A lot has changed in eight years. Mostly because of Internet traffic and shippers cutting into post office requirements. Now I can just walk in at any time, and mostly be the only customer there. Sometimes two or three people, but the line goes a lot faster than years past. A LOT can happen in eight years. Not to mention they took away the lobby after 7:00 p.m., and also the drive through drop-off outside, just so you know. That was convenient, as often I just had one or two things to mail. Maybe I was too lazy to walk the twenty feet to the door. The usual stock of shipping materials. No, don't ask for tape. You have to buy your own. And also, did you know it's illegal to take first class shipping boxes and reverse them so as to get free boxes? read more

This is hands down the best post office location I have ever been to. You can tell the people working here enjoy their jobs and their teammates. Following up for the 3rd time on a package with a tracking number. It has been 23 days and no one can tell me where the package is or if it's en route. Today, 10/23, I provided the tracking number for an update and was put on hold for 40 minutes then disconnected. I called right back, trasferred to the operator, no one picks up and then disconnected. If the rest of us ran our businesses this way, we would NOT be in business! The personal here do not understand how fortunate they are to have these jobs funded by tax payers. read more

I love the Post Office on 145th. No matter how busy it is the customer service clerks are always friendly and go the extra mile when needed. I see people bash the post office and in the 12 years I've lived here I've only had one bad experience and he was gone within a couple weeks. That's a pretty amazing track record. read more

INCOMPETENT AND RUDE! As someone who fully understands how hard it is to work at a post office, I can still say this one is AWFUL. They've lost packages of mine before and when I call for assistance, I end up knowing more about how tracking/shipping works than their own employees. I gotta join in on the one star no-fun star. I understand that we've had an unusual amount of snow this winter. I understand that it has created many delivery snafus amongst all the carriers, UPS, FedEX. And really, all of you logistics services need to be better at communicating that weather was in fact the cause of the delay, not lost packages and such. Once the streets in my neighborhood appeared to be driven upon, the USPS still didn't deliver one of my packages. I ended up calling the direct line to this office to get the status on it. I also wanted to make sure that it didn't get mis-delivered to the same address in the adjacent city, which despite the appropriate zip code, has happened in the past. The person I spoke to on the phone was so combative with me about that. "Mail will always be delivered to the right address if the zip code is correct." Well, listen, Mr. Perfect, that has not been the case and I have had mail mis-delivered from the post office, other mail services as well as food delivery services, all of which I explained. I just wanted to make sure that that wasn't the case here. He proceeded to speak to me in such a hasty manner that if he spoke quicker he'd be retired faster. This one star is not only for the crappy phone customer service, but our carrier leaves our curbside mailbox open half the time. I don't care if my dad was a lifer of this racket. I would leave "0" more accurately however, no option to do so. RE; Bitterlake USPS, N. 145th St, Shoreline, WA. I used to be the biggest fan and defender of our USPS services, used to be! I have NEVER had the misfortune of dealing w/such scandalous, illegal, 'CYA after fact' practices, in my life! Expensive pkg had specific 'HOLD for pickup instruction', all confirmed by Informed Delivery', and in person in USPS, confirmations daily on tracking. Arrived at 6:11am Monday target date of arrival, we went to pick up at 10am, to be told it wasn't there & Returned to Sender. WTF?! at 9:11am. assured not in facility & no way to correct their massive error. Online showed went on truck for return at 11:30am after we were there, and they entered 'Vacant Occupancy, RTS'. it has now disappeared, last notation at 11:30. In the ether. Falsification of records, theft, & previous online records of 'Hold' removed - now not showing! Vendor has rec'd no notification of pkg return or tracking status. Disappeared! Or more accurately, into mail carrier's trunk! Merry Xmas Bitterlake USPS! So called Cust Srvc/response..."Oh, that's weird, next!". Uhhh, yea...that IS weird! It arrived, and immediately grabbed and put....wherever. Weird - ya think? & oddly, it is NOWHERE now....just POOF! And all OK with facility manager, & upper level Cust Srvc @ 800-USPS. Weird!!! I'd say so! Anyone else in 98133 missing packages mail put on 'Hold/Pick Up"?. They 'held' for...3hours? But make it look like deliver attempt then false entry of Vacant to justify RTS. 3 convos w/ Mgr follow, then by next morning online records/entries disappear. Coincidence? I think NOT!!!! Don't come here unless you bring a sleeping bag and plan on staying the night slowest post office I've ever been too

