This is the post office closest to my home. It gets a bit crowded on weekends but staff are professional and I don't think they're wasting any time on their job. There is this one Asian lady (I believe she is Korean) who helps me most of the time when I'm there, and she is great every time! She explains how things work thoroughly, whether I'm there for mailing in my old passport to get it renewed or sending a package to Japan. She is also very careful about putting in the correct address so I feel more comfortable and confident getting help from her. She also has good energy level and is nice to talk to. Being in customer-facing job myself, she inspires me to do better at my job too. This may be common knowledge, but since they do not let you use mailing tools like glue, tapes, or scissors, I recommend bringing them from home if you plan on packing on-site. read more

We put our mail on hold before we left for a two-week trip last year. When we returned and stopped by our local post office to pick it up, they waved their hands and said they couldn't find it. You read right: They couldn't find it. We receive packages regularly at our apartment complex. Everyone who lives here does. And I expected an important package today, waiting all morning for it to arrive, checking and re-checking the USPS website for updates. Finally, the website said: "No Access to Delivery Location." You read right again: The USPS suddenly can't gain access to a building they normally access six days a week. Looking out my window, I didn't see any telephone poles, abandoned semi-trucks, or boulders blocking the entrance to our lobby. So I tried the lobby door. Fine. Nothing wrong there. Then I called the carrier annex closest to me--the same people who lost our mail last year. The call ended after two rings. I called them back. It hung up again. I tried three more times. Same. Same. Same. Then I called the Postal Service and sat on hold for over an hour before I finally hung up in disgust, listening to their on-hold music and looped advertisements for getting my packages to me fast, secure, and on time. But that's precisely why I'm calling them: my package is in limbo somewhere--all because they suddenly can't put a key in a lock and open a door. And this is where our tax money goes... read more

TLTR: go to UPS for shipping needs, go to USPS for P.O. Box needs. Mel was amazing in getting my PO Box set up. Reason I'm giving 3 stars is there was a customer next to me that needed ONE piece of tape on the side of her package. One piece. The other store clerk made her buy the $5 tape they sell, instead of putting 2 inches of tape on her box. If u don't have tape on you- I would suggest going to ups right down the street, as they will tape it up for free. read more

My wife and I needed to send documents to a government agency, which required very specific mailing requirements and was a bit of a lengthy process. The best USPS in the area! I love this place. I ship out tons of sales from Mercari, and so far I have never had an issue with a package getting lost! This location usually has a long wait line, but you can use the package drop off window on the side of the building and be in and out within seconds! Sometimes I ship the most ginormous boxes ever, and never once has an employee made me feel bad about it! I'm always rushing in last minute with my end of day sales, and the employees are always ready to scan in my items. They're really good with swapping out bins when it gets full, so you're never standing around waiting to drop off a package. The employees are always super friendly, and this location closes at 6 PM which is a bonus! Most of the locations around me closes at 5-5:30. Parking can be a bit hard to find on weekends. It is street parking only, but I've never had an issue with trying to find parking. There's diagonal parking spots on the side of the building, or parallel parking out front. read more

One of the better experiences I've had at an USPS office location. Maybe two or three people ahead of me, but service was quick and I was out of there within ten minutes. I had a couple questions regarding expediting my passport renewal. All the staff members were very friendly and the woman helping me answered my all my questions. Just a heads up--if you're driving, there is no parking lot but on the side of the building there are a couple of 30 minute loading zone spots. Other than there, easy street parking around the post office. Definitely will be coming back to this location in the future if I need to mail anything else. read more

I had to ship something during the COVID-19 outbreak and Paul S. was friendly and helpful, despite the current situation. He realized after I had checked out that I could have saved a few dollars choosing a different shipping option. I declined his numerous offers to refund and go with the cheaper option because the price difference didn't seem like much to me; I thanked him and was on my way. He started creating my shipping while I was packing up the flat rate box with presents for the nephew. By the time I was done packing he had checked if priority or another option was cheaper and had printed the tag already. I've been a PO Box customer at this location for 6 years. Last week, I couldn't get into the lobby to get my mail. No explanation, no warning. Finally, after 4 days of this, they put up a sign on the door saying the lobby is locked from 6:30pm to 6:30am every day. Such a drastic reduction of service is something that, at the very least, should come with a warning if not a price break. The only reason they get more than one star is that, their counter service is as good as I've seen at any USPS office. read more

Someone filled out a fraudulent change of address for my address in an identity theft attempt, these guys have *no* clue as to how to get the fraudulent change out of their computer system! Also consistently don't answer the phone or even take it off the hook so it doesn't ring. read more

Wow. Best service I've ever experienced at a post office. The woman who took care of me at the counter was named Mel. She was like a USPS super-expert - talking and moving a mile a minute yet so informative and helpful! Wasn't even a line - the lady's just speedy. I come in to mail my passport renewal stuff - as soon as I approach the desk Mel whips out the needed envelope (I was expecting to be pointed to some far corner of the place and have to get back in line). She pushes a label across the counter to fill out with the address - "Should I move aside?" I ask, expecting the usual tsk tsking about not having forms filled out ahead of time. "No problem" she says - "Let me read the address aloud for you while you write!" I didn't know my zip code since I recently moved but she took one look at my address and knew it. She did a quick review of my docs to make sure I had everything in order (USPS does handle passport stuff after all.) She knew to send my envelope via a trackable service without asking (I forgot to until after), charged me $6, handed me my receipt and I was done. Such good and friendly and efficient service, I was absolutely floored! I will definitely brave the post office here again and see if it's consistently good. Our offices are located at 1417 NW 54th Seattle, WA 98107. We are on the 2nd floor, one ouf the tenants Susan put a note up to tell the carriers to stop returning her mail. There is a bank of mailboxes when you walk in the door for all units 300 through 400. However if you walk around the corner to your right and then left there are about 50 or 60 more mailboxes numbered in the 100's and 200's. The carriers are either do not know there are more boxes or they just don't want to walk around the corner and deliver our mail. SO THEY RETURN IT. We have been told by the POST OFFICE our route is a training route. Well if you are going to train people you best make sure they know how to put mail in ALL THE BOXES OF ALL THE TENANTS, It is getting frustrating have peoples payments returned, new work being sent back. PLEASE WHO EVER is in charge at the BALLARD POST OFFICE MAKE SURE YOUR CARRIERS KNOW TO DELIVER ALL MAIL TO ALL OF THE BOXES, EVEN THE ONES AROUND THE CORNER.
