming through this office never get to me. Once you get there and deal with people they're quite nice, but the inefficiency is kinda obvious in how they service requests-at least in my case it was. Hate to talk trash about the USPS as I have friends in other states who work in it, but what is, is. :-( read more

This post office sucks!!! I run a internet company about 10 blocks from them, and have had a priority mail pick up every day for the past 5 years at 2:30pm. My driver told me he was going on vacation so he would see me in three weeks. I said "yeah for you buddy...enjoy." The last 10 days have been HELL. I have had to call to get my mail picked up, and I even went down and dropped off my mail at the post office. when I talked to the manager he said "Oh, we don't have a driver to take his place." I said "WHAT???" So when someone goes on vacation hundreds of people don't get mail in Shoreline? That's the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Then when I called the next day, the "manager" said "oh, I have four people covering your route, but if nobody is there for your pick up you will have to bring it to me. I am just flored. The young man at the counter is not to blame for my one star. He was the only person working at the counter but seemed to be kind and patient with each customer. The problem is that HE WAS THE ONLY PERSON WORKING and the wait just to do simple things was terribly long. After I completed my transaction with him (I had to pick up a certified letter so had no choice of locations), I asked to speak with the manager. Susan Mudaliar came out and I expressed my complete dissatisfaction with the service provided. Several customers agreed and/or added their comments, as well. Her response was "you don't think we know that"? Unbelievably unprofessional. I have two family members who are postmasters. I want to support the USPS but any visit to this location sends me to UPS or FedEx, again, for awhile. read more

I love this place! I'm giving it five stars for: Kindness, recommendations, bravery, patience and observations! I frequently go to this post office. Every time I go, the tellers are polite and helpful. I do notice people complain every other time I come in. If you go to any post office, be sure to make time for it. It might take more than 5 minutes because people forget, (especially at rush times, or the holiday season), that hundreds of people use the same one. If there is a line and you complain in 5 minutes, you need to learn patience. Also, yelling at tellers will not help. It's not their fault their manager or their manager's manager scheduled two tellers, or etc. I really think theses tellers are great. It's the insane world of rushing a holes, people that can't figure out that the world doesn't revolve around them, that yelling at tellers will help the line move faster, that's the problem, not this place. This goes for any post office, but this one is mine. If you don't like standing in line, purchase a scale and print out your stamps, etc at home. It's that simple. Thank you kind tellers for helping me for about 7 years going here. I appreciate you, the money you've saved me, the mistakes I've made and you have caught and the smiles I get when I hand you my item! You are some brave and patient souls. read more

Worst postal service ever. I fill with dread every time I have to come pick up mail here. Today I got there about 30 mins after they opened to pick up a package, there was 1 person in line, and 1 person being helped at the counter. There was also a group standing in line at the Will Call door, but I figure, the CS line is shorter. So I went ahead and stood in the customer service line. By the time I got to the clerk, she actually told me that they don't retrieve packages there, I have to go to the Will Call door. When did this become a rule and where is a sign that says that?! So I have to leave and stand in another line for the Will Call. I mentioned this to the Will Call clerk, and she said they started doing this when the line is long. There was maybe 1 person behind me at the time. So the only reason I can think of is the CS clerk is just too damn lazy to go retrieve my package and instead she just wanted to stand there to help the ONE person behind me. I'm not saying that's not a good idea when the line is indeed long, but put up some f&^*&g signs people! read more

Use the North City Post Office or the Greenwood Post Office. The Bitterlake Post Office has descended into leaderless chaos. Most of the time I have to tell the person how to do the transaction...they don't know how to enter my information or how to submit the transaction on the computer. It's a waste of time and energy. If you want to spend time with your fellow humans and bond over a negative situation, go there around 4:30 on a weekday, get in line, and watch the madness unfold... read more