The package mailer has been out of service for 6 months now. Why keep it if it is out of order and can't be used? Get it fixed or get it gone. Or is only functional during post office hours? If I get here in time for the post office to be open, I probably don't need to use the drop box. I returned an item in a padded envelope mailer, the same way it was mailed to me by the seller. Large envelope rate was fine for the way here. But apparently the post office has different rules in shoreline than where it started out in Texas, because there the mailer rate was just fine. Same item, same postage and same type of mailer it came to me in. But that won't fly for these yahoos who work at this post office. It got rejected and mailed back to me. Put a notice for additional postage, and then slapped the sticker clear over the address label. So I need to go back in to the post office if I want credit for what I already paid, and I need to use a new label or no one will be able to see where the mailer is supposed to be delivered to. Nice. I haven't been to this post office, but the sentence below is a review on behalf of my husband who went there and does not have yelp. "Bunch of jerks, when you ask a simple mail-related question for more information they give you an attitude like it's such a big deal and you are making them work too much. An it's-not-my-problem-and-I-don't-want-to-help-you attitude" In my own experience, I have also observed this kind of apathy at post offices and I don't get it. USPS employees have a stable job, with good benefits and security and are in a union. It's not like you are a researcher with a terminal degree making less than 50k who can be terminated at any time for any reason with or without notice. So what's the problem?! read more

I lost my mail box key and Robert answered my call and personally volunteered to go to my house and pop the lock so I could get a new one. 10/5 stars!! Exceeded my expectations. Got in line at 8:20 am - and was a little disappointed the line stretched the length of the building. What I did not anticipate was the good nature of others in line. I'm really disappointed to write this review because I love the post office. I think it's a great idea, and am so glad we have it. Being able to send a letter in the U.S. for 55 cents is awesome. But I have had a horrible time lately with trying to get a package delivered to me, and my repeated follow-up attempts have not gotten me anywhere and instead somehow gotten my package farther from me. I bought a gift on Etsy from a seller in the UK, who shipped it on October 28 as registered mail. It arrived in the US, and the initial attempted delivery took place on November 5. I did not realize it was coming as registered mail, and so I was not home at the time. A notice was left that I could pick it up at this post office, which I attempted to do so on November 7, only to be told no one in the building was able to locate my package, despite the last scan indicating it was there. I left my name, number, and a copy of the attempted delivery slip, and was told someone would follow-up with me. I asked if I could fill out some kind of form to indicate I'd made an attempt to pick it and was told I would have to fill out a service request case online, which I did. I still have not been contacted regarding anything with that case, despite me trying to get a response. I found another attempted delivery slip on my door on November 12, despite no one calling to tell me the package had been found. When I called upon finding that slip on November 12, I was told no one could locate my package in the building, though the last scan indicated it was there. I again left my name and number. I made another call to get a status on November 14, with the same result, after talking to several different people. I submitted a redelivery request for November 16, when I would be home, hoping the package might show up, since it had seemingly been found. My mail carrier came to the porch to apologize and tell me it was still missing, and didn't know what had happened that indicated it had briefly resurfaced. I decided to call again today, November 21, and was told my package was being sent back to its sender as of November 18. This, despite no one calling to tell me it had been found, and it not being the full two weeks I was led to believe it would be held. The person I talked to at the post office was not helpful in offering some clarity on how any of this happened, but instead gave me a number to try and intercept the package. The full tracking list is very confusing, indicating my package was jumping around from Bitter Lake to Federal Way to maybe Kent. I then talked to two different people at USPS Customer Care, one for domestic mailings and one for international. The domestic customer representative was very patient and apologetic, and admitted they were also not sure what was going on. I put in another redelivery request that they thought would get the package to me. But when I then spoke with the international customer representative, they could not confirm this, and said it was likely headed back to the UK. To file a claim, I would have to contact the seller, for them to file the claim, for the international team in the US to investigate. All this, despite the issue clearly being the Bitter Lake post office. They also told me the package should have been held up to 30 days for me to pick up, since it was international and Registered mail, but the tracking indicated it was being returned to the UK after only 11 days. I have a small hope my package will magically appear at my house on Saturday, but I am not holding my breath. Rather than bother the seller to file a whole claim, if the package makes it back to them, I will ask for a refund so neither of us has to deal with this again. I'll also definitely not bother sending anything as Registered mail, since despite the guarantees of more careful tracking, it's done everything but. The item I bought has no sentimental value to me, but thinking of how many people send important items via Registered mail, it's pretty alarming that something shipped with Registered mail could be lost so completely, with very little help in finding it. This has been a bummer of a situation. If I could get an explanation for how this happened this way, that would be great. How my package was lost in the post office, why it was taken out of the building to be redelivered after 11 days, why even the domestic Customer representative couldn't understand why it had traveled to all the places it has been, why no one has contacted me since I filed my service request, why the follow-up has all been on me, why I have had to leave my information with several people working in the same building. My previous experiences with USPS, including this post office, have been largely positive. Which is why this whole episode has been so disappointing and confusing. If I get any kind of resolution I will happily share it here. From what I understand, the misplacing of my package began with this post office. read more

This place gets a bad rep and idk why. I came in today to get a package and this dude up front was yelling and screaming at them because his package wasn't ready. He wouldn't let them help anyone else either. Honestly it would take me some time to get stuff done if I had to deal with entitled people all day. Regardless the manager was able to work around him and got everyone else their items since they were ready. A little slow service but they do their best! read more

Does anyone really LIKE their local post office branch? I used to when I lived in other cities (HOU and PHX) and I was fortunate enough to get to know the employees there. Not all of them loved their job. C'mon now, it's the post office... I'm fairly sure the USPS is one of the levels in Dante's Inferno. What angered me the most is the borderline racism of some of the employees. My husband was asked a couple times by one of the women working there what his ethnicity was... and not in the "you look ____, are you ____?" I got that once from the Filipina lady there because yes, I am half Filipina. No. It was the straight up "what are you?" question which angered him to no end because nowhere in pluperfect hell should that answer have any effect on posting parcels or buying stamps. The parking doesn't frustrate me here. There is ample parking on the east and west sides of the building with a VERY short walk. The patrons can be frustrating especially the ones who insist on heading west out of the parking lot when that bloody sign clearly says you can't, BECAUSE STOP IT, YOU CAN'T! I've chosen to do my postal business elsewhere when I have parcels or counter assistance. I'll sometimes drive out of my way so I won't have to hit up this branch. read more