Wow, the people here have never been friendly but I always gave them the benefit of the doubt. But today I was proven wrong. Went to mail an international package which I've never done. First of all, when I go up to the counter after being asked how I can be helped, the man that was 'helping' me (I think his name is Raheem, he had dreadlocks) just suddenly leaves while I'm talking mid sentence. He went to go say hi real quick to a friend, which is fine by me, but a "I'll be right back" or a "sorry about that" when he returned would have been nice/expected. But that's not even it. Raheem was very annoyed that I didn't have a customs sheet ready (like I said before, I don't usually mail international so I truly didn't know). In a very cold/annoyed and impatient tone he told me that he was going to stop the transaction until I go to the back wall and get a customs label. I was holding my 2.5 yr old son and went back to get one when he started yelling at me from across the room (in front of the whole line) "it's right in front of your face. Nope, nope to your right, it's there. Nope. To your righhht. I told you it was on that's side. Right in front of your face!" At this point I was embarrassed/flustered/ and trying to look for the label while juggling my kid. I told him, "I'll look for it on my own thank you!" He yelled and rolled his eyes "I was just trying to help!" I went up to him and said that instead he was just humiliating me in front of everyone and that there was no reason for him to yell at me especially in front of my son. He gave me the hand, And he yelled "well there's no reason for you to be STUPID in front of your son!" I kid you not, he said that!!!! At first I was just thinking he was a disgruntled jerk that hates his job, but there is no excuse to be that blatantly rude to a customer. For something as simple as mailing a package to escalate that quickly because of his bad attitude is unfortunate. The good news is I spoke with the manager and at least she heard me out...she knew something was wrong from all his yelling. Sigh. I won't be coming back here which is too bad since I live so close. I'm still really mad. My son asked why that man was mean to me. That's what upsets me the most. Too bad there's people out there like that. read more

I've never had to deal with a more frustrating post office. I ordered a hold on my mail and due to rampant mail theft I selected the option to pick up my mail in person at the end of the hold. Since the instructions never said where I was to pick up my mail and there are two other post offices nearby as well, I tried calling here to confirm it was the correct location. I literally called for a half hour (during their business hours) and on my first call someone picked up but immediately hung up on me (didn't even say hello, just didn't want to deal with the phone call). After that the phone rang and rang and no one picked up my call once - in 30 minutes of calling back to back! (And there's no option to leave a voicemail.) I finally called the Greenwood branch who picked up on my first call and was able to help me/confirm that the 145th branch was my pickup location. The next day when I went in to get my mail as I waited in line I watched the phone ring and ring and no one ever picked it up. Why even have a phone if you won't answer it? Also they have a door for mail hold pickup with instructions to ring the bell once and wait... I tried that and surprise surprise, no one answered it so I waited in line which took absolutely forever. (While in line I watched other people also try ringing the bell and waiting to no answer.) The second time I put a hold on my mail, when I went to pick my mail up at the end I missed them closing by literally a couple minutes. The staff was there but refused to help me. I understand they're closed but come on, it was by a couple minutes and it would have been the neighborly thing to just pass me my mail that is already all collected together. Would have taken 1-2 minutes tops. So far I feel like no one at this branch cares 2 hoots about helping any of their customers/neighbors and somehow we're more of a burden to them. I have had a PO Box at this station for years. The people in charge of the boxes are clueless. I have asked for a vacation mail transfer 3 times. I have filled out the paper work 3 times per there request. Now they forward a few letters and rest of the mail return to sender with no forwarding address.. When you talk to them in person no one seems to know who is in charge of the Boxes and point fingers at someone else.. I can't believe these people have jobs and are not replaced.. read more

I agree with previous posters, worst service ever. I tried to mail a 2 day express package and presented it at the desk as the note on the drop-box for the automated postal service said (often the box will not open so there goes any benefit from the automated option). The clerk says it was prepaid and ignored my "One is 2-day express" and told me to put the package on the end of the counter and waved the next customer up. So, 8 days later the package arrived. I tried to get my money back and the clerk could not even read a tracking report! She said it was mailed on the 10th and arrived on the 13th when the report showed it was mailed on the 8th and arrived on the 16th. Never had shipped 2 day express before and there are no helpful instructions. Apparently the drill is to present it at the counter and fill out a special form. No reference to that anywhere. Very poor customer service. I hope the one in North City is better! read more