I love that I live so close to a post office. I dislike that it's not a great branch. The best thing about this branch is the electronic kiosk where you can buy stamps and mail parcels. The lines are often very long and at times, I actually have to go to the counter (instead of using the kiosk). That is often frustrating. Calling this branch is often not very effective, so I don't recommend it. That being said, going in person doesn't really save any time but I think it provides an opportunity to get your needs met. The staff has always been very friendly and responsive to me when I get served (hence the 2 stars instead of 1). read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. This place is terrible, and most of the staff are rude. Sadly, I've had to come here for a few years. The carrier for my street refuses to deliver my packages to my door if my 2 foot fence is up. Mind you, it can be opened easily. The branch manager has come out to look said fence, and agreed that the carrier should make an effort to deliver our packages. I've called corporate several times to complain and nothing gets done. Most of the employees here are nice (ie. guy with dreadlocks, younger ladies, and a select few that come to the door on the side). My experiences dropping off my packages (labels purchased online) have always been pleasant. But like everyone else, there's that ONE time when something goes wrong and ends up leaving you livid. I'd say I'm a pretty experienced shipper. In the past 4 months I've shipped 1400+ packages--postages were all paid online. I used to drop them off at the Northgate location (which is less than half mile from my house), but that's a whole 'nother story for another day. Some of the cashiers at 145th began to recognize me as I dropped more and more packages off each time, 6 days a week. Guy with dreadlocks always waves "hi" and resumes helping his customer; younger ladies were always friendly and helpful; the supervisor is always all smiles and helpful as well. I never stay to chat or anything--I go in, drop off my packages, and leave. Except when I have Priority Express Mail that I need an acceptance receipt for. In all my years of shipping, I've always asked and received a receipt when I drop off Priority Express mails. This is so the sender (me) has proof that the package was dropped off before the post office's cut-off time for guaranteed deliveries. Even my previous employer at a law firm always instructed the assistants to get a receipt when they drop off time sensitive Priority Express envelopes. Anyway, everything always went fine...until this past Friday. At noon, I dropped off my usual packages through the side door, and went to wait in line to get a receipt for an Express package I paid for online and NEEDED to be delivered the next day, on Saturday, to a CA address. The cashier that helped me, the small older woman, said to me, "We don't give receipt for those." I have never been more confused in my life. I said that this is an Express package and I've received receipts for them in the past. She basically said they've never given receipt for them, and prompted me to put it on the counter to the side. Long story short, I left the PRIORITY EXPRESS package on the counter at around 12:05PM on Friday, with guaranteed delivery Saturday by noon. Tracking history indicates it wasn't scanned as accepted until 2:28PM Friday. Today is Sunday, and the last scanned event was the package leaving the Seattle terminal on Friday evening. This means the buyer won't be receiving his package until Monday. *Update* The supervisor and one of the other clerks really worked to get my money back (package was ultimately delivered 3 days late for an Express postage) as soon as possible. I wish this was not my home post office. What is it with these people? I know they are paid well. They act and look so miserable. I have shipped mail from the main office and I have two carriers who deliver to my house. One of the men is very nice and friendly and well the other is a rude, mean old man who obviously hates life! He's made rude comments about my house remodel. He's skipped my mailbox on purpose, he's ran into my mailbox and we needed to replace 4x4, he's rammed my garbage cans into the driveway, the last straw was today when he drove up to my front door and threw my two packages onto my porch from his Jeep. When my husband confronted him, he said, "I delivered your mail....didn't I" my husband got really bad and swore at him and he says, "nice language, you should go learn English".....He is a real JERK! Then he tells my husband,"don't park your truck there anymore or I won't deliver your mail! ". There is no truck in the way of the mailbox. His fat ass can reach the mailbox from his window. He was upset because he had to put his Jeep in reverse for two feet to get around a different vehicle no where near the mailbox. I think it was more of his belly was effecting his ability to turn the steering wheel. We have complained about him but unfortunately seems like the managers of these state workers have no control over their actions. Even the manager who I personally knew told me, their hands are tied when it comes to their behavior and discipline. These workers are getting away with being horrible, time sucking, lazy employees and we are paying for them. I should add also, I am tired of having to walk by the homeless begging for change at the door when I go there. Can't they do anything about that either? I live in Seattle for several years before I moved back to Florida. Not that many problems then; yes, there were lines but I expected them so no complaints from me. Unfortunately, last December 28th I sent a certified letter with return receipt requested from Florida. The mail person did not attempt to deliver the letter to the recipient, nor did he leave the note necessary for the recipient to go claim it. It's impossible to talk with USPS Customer Service ; plus I have tried several times to call and have asked multiple times about it to the recipient and others in the same household. Today -21 days later- I received a text telling me that because of not claiming the letter, is going to be send back to me! If that is not incompetence , I don't know what it is! read more

Defining the word "meh" for the masses This one is moderately better than the Greenwood and 85th location but still like choosing the smartest kid with down syndrome. The black guy with dreads is always by far the most helpful and efficient but everyone else there...well, they didn't coin the term "going postal" on accident. It's a federal job so there is ZERO accountability for customer service, they simply don't care and don't make any bones about it. The best part about this place is it inspired a spin off of one of my favorite shows "The Office." Next time you go in there instead of expecting to be able to handle your postage business, think of it like going to view a live performance of an episode of your newest favorite show, "The Post Office" goodness knows the line will give you a ample time to view it. When observed from the standpoint of a sit-com the place lights up and becomes one of the funniest live performances I've ever been to. Possibly the best part of the performance is that it's free until the end at which point you can choose to make a donation to the performers. Also they may be able to mail certain things for you but that is far from the point. read more

This is by far my favorite post office. The clerks are friendly, efficient, and know what they are doing. Sometimes there is a line, but that's true of every post office. It's the nature of the beast. And, the line seems to move a lot faster than at other post offices. I go there fairly regularly for EDDM mailers and have never had a problem. Quick, efficient drop off, and the deliveries have always been on time. These guys are great! read more

There were people painting the apartments but they weren't in the walkway to the mailboxes. Unfortunately, I have to update my review to one star. About 5-6 weeks ago, I received a slip indicating I had a package. The clerk could not find it. Said the slip person must be dyslexic. Last week, I received a package. Noticed it had been mailed Jan 30, I received it Mar 19. I didn't have DC, but it had the internal tracking. I used some contacts within USPS to restore the tracking for it and confirmed that it had been sitting at the PO since February 4th. Filed a complaint via the 1-800 number. Was supposed to receive a follow up within 24 hours. No follow up 5 days later. March 21 I received a package, and was absolutely baffled because it was something I ordered last fall that I thought had gone lost. I thought maybe the seller re-sent it, but the electronic postage was dated Sep 17, 2012, and there is no way to re-use one of those labels so long after the fact. This PO scanned it delivered on Sep 19, but I sure never received it that day! I confirmed with the seller that they had not re-shipped it. It's my word against the PO since they have a delivery scan on Sep 19, but I showed it to a supervisor guy at the PO when I received it, and he made a photocopy of the label and said he would look into it. Still waiting on a call about that one too. These are not isolated incidents. I have other packages that have been scanned wrong, that the clerks can't find, etc. My parents do not normally receive packages to the PO Box, but this PO services their physical address, and sometimes they have to pick up packages here. They have had similar experiences with the clerks being unable to find their packages for weeks on end. I have lived many places and used many post offices. Most clerks are awesome. I have never seen a post office with as many failures in customer service and ability to deliver the mail as this one. read more

I love this post office!!! I've had a post office box at this location for about 8 years now and these guys make everything super convenient. The lobby is open 24/7, so I can pick up my mail anytime. If I receive a package that won't fit in my box they usually leave a key for one of the lockers in my box and I can pick it up right away. Even if they're out of lockers the line at the counter goes really fast and the staff is great. Plus the rates for PO boxes are really cheap! If I order something from Amazon I can usually get it delivered to the Amazon Hub which is right around the corner, so I can pick up everything at once and I don't have to worry about it getting stolen off my porch or out of my mailbox. read more

I've been here a few times to drop mail off and even though the lines can be quite long at times, I've learned there is a big reason why the service takes an X amount of time. There are so many steps in order to process the most simplest of tasks and for good reason because the amount of security the Post Office puts into protecting our mail is very real. The best way to get answers for anything postal related is to know your mail carrier (That's what I did) and he/she will give you good advice and tips on how to send your mail. read more

I've been here a few times sending out hair donation and gifts. I thought it's really that bad. When I was there, I can always find parking. This is very good and convenient. And, I was always lucky I always experienced good services. Maybe the wait can be a little too long, but it also depends on the customers. Sometimes, the customers can hold the line long. With the budget cut for post office and short of staff, I thought it's being pretty good! read more

This place deserves zero stars. I've lived all over the country and this place is royally the worst post office I've ever utilized - undoubtably. I had better USPS experiences on an island in the middle of the Pacific. Where to begin? From lost packages, damaged packages, packages lost within their office, mail not being delivered for weeks, mail being delivered to the wrong addresses... failure upon failure. God forbid you have to call them for anything, it'll take about 5 separate calls and 30 minutes of waiting to receive zero assistance. If you actually have to come here to ship anything, bless your soul. There's usually one older Asian woman slaving behind the counter while her other male workers linger around doing seemingly nothing (with exceptions to the older Asian guy, he's probably their best worker). Don't expect there to be any flat rate boxes in the lobby so you can utilize that ever so handy Self Service Kiosk (it's broken 25% of the time). When I let them know they had no boxes, I was told they don't keep them out because the homeless take them and sleep out front on them. Awesome! Prepare for your daily dose of guilt trip from the beggars hanging out front, and the regular haole guy soliciting (he's always there). This place needs new management, maybe a better budget for more qualified workers? I haven't received my mail in about two weeks, and nobody ever answers their phones. USPS toll number tells me I have to call my local post office. This location needs to seriously get it together! read more
